Oddly enough, the term \"Gypsy\" came from the false belief that\nthe original Romani settlers originated from the Egyptian line.\n\nSuch information aside, not only were Gypsies given false origins, their\nhistory is one and the same with Witch culture revolving their persecution\nand near universal mistreatment and shunning regardless of location,\nwith tales spread of their supposed \"wicked\" ways and the methods in\nwhich they may use to mistreat others and take from them.\n\nOn top of this, Gypsies and Witches alike, despite how lands neglected\nthem, were often used for their abilities for the sake and betterment of the\nvery people which caused them to live such difficult lives. Pushed into\nslavery in service of those who looked down on them, and spirited off to\nwar-fronts to defend the very lands which refused to allow them to call home.\n\nWhen you consider this harsh, and lengthy, history of neglect toward their\nkind, one should consider it of little surprise that both Witches and Gypsies\nalike would come to hold grudges and skepticism toward others, nor' should\nit be a shock that their actions would come to revolve the very stories told of\ntheir kind, not out of willingness per-se, but more-so necessity to survive.\n\nHunt others before they hunt you, take before you are taken, leave no roots\nto track, an existence little more than an enigma thriving on the winds of tall\ntales and the fear of the unknown. The name \"Esmerelda\" encompasses \nperfectly the danger of lies and the threat in which they may pose, toward\nthose lied about, and the vengeful potential in response to those persecuted.\n\nIt's no wonder then as to why the Hatterene line loathes those who hold too\nmuch on their minds, as busybody types have a bad habit of sticking their\nnoses where they don't belong. Such people often harbor thoughts and opinions\nof others they've no business labeling, and can fill themselves with discontent, \neven ill will toward those who they don't understand, be it a result of envy,\nsocietal differences, etc.\n\nIn the end, Hatterene by a vast majority consider themselves non-conformists,\nrefusing to have much if anything to do with society, and to those foolhardy\nenough to capture one of their kin in the present day, the abuse a Hatterene\nforces upon their captors makes the potential benefits of their powers less than\nworth the pain they'll inflict consistently, winding up released by those who failed\nto do their research and merely assumed they would submit to the \"right type\"\nof human, with such being fairly nonexistent.\n\nOn the topic of Hatterene being non-conformist, one shouldn't be surprised by\nthe \"assets\" they harbor beneath the gown of lengthy locks which typically shroud\ntheir physiques. With their \"hair\" in general being a sign of their power, in the past\nWitches would find themselves shaved head to toe by their persecutors to strip\nthem of said power, leaving Witches preferring death itself over the loss of that which\nrepresents who and what they are and gives them their very way of life.\n\nThis in mind... Abuse will be paradise to those who attempt to remove a single lock\nfrom a Hatterene's body. Regardless of whether it was via force or request, both\nwill be met with the same traumatizing experience, leaving those who weren't already\nwary of their kind permanently horrified by the mere mention of their name. If by\nsome miracle a human is fortunate enough to win their favor, requesting anything\nrevolving removal of their follicles will have that person sent through the same hellish \nexperience their kin would give to any stranger, with their favor permanently lost.\n\nYou may wonder how such a woman would wind up in the Guardian's harem, which\nis a story, potentially, for another day, if and when it comes about...",
