Usually it was always for a repair or a maintenance check; the same ol' humdrum stuff. While gaining a sense of morals and realizing being a good guy was where he was meant to be, it was no less boring whenever he was put out of commission for a lil' bit. Now? Now, though, he felt like he could burst fireworks! It was such a simple change, daresay completely unnecessary, but watching the new appendage being attached to his leg was the best thing he could have asked for. It had been a simple musing, not even a request. Watching Sonic and Gramps together, it was a unique experience. Apparently Sonic always hated it when he caught Chuck wearing his boots, having a firm believe the old man looked better barefoot. And really, he had to agree... Being created of the same mind, he shared many of the blue blur's interests, including the more... niche ones. So it sometimes happened when he was turning in for the night, he'd look down at his clunky, shoe-like feet in a bit of disappointment. A constant reminder that he was still a bot, still a creature that was looked at with caution and distrust. When Chuck called him down for another check up, he was ready for another two-hour long buzzkill. Only to be surprised when he stepped in to see Chuck was curiously barefoot despite Sonic not being around, and had a ton of blueprints up on his table. "I've seen the way you've been acting lately... and I think I have a solution." That got his attention, and he could swear his ears would be tilting if they were articulated. "Whatcha got, Gramps? You're usually never in the lab with your shoes off, you keep sayin' it's a safety hazard..." "For research, my metallic friend. Hop up." He'd been dubious but made himself comfortable on a chair, only to watch as his feet were removed from his legs, one propped up on the table amidst a myriad of parts... And then he realized the intent, his eyes lighting up. Now, almost three hours later, the first one was finished. In that time, Chuck had been using his own feet as reference to give his new toes full flexibility. The front now had a slimmer profile but had all the features of his previous, and he couldn't help but wiggle it excitedly. "Gramps, you outdid yourself! Hahah, it's so cool!" It wasn't a drastic change, but it made him feel more... organic, more unique. It even had a neural network, sending a pleasurable tingle when those fingers brushed over the plating of his sole. While it would still take time for the next one to be finished, he could sit as long as it took. Heh, maybe now he could join in when Sonic and Chuck got to have their special brand of fun~\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
