Oh, yeah, it's just the new neighbors. A few months ago, these German Shepherds bought the biggest house on the street right next to my lovely fox twins. The father, Jackson, is a big dog in the investment sector or whatever, so he had the money to do so. XD
The moment our two families greeted each other, bonds were formed right away. Us two dads were bros right from the beginning. We chatted about sports, our cars, and immediately planed a big barbecue for the weekend. The fact that both of us are single fathers certainly helped. While the mother of my twins unfortunately died a few days after giving birth, the German Shepherd's wife decided that her career was more important than her family and simply left one day.
Of course, the two adults weren’t the only ones finding something interesting in the new family from next door. As eager as my fox twins always are for everything new, they immediately took the lead. My Leila chatted with Sophia, asking her all kinds of questions while also sharing pretty much everything about herself. For the very shy German Shepherd girl it was hard to answer or even to follow everything. However, when they learned that they were both with the Cub Scouts, Sophia's mood relaxed and became more open. From that point on, the two girls were basically best friends, talking about all the badges they had and which one they wanted to get next.
For my Micki it wasn’t going so easy. At 17 years of age, Markus was on a completely different page in the great book of life than the young fox. BUT! Never underestimate my Micki. He finds a way to connect with pretty much everyone, and Markus would be no different. Luckily the young German Shepherd was used to cubs at every age. In his old town he was a babysitter for many years and to many families, so his self-confidence literally led to his downfall. The moment Markus turned his back on Micki to ignore him and maybe chat with his dad and this old fox next to him, my little rascal pulled the young German Shepherd's sweatpants down to his ankles! Of course the result was that he tripped over his feet and he fell lengthways onto the lawn!
Before Markus could react, my Micki was on top of him and sat on his back. With his arms raised high, he announced that he was the winner of a fearsome battle! The young German Shepherd didn't surrender to such an unfair move. For the next hour or so the two wrestled in the backyard, always trying something new to get the upper hand over the other one. Markus was smart enough not to go all out, but still gave the young fox a challenge. The longer they continued, the more fun Markus had. He was so used to being the somewhat grown-up teenager now, that just letting himself go in a little wrestling fight like a pup was very refreshing. And he had to admit, the small fox had some pretty good moves, too!
On that day a very close friendship was formed between our two families, which will grow even stronger over time.
