He knew he'd regret saying those words. He always did, even if the words were true. This weird alien clown had saved his life, numerous times in fact, and that red-nosed asshole loved to cash in favors. It was usually something minor. A bit of sex here and there, some extra maintenance duty around the ship perhaps, maybe he'd be the designated drink fetcher for the day. Nothing too crazy. However, what was dangerous is when he saved those favors. One favor could be wiped away with a minor task on Bastian's part. However several favors required slightly more...commitment.
