I was asked once if I had any gay couples, to sort of counterbalance all the lesbians who show up in my gallery. Well, yes. I do, actually. Both of these characters are from my second novel, where they were sort of secondary characters.
Richard, the fox, is the only son of the President (read tyrant) of the city of Jaspertree. Though before you decide you hate him he is pretty much the exact opposite of his father in every way, having been mostly raised by his mother and he always wanted to try to redeem his father somehow. Michael, the margay, is Richard's friend from school, who first taught him how to love himself, and then that he could love other people. As you can likely tell, the two of them have only recently become lovers, and so they're still a bit shy of each other. The sapphire necklace that Richard is putting around Michael's neck has a significance to their story that's too long for a simple picture blurb, but suffice to say it is his pledge of love to Michael.
