Here are some things to watch out for:

1) excessive background noise
2) Too soft or too loud recording (too soft has to be amplified, and that amplifies the background noise. Too loud causes clipping and distortion)
3) Excessive room reverberation (even a small quiet room has some reverb. Listen for it)
4) a recording of you singing ON TOP of the music. (Please, just your voice, not your voice AND the vocal follow. I can't remove the music nor mix it, otherwise)
5) a recording of you singing it without listening to the song through headphones. (Trust me, you won't get the pitch or meter right. You simply won't)
