The mouse-like race living under the rocky surfaces of their moon homeworlds and laid undiscovered in the frigid rocky grounds for many a centuries. As Mars was colonized by the race of felines below them, the underground Nezu would expand their own societies whilst hidden despite their knowledge of the Nekuomimi being nothing; the mice unaware of the existence of life on the big red planet that they revolved. Though the Nekuomimi Empire expanded steadily enough until they would finally reach their grasp to their empire's moons. Their planned expansion bringing with it the discovery of another martian species that had gone unnoticed until then.
First contact between the Nezumi and Nekuomimi was established after excavation began for the planned Naval Citadel on the moon of Phobos. Dig teams would dig right into the underground dwelling of the Nezumi in a surprising appearance from the 'heavens' as they broke through the surface. The stunned Nezumi seeing these looming feline beings as alien and invaders as panick quite quickly set in. The newcomers themselves stunned and surprised as they had thought themselves the only intelligent life in the Martian Sphere. Soon after, conflicts began as the newcomers were seen as hostiles and the Nezumi saw fit to strike against them in a shortly lived conflict named the 'Lunar Campaigns' by the Nekuomimi or the 'Surface Wars' for the Nezu.
At the start of the Lunar Campaigns, the Nekuomimi Empire found itself being outwitted by the resourceful Nezumi whom had grown generations in the underground and known its terrain and how to move in its labyrinth-like tunnels. The Nezumi learned quickly that frontal fighting against the Nekuo was not viable for them without sustaining heavy losses against their advanced war gear. They instead resorted to hit and run tactics as well as unconventional warfare to fight the Nekuomimi. The Nezumi resistance mounting a challenge for the attacking Nekuo during the first stages of the conflict. But the tide would turn eventually as the Nekuo carried out their own tactics against the Nezumi to cut off their prior successes.
By the conflict's mid way, the Nezumi were on the run rather than celebrating small victories on the invaders as they were pushed back and through their tunnels and homes. The climax of the war reached when they had surrounded the Nezumi's leader, their own queen ,in her palace during one of the longest battles; the Siege of the Capital Nemi. The Nezumi having put a vicious defense in protection of their queen but ultimately were wittled down until having to fall back into the palace of their noble leader. The Nezumi were cornered now as they had to surrender finally to the invading felines; too many casualties sustained by them by this point and their leader now being surrounded by their enemy left them little choice..
Yet the Nekuomimi had seen worth in the Nezumi and their skills in both warfare and working underground by this time. Their Queen noting how this shorter race possessed good skills that they could see much use for in the future. It was such thoughts that spared the remaining Nezumi from being erradicated by the victorious forces as they conquered Deimos and Phobos. Instead, the species was transferred to Mars itself now. The mice being moved to the mainland planet so as they could now live there which the survivors would be welcomed by the Queen. She would see to them being settled and them becoming comfortable with the new life that awaited them in the empire. The first, and only so far, other race under their banner.
With their home taken, the remaining Nezumi race was shipped off to Proxima Martia on the ships of their former foe and now rulers. The Nezumi were spared by the Nekuomimi Empire and incorporated into their society rather quickly. Their hardy resilience and knowledge of the underground winning them a favor from the Queen which saw them living in the underground cities of the Nekuomimi. Though this 'favor' came with a price as the Nezu were quickly put to providing for the wider Imperial reign. Upon getting established enough in their new home, they would be put to work on their most familiar of skills; digging, expanding, and exploring the martian undergrounds. Their smaller stature and experience with underground building and excavation having earned them the assignment of the Empire's miners, builders, mechanics, and at times soldiers.
The Nezumi were placed to work, even conscripted into the Nekuomimi military, by their new overlords slowly but surely. The Nezu growing to be accustomed to their new lives rather quickly; though the culture shock still took its time to leave the mice in a new world. Yet the number of Nezumi after the conflicts of the moons had left them all but numbered and weaker than previously had been before the felines arrived. Thus they were granted another favor by the Queen of Mars in the form of the process of which to create and birth more of their kind through science; Cloning.Anatomy of a NezuThe Nezumi are thus far a fully female species, much like the Nekuomimi, after events of destructive radiation storms and surges showered on their moons long ago nearly ended their kind. It is unknown how the Nezu continued to live so many centuries even after the extinction of their males. Nezumi are a short [dwarf] species that reaches around ~3 feet in size average with the smallest having been around 2 feet tall when younger and atleast 5 feet as tallest in their Nezu Queen. They are much smaller than the average Nekuo whom stands at nearly 7 feet. Their ears are sensitive to sounds and even can pick up echo location from beneath in the caverns. Their eyes helping to see in the darkness easily with little or not help from light. Their antennae can also pick up unseen signals and 'messages' from their fellow Nezumi for communicating.
Their species often wears harnesses for assistance in holding their larger than average breasts. Their breasts an exotic trait of interest to the felines who have learned that they store fatty reserves on breasts [causing noticeable growth at times] for the winter seasons of Mars. Their breasts assisting in regulating their body temperature as it provies warmth against the typical frigid temperatures of the red planet. Nezumi have been observed storing items for safekeeping within their cleavages whether it be small tools and items to food as well. In some solar months, their breasts have been noted as producing and lactating milk which the Nekuo assume is from naturally occurring 'heat' within their genetic make up. The Nekuo have had to develop special uniform suits, alongside their harnesses, to assist in lessening the obstacle their breasts might bring when doing their work.
A majority of the Nezumi population currently is made up of lab born clones done by the Nekuomimi as a way to boost their numbers as the Nezumi are a numbered kind still due to the wars and lack of males. Their genetic template provided by the DNA of the Nezu Queen which helps prosper new waves of Nezu. Despite this though, the Nezumi are known for their desire for mating and look for males even from the neighboring planet of Earth where they learn males are plentiful still. Rather opposite to the Nekuomimi, they prefer to stay with those males they chose as their mates and partners rather than leaving them. Often times, a male can expect to have one or two or even three Nezu trying to mate and stay with him in some occasions.
