In his recent travels, he had seen many wonders that surpassed the tranquil beauty of the mountain lake before him. But there was something to be said about simplicity that should never be underestimated.\n\nHe sniffed at the warm breeze that carried the scent of wild flowers as it ruffled his mane and feathers. He knew he shouldn't be worried. His travelling companion was strong and capable after all. But it had been more than three hours since he excused himself, and the fluffy dragon by the lake shore was still alone, trying not to get worried. \n\nIsumar was still contemplating what his next move should be, or if he should even take one, when a shadow passed overhead. The Desert Darahken looked up to see the blue belly of his friend flash by, showing off the speed his breed of dragon was widely known for. The other dragon, a Windcutter from the far north, roared out a greeting before banking into a tight turn that would see him dive towards Isumar at breakneck speed. Yet, the blue was confident on the wing in ways that Isumar could only dream of and with a graceful backwing at the last second, he landed gently next to him.\n\n\"Tinath,\" Isumar greeted the newcomer with a warm smile. \"Took you long enough. I thought Windcutters could outpace the wind itself.\"\n\n\"Oh, I wasn't gone that long, you know.\" \n\n\"It's been the whole morning. Where did you...\" Isumar's question died on his tongue as Tinath's scent finally caught up, and the Darahken noticed the spicy smell of spent musk on his friend. The inside of his ears turned red, and Isumar turned back to the tranquil lake with an awkward cough. \"None of my business, it seems.\"\n\nTinath just smirked at Isumar before looking back the way he came. Isumar caught the shift in focus from the corner of his eye and covertly glanced back at the Windcutter, trying to judge what he was up to. However, the smooth features that were the hallmark of the Windcutter breed have always been difficult for the Darahken to read, who relied heavily on expressive ears.\n\nTinath remained silent, his gaze fixed on the distant treetops. And Isumar remained confused.\n\nUnable to hold his curiosity much longer, Isumar shifted to follow the Windcutter's gaze, only to see nothing of interest. \"Something wrong?\" he asked, glad to change the topic away from his friend's private business. \"I thought you visited these mountains often.\"\n\nTinath made a non-committal sound as he shrugged. He stared at the distant canopy a moment longer before suddenly turning to give the dragon with the shaggy black coat a playful swipe to the shoulder. \"That would be telling, now wouldn't it?\"\n\n\"Oh, please do tell!\" Isumar said, his ears perking in interest with such speed that Tinath burst out laughing. \n\n\"Nah,\" Tinath said. \"I think I'll allow her to do that herself.\"\n\n\"Her-self?\" Isumar was still processing that titbit of information when another shadow passed over them. The two males looked up to see a black female with the most striking blue trimmings on her leathery wings fly by. She banked into a lazy turn over the lake, showing off to them as she descended gradually towards the shore.\n\n\"You took your time, Vaela,\" Tinath said as the new female joined them. His light-hearted chuckle grew into a proper laugh as she nipped at his snout.\n\n\"Not all of us are built for blind speed, you know.\" She turned to look at Isumar, a deep purple blush starting to colour her cheeks as they regarded each other with wide eyes. \"So, er... this is the friend you've been telling me about this morning?\"\n\nIntroductions were shared and a shy greeting exchanged before the three dragons made themselves comfortable on the shore of the lake. The scent of Tinath and Vaela's morning lingered between them. Still, as they shared their most memorable experiences from various travels, the mood shifted from awkward new acquaintances to a comfortable camaraderie. A fellowship between travellers who liked to see the world for themselves instead of listening to what others thought of distant locations and cultures. Isumar was still contemplating what his next move should be, or if he should even take one, when a shadow passed overhead. The Desert Darahken looked up to see the blue belly of his friend flash by, showing off the speed his breed of dragon was widely known for. The other dragon, a Windcutter from the far north, roared out a greeting before banking into a tight turn that would see him dive towards Isumar at breakneck speed. Yet, the blue was confident on the wing in ways that Isumar could only dream of and with a graceful backwing at the last second, he landed gently next to him.

"Tinath," Isumar greeted the newcomer with a warm smile. "Took you long enough. I thought Windcutters could outpace the wind itself."

"Oh, I wasn't gone that long, you know."

"It's been the whole morning. Where did you..." Isumar's question died on his tongue as Tinath's scent finally caught up, and the Darahken noticed the spicy smell of spent musk on his friend. The inside of his ears turned red, and Isumar turned back to the tranquil lake with an awkward cough. "None of my business, it seems."

Tinath just smirked at Isumar before looking back the way he came. Isumar caught the shift in focus from the corner of his eye and covertly glanced back at the Windcutter, trying to judge what he was up to. However, the smooth features that were the hallmark of the Windcutter breed have always been difficult for the Darahken to read, who relied heavily on expressive ears.

Tinath remained silent, his gaze fixed on the distant treetops. And Isumar remained confused.

Unable to hold his curiosity much longer, Isumar shifted to follow the Windcutter's gaze, only to see nothing of interest. "Something wrong?" he asked, glad to change the topic away from his friend's private business. "I thought you visited these mountains often."

Tinath made a non-committal sound as he shrugged. He stared at the distant canopy a moment longer before suddenly turning to give the dragon with the shaggy black coat a playful swipe to the shoulder. "That would be telling, now wouldn't it?"

"Oh, please do tell!" Isumar said, his ears perking in interest with such speed that Tinath burst out laughing.

"Nah," Tinath said. "I think I'll allow her to do that herself."

"Her-self?" Isumar was still processing that titbit of information when another shadow passed over them. The two males looked up to see a black female with the most striking blue trimmings on her leathery wings fly by. She banked into a lazy turn over the lake, showing off to them as she descended gradually towards the shore.

"You took your time, Vaela," Tinath said as the new female joined them. His light-hearted chuckle grew into a proper laugh as she nipped at his snout.

"Not all of us are built for blind speed, you know." She turned to look at Isumar, a deep purple blush starting to colour her cheeks as they regarded each other with wide eyes. "So, er... this is the friend you've been telling me about this morning?"

Introductions were shared and a shy greeting exchanged before the three dragons made themselves comfortable on the shore of the lake. The scent of Tinath and Vaela's morning lingered between them. Still, as they shared their most memorable experiences from various travels, the mood shifted from awkward new acquaintances to a comfortable camaraderie. Tinath leaned over to whisper something to Vaela. The slight purple hue on her cheeks grew more pronounced as she regarded him, her ears up and alert. "What? Now?"

"Sure," Tinath said. He flashed her a confident, toothy grin. "I'm always game. As you so well know, experience is the best teacher. And remember that assertiveness we spoke about earlier? Well, Isumar here is the perfect candidate for you to practice on."

"Wait, you mean..." Isumar started to ask, but his voice trailed off as Vaela stood up. He watched in silence as she glanced back at Tinath, who only gave her one slow nod. Isumar tried to speak again as she stepped closer to him, yet nothing but a soft muttering escaped his throat.

"Of course, my dear. We are all friends here, aren't we?" she said, giving him a gentle, yet firm shove against his shoulder.

The Darahken flopped over without any resistance.
