Nine Lives Aren’t Enough. Chapter 6: The Cruelty of One, The courage of another. The owner of the cruel voice found himself in a dark room. The floor of said room was littered with books and papers, and He couldn’t move without causing them to crush and crinkle. He sighed, and look towards the bed. Amongst the midst of tangled blankets, sheets, and pillows, the vague shape of a Female grey wolf is visible. Ah yes, this was the home of one of Mike’s friends. Kelsie was it? The cruel man laughed. He was pressed for time, and this made it easy. With a wave of his hand, he brought himself and her back to his dark world, where Jen lay whimpering on the floor. Jen slowly brought her head up, and saw Kelsie hanging limply by her neck. She whimpered slightly, but was unable to do anything else. The man laughed, and ravaged Kelsie with numerous scythe strokes, before casting the same spell keeping Jen alive. He tossed her to the ground beside Jen, and waved his hand again, binding them both with Chains, bringing them up to their knees, as if bowing to him. Kelsie, overcome with pain, finally woke up, screaming. The man laughed again. He came over, lifted her chin and smiling, slapped her. Kelsie glared at him with a fury he rather enjoyed. “Don’t… worry Jen… it’s going to be… okay…” She cringed in pain and fury again. “Mike… will find us….” The cruel man laughed once more, and slapped her again, grinning as the red drops of blood left her mouth and soaked into the floor at Jen’s feet. “Why are you so sure? After your last friend, he’s next. And if Josh couldn’t do anything to save any of you, what makes you think he can?” The window opened up again, and Josh again was forced to view the scene in front of him. The man smiled again, then turned back to Kelsie. She just looks furiously at him, and the man grew tired. “What if I told you Ryker was dead, and Josh is hanging like you, a hole in the back of his head from where I impaled it with my scythe?” The man knelt down to meet her furious amber eyes. For what seemed like forever to her, Kelsie just sat there, too furious to say anything. It wasn’t until the man started to stand up that she gathered up the courage to talk. “Normally, I would call you a liar, so I will. Liar.” The man furiously slapped her again. Kelsie felt the chains holding her creak with the impact, and the man was no longer laughing. He sighed, and Ryker’s body appeared, limp and lifeless. He grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, and shoved his face close to hers. “Why don’t you give him a kiss? Maybe that will wake him up so he can tell you how I made his best friend kill him.” He held the body close to her for a while, then having grown tired, cut off his head, and let chains hold it up. He turned back to Josh, who was struggling with his chains, trying to break free. “What? No kiss? Well then, how would you like if I gave him the same glorious treatment as you? Or how about setting him ablaze for your amusement?” “I would enjoy the blaze too much to ask for it.” Kelsie turned her head away, trying to avoid looking into the cold, dead grey eyes that constantly met her own. To her horror, the chains moved so avoiding eye contact was near impossible. She started to cry, her tears mixing with her blood as they hit the ground. “Oh well then. Guess I will give you that.” The chains holding her arms shifted them into a position that resembled her holding something, and the chains holding his head disappeared, causing her to catch him. His body then burst into flames. Kelsie couldn’t help herself, and her tears flowed like a river. “Now… off to get my next toy. Ta ta.” The voice teleports, and finds himself on a street in the town that his toys all live in. There. The vampire he was looking for was walking down the street, her back to him. He calmly walks after her, as if he was simply taking a nighttime stroll in the same direction. He gets closer and closer, before he finally taps her on the shoulder. As she turns around, He smiles. “Hello.” “Hmm… another immortal. To what do I owe this pleasure?” Kylie’s red eyes seemed to pierce into him, as if trying to see his twisted soul. He just laughed, and shrugged. He started walking with her, although she seemed reluctant to let him. “I wasn’t being polite. I really do want to know why you are here.” Her face seemed void of emotion, which didn’t please him. Maybe if she knew just what was in store for her… “What if I told you I could let you feed, without having to worry about killing the person? I have a few people sentenced to death that would be more than willing to let you.” He inwardly smiled. He knew that if she knew who these people were, she would never agree, so best to keep it a secret for now. “As appealing, and tasty, as that sounds, I can’t. I made a promise I would never kill another person by feeding on them again. Thank you for your offer, but I must also decline because I’m not sure if I can trust you.” Kylie again looked him over, as if trying to determine what his goal was. “Hmmm, seeing as you won’t come with me, how about I give you an offer you simply can’t refuse?” After seeing her questioning eyes, he turns so he looks directly into her eyes. “The lives of your friends.” The slightest furrow of fear and worry crosses her brow. She looks away, avoiding eye contact, now knowing who she was dealing with. “And what do I need to give in return?” “Nothing, just come with me.” He waves behind him, and a black door appears. It opens, leading to the dark world, and she hesitates. He walks in, offering his hand to her. Finally, she takes a few cautious steps forward, and walks through the door. It closes behind them, disappearing from view, and Kylie sees her two friends, tied up and bleeding, and the now charred remains of Ryker. The man grabs her, and drags her over to Kelsie, shoving her mouth against her gushing neck. She clamps her mouth shut, and he angrily increases her need, and will to feed by twice as much. Still she resists. How foolish. Again, he increases it. Still she refuses. Again and again. Soon, her thirst is so ravenous that she is shaking with pain. “I will have my way…” Still she silently refuses, and He grows disgusted. Chains appear from nowhere, and hang her up above the ground. He again doubles her need to feed, and makes Kelsie’s blood flood around her in a spherical spiral just beyond her reach. Kylie snaps, and screaming, struggles to get to the crimson blood flying around her. He laughs again, and goes to the room where Josh is being held. Josh laughs slightly, and seems to glow a bit, before finally disappearing. For the longest time, the voice stares at the vacant spot he once occupied. He yelled in fury, then spins to the three sitting there. Kelsie stares at him, her eyes flowing with tears and fixed into a look of pure rage. Josh appears at the door to Mike’s room, and stumbles into it. “M-mike… your okay…” Josh falls next to him, bumping Mike’s broken and poorly fixed arm. Mike winces, and then shakes Josh, hoping to wake him up. Finally Josh wakes up, and weakly gets up to his knees. “T-that bastard… killed Ryker… and got our friends…” Mike stared in horror at Josh, unsure of what he was more afraid of. The condition he was in, or the words he was saying. He falls to his own knees, cringing as he felt the pain from his arm. He sits there for the longest time. Finally he looks at Josh, with tears streaming down his face. “What is his name?” Josh stares at him, a scared look on his face. For the longest time he doesn’t answer, before Mike again yells “WHAT IS HIS NAME?” Josh struggles to keep from crying, and looks Mike in his eyes, and softly whispers “Raygon.” As he says it, the room seems to change back into the dark world, and Raygon reaches and grabs Mike’s neck. “Ahh… the final toy has finally come back. Welcome to your world of pain.” Raygon’s laugh echoes through the world, as if the world was laughing with him. Mike sees Jen, Kelsie and Kylie, all chained up and writhing with pain. He sees Ryker’s body, which has all but gone out, and Josh, cringing on the floor. He looks back to Ryker, and red stripes start to slowly appear all over his body.
