In truth, I just liked how James was able to get by after the death of his wife (and Fox's mother) Vixie Ranard. Although perhaps I made a bad decision to accept that mission of the black hole to be lost forever, but at the same time it was like a kind of "necessary evil", since it gave the motivation to Fox to face Andross in a more aggressive way, and to be able to avenge the "death" of his father.
