Well... for my opinion it`s pretty WEAK. I can`t even called this BAD, as the "Animaniacs" reboot was, where the annoying SJW and WOKE agenda was stuffed to the very top. No, Looniversity is just AVERAGE and boring.
Looniversity is just a pale shadow of the original classic. Reboot is AVERAGE in everything. And in the script, and in the characters building, and in jokes. All this is so faceless that the "Looniversity " can be forgotten a day after viewing.
Let me explainю
At first worth noting that, as in the case of the reboot of Animaniacs, in the new Tiny Toons NONE of the original authors and even the VOICE ACTORS were invited to work on the reboot. I think it's both stupid and outrageous.
Why did Steven Spielberg treat Tom Rugger like shit?! Steven, wtf, Rugger made the best of your shows!
The fact that even the old voice actors were not called is also not cool. At least some of the old actors were bring back to the Animaniacs' reboot. What prevented studio from doing it in the new Tiny toons than the fact that the new authors are assholes, and Spielberg is just an idiot?

Scenario: Looniversity is based on the scheme of "two sub-plots" with two groups of characters, which is combined into a single plot along the way. Or is it initially one plot in which all the main characters participate. And this is... a very dull approach to creating episodes. Because this is a typical scheme of a "funny sitcom about another dumb family"! Like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob's Burgers, etc.
Especially since the "Looniversity" is based on the principle of ONE EPISODE FOR 20 MINUTES.
Who is it even made for?! For nostalgic 30-40 years old boomers? Because Modern kids are not interested in such a format of animated show!
They like such stuff:
- 4-5 minutes – for an audience of 0-6+ - cartoons like Peppa Pig or Ben and Holly.
- 10 minutes – for an audience of 6-12+ - cartoons like The Amazing World of Gambol or Teen Titans GO!
- and Teenagers are more likely to watch the Family Guy or Rick and Morty with their 20-minute timekeeping than a boring Looniversity with censorship PG restrictions.
I consider it a failure that the authors of the Looniversity chose such format. Holy shit, the original Tiny Toons were more progressive than Reboot 2023!
In the original, a typical episode was divided into three 6-minute segments with cutaway gags in between. Brevity is the formula for success in modern times! Since the attention of the modern viewer is rather scattered, he will be much more willing to watch something short and clip-based. For which three cartoons of 6 minutes are PERFECT.
But no. Lame authors of the reboot took as a basis the most stupid version of a sterile animated sitcom. Damn it, even the authors of Animaniacs 2020 guessed NOT to break what working and left in the animated series an episode of 3 segments and cutaway gags between them!
Of course, at the same time they completely fucked up the variety of characters and entertainment leaving only the Animaniacs themselves and Pinky and Brain (and a couple of new self-made crappy "new characters") for the whole cartoon, but that's another story…

With the characters at Looniversity, everything is also dull. Okay, the new authors made Buster and Babs twins... only this did not affect their characters in ALMOST ANY WAY.
Buster and Babs behave the same way with each other as good pals and nothing more. Their relationship bears little resemblance to that of twin brother and sister who have lived together since birth. Where the hell is the competitive spirit and mutual banter of each other? Not necessarily all the time, but AT LEAST SOMETIMES. But no. "Twins" Buster and Babs behave like the most stereotypically obedient White children from the most cheesy sitcoms of the 80s…
Other characters: Plucky Duck became just a stupid asshole and that's it. Hampton is now a hypochondriac drama queen and is no longer obsessed with food, since fatshaming in 2023 is forbidden. Fifi la Fume no longer thirsty for boys, but continues to be the same lightweight bimbo in everything else.
The most radical changes was done with Sweety Bird – she has become one of the main characters! Now she's Babs Bunny's best friend! And Sweety's character is... a "sassy black girl." No, I'm not a racist, it's just that Sweety behaves according to such an archetype. Well you know… Like, for example, Number Five from "Kids Next Door" or Libby is Cindy's cheeky friend from "Jimmy Neutron".. Even Sweety declared radical feminism in reboot almost does not manifest itself. Com`on! What a boring thing... At least, in the Animaniacs 2020 mad feminism was pouring out from Dot like shit and a broken sewer! Which of course was terrible, but it was at least some work with the character
So, in Looniversity the characters have not changed much, which reboot both plus and minus.
Cause if this is a reboot, and not a continuation, then where are at least some interesting changes?! The authors of the reboot followed the simplest way, doing "Like almost the same thing"...
BUT! The difference is that the new authors do NOT understand what made the original characters so unique, so they only made a pale tracing copies from the original. So Babs and Buster from the "water and fire duet" became a duet of identical clones, Plucky from the vile schemer in the original in the reboot became just an antagonistic moron. Hampton went from being an nerd #1 student to just a clumsy mumbler.
However, these changes are made so lazily and sluggishly that they do not breathe new life into the characters, so the "new-old" characters look as sterile as possible.

Jokes at Luniversity are also pretty mediocre. As I have already written, the authors of the reboot chose the wrong format of 20-minute episodes. And also the pitch and pace of jokes are EXTREMELY SLUGGISH. As if this is not an CARTOON WITH HYPERACTIVE TOON CHARACTERS, but some fucking "Friends" or "2 and a half men", where the most corny and uninteresting joke is the PEAK of their comedy.
Seriously. most of the humor in Looniversity is tied to conversations and verbal jokes, rather than buffoonery and cartoon violence…
I didn't think I'd say this, but FUCK LOOK AT THE Uncle Grandpa or Unikitty!! It's full of modern crazy cartoon comedy with a fast pace! That very thing that modern kids need, who have fast clip thinking. Not this Looniversity boomer 20-minute show, where the main humor is in conversations and sluggish awkward situations, like "Oh, my roommate is playing the drums loudly!"
This is despite the fact that the animation in the Looniversity is OK, it has liveliness, energy and plasticity. It's all the more depressing that this not bad animation went to a show with such a weak writing.
What is the result?
Despite I think the WOKE "Animaniacs" 2020 is shit made by a third-rate scriptwriter of the lame lmodern "Family Guy" and random brainless monkeys - WITH ALL THIS, I have to note that at least the 1st season of the "Animaniacs" reboot was something SLIGHTLY memorable.
What cannot be said about the "Looniversity". Heck, a whole month has already passed since its premiere on September 9th, and there is practically NO reaction from the audience... Only few reviews from obscure bloggers... Btw I watch that reviews and I reccomed this

That guy have some reasonable remarks about Reboot :)
I bet that the reboot of Tiny Toons will last a MAXIMUM of 3 seasons, and will close after 30 episodes. This is at BEST. But most likely, this show will be closed after the 2nd season, if the authors do not try to extend the show by using the SJW, WOKE, LGBT and other agenda.
But you know, I didn't feel much disgust when watching a reboot of Tiny Toons, as I did when watching a reboot of Animaniacs.
Looniversity is just average and sterile.
And so I decided to draw a "fanart" by simply taking out a scan of my old drawing from 2013 from old files and slightly changing it.
This reboot does not deserve more unfortunately…
But anyway, this reboot at least reminded the world of the existence of Tiny toons, so thanks for that ;)
