"description": "Just a fun little \"tutorial\" for any curious about my color \"process\"\n\nI primarily use Paint Tool SAI, fyi\n\nStep 1 (going left to right, obviously)\n-Final lineart sketch as a \"multiply\" layer\n-Flat color layer(s) underneath \"lineart\" layer. Get the basic colors of your subject laid out in this step. Doesn't have to be perfect, because if you keep these colors in a separate layer, you can always go back and change at a later time.\n\nStep 2\n-New layer above flat color layer and below lineart layer, set as Shade. Great for shading! (who knew?) Keep your shading simple and light at first. It's a process!\n-New layer above your Shade layer, yet still below lineart, set as Luminosity. Great for highlights! Again and as with the Shade layer, keep your highlights light in this step.\n\nStep 3\n-build on your Luminosity and Shade layers by adding more (layers). Change your background color if desired. I made it darker to make big boi Mpop out a bit more. Make your highlights stronger and your shading deeper. The idea is to make your character pop off the screen!\n-It's not a bad idea to experiment along the way! And if you're afraid of messing up your art, simply keep your experiments in separate layers; that way you can easily get rid of them, hide them, or even change the Transparency (which is a good trick I use quite often)\n\nStep 4 (final render)\n-Refine/add details, like texture. Numerous layers help make this possible. I believe this particular picture of mine was completed with 23 layers.\n-Deepen your colors, shades, and highlights!\n-I added a textured background to add to the composition. Keep experimenting, even as you're reaching the end. You'll never know what you'll come up with that'll add to your artwork. That's how you learn!\n\nTim's tip/advice: You should generally know what you're doing in terms of your brushes and layer usage, but experimenting is a big part of the creating and learning. Your ideas and goals will change along the way. You'll start out with a mental image of your final picture looking one way, but as you move forward, things will definitely turn out different.",
