way back in early 2019 i had an idea for a comic with Isolt and Yasmin, basically the two of them adventuring down in Yasmin's homelands, the eastern jungle peninsula, and getting into mischief a la El Dorado.
I got started with it but I had a major issue that I just wasn't sure what to do with: the plot.
Basically, Yasmin would have a vision of her mother calling her back home, but I just couldn't for the life of me figure out why or for what purpose.
I wanted to do a lot of things with the plot, and even researched a lot into South American mythology to give inspiration for creatures and events to happen, but I just couldn't justify the plot to myself. Plus, in the middle of it all I joined an internship in Iceland, and with everything going on I decided to shelf the comic for an undetermined amount of time.
Instead, about a year later, I decided to make Stoneheart and bring Esther's story to life.
The difference between this comic and Stoneheart however, is that with Stoneheart I actually have a strong plot and know in which direction the story will go.
With this comic I didn't really have anything except for a spontaneous idea.
I still like the idea, and personally think that Isolt and Yasmin definitely deserve to have some sort of story/adventure together, because I love the chemistry between these two characters, and the world they live in have so much potential.
But that might have to come later. I might reboot the comic at some point in the future, probably after I've finished Stoneheart, or if I ever somehow manage to find the focus and energy to juggle two comics at a time.
But for now, it will remain a work in progress. At first I didn't really think I'd ever bother to show it to people since it be ded, but I just figured that eh why the hell not? I hope it's at least a little bit entertaining~
If anything it might serve as a teaser of more things to come!
... in an undetermined amount of years that is!
There's actually a few things I'm more happy with here than in Stoneheart, mainly the pacing but also the page layouts and the way the dialogue boxes look. Might rewamp the style a bit from Chapter 3 onwards to be more like this comic, as I don't wanna make too big of an overhaul in the middle of a chapter lol
