"description": "Gini looked down at her paws, barely touching the icy cold stream beneath her.\nIt was treacherously cold. The infant sunlight danced across the calm surface and dyed it the same warm colors as the dawn, making it look inviting.\nBut the moment her paws had dipped into the water she had felt her entire body shudder from the biting cold. \n\nAnd so, she had retreated up on the nearest tree root. Letting her eyes survey the beautiful landscape.\n\nThe sky was still dark, despite the rising sun already spreading it's light over the rolling green hills and flourishing meadows.\nA few trees and their heavy leaf crowns rustled in a gentle breeze, but other than that the air was still.\n\nGuinevere closed her eyes and inhaled the scent of grass and dew, listening to the soft trickling of the stream that cut through the meadows. \nThe world around her was calm and still, yet the world inside her was a flutter.\n\nShe had come here to calm her nerves before the ceremony. To take some time to collect herself, lest she'd flee down the aisle.\nHad she been told that she would be here a few years ago, she would've never believed it.\n\nHer soft hazel eyes slowly opened.\nMarriage.\nIt was a human thing to the other kinfolk. They despised everything human, and as such marriage was a taboo thing. Another symbol of enslavement.\n\nBut to her, it was different.\nTo her, marriage was a union of two souls destined to be together. Two souls officially declaring their bond to each other, and solidifying their wish to be together. It was a symbol of love.\n\nEver since Kale rescued her, she had fought for thrallkin and humans to find common ground. \nFor humans to release and recognize thrallkin as a free and equal people, and for the kinfolk to trust and coexist with humans.\nThe road was long and far from over, but for now at least a dialogue could be opened. Humans who also wanted to free kinfolk had found a mediator in her, someone who could speak on peaceful terms with both kinfolk and humans.\n\nIt was exhausting being a diplomat, but despite being the only one for now she had never found herself becoming overwhelmed or faltering. And she knew exactly why;\nKale.\n\nHe was always there with her. Supporting her, protecting her, and loving her.\nIt was clear how much he hated and distrust the humans. She knew she couldn't even imagine the pain humans had put him through as a thrall. \nAnd yet, he seemed to trust her enough to speak with them alongside her. Joining her in her diplomacy efforts.\nShe was grateful to her mate. Beyond all else.\n\nMate. \nThat is what the kins called their lovers. It was their term for spouse.\nIt had taken her years, but some of the old thrallkin had finally began opening up for some human traditions to integrate with their own. \nShe was hoping that it would let humans see that the kinfolk too were capable of civilized conduct. At least, in what humans viewed as civilized.\n\nBut she had been surprised when Kale, following the instructions of a friendly human ally, suddenly proposed marriage to her.\nOfcourse she said yes, but ever since she had, she had been feeling almost disconnected. \n\nShe was nervous, happy, excited and sad all at the same time.\nShe hadn't dared to dream of her own wedding since she was a child. Ever since Calhoun and Thrain had taken her she was so sure she was doomed die as their slave and plaything.\nAnd after she met Kale, fell for him, and had little Katerina with him, she had been busy with her family and the rebellion. Never once spending a thought on a ceremony the kinfolk seemed to abhor anyway.\n\nBut. It was all changed now.\nHere she was.\nDressed in flowers and a light train. About to see the love of her life, and profess their bond to each other.\n\nShe wanted her parents with her. Her human parents.\nMr and Mrs an Sionnach.\nBut they were gone. Instead of her father walking her down the aisle it was going to be Faolan, a close friend of both her and Kale.\nGrief once again joined in the cluster of feelings in her gut, but it wasn't allowed to stay.\nNot today. She could grieve any other day; today was a day of joy and happiness.\n\n\"Guinevere?\" She heard Faolan's voice call her name, and she looked back.\n\nOn the meadows behind her, a gathering of mostly kinfolk, but even a couple of humans to bear witness, were excitedly gossiping and gathering for the event.\nFaolan, a slender silver fox, held Kat's little hand while waving to Gini. Kat's other hand held a small woven basket of colorful flowers. \n\n\"We're getting started! It's almost time!\" She said, and Kat tried to repeat what her auntie Faolan said in her slurry toddler speech.\n\nGini smiled widely and nodded.\nShe was ready.\n\n---\n\nfirst thing finished on the new laptop!
