“Are you still watching him?”
Alex looked up hearing the sound of his sisters voice ring out, the young vixen appearing behind him as he watched Chris and his collection of Pokemon dance and skate around on a frozen lake. The elder fox looked up with a nod then saying as he invited his sister to watch,
“What can I say that little mortal has caught my eye, there is more to this guardian master then lets on.”
His sister looked to him an eyebrow cocked, the look telling him she needed input Alex explaining as they looked down to the human and the tiny rabbit kissing on the ice,
“There is a spark in his life force, he has great potential. One day when he is ready he might make for a powerful keeper, might even rival you my cute little sister.”
The younger fox looked away a little agitated at the comparison till they saw the human come up with what would become a bad idea. Watching him talk about then convincing his companions to fight with him Alex laughed a little then said,
“Bad idea little human, in more ways then one still. . .”
Alex held out his hands then cupping three tiny flame like lights in his hands, Sara then asking,
“What are you doing?”
The elder fox said as the battle began down by the frozen lake,
“Those three females that make up his would be harem, are with child, the human as most mortals is completely clueless about that, needless to say keeping him from killing his unborn offspring with this stupid idea will not tax my power in the slightest, and will be needed to keep his story on track.”
Sara nodded then decided to watch the battle unfold, she had not seen these creatures called Pokemon fight before. The two watched from afar as the lot of them battled it out, that is to say till the one the human named Serenity got, to say the least carried away, the results of her final attack sending the human flying in the air, Sara quickly saying,
“I got a bad feeling about this.”
Alex followed along, letting go of the three flames that where clearly no longer in danger then said as he followed Chris’s ‘flight’,
“ten to one odds he lands in the lake.”
Following him falling through the air Sara said waiting for her brother to react,
“That water is cold, it’d easily kill him.”
Looking at her brother who continued to watch Sara said getting a bit antsy herself,
“You know that right? No amount of magic, no matter what its called in this world will change that you know.”
Sara looked back as there was a loud splash Alex responding only with a facepalm muttering “foolish mortal” under his breath. Watching again Sara then said knowing time was of the key here,
“Look I know you don’t like taking their achievements away from mortals, but he has nothing to gain here, if you don’t intervene, he will be killed.”
Alex nodded then said with a sigh,
“Fair point sis.”
The elder fox then rose up a pulse of power stopping everything as he examined anything he could do to change what had happened, but alas every other option he came up with at first glance would still get him killed, the water for all its cold embrace was the best option and cupping up another light Alex sighed as the world rewound, Sara then watching as once again the human hit the water Sara then shouting,
“Alex!!”
Raising his hand to show the flame clutched in it Alex said,
“Anywhere else would kill him.”
Sara sighed as they watched the three Pokemon panic as they tried to find him only to finally realize the horrid truth of where he landed leading Sara to say,
“The flame is sputtering, if this doesn’t end soon he’ll still die, don‘t you think you should do more then just holding his soul?”
Alex thought about it for a moment, the human had the right of divine intervention, still wasting it for this would be foolish. Alex grinned then said pulling him and his sister into a different phase, the terrain changing to look like a hill with a single tree on it, ninetails said with something of a panicked tone unable to hide for him she was worried about Chris,
“Why are you here?”
Alex showed her the flame in his hand, the fox sensing just what it was and who it belonged too, then baring her fangs said,
“If you’ve come to claim his soul you will have to go through me for it.”
Alex looked at the worried fox with an eyebrow raised before laughing then saying,
“As powerful as you are, you’re no match for a god, and rest assured I am protecting your important little human, not claiming him, my holding his soul is buying him time.”
The fox nodded then relaxing somewhat till Alex said,
“However, I think that for once its time you got manipulated for a change.”
The fox looked back to him worried by the tone in his voice asking him,
“What do you mean by that?”
Alex responded with,
“I’ll give you five seconds to come up with an idea to save you’re precious human.”
Ninetails then asks a wary tone ringing in her voice,
“And if I fail to do so or within the five seconds?”
Alex responded to her question with a look of pure neutrality,
“I’ll drop it.”
Referring to the fire in his hand, then saying,
“I do that, his soul goes back to his body, that happens he’ll die in moments, either to the cold of the water clinging to him, or drowning, either way he will die and seeing as how closely tied two are at this moment, you’ll do more then just feel it.”
The fox backed away as Alex counted out “five” ninetails responding with,
“You can’t be serious?”
He continued on saying “four” as a bead of sweat rolled down the back of her head the fox responding with,
“You wouldn’t really kill him.”
The elder fox then said as his hood hid his face “Three” making Ninetails panic thinking of anything that could save him, Alex then counting “Two” the smaller foxes eyes darting back and forth as she manically racked her mind for anything till Alex counted “one” she shouted,
“ELEMENTAL CHANGE!”
Looking down to her the fox then said to try and explain,
“Some Pokemon have the ability to change there elements given certain circumstances, my own kind being fire type can become ice types. Admittedly this is usually rare and hard to come by but it would save his life from the cold if he changed to the ice type!”
Alex looked down to her hiding a grin till he started chuckling the fox backing off a bit asking with a pang of worry in her voice,
“What’s so funny?”
Alex grinned at her and responded with,
“You're so Tsu Tsu, its almost cute how hard you tried to save him just now.”
The foxes face filled with a bright blush and turned away from realizing he was messing with her from the start, Alex then saying,
“Anyway knocking you down a peg aside, this elemental change will save him from the cold yes? Will it keep him from drowning?”
The fox didn’t respond giving Alex the answer he needed, said hood clad fox then looking up as Ninetails then said,
“The only problem is he’s not ready for it, I’ve been toying with training him for it, but I myself know so little of it, I thought it a bad idea when I first thought of to be honest.”
Alex nodded then said with something of a sigh,
“Well then guess I’ll just have to cheat.”
Looking back to him Ninetails saw Alex reach into Chris’s flame then say as his words echoed with power,
“Here my voice, feel my strength, let the light of hope shine bright within you mortal.”
Finding themselves back in the real world Alex’s words echoed into nothingness,
“Awaken”
Watching the three Pokemon trying to find their master in the water they suddenly panicked as the lake froze over, shouting and panicking as they one after another tried desperately to shatter the ice they feared was now entombing him, worried Sara moved to try and help, her brother had already interfered, what would her breaking the ice do? Till her brother showed her the humans flame, shining brightly. Nodding Sara relaxed then watched what unfolded as a pillar of light shone from the lake clearly her brothers doing now that she thought of it, shattering the lake he had clearly frozen over to deal with the water that threatened to drown the human, then Chris reemerging on the surface looking like, admittedly a pretty foxy aura popsicle, only to be forced to make a hasty retreat when their now shatter footing started to give way under them as they where talking about what was going on. Alex looking down to his sister then said,
“Alright sis, lets get out of here.”
Sara looked at her brother then back to the collection of mortals, asking,
“Wait don’t you want to see what happens next?”
Alex laughs then says as he conjures a portal for them to go through,
“Unless you want to see three creatures vomit, there is nothing left to bee seen here.”
Sara recoils with a look of disgust then with a prompt nod goes through the portal, Alex about to follow suit stops before saying,
“And as for the being writing this human’s story, I know I have no right to intrude, this world is of your making but, if you would allow a selfish gods request, I would love to be involved one day, your call though.”
Alex stops then says as he walks through the portal,
“As I said it is your story after all, if you wish it I shall simply remain a watcher from afar you can keep the star though, that is if Wolf here can keep his pen out of other peoples stories, which we all know by now, he can’t.”
With that the portal shuts behind him leaving the collection of beings belong to go about throwing up in the after math of their overexertion.
