Chapter 11
“Before we start this, I’d like to take a few moments to clarify something here.”
Tugging at the background like it was a backdrop for a play was Alex, the fox pulling up the background and stopping the story from starting. The fox in his usual white hooded jacket walking up to a center stage position then said with a smile on his face,
“Hey everyone out there in cyber space, how goes it?”
Quickly a white cloud like text bubble forms next to him, the fox face palming as the lone wolf picture formed in the background on the bubble, Alex then saying,
“Come now wolf can’t you give me five seconds?”
On the bubble beside him wording starts to form the text saying,
“Alex get out of here, I am trying to start the next chapter for my readers to read.”
The fox tries to blow away the bubble only for it to reform on his other side, the fox then saying with a sigh,
“Hey, if you didn’t want me doing things like this then you shouldn’t have created a self aware character, now you just sit there, keep typing on your little laptop, and be glad I’m not Deadpool.”
The bubble with a sigh like sound vanishes, the fox nodding with a ‘that’s right’ kind of attitude, then saying as he lowered his hood to show off more of his face,
“I’ll make this quick, so we can get to the story. Some of you might be wondering what happened in the last chapter, why it seemed like I had been killed in some lost battle, this was me yet it wasn’t all the same.”
Pulling out then setting up something that liked to be an official timeline that splits off into two different lines, the fox then resumes,
“You see, and this is strictly from a fourth wall perspective, is the story line his and mine, it had changed so much from what his was and mine was that Wolf decided it would be better with his more developed writing skills to do it this way, the alternate universe way, where his story was his mine was mine both the same character but still not at the same time.”
Snapping his fingers and making the time ling this vanish, he then said,
“What happened to my predecessor? I don’t know Wolf wont tell me, but from what we all have seen, it seems he lost the game. Well what ever he did wrong, what it all really is that when Wolf started writing my version he had started with the original plot of the first go around as a reference, much of the childhood arc of my story was changed very little from the source story, its everything after that point that has changed, and Wolf decided to stop borrowing from the past and ended that story, rather vicious of him don’t you think?”
Alex looks over at the chat bubble that within has a stick figure tapping his watch, Alex then saying as he lifted his hood over his head,
“Well looks like Wolf wants to get this show on the road, which he can’t with me here, two beings can’t be in the same place at the same time after all.”
With that the fox walks off stage once behind the curtains, someone can be heard asking,
“Hey did I hear someone calling my name?”
Alex promptly says as the comical stage setting vanished as Wolf tried to once more getting the setting right,
“No Deadpool no one called you. “
Everything fades to black leaving only the bubble, text then forming in it saying
‘Sorry everyone, I’ll make sure he doesn’t do that again, but regardless lets start this chapter shall we?’

There was naught but darkness, a mass less void as the world seemed to be nothing at the moment, however a voice echoed out a voice hard to hear, the voice saying as the dark void faded away,
“Don’t make my mistakes.”
The wording echoed as Alex opened his eyes, waking from a dream the fox looking around a little, he was inside of a simple house if you could even call it that, the structure was little more then of an improvement on the shack he lived in as a child, not that it was all he wanted he was just to lazy to improve it. He got up with a yawn scratching his chest a little as he woke. He looked over to his left where a plate of breakfast had served itself for him, really it was just an entertaining way for him to conjure up food, just making it appear was a little boring. The fox sat down and quickly ate up his meal before a knocking could be heard at the door, the fox asking as he went to grab up what looked to be a leather jacket,
"Who is it?"
There was a quick reply, Naruto saying from the other side,
“Its Naruto, Lady Tsunade asked me to tell you that she wanted to talk with you and some of the other leader types when you all where ready.”
Alex nods quickly getting dressed, putting on a pair of what looks to be black denim pants, something of a combat vest over a blue shirt, and a leather duster style jacket, then saying as he retrieved his sword from the side of the bed.
“Sure, will do let her know I’ll be on my way after I make my rounds.”
Naruto makes a grunt of understanding before a poof is heard, a shadow clone, The fox shaking his head then saying as he got ready to leave his little house,
“I’ll never understand some of the powers these people have.”
He left the house behind quickly, the door locking itself after he walked through it, once outside, he looked around at the world, it was so much better then it had been in months past, what was once little more then a camp had turned into something of a village, sturdy walls surrounding the entirety of it to protect from attacks. Gone where all the makeshift tents and other cloth covered areas and in their places where actual little houses. All was coming along nicely the fox thought to himself then conjuring up the crystal orb, looking at it once he had picked it up, noting the several dozen thread like life lines running from it, the fox having since discovered that these represented all the people living in this world of his, all those he needed to protect. The threads belonging to the ninjas drawing a blue substance from the orb before becoming ethereal running to the being they belonged to, others a little different then the the rest of them which drew nothing but life force from the orb. After holding then gem for a few moments and seeing everything seemed to be normal and no one seemed to be hurt the fox nodded the orb vanishing as he looked up watching a bird as it flew by. He had long since come to a point where he knew how to alter the laws of his world and as such wildlife had returned to the world, birds flew in the sky, in the forest animals and wild plants now lived, and other such necessities now could be found, it had long been since the others came to him every time supplies ran low, they didn’t need him so much anymore in that way. Alex began making his rounds in the morning, saying hello to the others, making sure the walls where still sound and that the shadow demons hadn’t been clawing at them in the night.
After an hour or two of making his rounds, making sure everything was alright the fox then proceeded to meet up with what passed for village leaders, the hokage Tsunade who had pretty much taken on the roll of head of the defense force that at the moment consisted of the three young ninja under her command and a few others including the bulk of the strawhats. The girl Kagome had taken it on herself to see that crops had been planted and other such mundane affaires where taken care of. The stawhat chief, the blond haired skirt chaser had taken in upon himself to make sure there was plenty of food ready to be eaten at a moments notice, really just wanting to seem like a righteous guy for the ladies wanting them to like him more then they probably should. Last was the Stawhat captain himself, the rubber man who, thinking himself important, shoved himself into a leader position despite the fact that all he did was eat, sleep, make an ass out of himself when he was bored, and when there was enemies to fight, fight. Alex asked as he approached the gathered group, Alex noting right off the bat the pirate captain was picking his nose, only there because the other leaders where there,
“So everyone, how goes it?”
They all went about telling him about things, Tsunade saying that she needed more of her people to safe guard the village, Kagome saying that they probably needed more seeds and animals for the farming areas, and the head chief Sanji having nothing really to complain about, his captain on the other hand loudly complained about how bored he was. The fox nodded then saying as he first looked up to the hokage,
“Alright, we’ll have to sit down to do that later, I’ll bring them in you tell them what’s going on, I think they’d trust their leader more then a strange fox creature”
He said with a laugh, Alex then saying taking up the orb as he looked to the girl Kagome,
“You should find more supplies when you get back, also there should be more animals in several pens ready for you to. . .”
The fox stopping for a moment then saying,
“Oh boy.”
The girl asked as they all looked over to the fox,
“What’s wrong?”
The fox responded with a chuckle,
“It seems your half demon boyfriend just let the chickens out . . . . and now he is now chasing them around thinking that that is the best way to deal with them.”
The girl turned pale, then quickly excusing herself to go take care of the situation before another ‘incident’ like what happen the last time she thought she could trust Inuyasha to look after things on his own for a little while; the results of that incident being that five fields to had to be replanted and a good mile of the village walls had to be replaced. With all that in order the fox excused himself from them, Lady Tsunade joining him for a short while where after a few hours of the fox using the orb to help her out, brought no less the twenty more people from her world to this one, the hokage giving him a list of names of people she wanted which after the point left her with the task of getting her subordinates caught up to speed. After having dealt with that the fox wandered about, thinking about how there was next to nothing to do hating to think the rubber man Luffy might be right, and with nothing to do decided to take a seat under a tree. The fox looked at the sky for a few moments before he called up the orb once more, the crystal sphere then hovering around his shoulder as the fox lost himself in thought. He was watching families go about their days, people talking and laughing with one another, the girl Kagome and other farmering volunteers trying to do damage control as chickens ran around the fields after the half demon Inuyasha decided to chase them around; said birds now trying their best to both get away from the red robed dog man and eat the seeds that had just been planted in the fields the other day. The fox looked up from his thoughts as a young girl walked up to him, a human with a smile from ear to ear, she handed him a flower before saying,
“Thanks for saving me the other day.”
The young girl then giggled and returned to her father, the man saying as the girl returned to his side,
“Thanks again Lord Alex, my family owes you a great debt.”
The man patting his daughter on the head and saying,
“Say bye sweetheart.”
The girl smiled then said as she and her father got ready to leave,
“bye bye Lord Alex.”
The fox looks up with one eye then saying with a blush,
“Uh . . Please don’t call me Lord Alex, I have no wish to be a king, of any kind at that.”
The man nodded with a smile then returned to his day, his cheerful daughter who had naught but a few days before had a run in with the shadow demons, a meeting that would have been fatal had Alex not rushed to the girls rescue. This little event brought what the fox was trying to figure out to the surface, why he was feeling . . So depressed, down in the dumps so to speak; everyone around him had someone to care for, families, loved ones, children and parents, everyone had someone special in their heart, but he had no one. True enough, everyone looked up to the fox and like it or not he was pretty much in the position of a king, so to speak. He was always the one people came to when they had a problem or a fight to be resolved, his word was just about law, and when shit hit the fan nearly everyone relied on his protection, but this wasn’t the same, he longed for that feeling of kinship. The fox sighed looking over to the glass orb, the clunky object just floating there, he grabbed it up for a moment then said,
“Don’t suppose I can change you into something more then just a glass ball?”
The orb blinked for a moment trying to process his vague question, till the fox then got an idea,
“I want to turn you into a different form, perhaps something of flesh, is that possible?”
The orb blinked, and within the confines of his thoughts the orb confirmed that he could indeed do what he wanted with it, The fox then saying,
“How about something along the lines of a familiar?”
The orb blinked in response seemingly having a conversation with the fox mentally, Alex finally saying,
“Alright then, show me what you can turn into.”
With that he was pulled into the white void, his inner self as he had learned what this area was, a pocket dimension within the confines of his mind. Once inside, the orb then projected a huge almost massive array of things the fox could turn the orb into, Alex then saying as things got bigger and bigger and bigger, The fox then saying in a panic,
“Crap . . .something small, something small damn it.”
The orb processed the command, limiting the selection down to small creatures, the usual house cats other small pets where there, but that’s not what he was looking for and quickly he dismissed them. He then got to what he was looking for in the category of pixies and fairies, he looked though them quickly found one actually liked, it was a small fairy that looked like a little humanoid dragon. Alex then said looking to the orb,
“I want you to turn into this one.”
With that the orb flashed and processed the request, then after processing the demand, turning into what he wanted, soon a becoming a fairy. A tiny girl with horns on her head much like a dragon and wings on her back of the same origin. Small red scales covered the sides of her torso, upper arms, and thighs, her arms and legs ending with human like hands and feet. Alex blushed a little and then promptly dressed the new little creature in a little black dress the orb not knowing any better, it was simple but it worked. With that done he looked at his creation, but all he had done was take a lifeless glass ball and turn it into a lifeless fairy, the little creature just floated there on her little wings in front of him much like it had done before, just in a prettier package. After watching it for a few moments as it just floated there Alex sighed then said returning to the real world,
“Well it’s a start, guess I shouldn’t have expected a glass ball to become a companion just because I gave it a body.”
Looking at the lifeless looking fairy he then said,
“I think now I need to give you a personality, you know sentient, pretty sure i can do that.”
Remembering what the Sara he had spent months training with said, he pictured what he wanted in his minds eye in a flash giving a rough outline of what he wanted then raised his right hand and then snapped his fingers, the little fairy gasping and opening her eyes wide . . . Before falling to the ground. Alex then saying as the little creature then coughed a little looking up at him from the dirt,
“Oh sorry about that, forgot to teach you how to fly I guess, let me fix that.”
The little fairy looked up to him as he pressed two fingers on her head, the little dragon fairy seemingly lost in thought for a few moments before she stands and dust herself off, then saying,
“So this is what you wanted master?”
The little fairy took to her wings flying up to then sitting down on the foxes shoulder, The fox then saying in turn,
“What give a guy a break I’m lonely, I just wanted someone to talk to that wasn’t a freaking glass ball.”
The little creature nodded saying,
“I guess I can’t fault you for that, but are you sure about this? A glass ball, as you put it, is a lot less work on your part, you’ll need to take care of me in a form like this I'll need to eat and other such mortal activities.”
The fox said patting the little dragon fairies head,
“I raised a little girl from the age of two when I was only five, I think I can take care of a little fairy as I am now.”
The fairy shrugged her shoulders then saying,
“Its your call master, I’m just a focal point of control.”
He nods then says,
“Yeah yeah, I know how it works by now, you are the point of which my power keeps all these people alive in this world, all their special powers and abilities are drawn from my power.”
The fairy nods in respond Alex then saying,
“Plus this way you’ll be able to keep yourself out of trouble, remember what happened last week when Naruto thought he could use you to make Sakura like him? You know what would have happened if he had gotten his hands on the glass orb you use to be?”
The fairy nods then saying,
“It would have killed him, no mortal creature can bear the weight of the world.”
Alex nods then looks up as the little fairy’s eyes dart away for a moment, the little creature then saying,
“Uh, master we have unwelcome guest in the village.”
Alex looks toward the small market place where there did seem to be a disturbance, Closing his eyes then opening them once more, his eyes covered in a black fog, he then says as he gets to his feet,
“Shadow demons made into the walls it seems, alright lets go take care of them real quick.”
The fairy nods, then flying after him when he dashed off toward the market. It takes only moments for Alex to arrive, the people in the market where pretty much normal people, none of the knew how to fight. Alex quickly discovered what had gone on, a man was on his butt in the middle of the road, having only just deflected an attack with a cooking pot. Alex knelt down a little asking as he offered the man a hand,
“Where did it go?”
The man took his hand at which point Alex pulled him to use feet, the human then saying,
“I’m not sure, it happened so fast, I was looking at a pot when it happened, had I not had it in my hand I’d most likely be dead right now.”
Alex nods he and the little fairy creature looking around Alex once more using his shadow sight as he called it, to see them, which he did, the little demons hiding from him in the shadows, Alex then saying as half a dozen fireball like projectiles formed above his hand,
“Only six of them it seems, its just a band of strays.”
Alex quickly let looks the fire bolts, each one quickly finding their marks and destroying the shadow monsters, the man from before asking,
“There isn’t anymore of them is there?”
Alex looked around for a moment, his new fairy familiar doing the same, Alex finally confident when he said,
“Yeah its all clear, seemed to be a random bunch of strays”
There was a sigh of relief from the people in the market knowing now that the shadow demons where gone, and slowly but surely everyone went back to what they where doing, Alex excusing himself once he was sure the area was safe. Alex sighed, it was the same old thing, really, some shadows would manage to get into the village, he or the defense forces would wipe them out and that would be that, it seems that without a commander the shadows where no problem, and luckily or not there was no demon roaming around strong enough to lead. Alex looked behind him as the ninja Sasuke jumped in behind him, then asking as Alex turned to see him,
“We got a report of an attack in the market place, did you take care of it?”
Alex nods saying as he waved it off as nothing,
“Yeah, you can tell Tsunade that it was only a batch of stragglers looking for an easy catch. We need to keep a sharper watch though, most of the people within the walls can’t defend themselves.”
The ninja nods then promptly vanishes leaving Alex to go back to doing what he was before which was pretty much absolutely nothing. Sitting on his shoulder once more the tiny fairy then says as she rest her wings,
“You look bored master.”
The fox laughs a little then says,
“That obvious huh?”
Alex sighs then says,
“Yeah, I guess its just a mixture of the fact that there is nothing for me to do, and no one for me to go home to.”
The fairy nods then saying as she took to her wings once more then saying trying to cheer the fox up,
“Well you turned me into someone right? I don’t still fall into the category of a freaking glass ball anymore right?”
Alex smiles for a moment then says patting her on the head lightly,
“Yeah, your not a glass ball anymore.”
As he was about to continue wandering around but suddenly he stopped, his ears perking up, he heard something, but it was faint, almost at the very edge of hearing. He stopped for a moment trying to see if it was something or if it was someone off in the distance, the little fairy asking as she saw his reaction,
“What’s wrong master?”
Alex remained quiet for a moment, till he heard it again, someone crying out for help, it was a voice that was vaguely familiar, however he was sure about one thing, the voice was calling out for help. Alex looked over for a moment seeing the blond boy odd, grabbing him up then saying,
“Hey pass on a message to the others for me will you, I’m leaving the village for a little bit but I’ll be back, there is something I need to check on.”
The boy nods with a “no problem” then leaving him behind Alex with fairy in tow quickly leaves the confines of the village walls. They made for the forest, said area much more lively then in past times he had been in there, animals running about, birds chirping in the tree tops, it was peaceful, however it was also making it hard to hear the voice. With a snap of his fingers he silenced the wildlife around him, his ears flexing a little to try and better hear the voice, and once he caught it again he followed it, slowly but surely making his way through the forest, deeper and deeper till finally after almost half an hour of looking he found something, what looked to be an entrance to an underground cavern. He decided to go in, forming a ball of fire to act as a torch. He followed to pathway down a good distance, noting along the way the metal ores embedded in the walls, he’d have to keep note of that, but that was not what he was looking for. Deeper he went, deeper still till finally he found what he was looking for, deep underground he found a large chamber, and within he saw something that made him double take, two large purple hued crystals. He approached them, the two crystals where defiantly out of place but as he got close his heart skipped a beat, there where people inside of the large gems, Alex crying out is disbelief when he saw the forms more clearly,
“Sara, Crystal!?!”
Clearing the dust off of the gems, inside of them indeed where the two female foxes from his past, his little sister Sara and the powder blue Arctic fox Crystal. Instantly he knew he had to get them out of the crystals, remembering what the others had said when they found him, he quickly pressed his hand to the surface of the gem Crystal was within, and once he did the gem cracked then slowly shattered into nothing spilling its contents safely to the floor. He grabbed the white furred fox then said trying to get her to come to,
“Crystal, wake up, come on wake up its me Alex!”
There was no response from her, however she in that moment took a deep breath, telling the worried fox that she was at the very least alive. He set her down for a moment, looking her over in the dim light of his conjured fire, and blushed a little, she had aged much like he had, and in doing so she also had . . . Filled out nicely it seemed, Alex mindlessly reaching up to feel a certain part of her chest before his fairy said giving him a dirty look,
“Master that’s highly inappropriate.”
Looking back to the little creature he then says,
“Kill Joy.”
The fairy then says turning away from him,
“Pervert”
Alex blushes all the more, gently setting her down and turning to the other crystal, Sara contained within and like with the other one he put his hand on the gemstone and much like the last one, it shattered and gently dropping Sara to the cavern floor. Something was different this time, Alex made the light from the ball of fire brighter, to make sure he wasn’t seeing things and no his eyes did not lie, the young red fox had not aged a day, something about that worried him, leading him to try and wake her, but get no response. He looked her over, there was still soot from the fire in her fur, and what to his horror was blood, the small fairy saying in a soft tone,
“Master . . . I’m sorry . . . But she’s dead.”
Alex’s eyes opened wide, he refused to believe it, he called out to her giving her a little bit of a shake, but nothing happened. Turning to his little companion he then asked in a somber tone,
“Is there nothing we can do?”
The fairy was about to say something but promptly bit her lip Alex noticing this then saying,
“There’s something we can do about it, isn’t there”
The fairy was hesitant to respond before nodding, then saying,
“There is, but . . .”
Alex then said allowing the little creature to land in the palm of his hand,
“But??”
She then responded,
“But . . Well to borrow a human term, its illegal.”
Alex thought for a few moments before saying,
“. . . I don’t care, I want her back, whatever it is, Do it”
The fairy looks around for a moment, before nodding and doing as she was told, however it was strange, suddenly from her back sprouted the dozens of life lines that tied everyone to him she then plucked one, his heart suddenly felt heavy, his whole body strangely hard to move, he then asked watching as the rest of the lines vanished,
“What are you doing?”
Following the line back to his chest, the fairy said as Alex suddenly felt a huge drain from his body almost as if half of his energy was suddenly drained away,
“I have to for the moment sever your connection to everyone else, you’ll feel a massive power drain, we don't want anyone to die after all.”
He nods already feeling strangely weak, then watched as after a moment when she had drained all the power she needed to ensure that the people connected to her would not die, she then gripped the thread connected to his chest, and in one move ripped it out. He felt a sudden immense pain fill all of his senses, then watched with the growing pain as the fairy worked fast grabbing both ends of his life line,
“Need to work fast, the only reason you’re not dead yet is because of your immense power, not many creatures can survive for long without their life line.”
He nodded, every second that he line was removed felt as though water was spilling from a hole in his chest. The fairy quickly secured his life line between two points before she quickly cut it down the middle, The fairy then saying as she reattached one half of the now split line to his chest and her back,
“What we’re doing now, is against everything those before set into the rules you know, you'd be heavily punished if they where still here”
He nodded slowly the pain from before beginning to fade, he then watched as she reattached the other half on his line to his chest then connected it to Sara’s chest watching as the line quickly went from a white color to a red, once the whole of it then red, the young vixen sputtered a little coughing violently before finally taking a breath. After several moments of this her breathing finally stabilized, the fairy then saying in a hushed tone as to not let anyone hear her,
“You both now share your life-force directly, if you die from this point on she’ll go with you.”
Alex nods then asks looking to the young fox who was now breathing normally,
“Is there anything we can do to change that?”
The fairy thought about it for a moment before saying,
“Well . . . Yes, that would involve retrieving her life line from the other side, but that once again is . . .”
Alex cuts her off then says,
“I get it Taboo.”
The fairy nods, Alex then saying with a sigh as the altered life lines then faded,
“For now, all I care about this that she is alive. Lets get them back to the village.”
The fairy nods watching as He picked up the two girls, one over each shoulder, and with the fairy girl leading the way, left the cavern behind. It was a good fifteen minutes later when he once again returned to the village, seeming that his sudden departure and vague message had worried everyone as they all stood there waiting for him. He asked as he walked in with the girls on his shoulders,
“. . . Why is everyone just standing here?”
Tsunade said as she walked up offering to help him out with one of the girls,
“You had everyone worried, just taking off like that like you did. Anyway care to tell us what you found?”
As he handed Crystal to her he said,
“Well that is Crystal.”
And motioning to Sara that he now held against his chest like one would hold a young child,
“And this is my baby sister Sara, I found them stashed away in the same purple crystals like the one they found me in.”
He quickly told everyone that things where all right at which point everyone then left to go back to what they where doing before, Alex taking the two slumbering vixens back home to eagerly wait for them to wake up.
