I love the idea of cute furry characters that also happen to be aliens. And now I finally have one! Still need to think of an actual name for the species, though. Also mulling over his physiology a bit. This art doesn't show it, but I'd like him to have more visible bits, obviously. Maybe the front facing image just has him using some holographic projector to hide them or something. Not to mention I noticed there's no visible mouth. Trying to decide if it's just a lack of lips that makes it blend in, or maybe he just doesn't have one on his face, and instead eats with his tail. I kinda want to give him a mouth though. Definitely gonna have fun working with the tail though. And the little antennae on his ears. ^^ Maybe he has an extra sense, or something.
This is just tentative lore that I'm throwing together right now before I head to bed. I'll come back and clean it up, add details, etc. later.
I'm thinking his backstory is that his species is an advanced race that likes to visit less-developed worlds the same way we might visit, say, a state park, or go on a safari in the jungle- but with more stealth in order to avoid spooking the locals, of course. His parents were probably visiting on one such expedition, but he was in stasis at the time. Unfortunately, something happened to the parents, and he was automatically released after a set amount of time, only to see certain systems in the ship in a somewhat damaged state from unknown causes. And strangely, some of his memories are a little hazy. The onboard AI takes over the task of looking after him as best it can. But eventually, he sees no choice but to venture out and look for his folks, as well as find resources and supplies. Though he initially observes the locals cautiously from a distance, he eventually gets spotted by some local youngsters, who are fascinated by him. And the adventures and shenanigans flow from there~
