Lai'k's early career would see him being instrumental in a crisis involving an AI, his actions saving both the AI and the ship as well. More recently he participated and lead the study of a small Iconian Gate found in outer regions of the Beta Quadrant. The Gate activated during the study and deposited a human from 2020's Earth before blowing out and causing the collapse of the facility. Several months later the Levana would experience and event which would transform it's crew into regressed anthropomorphic life forms. Lai'k has managed to cope well with this having previously had interest in infantile forms of recreation and relaxation as a means of helping to even out and express his emotions in a safe manner.
