I was unimpressed by all of the \"alien\" concepts which to me all looked like they'd either belonged in a vampire movie or something like The Cave. Winner of the contest looked almost exactly like a subsider from Daybreakers. Well at any rate as always with new species Codex entry on the species then info on the individual in the pic.\n\nThe Squawvin are a hexapoidal species native to the planet Squawlara. They emerged as a space fairing race approximately 5,000 years ago upon their discovery of FTL flight. They had been active within their own home system for several centuries before that however. Their history goes back much further than human history with a great deal of fallen civilizations and ages of conflict which culminated in their last great war approximately 7,000 years ago. After which time their species was decimated and spent at least a millennium rebuilding. Since that time they have stood as a united species. Their main drive in space is colonization of uninhabited worlds and exploration. Squawvin have a keen sens of smell having external olfactory organs growing from just above their nose near their eyes. They also possess superior hearing able to produce and detect sounds well out of the range of human hearing. Vision is similar to humans though they can see greater distance and even a bit into the UV spectrum.\n\nBicklin smiled as he walked down the boardwalk on a warm summer's day. He couldn't help but smile a bit watching the various humans pass him by. There were so many and so varied. Bicklin was having quite a good time. He quite enjoyed visiting other worlds. It got him credit towards his degrees in xeno anthropology and biology. It didn't really bother him much that Earth being a relatively new comer to the galaxy wasn't set up to easily accommodate his species. The differences made his stay all the more fascinating. He even practically forgot about the absorbant garment he wore under his clothes. He'd discovered this was the best option when traveling to new worlds that didn't have restroom facilities that would accommodate a hexapod. Sure it made him feel a bit childish but that gave him a bit of a rush as well and just seemed to enrich the experience.
