Hopefully it won't take as logn with the next one.\n\nLucas Howlton had always wanted to be a cop. His uncle had been on the force and his father always spoke highly of him. He never got to join himself due to a heart condition which made it too risky. But Lucas could. He was ecstatic when he graduated the academy and got his badge. He remembered seeing his family in the crowd before them on graduation day and how proud each of them were of him. He really did love the job. He was a good judge of character. He was strong and fast on his feet with a sharp mind and his nose never missed a thing. Though sometimes he wished it would. It was late in the Rainforest District, the scents of rain, wet fur, and a thousand plants met his nose. However all these smells plus being at least twenty feet above the primary crime scene still didn't block out THAT smell. Death. It was something Lucas never really got used to. Which he supposed was a good thing.\n\n\"How far down you think that is?\" His elephant partner asked him as she looked down past the broken walk way guard.\n\n\"I dunno Sue. Probably about Twenty feet.\" Lucas told her scrunching his nose a moment glancing at the broken walkway guard and then back at the small crowd just outside the crime scene tape.\n\n\"Still small it all the way up here too?\" Sue asked seeing the look on her partner's face. \"Just be glad we're up here and not down there. I can see a streak of red up here already.\"\n\n\"Point taken. It's always worse when your on top of it. Poor guy.\" Lucas sighed keeping an eye on the crowd which was mostly looking over the guard farther down past the cordoned off area at the scene below.\n\n\"Hope the guy had idea on him. Given the amount of blood down there I'd say he landed on his face. Not a graceful way to go. Hope the perp left something on him.\" Sue commented looking from the scene below to the crowd around them.\n\n\"If not that means we'll have something to Al to do.\" Lucas said with a smile as he thought about his little brother. Alex or \"Al\" was a Sketch Artist for the ZPD and did facial reconstructions too. Service of one form or another seemed to run int he family.\n\n\"Heh be nearly as good as a photo then.\" Sue smiled as she watched Lucas start to walk the perimeter of the area nodding to her assessment of his brother's skills as he looked over to a familiar pair of officers over by the crowd taking statements.
