Since the defeat of Kuja and the resurgence of Mist from the Iifa Tree onto the entire world of Gaia, the skies everywhere looked more and more gloomy and dreary.  Despite this, life went on for all of the planet and in some places made life easier again.  Even though travel had become more treacherous with dark demonic spawns of the Mist in the form of dragon zombies, mistodons and hecteyes littering the landscape, many machines that relied upon the Mist to operate had become alive with service once again.  Airships requiring the soul-containing vapor were able to operate again to bring people from one place to another.\nHere though, on the Outer Continent, life continued on for the scant few residents that called the barren landscape home…  the largest concentration of life being the dwarves of the treeroot settlement Conde Petie and less than a dozen moogles living in the lost summoner village of Madain Sari.  Vivi Ornitier, a short and small black mage with a slightly chubby build was heading through the forest to a place he was finally able to call home, a place that not only people like himself, but also rescued souls from the destroyed world of Terra resided, a hidden and secret place deep in the woods where the owls don’t live, called Black Mage Village.  He strode gently with a stick over his shoulder carrying a bag full of food and goods from his travels he wanted to bring with him to the village upon his return.  \nIt had been two months since he had left the village last since Kuja’s defeat, and he had spent the time traveling the world of Gaia to experience places he had gone to with his other friends and team members in what became a quest for many different reasons for everyone.  For him, it was a journey of discovering who and what he was… and what he learned was not an entirely positive outlook or past history, but he went on ahead in life to be his best as his friend Zidane Tribal had taught him to.  \nOnce he had approached what appeared to be a line of dead and dying standing trees he waved his arm in front of it and recited a spell that made the forest suddenly appear alive, then stepped forward to continue on his path.  To anyone that would have followed him, it would’ve then looked as if he had been transported to an entirely different area, as the forest then appeared dead again.  A short walk in and he could see the pathway leading into the village, the few standing round huts that comprised of the weapons shop, item shop, chocobo stable, the inn and the synthesist shop.  “Hey look!  Master Vivi is back everybody!” shouted a bigger and taller back mage as he greeted Vivi in.\n“Hi there, Mr 288,” Vivi said in his gentle, sweet and youthful voice.  “It’s wonderful to be back home.  I have so much to share and teach everybody,” he continued.  \n“I'm sure there will be a lot to tell, my good friend,” Mr 288 said.  “For now, let us get you to the inn so you can unpack and rest for a while.  We shall all gather round the fire pit by the cemetery for food and drink tonight.”\n“Sounds good to me,” Vivi said.  “How has life been here?  Are you all and the Genomes getting along well?”\n“They have been such a blessing and very welcome addition to our community since you brought them here,” Mr 288 said.  “Life has been so much more bearable and enjoyable with them.”\n“I totally agree,” a female voice said as Mr 288 and Vivi walked towards the inn, the voice belonging to a skinny female about 5 foot 8 with blonde hair and a simian tail of similar color.  \n“Hi there, Mikoto,” Vivi said, walking over to her and offering her a hug, which she graciously accepted.  Mikoto was a leader of a group of human-like beings that escaped the community of Bran Bal on the planet of Terra when Vivi and Zidane and company departed two months prior.  “Some things have been a little bit of a challenge for us to adjust to, but the black mages here have been more than helpful in making us feel at home here on Gaia.”\n“That is so amazing,” Vivi said happily.  “I'm sure Zidane would be proud to hear this if he were here still.”\n“Do you know what happened to him, Master Vivi?” Mr 288 asked.  “You said he ran back into the Iifa Tree after he sensed Kuja’s life force still in the tree, correct?”\n“That is as much as I know, sadly,” Vivi said, tiling his head down a little in sadness.  “I have not seen or heard of him since then.”  A sullen mood filled the air around them for a brief moment before Vivi lifted up his head again.  “Anyways, I should unpack and rest for a bit.  I'd be happy to share my stories with everyone at the fire pit during and after dinner tonight.”\n“We will all be looking forward to it, my friend,” Mr 288 said with a nod, Mikoto nodding in agreement.\n\n[center]~ * ~[/center]\n\nAfter a couple hours of rest, Vivi left the Inn and proceeded to the town center between all of the shops and the cemetery where several of the brethren of the Black Mages rest in peace.  All of the Black Mages knew their time was inevitable to pass on soon after learning that their sole purpose in creation was to be an instrument of war.  Those that lived in the village were all those who gained a consciousness about themselves and escaped, wanting a better and more peaceful life for themselves, initially to be apart from the human race.  They were conned into more acts of violence by Kuja when he promised an extension on their lives, but it turned out to be a vicious lie, hardening their mistrust in the human race even further, but they did remain loyal to Vivi and his companions he traveled with, for they showed a pure heart in wanting to stop Kuja and his evil deeds.  \nIn the end, Kuja’s defeat, along with the destruction of the Soulcage within the Iifa Tree stopping the flow of the mist temporarily, helped ease the minds of all the Black Mages knowing there would be no more of them to be created to become weapons of war and violence.  They had decided to embrace and cherish the little bit of time they had left on Gaia and decided to host the Genomes of Terra and help them begin a cooperative between humans and black mages to help make the world a better place for everyone.  \nEveryone sat around a round campfire where a spit holding a large griffin carcass caught earlier in the day was being roasted, along with pots and pans of other various foods from the area were being cooked.  One pot had mashed potatoes from the nearby garden and another had a vegetable medley from the nearby dwarven settlement of Conde Petie cooking in it.  The sun was setting with the twin moons high in the sky when they all sat down and ate together, as had become their usual routine for supper.  \nWhen it was Vivi’s chance to speak, he told of the many tales he embarked on with everyone he knew and trusted and considered family of his own.  He also told them about the many places he had visited all over Gaia… how dark, yet bustling and lively a city that Treno was… how populated and beautiful the walled kingdom city of Lindblum was with it’s boon to technological advancement… and how regal, pure and clean the city of Alexandria was, and the fact that the woman they met and knew as Dagger had ascended to the throne as Queen of the kingdom and vowed for peace for all everywhere.  \nIt then came down to the important question everyone was wanting to know the most…  “What happened to Kuja?” Asked Mr 192, the owner of the Black Cat Synthesis Shop.\n“We defeated him and took him out of power,” Vivi stated calmly,  “Zidane did feel his presence in the roots of the Iifa Tree before we all parted ways a couple months ago, but…”\n“I sensed his life form stop at that time,” Mikoto said.  “Kuja is no more.  We all needn't worry about him anymore.”\nA calm hushed silence filled the atmosphere as many sighed in relief, nodding in affirmation to the good news.\n“He did say that we were all created from the Mist…. right….?” Asked Mr 111, one of the chocobo shack ranchers.\n“That is true,” Vivi said.  “So in theory, if we were to discover the right spells and magic that created us, we could create more of us to live on and flourish.”\n“Us Genomes were also created,” Mikoto said.  “Not with Mist, but a more complicated scientific cloning process.”\n“Is that… how humans are created?” asked Mr 239, the weapons shop operator.\n“I'm not sure,” Vivi said, shaking his head a little and looking down at the fire pit as the flames lit up and warmed the area all around them in the gentle night air.  “I'm not sure as to how they do it, other than needing a male and a female to accomplish it.  The only thing I know about human relations is… when they… fall in love.”\nEveryone’s eyes opened up a little in curiosity to Vivi’s words, heads tilting here and there.  “L-love? That sounds like another scary thing…” commented Mr 32, the other worker in the synthesis shop.\n“It may be for some who have never experienced it personally, but it’s really not designed to be,” Vivi replied.  “I’ve read about it in some of the plays and literature written by the famous poet, Lord Avon.  Particularly his most popular plays ‘I Want To Be Your Canary’ and ‘Wish Upon A Star’,” Vivi said. “The best way I can describe it in a brief sense… is when two people really care for each other so much… a very strong emotional and physical bond develops between them.”\n“Did you… actually… find love, Master Vivi?” Mr 288 asked in curiosity.\nVivi’s heart then beat a little faster as his mind was taken back to an event almost three months ago, the memory being one he would cherish forever, a smile forming on his black and featureless face.  “...I did, actually.”\nQuiet murmuring escaped the lips of several at the campfire, many of the Genomes who resembled Zidane’s likeness looking at each other with smiles and holding hands as Vivi spoke on.  “Could you… please tell us about your experience, Vivi?” Mikoto asked sweetly,\n“Sure, I don’t mind,” Vivi said, his head tilting up to look upon the twin full moons above them.  “It was the most beautiful day…of my short life…”\n\n–Alexandria, ten weeks prior, three days before the coronation of Queen Garnet–\n\nThe mid-morning skies over Alexandria were clear and warm, not a trace of Mist in the area to be seen either.  The party had recently returned from the Outer Continent after a brief battle took place on the western fringes of the continent between Queen Brahne and Kuja.  A power struggle between the two resulted in the casting of the great dragon king Bahamut after it was extracted along with many other Eidolons from Princess Garnet’s body by Zorn and Thorn.  Kuja had used the power of the great battleship Invincible to reverse Bahamut into turning on his caster and ended up wiping out the Alexandrian naval fleet, Queen Brahne barely escaping alive.  She was found that evening beside her escape pod on the shores by the Iifa Tree by Zidane and company, Princess Garnet spending a short time with Brahne, whom Garnet had learned in her travels and memories from the summoner village of Madain Sari, to be her adoptive mother before she passed away.\nThey all returned to Alexandria on Brahne’s escape vessel the next day.  The journey and several of the plans and intentions in motion were largely put on hold or had ended, as Garnet’s purpose for leaving the kingdom for Lindblum had been resolved, and she had recalled all Alexandrian  troops from the kingdoms of Lindblum and Burmecia to return home.  But all was not well for everyone, for Garnet returned to her normal life in the royal family, not only trying to return to behaving and talking like a Princess again, but she was now in line to ascend to the throne as the new Queen of Alexandria.  This meant that everyone she had been traveling with except for Steiner and General Beatrix were not going to be around her anymore.  \nThis had put a huge stake into the heart of the team leader, Zidane Tribal who had quickly fallen for Princess Garnet in their travels, much more than any other girl he had been with before in his life.  He had taken a seat in the local tavern and sat down for a meal and a drink early that morning and stayed there, his mind stuck on Garnet the entire time, struggling to get into a life without her now that she would not be around him anymore.  He said very little to anyone, even his brethren in the Tantalus Theatre Troupe who were standing around him trying to cheer him up.\n“Things will be okay, man,” Blank said, trying to console him while Marcus sat by his side quietly.\n“That’s right, darlin, you’ll be back on your feet and happy again in no time,” Ruby said in her accent that sounded funny to all the others.  “And you'll be able to find someone else while we all hang out and try to be our best.”  Zidane only sighed and remained quiet to them all as he leaned over the table, head resting over his crossed arms in depression.  “Listen hon, we’re gonna head to the mini theatre for now.  If you feel like joining up with us later, just feel free to come on by, okay?” She said sweetly.  Again, Zidane gave no verbal response as Ruby, Blank and Marcus slowly exited the tavern and walked out onto the streets of Alexandria.\n“Wow… he is really torn up,” Marcus said softly.\n“Tell me about it,” Blank replied.  “I’ve never seen him this bad after breaking up with a girl.”\n“Wouldn’t exactly call it a breakup, but I know what ya mean, bro” Marcus said.\n“He’ll get through this, you watch,” Blank said confidently.  “It’ll be a big test for him, but he’s been through some pretty harsh things before.”\nRuby pranced and skipped her way along the streets to the mini theatre she now ran leaving Blank and Marcus behind, the two men walking side by side along the street as they noticed Vivi coming out of the weapons shop up the street.  \n“Hey there, Vivi!” Blank called out.\nVivi then turned to the source of the voice and waved softly.  “Hi there, Blank,” Vivi replied, joining him and Marcus as they walked.  “How’ve you been since getting out of the Evil Forest?”  \n“Been walking and exercising some more to get all the soreness out of my body, but good overall,” Blank said. “I definitely don’t recommend getting turned into stone to anyone.”\n“I can’t blame you.  Say, have you seen Zidane?” Vivi asked.\n“Ehh… yyyyeah, he’s back in the tavern, but I’d leave him be for a while, if I were you,” Blank said.\n“He’s pretty broken up about not being able to be around Dagger after she came back to the castle and is about to become Queen,” Marcus explained.\n“Oh… that would be hard… I mean, I guess… I’ve never been in a relationship before…” Vivi said softly, his head tilting down towards the cobblestone walkway as they all continued to walk.  \nThose words grabbed Blank in a mode of concern for Vivi.  He then nudged Marcus by the side, signaling he’d catch up with him and Ruby at the mini theatre later and then bent down to become more level-eyed with Vivi as they both stopped walking for a bit.  “Oh?  Are you seeing anybody at all?  I could help you if you wanted me to arrange a hook-up…” Blank offered.\nVivi stood motionless for a few seconds before shrugging.  “I dunno if I’ll have the time…” he said in a depressed tone.\n“What do you mean?” Blank asked in confusion.\nVivi took a slow, nervous deep breath as he slowly looked up to Blank.  “Well… in my journeys with Zidane and Garnet… I've found out more about myself… I was manufactured in an underground production plant in Dali… I was one of the first prototype Black Mages destined solely to become an instrument of war.  The fact I was one of the first means my life span may be slightly longer than all the rest there are… but I may only live to a year and a half at best… and I came to consciousness about 6 months ago,” Vivi explained, the words making Blank feel really sad for Vivi.  “So as much as I would love to find someone… and be with them for a long time… I wouldn’t be able to spend much time with them before I pass on…”\nBlank knelt by Vivi’s side for a while as they remained in the middle of the walkway before softly putting his hand on Vivi’s shoulder like a friend.  “Well… sometimes, all it takes for someone to really feel good is just one special day, you know,” Blank said with a smile.  Then a thought popped into his head.  “In fact… what do you think of Ruby?” He asked.\nVivi giggled and let out a soft yet adorable squee of delight at the thought of Ruby.  “Hehehe… she is incredibly pretty… and I do like her accent,” Vivi said.\nBlank chuckled at Vivi’s words, knowing that everyone in Tantalus made a habit once in the past of mocking Ruby for her accent only for her to get even with her own pranks against them.  “Hehe, yeah she is a really special gal,” Blank said.  “Y’know… IF you want... and I don’t wanna pressure or force you into anything, this is just a thought… but if you want, I could ask Ruby if she would be interested in being with you for a while?” Blank offered.\nVivi’s heart picked up speed as Ruby’s beautiful face entered his mind again.  “Ooohhh… I… I think I would like that, yeah… I'd be too nervous to ask her on my own, I think…”\n“Okay!  Well, she should be putting on a play here pretty soon, so if you want, we could head to her mini theatre now and see what she says.  It'll give you a chance to relax for an hour or two during the play beforehand,” Blank suggested.\n“O-okay!  Sounds good,” Vivi said as Blank stood up and walked with him the rest of the way to the mini theatre.  They headed west down another street from the market square in the center of town where the ticket booth was for the play I Want To Be Your Canary several weeks ago. They then descended a flight of stairs on the right of the street into a lower level saloon with a stage and several round tables and chairs. \nIn the front area near the admissions and ticketing booth stood Ruby, looking as lovely as ever in her outfit. Thankfully, Mr 163 had forgotten all about the loss of the belt by that time.\nVivi then pulled out a book he snuck out of the Desert Palace formerly occupied by Kuja, and began to read, hoping to find some sort of spell, instruction or some manner of creation that may have been used to create them all.  He read earnestly for many moments that night, making it his study for many days to come.\n\n--9 months later--\n\nVivi lay on his bed in the midday panting slowly, his breathing slow and deep, his heart starting to slow.  He had begun to feel more tired and weaker in the last few days, knowing that his time was nearing an end from all that he understood about himself. shouted a bigger and taller back mage as he greeted Vivi in.<br />&ldquo;Hi there, Mr 288,&rdquo; Vivi said in his gentle, sweet and youthful voice.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;It&rsquo;s wonderful to be back home.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have so much to share and teach everybody,&rdquo; he continued.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;I&#039;m sure there will be a lot to tell, my good friend,&rdquo; Mr 288 said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;For now, let us get you to the inn so you can unpack and rest for a while.&nbsp;&nbsp;We shall all gather round the fire pit by the cemetery for food and drink tonight.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Sounds good to me,&rdquo; Vivi said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;How has life been here?&nbsp;&nbsp;Are you all and the Genomes getting along well?&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;They have been such a blessing and very welcome addition to our community since you brought them here,&rdquo; Mr 288 said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Life has been so much more bearable and enjoyable with them.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;I totally agree,&rdquo; a female voice said as Mr 288 and Vivi walked towards the inn, the voice belonging to a skinny female about 5 foot 8 with blonde hair and a simian tail of similar color.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Hi there, Mikoto,&rdquo; Vivi said, walking over to her and offering her a hug, which she graciously accepted.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mikoto was a leader of a group of human-like beings that escaped the community of Bran Bal on the planet of Terra when Vivi and Zidane and company departed two months prior.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Some things have been a little bit of a challenge for us to adjust to, but the black mages here have been more than helpful in making us feel at home here on Gaia.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;That is so amazing,&rdquo; Vivi said happily.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&#039;m sure Zidane would be proud to hear this if he were here still.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Do you know what happened to him, Master Vivi?&rdquo; Mr 288 asked.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;You said he ran back into the Iifa Tree after he sensed Kuja&rsquo;s life force still in the tree, correct?&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;That is as much as I know, sadly,&rdquo; Vivi said, tiling his head down a little in sadness.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I have not seen or heard of him since then.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;A sullen mood filled the air around them for a brief moment before Vivi lifted up his head again.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Anyways, I should unpack and rest for a bit.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&#039;d be happy to share my stories with everyone at the fire pit during and after dinner tonight.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;We will all be looking forward to it, my friend,&rdquo; Mr 288 said with a nod, Mikoto nodding in agreement.<br /><br /><div class='align_center'>~ * ~</div><br /><br />After a couple hours of rest, Vivi left the Inn and proceeded to the town center between all of the shops and the cemetery where several of the brethren of the Black Mages rest in peace.&nbsp;&nbsp;All of the Black Mages knew their time was inevitable to pass on soon after learning that their sole purpose in creation was to be an instrument of war.&nbsp;&nbsp;Those that lived in the village were all those who gained a consciousness about themselves and escaped, wanting a better and more peaceful life for themselves, initially to be apart from the human race.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were conned into more acts of violence by Kuja when he promised an extension on their lives, but it turned out to be a vicious lie, hardening their mistrust in the human race even further, but they did remain loyal to Vivi and his companions he traveled with, for they showed a pure heart in wanting to stop Kuja and his evil deeds.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />In the end, Kuja&rsquo;s defeat, along with the destruction of the Soulcage within the Iifa Tree stopping the flow of the mist temporarily, helped ease the minds of all the Black Mages knowing there would be no more of them to be created to become weapons of war and violence.&nbsp;&nbsp;They had decided to embrace and cherish the little bit of time they had left on Gaia and decided to host the Genomes of Terra and help them begin a cooperative between humans and black mages to help make the world a better place for everyone.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Everyone sat around a round campfire where a spit holding a large griffin carcass caught earlier in the day was being roasted, along with pots and pans of other various foods from the area were being cooked.&nbsp;&nbsp;One pot had mashed potatoes from the nearby garden and another had a vegetable medley from the nearby dwarven settlement of Conde Petie cooking in it.&nbsp;&nbsp;The sun was setting with the twin moons high in the sky when they all sat down and ate together, as had become their usual routine for supper.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />When it was Vivi&rsquo;s chance to speak, he told of the many tales he embarked on with everyone he knew and trusted and considered family of his own.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also told them about the many places he had visited all over Gaia&hellip; how dark, yet bustling and lively a city that Treno was&hellip; how populated and beautiful the walled kingdom city of Lindblum was with it&rsquo;s boon to technological advancement&hellip; and how regal, pure and clean the city of Alexandria was, and the fact that the woman they met and knew as Dagger had ascended to the throne as Queen of the kingdom and vowed for peace for all everywhere.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />It then came down to the important question everyone was wanting to know the most&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;What happened to Kuja?&rdquo; Asked Mr 192, the owner of the Black Cat Synthesis Shop.<br />&ldquo;We defeated him and took him out of power,&rdquo; Vivi stated calmly,&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Zidane did feel his presence in the roots of the Iifa Tree before we all parted ways a couple months ago, but&hellip;&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;I sensed his life form stop at that time,&rdquo; Mikoto said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Kuja is no more.&nbsp;&nbsp;We all needn&#039;t worry about him anymore.&rdquo;<br />A calm hushed silence filled the atmosphere as many sighed in relief, nodding in affirmation to the good news.<br />&ldquo;He did say that we were all created from the Mist&hellip;. right&hellip;.?&rdquo; Asked Mr 111, one of the chocobo shack ranchers.<br />&ldquo;That is true,&rdquo; Vivi said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;So in theory, if we were to discover the right spells and magic that created us, we could create more of us to live on and flourish.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Us Genomes were also created,&rdquo; Mikoto said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Not with Mist, but a more complicated scientific cloning process.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Is that&hellip; how humans are created?&rdquo; asked Mr 239, the weapons shop operator.<br />&ldquo;I&#039;m not sure,&rdquo; Vivi said, shaking his head a little and looking down at the fire pit as the flames lit up and warmed the area all around them in the gentle night air.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&#039;m not sure as to how they do it, other than needing a male and a female to accomplish it.&nbsp;&nbsp;The only thing I know about human relations is&hellip; when they&hellip; fall in love.&rdquo;<br />Everyone&rsquo;s eyes opened up a little in curiosity to Vivi&rsquo;s words, heads tilting here and there.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;L-love? That sounds like another scary thing&hellip;&rdquo; commented Mr 32, the other worker in the synthesis shop.<br />&ldquo;It may be for some who have never experienced it personally, but it&rsquo;s really not designed to be,&rdquo; Vivi replied.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve read about it in some of the plays and literature written by the famous poet, Lord Avon.&nbsp;&nbsp;Particularly his most popular plays &lsquo;I Want To Be Your Canary&rsquo; and &lsquo;Wish Upon A Star&rsquo;,&rdquo; Vivi said. &ldquo;The best way I can describe it in a brief sense&hellip; is when two people really care for each other so much&hellip; a very strong emotional and physical bond develops between them.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Did you&hellip; actually&hellip; find love, Master Vivi?&rdquo; Mr 288 asked in curiosity.<br />Vivi&rsquo;s heart then beat a little faster as his mind was taken back to an event almost three months ago, the memory being one he would cherish forever, a smile forming on his black and featureless face.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;...I did, actually.&rdquo;<br />Quiet murmuring escaped the lips of several at the campfire, many of the Genomes who resembled Zidane&rsquo;s likeness looking at each other with smiles and holding hands as Vivi spoke on.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Could you&hellip; please tell us about your experience, Vivi?&rdquo; Mikoto asked sweetly,<br />&ldquo;Sure, I don&rsquo;t mind,&rdquo; Vivi said, his head tilting up to look upon the twin full moons above them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;It was the most beautiful day&hellip;of my short life&hellip;&rdquo;<br /><br />&ndash;Alexandria, ten weeks prior, three days before the coronation of Queen Garnet&ndash;<br /><br />The mid-morning skies over Alexandria were clear and warm, not a trace of Mist in the area to be seen either.&nbsp;&nbsp;The party had recently returned from the Outer Continent after a brief battle took place on the western fringes of the continent between Queen Brahne and Kuja.&nbsp;&nbsp;A power struggle between the two resulted in the casting of the great dragon king Bahamut after it was extracted along with many other Eidolons from Princess Garnet&rsquo;s body by Zorn and Thorn.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kuja had used the power of the great battleship Invincible to reverse Bahamut into turning on his caster and ended up wiping out the Alexandrian naval fleet, Queen Brahne barely escaping alive.&nbsp;&nbsp;She was found that evening beside her escape pod on the shores by the Iifa Tree by Zidane and company, Princess Garnet spending a short time with Brahne, whom Garnet had learned in her travels and memories from the summoner village of Madain Sari, to be her adoptive mother before she passed away.<br />They all returned to Alexandria on Brahne&rsquo;s escape vessel the next day.&nbsp;&nbsp;The journey and several of the plans and intentions in motion were largely put on hold or had ended, as Garnet&rsquo;s purpose for leaving the kingdom for Lindblum had been resolved, and she had recalled all Alexandrian&nbsp;&nbsp;troops from the kingdoms of Lindblum and Burmecia to return home.&nbsp;&nbsp;But all was not well for everyone, for Garnet returned to her normal life in the royal family, not only trying to return to behaving and talking like a Princess again, but she was now in line to ascend to the throne as the new Queen of Alexandria.&nbsp;&nbsp;This meant that everyone she had been traveling with except for Steiner and General Beatrix were not going to be around her anymore.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />This had put a huge stake into the heart of the team leader, Zidane Tribal who had quickly fallen for Princess Garnet in their travels, much more than any other girl he had been with before in his life.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had taken a seat in the local tavern and sat down for a meal and a drink early that morning and stayed there, his mind stuck on Garnet the entire time, struggling to get into a life without her now that she would not be around him anymore.&nbsp;&nbsp;He said very little to anyone, even his brethren in the Tantalus Theatre Troupe who were standing around him trying to cheer him up.<br />&ldquo;Things will be okay, man,&rdquo; Blank said, trying to console him while Marcus sat by his side quietly.<br />&ldquo;That&rsquo;s right, darlin, you&rsquo;ll be back on your feet and happy again in no time,&rdquo; Ruby said in her accent that sounded funny to all the others.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;And you&#039;ll be able to find someone else while we all hang out and try to be our best.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Zidane only sighed and remained quiet to them all as he leaned over the table, head resting over his crossed arms in depression.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Listen hon, we&rsquo;re gonna head to the mini theatre for now.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you feel like joining up with us later, just feel free to come on by, okay?&rdquo; She said sweetly.&nbsp;&nbsp;Again, Zidane gave no verbal response as Ruby, Blank and Marcus slowly exited the tavern and walked out onto the streets of Alexandria.<br />&ldquo;Wow&hellip; he is really torn up,&rdquo; Marcus said softly.<br />&ldquo;Tell me about it,&rdquo; Blank replied.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve never seen him this bad after breaking up with a girl.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Wouldn&rsquo;t exactly call it a breakup, but I know what ya mean, bro&rdquo; Marcus said.<br />&ldquo;He&rsquo;ll get through this, you watch,&rdquo; Blank said confidently.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;It&rsquo;ll be a big test for him, but he&rsquo;s been through some pretty harsh things before.&rdquo;<br />Ruby pranced and skipped her way along the streets to the mini theatre she now ran leaving Blank and Marcus behind, the two men walking side by side along the street as they noticed Vivi coming out of the weapons shop up the street.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Hey there, Vivi!&rdquo; Blank called out.<br />Vivi then turned to the source of the voice and waved softly.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Hi there, Blank,&rdquo; Vivi replied, joining him and Marcus as they walked.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;How&rsquo;ve you been since getting out of the Evil Forest?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Been walking and exercising some more to get all the soreness out of my body, but good overall,&rdquo; Blank said. &ldquo;I definitely don&rsquo;t recommend getting turned into stone to anyone.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;I can&rsquo;t blame you.&nbsp;&nbsp;Say, have you seen Zidane?&rdquo; Vivi asked.<br />&ldquo;Ehh&hellip; yyyyeah, he&rsquo;s back in the tavern, but I&rsquo;d leave him be for a while, if I were you,&rdquo; Blank said.<br />&ldquo;He&rsquo;s pretty broken up about not being able to be around Dagger after she came back to the castle and is about to become Queen,&rdquo; Marcus explained.<br />&ldquo;Oh&hellip; that would be hard&hellip; I mean, I guess&hellip; I&rsquo;ve never been in a relationship before&hellip;&rdquo; Vivi said softly, his head tilting down towards the cobblestone walkway as they all continued to walk.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Those words grabbed Blank in a mode of concern for Vivi.&nbsp;&nbsp;He then nudged Marcus by the side, signaling he&rsquo;d catch up with him and Ruby at the mini theatre later and then bent down to become more level-eyed with Vivi as they both stopped walking for a bit.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Oh?&nbsp;&nbsp;Are you seeing anybody at all?&nbsp;&nbsp;I could help you if you wanted me to arrange a hook-up&hellip;&rdquo; Blank offered.<br />Vivi stood motionless for a few seconds before shrugging.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I dunno if I&rsquo;ll have the time&hellip;&rdquo; he said in a depressed tone.<br />&ldquo;What do you mean?&rdquo; Blank asked in confusion.<br />Vivi took a slow, nervous deep breath as he slowly looked up to Blank.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Well&hellip; in my journeys with Zidane and Garnet&hellip; I&#039;ve found out more about myself&hellip; I was manufactured in an underground production plant in Dali&hellip; I was one of the first prototype Black Mages destined solely to become an instrument of war.&nbsp;&nbsp;The fact I was one of the first means my life span may be slightly longer than all the rest there are&hellip; but I may only live to a year and a half at best&hellip; and I came to consciousness about 6 months ago,&rdquo; Vivi explained, the words making Blank feel really sad for Vivi.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;So as much as I would love to find someone&hellip; and be with them for a long time&hellip; I wouldn&rsquo;t be able to spend much time with them before I pass on&hellip;&rdquo;<br />Blank knelt by Vivi&rsquo;s side for a while as they remained in the middle of the walkway before softly putting his hand on Vivi&rsquo;s shoulder like a friend.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Well&hellip; sometimes, all it takes for someone to really feel good is just one special day, you know,&rdquo; Blank said with a smile.&nbsp;&nbsp;Then a thought popped into his head.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;In fact&hellip; what do you think of Ruby?&rdquo; He asked.<br />Vivi giggled and let out a soft yet adorable squee of delight at the thought of Ruby.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Hehehe&hellip; she is incredibly pretty&hellip; and I do like her accent,&rdquo; Vivi said.<br />Blank chuckled at Vivi&rsquo;s words, knowing that everyone in Tantalus made a habit once in the past of mocking Ruby for her accent only for her to get even with her own pranks against them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Hehe, yeah she is a really special gal,&rdquo; Blank said.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Y&rsquo;know&hellip; IF you want... and I don&rsquo;t wanna pressure or force you into anything, this is just a thought&hellip; but if you want, I could ask Ruby if she would be interested in being with you for a while?&rdquo; Blank offered.<br />Vivi&rsquo;s heart picked up speed as Ruby&rsquo;s beautiful face entered his mind again.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Ooohhh&hellip; I&hellip; I think I would like that, yeah&hellip; I&#039;d be too nervous to ask her on my own, I think&hellip;&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Okay!&nbsp;&nbsp;Well, she should be putting on a play here pretty soon, so if you want, we could head to her mini theatre now and see what she says.&nbsp;&nbsp;It&#039;ll give you a chance to relax for an hour or two during the play beforehand,&rdquo; Blank suggested.<br />&ldquo;O-okay!&nbsp;&nbsp;Sounds good,&rdquo; Vivi said as Blank stood up and walked with him the rest of the way to the mini theatre.&nbsp;&nbsp;They headed west down another street from the market square in the center of town where the ticket booth was for the play I Want To Be Your Canary several weeks ago. They then descended a flight of stairs on the right of the street into a lower level saloon with a stage and several round tables and chairs. <br />In the front area near the admissions and ticketing booth stood Ruby, looking as lovely as ever in her outfit.&nbsp;&nbsp;She stood 5 foot 8 inches tall, wearing a low-cut white blouse with short sleeves.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her hourglass figure was cinched in by a brown corset-like belt. Short green panels graced the sides of her teal, asymmetrical skirt. She wore opaque white tights, pink shoes, short white gloves with brown ribbons, and a brown choker. Her hair was gray, but much of it was covered by a large, light blue bandana.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Well, my stars, Blank, it took you a while to come in here!&rdquo; She said with a bit of volume and a smile.<br />&ldquo;Sorry about that Ruby, I was just catching up with Vivi here,&rdquo; Blank said politely.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Aawww he is such a short little cutie,&rdquo; Ruby said, looking at Vivi.&nbsp;&nbsp;He used to take offense by being called short or little by others, but ever since he had joined Zidane, Garnet and Steiner in their travels, he had grown more comfortable with it, for it was who he was.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Hey there, Vivi,&rdquo; said Cinna as he walked towards Blank and Vivi.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cinna was a somewhat short man with fairly clownish features to his face, with a wide mouth and red nose. He had small, close-set yellow eyes, pointy ears and a black goatee. He wore a brown ensemble consisting of a thick leather collar, cropped short-sleeved jacket from which his belly protruded, wristbands, shorts (with the fly undone), boots, and what appeared to be an off-white chef&#039;s hat. <br />&ldquo;Oh hi there, Uncle Cinna,&rdquo; Vivi said with a wave.<br />&ldquo;What&#039;s with this &#039;uncle&#039; stuff?&nbsp;&nbsp;I don&#039;t look THAT old, ya know...&rdquo; he commented with a chuckle, everyone else following suit in laughter to the reaction.<br />&ldquo;Oh we know that, Cinna,&rdquo; Ruby said politely.&nbsp;&nbsp;She then bent forward towards Vivi, giving him a great view of the ample cleavage from her fairly large breasts at nearly eye level, the sight making his heart beat a little faster.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;We&rsquo;re gonna be starting up a play here soon, my friend.&nbsp;&nbsp;It&rsquo;s gonna be &lsquo;Wish Upon A Star&rsquo; by Lord Avon. Would you like to stay and watch?&rdquo; She asked in her sweet and soothing sexy voice.<br />&ldquo;Yeah, definitely,&rdquo; Vivi said happily, already feeling good about being around Ruby.<br />&ldquo;Marvelous, darlin!&nbsp;&nbsp;You just have a seat wherever and we&rsquo;ll start soon, okay?&rdquo; She said happily.<br />&ldquo;Oh Ruby, a word, please?&rdquo; Blank said, walking with her toward the stage area as Vivi took a seat at a table in the middle of the room.&nbsp;&nbsp;Vivi would see them talking quietly amongst themselves in the distance for a minute or so before they smiled and parted, Ruby going behind the curtain as Blank returned to Vivi smiling and giving a thumbs up,&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;She says she&rsquo;d be happy to, my friend.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Oh wow, thanks Blank,&rdquo; Vivi said softly with a bit of nervousness.<br />&ldquo;Not a problem.&nbsp;&nbsp;Just be yourself, okay?&nbsp;&nbsp;You&rsquo;ll do fine,&rdquo; Blank said, giving Vivi a soft pat on the shoulder before he headed back behind the curtain to join Ruby and Marcus.<br />Vivi sat and watched the play over the next couple of hours as Ruby, Blank and Marcus played it out along with accompaniment from the Nero brothers Benero and Zenero.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was very impressed as to everyone&rsquo;s performance just as much as he was in the play at Alexandria that he could watch before it was halted due to unseen circumstances during Dagger&rsquo;s kidnapping.&nbsp;&nbsp;During that play, Ruby&rsquo;s appearance was pretty much halted by the accidental appearance of Dagger on stage, so this was genuinely the first time Vivi had seen Ruby perform.<br />He was very impressed with Ruby in her acting and how gorgeous she looked.&nbsp;&nbsp;His heart was beating fast and happy the whole time she spoke, moved and sang.&nbsp;&nbsp;When the play was over and the performers all took their bows on stage, Vivi and a few other members of the audience applauded with glee, some of the closer patrons tossing Gil up onto the stage as the curtains closed.&nbsp;&nbsp;When the other patrons had left and the actors had all come out, Vivi then got up out of his chair and walked over towards Ruby, still clapping.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;That was an amazing performance, Miss Ruby!&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Aww why thank you, darlin,&rdquo; Ruby said happily to Vivi as she knelt down and held out her arms in an offering for a hug.&nbsp;&nbsp;Vivi happily raised his arms and hugged her softly, his heart racing now as he held close to her.&nbsp;&nbsp;He could smell her beautiful perfume she wore, the scent making him feel happy and calm.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had never recalled anytime before when a scent had made him happy and soothed.<br />They hugged for over a minute before Ruby turned her head and softly kissed Vivi on the cheek, a smile forming on his face from the sensation, feeling all of his tensions met away right then.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruby then leaned back from the hug and looked right into Vivi&rsquo;s big round yellow eyes in his featureless black face and smiled, her hands moving up to rub and caress his cheeks softly.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Why don&rsquo;t you and I go back to my dressing room and we can&hellip; get to know each other better?&rdquo; She said softly and sweetly.<br />Vivi nodded softly. &ldquo;Oh yeah,&rdquo; he said halfway dreamily.<br />She then stood up slowly, putting her ample bosom into his face for a few seconds as she rose, then turned around and held out her hand.&nbsp;&nbsp;Vivi took her hand in his as she guided him back, getting a glimpse of Blank off to the side smiling and giving him the thumbs up.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruby&rsquo;s dressing room was small, but very nice.&nbsp;&nbsp;There was a bed slightly larger than one person would need, and to Vivi it would be perfect for him and her to lay on.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruby then sat down at the foot of the bed and patted the tops of her thighs as she beckoned him over.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Here, shugah, hop on up here so I can cuddle you close,&rdquo;
