The temperatures cool, but not close to freezing at all. The leaves in the trees turning to their usual colors of yellow, orange, and red as they fell from the limbs of trees and floated to cover the ground. Everyone was dressing warmer as the temperatures cooled to a level that was comfortable without air conditioning. Also, as usual for the time of year, education started up again with new classes beginning curriculum for the next education year at all levels. \n\tSince the adaptation of the new education curriculum brought upon by Lucy and Peppy, the first year's students from all of the migrant families that relocated to Corneria postwar were all succeeding, nearly 100% success in advancement and very few students having to repeat a grade. In fact, many children's education were seen to actually skip grades forward as their skills and acumen in the lower grades proved to be better than expected. \n\tThis upcoming year was seeing one major change however. That of a year-round schooling schedule where students would spend twelve weeks in the classroom with longer, yet fewer classes and then take 4 weeks off in three trimesters throughout the year. Lucy and Peppy had designed it with the idea of having fewer classes in the day all while acquiring more credits throughout the entire year, providing students with more opportunities at the end of their schooling years to advance as far as they could in whatever field of work they decided to pursue. \n\tLucy sat at her desk at the end of the first day, typing some reports and responding to emails regarding the new setup with teachers throughout Corneria City. Despite having a minor amount of resistance to the new idea, the complaints were few and far between as the day progressed, everyone performing as they should as expected. She was finding it to be a difficult day, her mind repeatedly wandering in worry to Leo and he upcoming mission to Venom after the meeting from yesterday, especially with the brief wordless communication shared between Leo and Peppy at the end. She wished she knew exactly what it was that they were talking about at that time. She knew that he would be fairly busy for the next week making preparations for his deployment, so the chance to see him would be slim at any time. \n\tAs she was in the process of finishing the last email of the day, she heard a knock at the door. It was Peppy. “Hey there, darlin. Wanna grab an early dinner?”\n\t“Hi daddy! That actually sounds good to me,” Lucy said, pressing the keys to lock her computer out and got up to get her jacket and purse. “I'm actually starving... not much lunch or breakfast.”\n\t“Aaawww that's not good for ya,” Peppy said. “New curriculum being a bit stressful?”\n\t“Well, it has its challenges, but...” Lucy said, sighing softly, her ears drooping a bit. A classic sign of depression in a lapine species. “...I'm scared for Leo.”\n\t“Ah yeah. I can totally understand that,” Peppy began as they headed out of Lucy's office and through the office building towards the main entrance. “Venom is not a very nice place. The last time I was there... well... James...” It was Peppy's turn for his ears to droop.\n\t“I know,” Lucy said, wrapping an arm around her dad as they continued to walk. They got into the parking lot and got into Peppy's car, the pair driving off to Chalmer's Diner. \n\tChalmer's was busy as usual, the parking lot fairly crowded and nearly every seat occupied. They walked in and were greeted by Sid after less than a minute wait. “Pepster, my good friend how are you doing?” he asked, giving Peppy a hug.\n\t“Doing good, Sid! Hungry after work,” Peppy said with a smile.\n\t“Hehe! Well, I shall happily fix that,” he said, moving to give Lucy a great big hug. “Wonderful to see you again, Lucy.”\n\t“Hey there, Sid,” Lucy said in her adorable voice. “Good to see you as well.”\n\t“How is the schooling going so far, my dear?” Sid asked as he began to walk them over to the Star Fox table, seating them and placing silverware, napkins, glasses of water and menus before them.\n\t“It's a little stressful as we're going on into a new trimester system, but we're going to make it work,” Lucy replied.\n\t“I have my faith in you, sweetie,” Sid said, reaching up to give her chin a soft scritch, the sensation making her cottontail wiggle softly and illicit a cute bunny toothpurr as she smiled. “You guys need a few minutes?”\n\t“Actually Sid, I want that large chef's salad with the spicy peanut dressing,” Peppy said.\n\t“Same, but add a double portion of the crispy spicy chicken on top, please,” Lucy said.\n\t“Sounds good to me, friends,” Sid said as he took the menus and waddled off to the kitchen.\n\tThe meal went by with little in the way of conversation, the two of them sitting and enjoying each other's company for the first time in a long time. It wasn't until the end when they were waiting for the bill when they decided to engage in any sort of conversation.\n\t“Sooo... what was it that you and Leo were talking about after the meeting?” Lucy decided to ask.\n\t“Well, it... wasn't much...” Peppy began. “Leo only asked me about something he suspected, and I gave him an answer.”\n\t“What was it?” Lucy asked.\n\t“I can't say, darlin,” Peppy said, feeling bad deep down that he had to hide something from his own daughter.\n\tLucy sighed a bit at the answer. “Alright then.”\n\t“I will say it didn't have anything to do with his announcement of deployment to Venom, before or after the party,” Peppy said.\n\tLucy nodded, then paused as she rewound the words in her mind. “Wait... BEFORE the party? So you knew beforehand he was being deployed?”\n\t“Yeah, I did,” Peppy said. “I was hoping that Pepper sent that text out a little later than he did.”\n\tLucy couldn't help but softly pound her fist into the table in annoyance. “Dad!”\n\t“I didn't want to ruin the mood at the party, did I? 'Happy birthday, Leo! I got you something special... a nice one-year deployment to Venom!' No way was I gonna do that,” Peppy said, the sarcasm having little influence to improve their moods. Lucy was glad she waited until after the meal to ask questions, for now she was feeling depressed again.\n\tWhen the bill was paid, they headed out to the car to head home. The doors unlocked and Peppy opened his door, but Lucy's hand was hesitant to touch the handle, leaving her just standing there. “What's wrong, darlin?” Peppy asked.\n\t“Dad... take me to Leo's place...” Lucy replied.\n\t“What for?” Peppy asked. “He's probably not home and won't be home for...” He then used his telepathic ability to read her mind, even as she looked back at him with a bit of a scornful look. “...what the??? Absolutely not, young lady!”\n\t“Peppy, I am a grown woman and I can make my own decisions regarding this!” Lucy shot back, her teeth gritted and her voice louder and firm as she got hot under the collar. “I know this is something you don't approve of because you don't believe in it nor was it something looked highly upon when you were my age, but I don't care! I have spent very little time with Leo since we've known him...” Tears began to streak from her eyes and down her cheeks. “...and now I'm scared to death that when he leaves may very well be the last time any of us will ever see him.”\n\tPeppy's mind then went to all the times when he was away from Vivian, knowing how alone they each must've felt. He then thought of the sadness of not having Vivian in their lives as well as James and Vixy not being in Fox's life. Several seconds went by before he sighed with limp ears, but Lucy clearly had enough.\n\t“Fuck it, if you won't drive me, I'll walk there,” she said as she began to walk briskly away. The words and motion made Peppy hurry over to Lucy's side, softly grabbing her wrist and pulling her towards him. \n\t“O-okay, wait, WAIT,” he said, Lucy suddenly facing Peppy again. “Alright, honey... I'll take you there... but we're gonna stop off somewhere first...”\n\n\t--Leo, Miyu and Krystal's house, Corneria City, 18:19--\n\n\tMiyu and Krystal were busy in the kitchen preparing dinner while they waited for Leo to come home from his long day of chores and procedures he needed to accomplish before his departure. Krystal was at the stove top preparing food while Miyu set the table for all three of them.\n\t“You're doubling the recipe tonight, right hon?” Miyu asked.\n\t“Definitely,” Krystal asked. “With how busy and nervous Leo is right now, I wouldn't put it past him to either skip lunch or snack his way through it.”\n\t“Myeah,” Miyu said, nodding softly in agreement with a sigh, her hands placing the silverware on each side of the plates before placing glasses in their proper position. “What d'ya think for this dish... a crisp white?”\n\t“That's what I would choose, yes,” Krystal replied in agreement. She had finished chopping up vegetables and boiling noodles while she waited for the stove burner to heat up to its maximum heat, an oiled wok on standby for the right time. Krystal then suddenly paused for a few seconds before the doorbell rang. Miyu and Krystal looked at each other in confusion. “It's.... A bun... but not OUR bun,” she said, walking with Miyu to the front door to answer it.\n\tThey opened the door to see Lucy standing outside smiling and waving softly. “H-hi there,” she said with a bit of a blush to her face.\n\t“Lucy, omigosh, hi!” Miyu said happily, walking forward to give her a hug, which Lucy graciously accepted, then hugged Krystal softly. “What brings you around?”\n\t“Well... a-actually...” Lucy said, her hands shaky and unable to disguise her nervousness. “I wanted to ask if... Leo was home?”\n\t“Oh, he hasn't come home quite yet,” Krystal said, sensing something about Lucy, her mind trying to gently delve into the bunny's to see if she could figure out what was wrong, if anything. “Why don't you come in? We are about to have dinner once he arrives. Have you eaten yet?”\n\t“Oh, I did actually,” she said, her voice a little shaky. “I ate a big salad at Chalmer's with dad a couple hours ago.”\n\t“Oohhh... well come on in and wait with us in any case,” Miyu insisted, gently pulling Lucy into the living room, barely noticing the bunny's paws shivering. “Is... everything okay?”\n\t“Y-yeah, definitely,” Lucy said, unconvincingly. “Actually, I was wondering if I could ask you both something before he gets in...?”\n\tKrystal smiled and could sense what she was thinking already. [i]She wants to bed our bun tonight... her heart is beating so fast right now... and she's a bit damp, because I can smell her heat...[/i] she telepathed to Miyu, the lynx smiling and nodding. \n\t“Sure, sweetie,” Miyu said, motioning to sit down on the couch, Krystal and Miyu sitting on either side of her, Miyu still holding her hand comfortingly.\n\t“Well, I umm... I know that you three are all quite open in your relationship, but... I still feel like I should come to you personally and ask ahead of time...” Lucy said, finding her words difficult.\n\t“It's okay, love,” Krystal said. “We would love for you to stay tonight and share our bed with Leo, if that is what you desire.”\n\tLucy smiled and gasped a bit with a nervous blushy smile. She kept forgetting about Krystal's abilities and thought that was how she knew, but she was thankful for the understanding notion. “I.... thank you so much,” Lucy said, her hands holding Miyu's and Krystal's happily.\n\t[i]She's calmed down now. She's much more relaxed.[/i] Krystal 'pathed to Miyu. “We're having a shrimp stir-fry and we've got plenty for the four of us, if you feel like your appetite has returned, we'd love for you to join us,” Krystal said.\n\t“Definitely, we want you to feel happy, okay cutie-bun?” Miyu said, leaning in to kiss Lucy's cheek softly.\n\t“O-okay... thank you both so much,” Lucy said sweetly, raising her arms to hug Krystal and Miyu close to her, bunny tooth purring happily. \n\tThey could then hear a soft chime from the security system that Leo had come home, parking his car in the driveway.\n\t“Ooh! Leo's home! Why don't yoooooou...” Miyu said, grabbing Lucy by the hand and bringing her to the front door. “...welcome him home while we start cooking in the kitchen?”\n\tLucy smiled wide and gasped a bit a the notion, but nodded happily as she watched Miyu and Krystal quickly dart into the kitchen. Only a few seconds later did Leo open the door... then stopped and smiled as he noticed Lucy before him. “Well... hi there, Lucy,” Leo said happily, feeling relieved to see her.\n\tShe couldn't help but wag her tail rapidly in happiness as she tooth purred some more as she suddenly leaped in to hug Leo tightly for many moments, the taller lapine smiling and hugging her tight, purring with her as he looked down along her backside to see her tail wagging so happily. “Ppppprrrr.... is everything okay? I wasn't expecting you tonight.”\n\t“Everything is... so good right now... now that you're here,” Lucy said. \n\t“Aaawww...” Leo said as he rubbed his paws over her back slowly as he nuzzled his cheek with hers as they both continued to purr. \n\t“So how was your day?” Lucy asked.\n\t“Was busy, but I got a lot done,” Leo said. “Got my passport made, added some names on my banking and insurances, got set up with the international payment system, stuff like that.”\n\t“That's good,” Lucy said, gently breaking the hug, but still holding on to Leo, looking up at him and smiling, her eyes meeting his as they continued to hold on to each other lovingly. They smiled and gazed into each other's eyes as they continued to purr happily, a few minutes going by before the sound of food sizzling in a hot wok in the kitchen filled the air, rapidly followed by the smell of dinner.\n\t“You're staying for dinner, right?” Leo asked.\n\t“I'll be with you... all night long, Leo,” she said dreamily, her eyes watering a bit.\n\t“I love that idea,” Leo said, leaning in to kiss Lucy on the lips lovingly. Their kiss was soft, gentle, slow and smooth, staying connected for many seconds at a time as they stood in the living room while food cooked. One kiss led to another over the next few minutes, each kiss getting more passionate and deeper than the last, soon their tongues were rubbing and wrestling firmly and slowly together in their maws as their hearts beat excitedly.\n\t“Okay bunbuns, time for dinner,” Miyu said as she came back into the living room from the kitchen, Krystal rolling the food out on a cart to the dinner table. \t\n\tLeo and Lucy broke the kiss softly as they smiled and nodded. “Mkay, love,” Leo said, holding Lucy's paw and walking with her to the dinner table, another place having been set for Lucy. Leo sat down at the head of the table while Lucy sat at the first position to his right, Miyu and Krystal sitting in the two positions off to his left on the other side of the table. Krystal then brought the huge bowl of stir-fry to the table in between them all along with the serving spoons and started dishing everyone up.\n\t“Oop! I forgot the wine! Be right back, everyone,” Krystal said as she hopped off to the kitchen again. It took her a few minutes to bring it back, Leo swearing he could hear the faint sound of magical tingling in the kitchen, but he shrugged it off as she smiled and looked over at Lucy, who was scooting her plate and chair closer to Leo so she could be closer to him. Krystal then served the wine for everyone in a glass and they all began to eat.\n\t“Mmmm... so amazing, Krystal!” Lucy said with a smile.\n\t“Absolutely, yes,” Miyu said in agreement.\n\t“Vixy is a very good cook,” Leo said.\n\t“Not as good as our bun,” Krystal said.\n\t“I have a few tricks up my sleeve,” Leo said, the remark making everyone giggle. Minutes went by as everyone ate dinner, Lucy cuddling close to Leo's side and feeding him forkfuls of food every now and then, Leo returning the favor for her in between kisses. Soon Krystal and Miyu shared in the adorable cuteness as they too began to feed each other in the same adorable manner, everyone's tail wagging happily together. \n\tTowards the end of the meal, Krystal went into the kitchen and brought out another bottle of crisp white wine for all to enjoy, refilling the glasses as everyone finished off the food. “How was it, everyone?” Krystal asked.\n\t“Soooo yummy, sweetie vixy,” Miyu said.\n\t“Very good and very filling,” Leo said. “Thank you so much, love.”\n\t“Yes, definitely an amazing dish, Krystal,” Lucy added. “Thank you very much.”\n\t“You're all quite welcome,” Krystal said. The clock crept closer to 20:00 in the evening, the sun setting below the horizon leaving a beautiful twilight of golds and ambers in the sky that were slowly shifting to blues. “Anyone interested in... dessert?” Krystal suggested, her and Miyu watching Leo and Lucy as they gazed into each other's eyes.\n\t“I think... I wanna...” Lucy said, getting up and holding Leo's hand, prompting him to stand and face Lucy, their eyes not parting. “...if it's alright, I wanna... take my dessert to bed with me.”\n\tMiyu and Krystal giggled at the words as they watched Leo and Lucy standing closer together, Miyu walking over to hug them close. “Heehee, I love that idea,” Miyu began. “You two have a wonderful night together, and we'll see you in the morning, okay?” she said in her usual sweet and cute tone.\n\t“Th-thank you so much, Miyu, Krystal,” Lucy said, turning her head to kiss Miyu on the lips, soon kissing Krystal's lips as she walked over to join in the group hug.\n\tLeo and Lucy then walked side by side from the kitchen up to the bedroom upstairs, Leo grabbing the remainder of the wine bottle and his and Lucy's glasses to finish it off. Once they got to the bedroom, Leo started up the fireplace for a beautiful and romantic atmosphere to spend together as they relaxed in the evening. ~Chapter 40:  A Year On Venom:  Before You Go...~

\tThe autumn weather was apparent all over Corneria.  The temperatures cool, but not close to freezing at all.  The leaves in the trees turning to their usual colors of yellow, orange, and red as they fell from the limbs of trees and floated to cover the ground.  Everyone was dressing warmer as the temperatures cooled to a level that was comfortable without air conditioning.  Also, as usual for the time of year, education started up again with new classes beginning curriculum for the next education year at all levels.  
\tSince the adaptation of the new education curriculum brought upon by Lucy and Peppy, the first year's students from all of the migrant families that relocated to Corneria postwar were all succeeding, nearly 100% success in advancement and very few students having to repeat a grade.  In fact, many children's education were seen to actually skip grades forward as their skills and acumen in the lower grades proved to be better than expected.  
\tThis upcoming year was seeing one major change however.  That of a year-round schooling schedule where students would spend twelve weeks in the classroom with longer, yet fewer classes and then take 4 weeks off in three trimesters throughout the year.  Lucy and Peppy had designed it with the idea of having fewer classes in the day all while acquiring more credits throughout the entire year, providing students with more opportunities at the end of their schooling years to advance as far as they could in whatever field of work they decided to pursue.
\tLucy sat at her desk at the end of the first day, typing some reports and responding to emails regarding the new setup with teachers throughout Corneria City.  Despite having a minor amount of resistance to the new idea, the complaints were few and far between as the day progressed, everyone performing as they should as expected.  She was finding it to be a difficult day, her mind repeatedly wandering in worry to Leo and he upcoming mission to Venom after the meeting from yesterday, especially with the brief wordless communication shared between Leo and Peppy at the end.  She wished she knew exactly what it was that they were talking about at that time.  She knew that he would be fairly busy for the next week making preparations for his deployment, so the chance to see him would be slim at any time.  
\tAs she was in the process of finishing the last email of the day, she heard a knock at the door.  It was Peppy. “Hey there, darlin. Wanna grab an early dinner?”
\t“Hi daddy!  That actually sounds good to me,”  Lucy said, pressing the keys to lock her computer out and got up to get her jacket and purse.  “I'm actually starving... not much lunch or breakfast.”

\t“Well, it has its challenges, but...” Lucy said, sighing softly, her ears drooping a bit.  A classic sign of depression in a lapine species.  “...I'm scared for Leo.”

\t“I know,” Lucy said, wrapping an arm around her dad as they continued to walk.  They got into the parking lot and got into Peppy's car, the pair driving off to Chalmer's Diner.  
\tChalmer's was busy as usual, the parking lot fairly crowded and nearly every seat occupied.  They walked in and were greeted by Sid after less than a minute wait.  “Pepster, my good friend how are you doing?” he asked, giving Peppy a hug.
\t“Doing good, Sid!  Hungry after work,” Peppy said with a smile.
\t“Hehe! Well, I shall happily fix that,” he said, moving to give Lucy a great big hug. “Wonderful to see you again, Lucy.”

\t“How is the schooling going so far, my dear?” Sid asked as he began to walk them over to the Star Fox table, seating them and placing silverware, napkins, glasses of water and menus before them.

\t“Yeah, I did,” Peppy said.  “I was hoping that Pepper sent that text out a little later than he did.”
\tLucy couldn't help but softly pound her fist into the table in annoyance.  “Dad!”
\t“I didn't want to ruin the mood at the party, did I? 'Happy birthday, Leo! I got you something special... a nice one-year deployment to Venom!'  No way was I gonna do that,” Peppy said, the sarcasm having little influence to improve their moods.  Lucy was glad she waited until after the meal to ask questions, for now she was feeling depressed again.
\tWhen the bill was paid, they headed out to the car to head home.  The doors unlocked and Peppy opened his door, but Lucy's hand was hesitant to touch the handle, leaving her just standing there.  “What's wrong, darlin?” Peppy asked.
\t“Dad... take me to Leo's place...” Lucy replied.
\t“What for?”  Peppy asked.  “He's probably not home and won't be home for...”  He then used his telepathic ability to read her mind, even as she looked back at him with a bit of a scornful look.  “...what the???  Absolutely not, young lady!”
