This is the last of the first story arc, Mystery On Papetoon.  Releases will be reduced to one release every Thursday on my day off so I can focus some more on writing as lately I've been bit of a block for ideas.  Still have a couple story arcs coming up, just need to focus on the links and fills of them to put them all together.

The air was filled with the sounds of chirping crickets, tweeting birds, the gentle flow of water down a small water fall into a pond, and the soothing snapping and crackling of a campfire. As he inhaled, he took in the scent of beautiful white oak burning in the fire, several gorgeous flowers around him as well, particularly the scent of cherry blossoms.\n\tHe then softly opened his eyes and looked around... he was alone in a place he recognized. It was Miyu's parent's back yard back in Corneria City. He was sitting in their bench by the firepit. He was wearing his black satin robe as he looked around. He appeared to be alone as he slowly turned his head in all directions... and then he saw Krystal sitting to his right, the blue vixen wearing her white silky robe that she wore on her double date with him and Miyu. “Krystal...?”\n\t“Hi sweetie bun,” she said smiling.\n\tHe looked around his surroundings once again... it was just the two of them there. “W-why... are we here? When did we get back to Corneria?”\n\t“Weeeell... we're not exactly there right now,” she explained. “We just thought this place would make this a lot easier on you for when we did this.”\n\t“'We?' You mean... you and Miyu...?” he asked.\n\t“That's right,” Krystal said.\n\tLeo's mind went back to his last clear memory, him and Miyu laying on the ground of Papetoon, staring into Miyu's eyes as she died... he started to panic a bit, not understanding what was going on. “But... where is she, I need to see her!” He then felt a pair of arms wrapping around him softly from behind, Miyu's sweet soothing voice in his ears.\n\t“I'm right here, sweetie. I haven't left,” she said. Leo smiled and whimpered with tears falling from his eyes down his cheeks. His hands raising to rub softly over her arms, her limbs warm to the touch. She then gently guided him to lay back, Miyu holding him close and cradling him in her embrace like an infant, Miyu smiling and gazing deep into his eyes, her lips kissing his cheeks and licking his tears softly away. “It's okay, sweetie bun.”\n\t“I... I thought you died in front of me there for a while...” he said softly.\n\t“I actually did for about three and a half minutes or so,” Miyu replied.\n\t“We were sitting in a running jeep ready to take off the second we saw your signal,” Krystal said with a smile. “Amanda and I were quick to react with the defibrillator to bring Miyu back.”\n\tLeo smiled and nuzzled Miyu's shoulder as she held onto him in her powerful arms, her body adorned in a white silk robe as well. “So... if we're not here... where are we? And what all happened?”\n\t“I'm gonna make this brief for now, because doing this really drains my energy,” Krystal explained. “We caught the saboteur and sealed up the mine. We're all on the Great Fox. We're heading back to Corneria. You two are laying in beds in the infirmary. You've both been resting here for the last three days. Miyu just woke up about an hour or so ago. I'm sitting between you two with my hands resting on your foreheads to make this meeting happen.”\n\t“I insisted to Krystal we do this,” Miyu said. “I didn't want you to wake up and freak out if I wasn't there for you.”\n\tLeo smiled and reached up to kiss Miyu, his heart beating soft and steady, sighing softly in bliss as she held him. “Aaahhh... thank you both,” Leo said, smiling.\n\tKrystal smiled and nodded. “You two are such a powerful and strong couple. When the worse comes to worst, you are both there for each other. Especially in this latest incident with Miyu's transformation.”\n\tLeo smiled and nuzzled under Miyu's muzzle sweetly. “That's because my girl is so incredibly strong.”\n\tMiyu giggled and rubbed her chin over his forehead. “Well... truth be told, sweetie... I barely felt in control the whole time... and I wouldn't have been in as much control as I was if it wasn't for you.”\n\t“That's right, Leo,” Krystal continued. “You made a connection to Miyu and held onto her when her capabilities were trying to be taken away from her control. You see... despite all the technology, science and magic that is in our world... the most awesome power we are all capable of... is love. And you two are incredibly in love with each other. You two are the strongest people I've ever had the privilege to know. You two were definitely destined to be with each other.”\n\tMiyu and Leo gazed deeply into each other's eyes as Krystal spoke, smiling softly as they held close. “I wouldn't want it any other way,” Leo said.\n\t“Me neither,” Miyu said, their eyes shedding tears of joy softly.\n\tThey lay there for several seconds more. “So... what happens now?” Leo asked.\n\t“Now... you both need to rest... especially you, Leo,” Krystal said. “I've already arranged for Miyu to rest right by your side until you are ready to stand and head home together. We're about a day away from Corneria. When we touch down, you'll both be admitted to hospital to rest and recuperate for a short time, then... we'll all go home.”\n\t“Thank you for doing this for us, Krystal,” Leo said as he looked over at her.\n\t“Yes, thank you so much, sweetie,” Miyu said with a smile to Krystal.\n\t“No worries, you two,” Krystal replied with a smile. “You both have also made my world less empty. And for that I am eternally grateful.”\n\t“I did promise you I would never leave your side, Leo...” Miyu said, her arm going under his legs before standing up with Leo in her arms, his buff lynx getting up effortlessly with her strength. Then a large pair of bright white angelic wings suddenly developed from her upper back and spread out in a wide span before wrapping around her and Krystal, bringing the three of them together. “...and I absolutely meant it, because I can't live without you either. I love you, Leo.”\n\t“I love you, Miyu,” he said, the two of them leaning in to each other to kiss softly and lovingly. His eyes suddenly felt heavy as he looked up at Miyu the whole time. \n\t“Just rest, sweetie... I'll be here for you... I promise...” Miyu said lovingly, the last two words echoing softly in his mind as he fell asleep.\n\n\n\t--Corneria Air Force Base Hospital, 30 hrs later, 04:13--\n\n\tAs Leo woke again, the light was dim and gentle in the room of the hospital, the air comfortable and cool, the faint sound of the heart monitor beeping away off to his left. He tilted his head softly over to the left and saw the equipment on, then scoped out the remainder of the room. The room looked fairly homey inside with a lot of sitting space, looking closer to a hotel suite than a hospital room. He noticed that there was an IV attached to his arm from a bag of white liquid he recognized as TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), a fluid that was administered to people who couldn't take in nutrition through their mouth for long periods of time. He must've been out for several days.\n\tAs he looked around, he saw a two cushion couch with Krystal, Fox and Fara sitting on it, his arms wrapped around the two gorgeous vixens, all of them asleep. Next to them was a comfy chair with Fay sitting adorably in Bill's lap in the fetal position, their arms wrapped lovingly around each other. Another chair to the right of it sat Falco and Katt, the two leaning in on each other while holding hands. Another seat had Peppy laying down resting his head in Lucy's lap, the two snoozing softly away. Another big couch on the side of the room sat Leo and Miyu's parents, both pairs hugging and sleeping together softly.\n\tHe then looked down a little to his right side and saw Miyu laying on her side facing him, her left arm laying along her body as her right arm held her white rabbit plush in her arm along with his own toony lynx plush MewMew, the plushies together in an adorable hugging motion. Leo smiled and teared up at the sight, his right arm softly moving to place his hand in hers, interlacing his fingers in hers. The touch and motion made her open her eyes and smile. “Hi baby,” she whispered.\n\t“Hi kitty,” he said softly and quietly. “You're here.”\n\t“Told ya I would be,” she said quietly. “How're you feeling?”\n\tHe panted softly and tried moving parts of his body all over a little, groaning softly and quietly. “Mmnnnhhh... sore all over... especially over my butt,” he said, the two giggling softly and quietly, Miyu blushing deeply in embarrassment.\n\t“Heehee... I'm sorryyyyy...” she said genuinely.\n\tLeo chuckled silently and squeezed her hand soothingly. “Hehehe... don't be... you were amazing like that,” he whispered.\n\t“Yeah?” she asked, eyes lidding a bit.\n\t“Oh yeahhh... one hundred outta ten... would beg and plead to do it again,” Leo said with a smile.\n\tMiyu giggled silently and sighed with a smile as she softly leaned in to kiss Leo on his lips for several seconds. The silent room door quietly hissed and slid open, Amanda walking in and smiling as she walked by Leo's left side quietly, whispering gently to him. “Welcome back, Leo,” she said. “How're you feeling?”\n\t“Soar all over and wasted... but I'll manage...” he replied. He then held Amanda's hand in his left and brought it to his lips and kissed it, tears flowing down his cheeks now. “Thank you.... so much... for saving Miyu's life,” he told her, the amphibian smiling and tearing up a bit too. “I owe you big time, for that.”\n\t“Don't worry about that, Leo,” she said softly. “You two should get some more sleep. There's a few more hours until sunrise, then we'll check you both out and get some breakfast in you if you're both up to it.”\n\tThey both smiled and nodded, thanking Amanda once more before she quietly stepped out of the room. Miyu then scooted up a bit an bunched up a pillow to support himself, then Leo turned very slowly over towards Miyu, looking at his left arm with the IVs and pulse oximeter probe to make sure we wasn't tugging them or disconnecting them. He then cuddled up right into Miyu's warm, soft and strong embrace, Miyu wrapping her arms around him softly as he rested his head on her shoulder, their favorite sleeping position together. She then kissed the top of his head sweetly. “My cute baby bun.”\n\tLeo kissed into the side of her neck softly. “My guardian angel kitty.” The two of them smiled and took a deep breath and sighed happily, falling asleep again.\n\n\t--6 hours later--\n\n\tMiyu and Leo woke up a little over three hours after they initially woke up. They were all greeted everyone that stayed overnight in the hospital room with them and got and gave hugs and kisses from everyone. They were both eternally grateful for all the love and support from everyone after they had gotten back. When Amanda came back to them after they woke up, she gave Miyu and Leo some gentle recovery breakfast liquids and grains, the meal very similar to what Miyu gave Leo the first morning after trying her first night as a herm. The dishes were mostly liquid with herbal and probiotic supplements along with a chicken soup stock with saltine crackers and whole wheat toast.\n\tThey sat up in bed together around downing their easy meal while they chatted softly with everyone for a short time. They kept everything as simple as possible around their parents without leaking out any details of everything that led them to coming back in this state, for it was still considered top secret, and Peppy and Krystal had not updated them on anything since they blacked out. After an hour of feeling much improved after the recovery breakfast, Amanda sent out an order for a proper breakfast for them both.\n\tOnce their parents had departed, they all gathered around for a summary meeting where they could talk in private, Peppy and Krystal leading the talk, Falco placing a sign in the window of the door that said “Top Secret Meeting within – Do Not Disturb”. \n\t“Well, we are glad to have you two back, kids,” Peppy started. “For a little while there, things were starting to look a little scary, but thanks to Leo and his quick thinking and prompt actions, everything turned out a-okay.”\n\t“I still feel a bit bad about what I did there...” Miyu said with a sigh.\n\t“Hey, don't worry about that Landmaster, Miyu,” Slippy said. \n\t“I know, but... stiiiiill...” She said softly, giving a cute pout as she smiled.\n\t“What's most important is that we all came back and alive,” Krystal said as she sat down beside Miyu on the bed, moving her hand to hold hers softly.\n\t“That's right,” Peppy added. “Anyways, on to what we found out from our attacker.” Everyone sat around and listened intently to Peppy, the hospital room very quiet. He gave a folder with papers and photos in it to Leo to pass around to them, Peppy explaining the contents. “Turns out Krystal was right when she said she thought she heard someone speaking Saurian. It was a SharpClaw that was assigned to work the mines. Gen Scales and Col Shears brought a lot of Venomians and SharpClaws to Papetoon for most of the last two years of the war. They ordered them strictly to mine as much flaysium and uranium they could get their grubby hands on and refine it onsite to convert it all into power cores to drive their ships.” Miyu groaned and quietly seethed at the photos of the SharpClaw that attacked her as well as all the other soldiers at the tent city. “Turns out when Scales and Shears turned tail and fled during the end of the war, almost all of the Venomians and SharpClaws went with them, but a small handful stayed.”\n\t“This one here confessed that there were four others that remained with him and they all tried to coexist in a faraway cave, but supplies ran out and they soon turned on each other, this one being the last to survive,” Krystal said. “His name was Zeno, which is all he would tell us. Afterwards, he said that his hatred for everything the Cornerian military had done against Andross and Venom as well as Papetoon forced them to wander into the mine and dig out pellets of flaysium and shoot them at the officers patrolling the tent cities when they were put up.”\n\t“Sooo... is this person... awaiting trial for their crimes?” Leo asked in curiosity.\n\t“Buried,” Krystal said. “He died about 30 minutes from the blaster weapon wounds he suffered when Miyu turned him into a salt shaker after she was shot in the neck. Probably a good thing too, because he was exposed to so much minor radiation over time, his flesh was turning shades of blue and purple all over along with... other... changes to their anatomy that must've been painful that were detected during a quick autopsy,” she said, her paws motioning a hint, one hand pointing to her crotch and both hands making a crossed waving motion, as if to suggest their genitalia fell off, the thought making Miyu and Leo grimace at the thought.\n\t“Yyyyyyup, so that is what happened, and why,” Peppy said. “The following morning, while you two were in the medical bay asleep, we took Zeno's body down to the bottom of the mine along with their lead-lined pack full of what must've been hundreds of tiny flaysium pellets and lay him to rest. We then sealed off the entrance to the mine with a few crushed abandoned mining vehicles that were big enough to fit in the hole, then we shot some Landmaster blasts at the entrance to collapse it.”\n\t“There's going to be a construction ship heading out there soon to cover the entire area with a concrete dome just like Flayura,” Fox added. “Not sure why it wasn't done that way originally, but it will be this time around.”\n\t“Thankfully, the leaders of the settlement were able to assign themselves to positions to get the tent city back in order, and were well on the way to resuming operations when he were preparing to leave,” Fara added. \n\t“Well, that's everything up to date,” Peppy said, signaling Falco to take the DND sign off the door window, the tall avian doing a double take and waving to someone outside.\n\t“Hey, good timing. Breakfast is here,” Falco said with a smile.\n\t“Yaaaaay hospital food,” Leo said flatly and sarcastically, making Miyu giggle and gently poke him in the shoulder.\n\t“Hahaha... oh no, I took the liberty of getting something far better than that for you two,” Peppy said as Falco opened the door... to see Sid Chalmer walking in with a big order bag!\n\t“Oh my goodness, Miyu and Leo!” Sid said joyously, waddling in happily, setting the food on the foot of the bed for a moment as he walked towards Miyu and gave her a hug. \n\t“Hiiiii Uncle Sid,” Miyu said smiling and purring happily. “So good to see you again.”\n\t“I heard you guys had some action on your last mission and you two came back immediately to the hospital, it had me so worried,” he said with a sad tone in his voice. “I was so anxious to come in here with some food when you were able to have it.”\n\t“Aww, thank you so much, Sid,” Leo said smiling. \n\t“I got you both your favorite, too,” Sid replied. “Chicken fried steak with seasoned potatoes smothered in sausage gravy, scrambled eggs dry and sourdough toast with preserves.”\n\t“Oooohhhhh yummyyyyyy we do love that dish, Uncle Sid,” Miyu said as she smooched his cheek softly. “Tis our favorite comfort food of yours!”\n\t“You got that right!” Leo said.\n\tKrystal helped slide the rolling food trays over on Miyu and Leo's sides of the bed, then grabbed the boxes of food from Sid's insulated delivery bag and placed them before Miyu and Leo.\n\t“Thank you sooooo much, Uncle Sid,” Miyu said, leaning down to give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek once more.\n\t“Yes, definitely. Thank you so much Sid,” Leo said smiling, giving Sid a hug when he walked to the other side of the bed. \n\t“You're quite welcome, kiddos. You both eat up and rest easy, okay?” he said, grabbing his delivery bag while giving a handshake and a hug to Peppy.\n\t“Will do,” Miyu said, she and Leo popping the tops off their boxes and began to dig in gently.\n\tAs Sid began to head towards the door, Falco held up his arms in a shrug. “Hey, hey, what's this, Pops? Where's all our food?” he chided with a grin.\n\tSid guffawed and began to repeatedly poke Falco in the belly, making the tall avian bend over and chuckle. “Well, when you bring your butt and your wallet to MY restaurant, I'll cook ya something, young man!” Everyone laughed out happily, always loving how well Sid handled things like that.\n\t“Hehehehe I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do. I'm starving!” Falco replied chuckling.\n\t“I like that idea, let's head out and leave these two to eat and rest,” Peppy suggested, everyone getting up and giving one more hug to Miyu and Leo before heading out to eat.\n\t“Thank you all for staying with us, everyone,” Miyu said.\n\t“Not a problem, hon,” Krystal said, giving a kiss on the lips to both Miyu and Leo, the blue vixen the last to exit the room.\n\tMiyu and Leo sat together in their hospital bed and ate their breakfast, purring happily at the amazing taste of Sid's cooking, their tails wagging happily behind them. Leo smiled and sighed softly. “At least after we get out we have some recuperation time for a couple weeks,” Leo said softly.\n\t“Y-yeah... that's right,” Miyu said, not eating as fast as she normally does.\n\t“You okay, sweetie?” he asked.\n\t“Myeah... just... not that much appetite...” she said softly.\n\t“Awww... still feeling a bit woozy from being asleep for several days?” he asked.\n\t“N-no... I feel really good right now. If they would permit me, I could probably be cleared to leave right now.... it's just...” her ears went flat atop her head softly, Leo pouting softly and hugging her from the side, giving her a kiss on the cheek.\n\t“Whatcha thinking?” he asked in concern.\n\t“Well... still feeling a bit horrible at what I put you through back there...” she said softly.\n\t“Aaawwww... Miyu, don't feel bad about that,” he said softly, nosing her cheek softly. “If I felt frightened to confront you, I wouldn't have. But I didn't run away... I didn't leave you. We've never left each other, y'know?” he continued, Miyu nodding in response as they held close. “If I hadn't done what I did, you probably would've gone and destroyed the tent city... and possibly the settlement... or the operations center... or worse... wondered off never to be seen again, and... suffering a heart attack all alone in the middle of nowhere with no one to bring you back,” he finished, his voice breaking up a little at the end there, eyes filling with tears.\n\t“I know... but still... I'm thinking of cutting back on my exercising... and eating less a bit... become a more normal girl,” she said softly.\n\tLeo broke up into tears at those words. “Who's going to protect ME then??”\n\tMiyu gasped and turned to look at Leo, whose cheeks were now stained with the streaks of tears. “L... Leo... I...”\n\t“I don't want you to get smaller, fatter, weaker, or ANYTHING like that,” he began. “It's NOT who you are and I've always known and loved you for how strong you are, and that is what I admire in you a lot, and I don't want to EVER see you less than that. Okay?”\n\tMiyu's eyes began to weep tears down her cheeks as she smiled a bit. “Awww... you're right, Leo... I'm sorry...”\n\tHe kissed her lips softly for several moments, sniffling as he scritched her cheeks with his fingertips softly and lovingly. “I want you to promise me you won't EVER go that route with me. Not ever. I want you to promise me... that if you ever change at all...” he continued, his gaze going directly into her eyes, staring deep into her very soul... “...you only get bigger and stronger,” he finished.\n\tMiyu smiled wide and sighed happily at his words, then kissed him deeply and slowly for many moments, their tongues rubbing softly and slowly together for over a minute before they softly broke the kiss. “You're right, Leo... I promise I'll never get weaker or smaller... and will become and even bigger and stronger angel for my cutie bun,” she said sweetly, wrapping her arms around him to hug him gently for a minute, Leo smiling and sobbing softly into her shoulder, giving a kiss to her neck softly. “Mine,” she said softly.\n\t“Yours,” he replied. They then softly finished the hug, wiped away their tears and resuming downing their breakfast meals. “I just realized something...” he said after a few more minutes.\n\t“What's that?” Miyu asked.\n\t“We got a new bed at home that we haven't even slept in yet,” he said. \n\tMiyu froze for a second and blinked a couple times. “Oh yeeeaaaahhhhh... I totally forgot about that new bed,” she said with a giggle.\n\t“You, me and Krystal cuddled for a bit on it the day it was delivered, but that's it,” Leo said softly.\t\n\t“Truuuuue... we should have some fun to break it in for the first night,” Miyu said with a naughty smile.\n\t“Ooohhh? Got any ideas?” he asked, curiously.\n\t“Mmm... I thought of a slumber party with the girls, maybe,” she said. “I'll hafta chat with them about it later.”\n\t“The girls? Oh my...” Leo giggled with a deep blush.\n\t“Yeah! You, me, Krystal, Fara, Katt, Fay... all having some fun for a night on the bed... I don't mind sharing my hunky cute bunny,” Miyu said with a smile, kissing Leo's cheek softly.\n\t“I don't mind it if you don't,” he said, blushing deep. “Just... never even DREAMED of being with five girls before... for the longest time I never thought I would be with even ONE...” He smiled and leaned in to rest his head on Miyu's shoulder, his ears going limp over the top of her head, making her giggle. “But I'm incredibly happy I'm with the one I am now,” he said happily.\n\t“Daaawww... me too, sweetie,” Miyu said, turning her head to kiss the top of his head sweetly. \n\tTheir moment of sweet bliss was interrupted by the sound of their phones receiving a text. I'm assuming in time for this ceremony...”\n\t“Yeah, the three of us will be heading out of here after I get some info from you both after you wake up that morning, then we can all head out of here and get into uniform,” Amanda replied. “We just need to monitor you both for the rest of today and tomorrow just to be sure everything is okay, but so far, I see no complications.”\n\t“Mkay, awesome. Thanks again, Amanda,” Leo said with a smile.\n\t“No problem, sweet bun,” she said with a smile. “Did you guys want me to take those food boxes out if you're done?”\n\t“Oh, yes please, thank you Amanda,” Miyu said, Leo nodding in agreement as he was done eating too. Amanda then headed out of the room with the empty food boxes and went back to her nurses station. Leo and Miyu cuddled in bed for much more time throughout that day, Miyu rubbing her muzzle and chin over the top of his head as she nuzzled his ears, Leo nuzzling over her neck and over her chest softly as he bunnypurred softly and sweetly over and over. \n\tTime ticked on into the mid-afternoon, Miyu holding Leo close as he dozed off into a nap, shifting his position to rest his head on her belly cutely as they lay in bed. ~Chapter 18 – Mystery On Papetoon: An Angel's Promise(s)~


\tA cool gentle breeze brushed across Leo's fur, the wind above brushing against leaves in very tall trees.  The air was filled with the sounds of chirping crickets, tweeting birds, the gentle flow of water down a small water fall into a pond, and the soothing snapping and crackling of a campfire.  As he inhaled, he took in the scent of beautiful white oak burning in the fire, several gorgeous flowers around him as well, particularly the scent of cherry blossoms.
\tHe then softly opened his eyes and looked around... he was alone in a place he recognized.  It was Miyu's parent's back yard back in Corneria City.  He was sitting in their bench by the firepit.  He was wearing his black satin robe as he looked around.  He appeared to be alone as he slowly turned his head in all directions... and then he saw Krystal sitting to his right, the blue vixen wearing her white silky robe that she wore on her double date with him and Miyu.  “Krystal...?”
\t“Hi sweetie bun,” she said smiling.
\tHe looked around his surroundings once again... it was just the two of them there. “W-why... are we here?  When did we get back to Corneria?”
\t“Weeeell... we're not exactly there right now,” she explained.  “We just thought this place would make this a lot easier on you for when we did this.”
\t“'We?'  You mean... you and Miyu...?” he asked.
\t“That's right,” Krystal said.
\tLeo's mind went back to his last clear memory, him and Miyu laying on the ground of Papetoon, staring into Miyu's eyes as she died... he started to panic a bit, not understanding what was going on.  “But... where is she, I need to see her!”  He then felt a pair of arms wrapping around him softly from behind, Miyu's sweet soothing voice in his ears.
\t“I'm right here, sweetie.  I haven't left,” she said.  Leo smiled and whimpered with tears falling from his eyes down his cheeks.  His hands raising to rub softly over her arms, her limbs warm to the touch.  She then gently guided him to lay back, Miyu holding him close and cradling him in her embrace like an infant, Miyu smiling and gazing deep into his eyes, her lips kissing his cheeks and licking his tears softly away.  “It's okay, sweetie bun.”
\t“I... I thought you died in front of me there for a while...” he said softly.
\t“I actually did for about three and a half minutes or so,” Miyu replied.
\t“We were sitting in a running jeep ready to take off the second we saw your signal,” Krystal said with a smile.  “Amanda and I were quick to react with the defibrillator to bring Miyu back.”
\tLeo smiled and nuzzled Miyu's shoulder as she held onto him in her powerful arms, her body adorned in a white silk robe as well.  “So... if we're not here... where are we?  And what all happened?”
\t“I'm gonna make this brief for now, because doing this really drains my energy,” Krystal explained.  “We caught the saboteur and sealed up the mine. We're all on the Great Fox.  We're heading back to Corneria.  You two are laying in beds in the infirmary.  You've both been resting here for the last three days.  Miyu just woke up about an hour or so ago.  I'm sitting between you two with my hands resting on your foreheads to make this meeting happen.”
\t“I insisted to Krystal we do this,” Miyu said.  “I didn't want you to wake up and freak out if I wasn't there for you.”
\tLeo smiled and reached up to kiss Miyu, his heart beating soft and steady, sighing softly in bliss as she held him.  “Aaahhh... thank you both,” Leo said, smiling.
\tKrystal smiled and nodded.  “You two are such a powerful and strong couple.  When the worse comes to worst, you are both there for each other.  Especially in this latest incident with Miyu's transformation.”
\tLeo smiled and nuzzled under Miyu's muzzle sweetly.  “That's because my girl is so incredibly strong.”
\tMiyu giggled and rubbed her chin over his forehead.  “Well... truth be told, sweetie... I barely felt in control the whole time... and I wouldn't have been in as much control as I was if it wasn't for you.”
\t“That's right, Leo,” Krystal continued. “You made a connection to Miyu and held onto her when her capabilities were trying to be taken away from her control.  You see... despite all the technology, science and magic that is in our world... the most awesome power we are all capable of... is love.  And you two are incredibly in love with each other.  You two are the strongest people I've ever had the privilege to know. You two were definitely destined to be with each other.”
\tMiyu and Leo gazed deeply into each other's eyes as Krystal spoke, smiling softly as they held close.  “I wouldn't want it any other way,” Leo said.
\t“Me neither,” Miyu said, their eyes shedding tears of joy softly.
\tThey lay there for several seconds more.  “So... what happens now?” Leo asked.
\t“Now... you both need to rest... especially you, Leo,” Krystal said.  “I've already arranged for Miyu to rest right by your side until you are ready to stand and head home together. We're about a day away from Corneria.  When we touch down, you'll both be admitted to hospital to rest and recuperate for a short time, then... we'll all go home.”
\t“Thank you for doing this for us, Krystal,” Leo said as he looked over at her.
\t“Yes, thank you so much, sweetie,” Miyu said with a smile to Krystal.
\t“No worries, you two,” Krystal replied with a smile.  “You both have also made my world less empty.  And for that I am eternally grateful.”
\t“I did promise you I would never leave your side, Leo...” Miyu said, her arm going under his legs before standing up with Leo in her arms, his buff lynx getting up effortlessly with her strength.  Then a large pair of bright white angelic wings suddenly developed from her upper back and spread out in a wide span before wrapping around her and Krystal, bringing the three of them together.  “...and I absolutely meant it, because I can't live without you either.  I love you, Leo.”
\t“I love you, Miyu,” he said, the two of them leaning in to each other to kiss softly and lovingly.  His eyes suddenly felt heavy as he looked up at Miyu the whole time.  
\t“Just rest, sweetie... I'll be here for you... I promise...” Miyu said lovingly, the last two words echoing softly in his mind as he fell asleep.


\t--Corneria Air Force Base Hospital, 30 hrs later, 04:13--

\tAs Leo woke again, the light was dim and gentle in the room of the hospital, the air comfortable and cool, the faint sound of the heart monitor beeping away off to his left.  He tilted his head softly over to the left and saw the equipment on, then scoped out the remainder of the room.  The room looked fairly homey inside with a lot of sitting space, looking closer to a hotel suite than a hospital room.  He noticed that there was an IV attached to his arm from a bag of white liquid he recognized as TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition), a fluid that was administered to people who couldn't take in nutrition through their mouth for long periods of time.  He must've been out for several days.
\tAs he looked around, he saw a two cushion couch with Krystal, Fox and Fara sitting on it, his arms wrapped around the two gorgeous vixens, all of them asleep.  Next to them was a comfy chair with Fay sitting adorably in Bill's lap in the fetal position, their arms wrapped lovingly around each other.  Another chair to the right of it sat Falco and Katt, the two leaning in on each other while holding hands.  Another seat had Peppy laying down resting his head in Lucy's lap, the two snoozing softly away.  Another big couch on the side of the room sat Leo and Miyu's parents, both pairs hugging and sleeping together softly.
\tHe then looked down a little to his right side and saw Miyu laying on her side facing him, her left arm laying along her body as her right arm held her white rabbit plush in her arm along with his own toony lynx plush MewMew, the plushies together in an adorable hugging motion.  Leo smiled and teared up at the sight, his right arm softly moving to place his hand in hers, interlacing his fingers in hers.  The touch and motion made her open her eyes and smile.  “Hi baby,” she whispered.
\t“Hi kitty,” he said softly and quietly.  “You're here.”
\t“Told ya I would be,” she said quietly.  “How're you feeling?”
\tHe panted softly and tried moving parts of his body all over a little, groaning softly and quietly.  “Mmnnnhhh... sore all over... especially over my butt,” he said, the two giggling softly and quietly, Miyu blushing deeply in embarrassment.
\t“Heehee... I'm sorryyyyy...” she said genuinely.
\tLeo chuckled silently and squeezed her hand soothingly.  “Hehehe... don't be... you were amazing like that,” he whispered.
\t“Yeah?” she asked, eyes lidding a bit.
\t“Oh yeahhh... one hundred outta ten... would beg and plead to do it again,” Leo said with a smile.
\tMiyu giggled silently and sighed with a smile as she softly leaned in to kiss Leo on his lips for several seconds.  The silent room door quietly hissed and slid open, Amanda walking in and smiling as she walked by Leo's left side quietly, whispering gently to him.  “Welcome back, Leo,” she said.  “How're you feeling?”
\t“Soar all over and wasted... but I'll manage...” he replied.  He then held Amanda's hand in his left and brought it to his lips and kissed it, tears flowing down his cheeks now.  “Thank you.... so much... for saving Miyu's life,” he told her, the amphibian smiling and tearing up a bit too.  “I owe you big time, for that.”
\t“Don't worry about that, Leo,” she said softly.  “You two should get some more sleep.  There's a few more hours until sunrise, then we'll check you both out and get some breakfast in you if you're both up to it.”
\tThey both smiled and nodded, thanking Amanda once more before she quietly stepped out of the room.  Miyu then scooted up a bit an bunched up a pillow to support himself, then Leo turned very slowly over towards Miyu, looking at his left arm with the IVs and pulse oximeter probe to make sure we wasn't tugging them or disconnecting them.  He then cuddled up right into Miyu's warm, soft and strong embrace, Miyu wrapping her arms around him softly as he rested his head on her shoulder, their favorite sleeping position together.  She then kissed the top of his head sweetly.  “My cute baby bun.”
\tLeo kissed into the side of her neck softly.  “My guardian angel kitty.”  The two of them smiled and took a deep breath and sighed happily, falling asleep again.

\t--6 hours later--

\tMiyu and Leo woke up a little over three hours after they initially woke up.  They were all greeted everyone that stayed overnight in the hospital room with them and got and gave hugs and kisses from everyone.  They were both eternally grateful for all the love and support from everyone after they had gotten back.  When Amanda came back to them after they woke up, she gave Miyu and Leo some gentle recovery breakfast liquids and grains, the meal very similar to what Miyu gave Leo the first morning after trying her first night as a herm.  The dishes were mostly liquid with herbal and probiotic supplements along with a chicken soup stock with saltine crackers and whole wheat toast.
\tThey sat up in bed together around downing their easy meal while they chatted softly with everyone for a short time.  They kept everything as simple as possible around their parents without leaking out any details of everything that led them to coming back in this state, for it was still considered top secret, and Peppy and Krystal had not updated them on anything since they blacked out. After an hour of feeling much improved after the recovery breakfast, Amanda sent out an order for a proper breakfast for them both.
\tOnce their parents had departed, they all gathered around for a summary meeting where they could talk in private, Peppy and Krystal leading the talk, Falco placing a sign in the window of the door that said “Top Secret Meeting within – Do Not Disturb”.  
\t“Well, we are glad to have you two back, kids,” Peppy started.  “For a little while there, things were starting to look a little scary, but thanks to Leo and his quick thinking and prompt actions, everything turned out a-okay.”
\t“I still feel a bit bad about what I did there...” Miyu said with a sigh.
\t“Hey, don't worry about that Landmaster, Miyu,” Slippy said.
\t“I know, but... stiiiiill...” She said softly, giving a cute pout as she smiled.
\t“What's most important is that we all came back and alive,” Krystal said as she sat down beside Miyu on the bed, moving her hand to hold hers softly.
\t“That's right,” Peppy added.  “Anyways, on to what we found out from our attacker.”  Everyone sat around and listened intently to Peppy, the hospital room very quiet.  He gave a folder with papers and photos in it to Leo to pass around to them, Peppy explaining the contents.  “Turns out Krystal was right when she said she thought she heard someone speaking Saurian.  It was a SharpClaw that was assigned to work the mines.  Gen Scales and Col Shears brought a lot of Venomians and SharpClaws to Papetoon for most of the last two years of the war.  They ordered them strictly to mine as much flaysium and uranium they could get their grubby hands on and refine it onsite to convert it all into power cores to drive their ships.”  Miyu groaned and quietly seethed at the photos of the SharpClaw that attacked her as well as all the other soldiers at the tent city.  “Turns out when Scales and Shears turned tail and fled during the end of the war, almost all of the Venomians and SharpClaws went with them, but a small handful stayed.”
\t“This one here confessed that there were four others that remained with him and they all tried to coexist in a faraway cave, but supplies ran out and they soon turned on each other, this one being the last to survive,” Krystal said.  “His name was Zeno, which is all he would tell us.  Afterwards, he said that his hatred for everything the Cornerian military had done against Andross and Venom as well as Papetoon forced them to wander into the mine and dig out pellets of flaysium and shoot them at the officers patrolling the tent cities when they were put up.”
\t“Sooo... is this person... awaiting trial for their crimes?” Leo asked in curiosity.
\t“Buried,” Krystal said.  “He died about 30 minutes from the blaster weapon wounds he suffered when Miyu turned him into a salt shaker after she was shot in the neck.  Probably a good thing too, because he was exposed to so much minor radiation over time, his flesh was turning shades of blue and purple all over along with... other... changes to their anatomy that must've been painful that were detected during a quick autopsy,” she said, her paws motioning a hint, one hand pointing to her crotch and both hands making a crossed waving motion, as if to suggest their genitalia fell off, the thought making Miyu and Leo grimace at the thought.
\t“Yyyyyyup, so that is what happened, and why,” Peppy said.  “The following morning, while you two were in the medical bay asleep, we took Zeno's body down to the bottom of the mine along with their lead-lined pack full of what must've been hundreds of tiny flaysium pellets and lay him to rest.  We then sealed off the entrance to the mine with a few crushed abandoned mining vehicles that were big enough to fit in the hole, then we shot some Landmaster blasts at the entrance to collapse it.”
\t“There's going to be a construction ship heading out there soon to cover the entire area with a concrete dome just like Flayura,” Fox added.  “Not sure why it wasn't done that way originally, but it will be this time around.”
\t“Thankfully, the leaders of the settlement were able to assign themselves to positions to get the tent city back in order, and were well on the way to resuming operations when he were preparing to leave,” Fara added.  
\t“Well, that's everything up to date,” Peppy said, signaling Falco to take the DND sign off the door window, the tall avian doing a double take and waving to someone outside.
\t“Hey, good timing.  Breakfast is here,” Falco said with a smile.
\t“Yaaaaay hospital food,” Leo said flatly and sarcastically, making Miyu giggle and gently poke him in the shoulder.
\t“Hahaha... oh no, I took the liberty of getting something far better than that for you two,” Peppy said as Falco opened the door... to see Sid Chalmer walking in with a big order bag!
\t“Oh my goodness, Miyu and Leo!” Sid said joyously, waddling in happily, setting the food on the foot of the bed for a moment as he walked towards Miyu and gave her a hug.
\t“Hiiiii Uncle Sid,” Miyu said smiling and purring happily.  “So good to see you again.”
\t“I heard you guys had some action on your last mission and you two came back immediately to the hospital, it had me so worried,” he said with a sad tone in his voice.  “I was so anxious to come in here with some food when you were able to have it.”
\t“Aww, thank you so much, Sid,” Leo said smiling.  
\t“I got you both your favorite, too,” Sid replied.  “Chicken fried steak with seasoned potatoes smothered in sausage gravy, scrambled eggs dry and sourdough toast with preserves.”
\t“Oooohhhhh yummyyyyyy we do love that dish, Uncle Sid,” Miyu said as she smooched his cheek softly.  “Tis our favorite comfort food of yours!”
\t“You got that right!” Leo said.
\tKrystal helped slide the rolling food trays over on Miyu and Leo's sides of the bed, then grabbed the boxes of food from Sid's insulated delivery bag and placed them before Miyu and Leo.
\t“Thank you sooooo much, Uncle Sid,” Miyu said, leaning down to give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek once more.
\t“Yes, definitely.  Thank you so much Sid,” Leo said smiling, giving Sid a hug when he walked to the other side of the bed.
\t“You're quite welcome, kiddos.  You both eat up and rest easy, okay?” he said, grabbing his delivery bag while giving a handshake and a hug to Peppy.
\t“Will do,” Miyu said, she and Leo popping the tops off their boxes and began to dig in gently.
\tAs Sid began to head towards the door, Falco held up his arms in a shrug.  “Hey, hey, what's this, Pops?  Where's all our food?” he chided with a grin.
\tSid guffawed and began to repeatedly poke Falco in the belly, making the tall avian bend over and chuckle.  “Well, when you bring your butt and your wallet to MY restaurant, I'll cook ya something, young man!”  Everyone laughed out happily, always loving how well Sid handled things like that.
\t“Hehehehe  I think that's exactly what I'm gonna do.  I'm starving!”  Falco replied chuckling.
\t“I like that idea, let's head out and leave these two to eat and rest,” Peppy suggested, everyone getting up and giving one more hug to Miyu and Leo before heading out to eat.
\t“Thank you all for staying with us, everyone,” Miyu said.
\t“Not a problem, hon,” Krystal said, giving a kiss on the lips to both Miyu and Leo, the blue vixen the last to exit the room.
\tMiyu and Leo sat together in their hospital bed and ate their breakfast, purring happily at the amazing taste of Sid's cooking, their tails wagging happily behind them.  Leo smiled and sighed softly.  “At least after we get out we have some recuperation time for a couple weeks,” Leo said softly.
\t“Y-yeah... that's right,” Miyu said, not eating as fast as she normally does.
\t“You okay, sweetie?” he asked.
\t“Myeah... just... not that much appetite...” she said softly.
\t“Awww... still feeling a bit woozy from being asleep for several days?” he asked.
\t“N-no... I feel really good right now.  If they would permit me, I could probably be cleared to leave right now.... it's just...” her ears went flat atop her head softly, Leo pouting softly and hugging her from the side, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
\t“Whatcha thinking?” he asked in concern.
\t“Well... still feeling a bit horrible at what I put you through back there...” she said softly.
\t“Aaawwww... Miyu, don't feel bad about that,” he said softly, nosing her cheek softly.  “If I felt frightened to confront you, I wouldn't have.  But I didn't run away... I didn't leave you.  We've never left each other, y'know?” he continued, Miyu nodding in response as they held close.  “If I hadn't done what I did, you probably would've gone and destroyed the tent city... and possibly the settlement... or the operations center... or worse... wondered off never to be seen again, and... suffering a heart attack all alone in the middle of nowhere with no one to bring you back,” he finished, his voice breaking up a little at the end there, eyes filling with tears.
\t“I know... but still... I'm thinking of cutting back on my exercising... and eating less a bit... become a more normal girl,” she said softly.
\tLeo broke up into tears at those words.  “Who's going to protect ME then??”
\tMiyu gasped and turned to look at Leo, whose cheeks were now stained with the streaks of tears. “L... Leo... I...”
\t“I don't want you to get smaller, fatter, weaker, or ANYTHING like that,” he began.  “It's NOT who you are and I've always known and loved you for how strong you are, and that is what I admire in you a lot, and I don't want to EVER see you less than that.  Okay?”
\tMiyu's eyes began to weep tears down her cheeks as she smiled a bit.  “Awww... you're right, Leo... I'm sorry...”
\tHe kissed her lips softly for several moments, sniffling as he scritched her cheeks with his fingertips softly and lovingly.  “I want you to promise me you won't EVER go that route with me.  Not ever.  I want you to promise me... that if you ever change at all...” he continued, his gaze going directly into her eyes, staring deep into her very soul... “...you only get bigger and stronger,” he finished.
\tMiyu smiled wide and sighed happily at his words, then kissed him deeply and slowly for many moments, their tongues rubbing softly and slowly together for over a minute before they softly broke the kiss.  “You're right, Leo... I promise I'll never get weaker or smaller... and will become and even bigger and stronger angel for my cutie bun,” she said sweetly, wrapping her arms around him to hug him gently for a minute, Leo smiling and sobbing softly into her shoulder, giving a kiss to her neck softly.  “Mine,” she said softly.
\t“Yours,” he replied.  They then softly finished the hug, wiped away their tears and resuming downing their breakfast meals.  “I just realized something...” he said after a few more minutes.
\t“What's that?” Miyu asked.
\t“We got a new bed at home that we haven't even slept in yet,” he said.
\tMiyu froze for a second and blinked a couple times.  “Oh yeeeaaaahhhhh... I totally forgot about that new bed,” she said with a giggle.
\t“You, me and Krystal cuddled for a bit on it the day it was delivered, but that's it,” Leo said softly.\t
\t“Truuuuue... we should have some fun to break it in for the first night,” Miyu said with a naughty smile.
\t“Ooohhh?  Got any ideas?” he asked, curiously.
\t“Mmm... I thought of a slumber party with the girls, maybe,” she said.  “I'll hafta chat with them about it later.”
\t“The girls? Oh my...” Leo giggled with a deep blush.
\t“Yeah!  You, me, Krystal, Fara, Katt, Fay... all having some fun for a night on the bed... I don't mind sharing my hunky cute bunny,” Miyu said with a smile, kissing Leo's cheek softly.
\t“I don't mind it if you don't,” he said, blushing deep.  “Just... never even DREAMED of being with five girls before... for the longest time I never thought I would be with even ONE...” He smiled and leaned in to rest his head on Miyu's shoulder, his ears going limp over the top of her head, making her giggle.  “But I'm incredibly happy I'm with the one I am now,” he said happily.
\t“Daaawww... me too, sweetie,” Miyu said, turning her head to kiss the top of his head sweetly.  
\tTheir moment of sweet bliss was interrupted by the sound of their phones receiving a text.  They stopped and looked at each other in confusion before grabbing their phones to check them.

\t“Ooh, honey, we're getting awards!” Leo said ecstatically.
\t“VERY cool,” Miyu said as Amanda suddenly came into their room.
\t“You guys got that message too, right?” Amanda asked.
\t“We sure did!” Miyu said with a smile.
\t“Wonder what it's gonna be for?” Leo said, curiously.
\t“Probably something to do with the Papetoon incident, I'm guessing,” Miyu said with a shrug. “So Amanda, do you know when we'll be discharged?  I'm assuming in time for this ceremony...”
\t“Yeah, the three of us will be heading out of here after I get some info from you both after you wake up that morning, then we can all head out of here and get into uniform,” Amanda replied.  “We just need to monitor you both for the rest of today and tomorrow just to be sure everything is okay, but so far, I see no complications.”
\t“Mkay, awesome.  Thanks again, Amanda,” Leo said with a smile.
\t“No problem, sweet bun,” she said with a smile. “Did you guys want me to take those food boxes out if you're done?”
\t“Oh, yes please, thank you Amanda,” Miyu said, Leo nodding in agreement as he was done eating too.  Amanda then headed out of the room with the empty food boxes and went back to her nurses station.  Leo and Miyu cuddled in bed for much more time throughout that day, Miyu rubbing her muzzle and chin over the top of his head as she nuzzled his ears, Leo nuzzling over her neck and over her chest softly as he bunnypurred softly and sweetly over and over.  
\tTime ticked on into the mid-afternoon, Miyu holding Leo close as he dozed off into a nap, shifting his position to rest his head on her belly cutely as they lay in bed.  Miyu grabbed her phone after some time and started up a group chat with Fara, Krystal, Katt and Fay.
