Much to the pleasure of many of the planet's citizens, Corneria never really had any frigid or “winter” months where going outdoors required a lot of coverage in warm clothes, and it hardly ever froze. Outdoor activities were abundant all over the planet at almost all times of the year here. Even at the base, crews were actively working outdoors in comfort as they all went about their assigned duties as the rebuilding and restocking of goods and supplies continued.\n\tThe Great Fox had its front and rear bays open to allow the clean crisp warm air from one end to the other as some worked inside it. Falco sat with Katt at a tooling table surrounded by shells and other artillery creation tools, along with electrical equipment to repair blasters on rifles and vehicles. Fay and Slippy were walking about between vehicles performing maintenance and repairs. Miyu had joined them midday to assist in removing a drive engine from one of the Landmasters that had a failure and needed a complete overhaul. She continued working on lube changes on certain vehicles as well as reloading and re-calibrating weapons on other Landmasters and Arwings in the team's arsenal that were still here.\n\tThough not all of the team was about on Corneria today. In fact, not for the last few weeks. A distress call had been sent out from one of the tent cities established outside the military base on Fortuna, stating that more refugees that had escaped from the nearby forests after terrible losses in their habitat forced them to leave it. Several people died on the way to the base on the many day trek from their old home, many arriving sick or very weak, putting a strain on the food and shelter situation there. General Pepper had dispatched Fox, Fara, Bill, Amanda and Leo along with a team of a few hundred to Fortuna to begin a rapid deployment of a new tent city as well as medically treat the survivors to the best of their ability.\n\tMiyu sat on a stool at the side of her own Arwing X-Interceptor with a rag doused in cleanser to help remove all the scorch marks from atmosphere re-entry. She sat there making small slow circles over the metal of her ship as her mind wandered, her ears splayed back sadly as her mind was stuck on her bunny. He was gone far away and had been gone for what seemed an eternity to her. She couldn't get him out of her mind every waking moment of every day. She did her best to maintain her eating and exercising habits, but even those which she had been accustomed to for many years of her life were proving to be a struggle from time to time. She wasn't worried at all about him not coming back or dying there as it wasn't wartime anymore... she was just back to feeling incredibly lonely and depressed again, and she hated it.\n\tFay walked past Miyu to put away a torque wrench and some other tools she was using off in another booth. She wiped them clean with a rag and placed them in their respective places in the toolbox, then shut it. She then turned around and glanced over at Miyu and paused to watch her for a short time. Fay whimpered quietly as she stood and watched Miyu... aside from her right hand moving in a circle in front of her, she'd hardly moved at all. She then walked over and softly sat down on a crate by her side. “M-Miyu...?”\n\t“Yeah....” she said, off in a daze.\n\t“We're just about done here, did you wanna join me and the others for dinner?” she said in her usual gentle and cheery tone.\n\t“Yeah....” Miyu repeated.\n\t“Could even catch a movie afterwords if you wanna,” she suggested.\n\t“Yeah....”\n\tFay felt her heart sink a little inside watching and listening to Miyu, gently placing her paw on her shoulder, the lynx's motions completely unchanged.\n\t“Miyu...?”\n\t“Yeah....”\n\t“You've... been polishing that one spot for over a half hour....” she said softly.\n\tMiyu turned her wrist in a few more circles before suddenly stopping, blinking twice, then removing the rag from the metal panel of her ship. “Oh.... I.... hadn't noticed....” It was then that she realized it did no good to try and feign ignorance, sighing sadly as Fay wrapped an arm around Miyu, her other paw resting over Miyu's softly.\n\t“My ears are always open for you, hon,” Fay offered sweetly. Miyu always appreciated Fay for her adorable voice along with her chipper and cheerful attitude she was known for. She already felt a tiny bit better hearing her voice... but she still missed her bunny.\n\t“I just.... miss him terribly.... I mean.... I know he's coming back.... but being without him after the time we've had together after we both have had nobody to be with for a long time.... It just hurts....” those last few words came out with a sad whimper, making Fay hug her friend softly as they sat down.\n\tFay rubbed softly and slowly over Miyu's back as her lynx friend sobbed quietly and softly into Fay's shoulder, the two sitting and holding each other for several minutes. “It's just a few more days, Miyu. He'll be back. I know that must seem an eternity for you both, but you will both be together again, I know it,” she said softly and soothingly. “And I know that he must be feeling very similar for him because he is missing you too, right now.”\n\tMiyu nodded as her crying ceased, giving a deep and slow sigh as she got up and wiped her tears away, Fay still holding one of her hands softly. “Yeah... you're right, Fay. Just a few more days,” she said with a sniffle and a weak smile.\n\t“Come on, let's seal up and get outta here and get some food, mkay?” Fay said with an adorable smile. It was so hard for Miyu to not like Fay. They both joined the Star Fox team at the same time thanks to their skills and backgrounds and they always got along very well with the rest of the team and each other. Miyu always admired Fay for her ceaseless optimism.... and she thought she was an incredibly adorable puppy.\n\tMiyu nodded and stood up along with Fay and walked with her towards the exit of the hangar, seeing Katt and Falco finishing sorting their tools and cleanup along with Slippy locking up all of his many tool cabinets. “Hey girls, you going to dinner right now?” Slippy asked Miyu and Fay, Falco and Katt walking up soon after.\n\t“Yeah, we're gonna get a bite to eat at Chalmer's. Wanna come?” Fay replied.\n\t“That's definitely got my vote,” Falco replied, giving a stretch and a yawn.\n\t“Awwyeah,” Katt answered simply.\n\t“Sweet! Let's go!” Slippy said excitedly.\n\tThey all began to walk out of the Great Fox onto the tarmac of the landing field at the base towards the terminal. A quick check out with their IDs and they were off duty and ready to walk out onto the streets of Corneria City. Fay stood by Miyu's side the whole time, her hand reaching to hold hers as they walked out onto the city sidewalks. Miyu smiled and looked at Fay, who looked right back as she skipped and hopped beside Miyu. “Sooooo.... feeling better?” Fay asked cheerfully.\n\t“Hehe... a bit better, yes. Thank you so much, sweet puppy,” Miyu said with a smile.\n\t“Not a problem!” Fay replied all chipper, continuing to hop and skip along, making Miyu giggle softly. Along the way, Miyu's mind couldn't help but think of Leo more and more, then she remembered that he was up there with Fara... she sighed and grabbed her phone, thankful it had connections to military comm lines all across the Lylat. It wasn't as quick as sending and receiving messages on the same planet or region, but she had to try... She then started to type a message to send out to Fara on Fortuna as they walked to dinner. \n\n\t--Fortuna, Tent city 2, 18:11--\n\n\tThe hot sun shown down on the surface of the planet of Fortuna, Leo and Fox helping technicians place and setup a big power generator unit in the latest tent city and getting it hooked up to a solar array. Leo then turned the charging system on to do a systems check, giving a sigh of relief that all functions were operable and that it was currently charging the huge unit battery bank. Applause sounded all around as Leo gave the thumbs up and closed the panel. “Alright, this is charging. We can have the next crew work on laying down power and comm lines overnight and we can get this tent city set up with power in the morning. Thanks everyone for your help,” he said to the technicians around, all of them giving high-fives and handshakes as he and Fox picked up all their tools, phone and diagrams, then boarded a jeep to take them back the long walk to the mess hall at the base operations center.\n\t“Time for food, Fox?” Leo asked.\n\t“You got that right Leo. I am soooo hungry,” Fox replied.\n\tLeo pulled out his phone and checked his messages. Most of every communication he got during his time away from Corneria was from Miyu. Many short messages were sent between them. Lots of “Love you”s, “Miss you”s and other such brief and depressing texts. He saw nothing new since her last hour on her shift, so he figured she was out eating with the others there like he was about to.\n\t“Anything new from Miyu?” Fox asked.\n\tHe sighed and shrugged, putting his phone back in his pocket. “Not for several hours.”\n\tFox smiled and put his paw on his shoulder softly. “Just a few more days, guy. Things will be fine,” Fox said.\n\t“I know... just... seems like an eternity,” Leo said, head tilted down a little. The jeep stopped at the mess hall and dropped off Fox and Leo at the front door where they met with Fara waiting for them. \n\t“Hey boys,” she said with a smile and a wave. Fox smiled and gave her a hug, Leo giving her a hug also, his lasting a bit longer as Fara held onto him. “You okay, Leo?” she asked.\n\t“Myeah, just.... lonely,” he replied with a weak smile.\n\tFara smiled and wrapped an arm around Leo as they walked into the mess hall. “You two are the cutest and happiest couple I have ever seen.”\n\t“So who is in the mess tonight?” Fox asked.\n\tFara grinned and rolled her eyes a bit. “Biiiiiill.”\n\t“Hoooooo-boy....” Leo said with a chuckle. As much as Leo really liked Bill, he was still undecided as to how to think about all the inevitable innuendo he put into his food titles. Nothing ever tasted bad, but he still wondered, all the same. And if the titles weren't suggestive enough, he still had to chuckle a bit at the joke of a message on his grey chef's apron with black lettering that literally only said “I'VE BEEN TO ZONESS.” When they walked in and picked up trays, they saw Bill behind the chow line, the smell of the food was really good. \n\t“Duuude, guys! Hope yer hungry!” Bill said with enthusiasm as he stood behind the food bar.\n\t“Right.... what's all this then, Bill?” Fox inquired, pointing at the various dishes.\n\t“Weeeell, we got Bill Grey's Special Stew...” which looked like a genuine vegetable beef stew with a few local vegetables added in... “Shit On A Shingle...” ah, the military favorite... hardtack or toast smothered in sausage gravy... “Ants On A Log...” celery stalks with peanut butter spread along the middle and dotted with raisins... “and for dessert.... I decided to try an old royal recipe I dug up once...” he said.\n\t[i]'Dug up?' Innuendo alert! Innuendo alert![/i] Leo thought to himself.\n\tBill's paw then went to a tray to remove a cover that revealed what appeared to be a rounded rectangular loaf of sponge cake topped with doughnut frosting and multiple colored pieces of dried fruit. “....Spotted Dick!” he said with enthusiasm and a wide smile. [i]Oooookay, yeah, that was DEFINITELY worse than what I was thinking,[/i] thought Leo. Everyone had to take several seconds to snirk at Bill's comedy.\n\t“Dammit Bill... I'll have one of everything, along with a cold one,” Fox said, chuckling. \n\t“Hahaaaa, good call, Fox,” Bill said, scooping up Fox's tray with a bowl of stew, plate with Shit On A Shingle sided with the Ants On A Log and... Bill's... pastry... he then reached and got Fox a cold bottle of Fortuna beer. Fox then gave a thumbs up and headed off to a table. “How bout you, Leo?”\n\t“Hehehe Same, but I'll have a stiff rum and cola instead. If I'm gonna down some of your dick, I either wanna love it or not remember it happening!” Leo replied, inciting raucous laughter for several feet around, followed by applause, especially from Bill. \n\t“Faraaaaaaa... what's your pleasure, hon?” Bill asked her with a smile.\n\t“Heeeeey Bill... same food for me, but I'll pass on the dick,” Fara said smiling.\n\t“How bout something hot and black inside ya, instead?” he joked with a wink.\n\tFara smiled with tongue sticking out and a wink, her arm reaching out and extending her middle finger right in his face. \n\t“Oooooouch... is that a no?” he teased.\n\t“That is DEFINITELY a no,” she said with a chuckle.\n\t“Okaaaaay... Well, how bout some coffee then?” he said, smiling.\n\tShe laughed and nodded as Bill loaded up her tray of food, then walked off to sit next to Fox who sat across from Leo. Fara and Leo set their trays down to get up and go retrieve their drinks and then came back. They got a few bites into their dinner before they noticed Bill toss off controls of the mess to the other chefs for a quick break and then came to sit down next to Leo. “So how'd it go out there, guys? Is the power up yet?” Bill asked as he joined them for grub.\n\t“Almost. We got the generator tested and working and it is currently charging via solar power. Night crew is putting up the power and comm lines and the tent city will be alight by morning.,” Fox said.\n\t“Awesome,” Bill said between bites. “Totally sucks that they found a leaking nuclear power cell in the forest right by their settlement. Sounds like something Andross would do during a war,” he added.\n\tFara nodded. “Yeah, it leaked hazardous material into the ground water and streams that fed them. I'm surprised as many survived the trek here,” she said. She then heard a chime on her phone and pulled it out to check it.\n\t“Yup,” Fox said with a sigh. “And I hate to say it, but I would not be surprised to see more of that happen on more planets in the next year or two. Who knows what kind of evil surprises lay in waiting and hidden from view from innocent lives. So you and Miyu keep those surveying plans safe, Leo,” Fox motioned to him. “Those are proving very beneficial to us getting everything done as quick as we are.”\n\t“You got it, Captain,” Leo said. Leo knew that joking around and casual address of name here and there wasn't a bad thing providing you knew and respect everyone's rank and importance. Despite this, he still preferred to be formal when discussing serious matters.\n\tThe meal continued on with idle conversation and mild planning for completing operations on Fortuna as they were scheduled to depart for Corneria in a few days time. Fara went back and forth on her phone for several more minutes sending messages back and forth. It wasn't until the end of the meal she gently nudged Fox's arm with hers while Leo was chatting with Bill a bit, Fara showing him her messages. They ended up both smiling, looking into their eyes, Fox nodding and Fara nodding in response.\n\tIt was nearly 20:00 in the evening once they finished getting dinner in them. They then put their trays and utensils in the wash bin on the way out and walked to the officer's quarters and barracks the short walk away. Once they all got into the main lobby they sighed in bliss at the sensation of air conditioned air surrounding their bodies. “Aaaaahhhhyesssss... feels so good...” Fox said and then yawned wide.\n\t“Me too, I am very tired,” Leo said. “I'm gonna get into the shower and get clean and head to sleep.”\n\t“Sounds good to me, guy,” Bill said. “Meet up again at 07:00 for breakfast?”\n\t“That's the plan,” Fara said.\n\t“A'ight. Good night everyone,” Bill finished, the four of them going off to their respective rooms.\n\tWhen Leo got into his room, he leaned back against the door to shut it and sighed. He reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone to check messages.... nothing new. His ears drooped softly in sadness as he flopped his phone on the bedside table, then began to empty his pockets and place the contents next to his phone. He was only in his room for a few minutes and about to raise his shirt off above his head before he heard a gentle knock at the door. He paused and put his shirt back down and went to the door to open it.... and there was Fara standing before him smiling, carrying a small handbag. “Hi. Can... I come in?” she asked. He noticed she was still in uniform.\n\t“S-sure, Fara,” he moved to the side and guided her in. She put her handbag on the floor by the bed before standing beside Leo and wrapping her arm around him, nuzzling her cheek against his shoulder. He smiled and wrapped his arm around her, loving the closeness all of a sudden. \n\t“How're you feeling?” she asked.\n\tLeo's mind went back to Miyu again, his heart aching to be holding her right now. “....my best? I guess.... ~Chapter 8 – There Is No I In T-E-A-M~


\t--Great Fox hangar bay, Corneria Air Force Base, two months later, 16:44--

\tAs time passed, the skies of Corneria remained clear and calm, yet the changing seasons brought in a cooler weather that was more comfortable and enjoyable to everyone without much use of air conditioning.  Much to the pleasure of many of the planet's citizens, Corneria never really had any frigid or “winter” months where going outdoors required a lot of coverage in warm clothes, and it hardly ever froze.  Outdoor activities were abundant all over the planet at almost all times of the year here.  Even at the base, crews were actively working outdoors in comfort as they all went about their assigned duties as the rebuilding and restocking of goods and supplies continued.
\tThe Great Fox had its front and rear bays open to allow the clean crisp warm air from one end to the other as some worked inside it.  Falco sat with Katt at a tooling table surrounded by shells and other artillery creation tools, along with electrical equipment to repair blasters on rifles and vehicles.  Fay and Slippy were walking about between vehicles performing maintenance and repairs.  Miyu had joined them midday to assist in removing a drive engine from one of the Landmasters that had a failure and needed a complete overhaul.  She continued working on lube changes on certain vehicles as well as reloading and re-calibrating weapons on other Landmasters and Arwings in the team's arsenal that were still here.
\tThough not all of the team was about on Corneria today.  In fact, not for the last few weeks.  A distress call had been sent out from one of the tent cities established outside the military base on Fortuna, stating that more refugees that had escaped from the nearby forests after terrible losses in their habitat forced them to leave it.  Several people died on the way to the base on the many day trek from their old home, many arriving sick or very weak, putting a strain on the food and shelter situation there.  General Pepper had dispatched Fox, Fara, Bill, Amanda and Leo along with a team of a few hundred to Fortuna to begin a rapid deployment of a new tent city as well as medically treat the survivors to the best of their ability.
\tMiyu sat on a stool at the side of her own Arwing X-Interceptor with a rag doused in cleanser to help remove all the scorch marks from atmosphere re-entry.  She sat there making small slow circles over the metal of her ship as her mind wandered, her ears splayed back sadly as her mind was stuck on her bunny.  He was gone far away and had been gone for what seemed an eternity to her.  She couldn't get him out of her mind every waking moment of every day.  She did her best to maintain her eating and exercising habits, but even those which she had been accustomed to for many years of her life were proving to be a struggle from time to time.  She wasn't worried at all about him not coming back or dying there as it wasn't wartime anymore... she was just back to feeling incredibly lonely and depressed again, and she hated it.
\tFay walked past Miyu to put away a torque wrench and some other tools she was using off in another booth.  She wiped them clean with a rag and placed them in their respective places in the toolbox, then shut it.  She then turned around and glanced over at Miyu and paused to watch her for a short time.  Fay whimpered quietly as she stood and watched Miyu... aside from her right hand moving in a circle in front of her, she'd hardly moved at all.  She then walked over and softly sat down on a crate by her side.  “M-Miyu...?”
\t“Yeah....” she said, off in a daze.
\t“We're just about done here, did you wanna join me and the others for dinner?” she said in her usual gentle and cheery tone.
\t“Yeah....” Miyu repeated.
\t“Could even catch a movie afterwords if you wanna,” she suggested.
\t“Yeah....”
\tFay felt her heart sink a little inside watching and listening to Miyu, gently placing her paw on her shoulder, the lynx's motions completely unchanged.
\t“Miyu...?”
\t“Yeah....”
\t“You've... been polishing that one spot for over a half hour....” she said softly.
\tMiyu turned her wrist in a few more circles before suddenly stopping, blinking twice, then removing the rag from the metal panel of her ship.  “Oh.... I.... hadn't noticed....”  It was then that she realized it did no good to try and feign ignorance, sighing sadly as Fay wrapped an arm around Miyu, her other paw resting over Miyu's softly.
\t“My ears are always open for you, hon,” Fay offered sweetly.  Miyu always appreciated Fay for her adorable voice along with her chipper and cheerful attitude she was known for.  She already felt a tiny bit better hearing her voice... but she still missed her bunny.
\t“I just.... miss him terribly.... I mean.... I know he's coming back.... but being without him after the time we've had together after we both have had nobody to be with for a long time.... It just hurts....” those last few words came out with a sad whimper, making Fay hug her friend softly as they sat down.
\tFay rubbed softly and slowly over Miyu's back as her lynx friend sobbed quietly and softly into Fay's shoulder, the two sitting and holding each other for several minutes.  “It's just a few more days, Miyu.  He'll be back.  I know that must seem an eternity for you both, but you will both be together again, I know it,” she said softly and soothingly.  “And I know that he must be feeling very similar for him because he is missing you too, right now.”
\tMiyu nodded as her crying ceased, giving a deep and slow sigh as she got up and wiped her tears away, Fay still holding one of her hands softly.  “Yeah... you're right, Fay.  Just a few more days,” she said with a sniffle and a weak smile.
\t“Come on, let's seal up and get outta here and get some food, mkay?” Fay said with an adorable smile.  It was so hard for Miyu to not like Fay.  They both joined the Star Fox team at the same time thanks to their skills and backgrounds and they always got along very well with the rest of the team and each other.  Miyu always admired Fay for her ceaseless optimism.... and she thought she was an  incredibly adorable puppy.
\tMiyu nodded and stood up along with Fay and walked with her towards the exit of the hangar, seeing Katt and Falco finishing sorting their tools and cleanup along with Slippy locking up all of his many tool cabinets.  “Hey girls, you going to dinner right now?” Slippy asked Miyu and Fay, Falco and Katt walking up soon after.
\t“Yeah, we're gonna get a bite to eat at Chalmer's.  Wanna come?” Fay replied.
\t“That's definitely got my vote,” Falco replied, giving a stretch and a yawn.
\t“Awwyeah,” Katt answered simply.
\t“Sweet!  Let's go!” Slippy said excitedly.
\tThey all began to walk out of the Great Fox onto the tarmac of the landing field at the base towards the terminal.  A quick check out with their IDs and they were off duty and ready to walk out onto the streets of Corneria City.  Fay stood by Miyu's side the whole time, her hand reaching to hold hers as they walked out onto the city sidewalks.  Miyu smiled and looked at Fay, who looked right back as she skipped and hopped beside Miyu. “Sooooo.... feeling better?” Fay asked cheerfully.
\t“Hehe... a bit better, yes.  Thank you so much, sweet puppy,” Miyu said with a smile.
\t“Not a problem!” Fay replied all chipper, continuing to hop and skip along, making Miyu giggle softly.  Along the way, Miyu's mind couldn't help but think of Leo more and more, then she remembered that he was up there with Fara... she sighed and grabbed her phone, thankful it had connections to military comm lines all across the Lylat.  It wasn't as quick as sending and receiving messages on the same planet or region, but she had to try...  She then started to type a message to send out to Fara on Fortuna as they walked to dinner.  

\t--Fortuna, Tent city 2, 18:11--

\tThe hot sun shown down on the surface of the planet of Fortuna, Leo and Fox helping technicians place and setup a big power generator unit in the latest tent city and getting it hooked up to a solar array.  Leo then turned the charging system on to do a systems check, giving a sigh of relief that all functions were operable and that it was currently charging the huge unit battery bank.  Applause sounded all around as Leo gave the thumbs up and closed the panel.  “Alright, this is charging.  We can have the next crew work on laying down power and comm lines overnight and we can get this tent city set up with power in the morning.  Thanks everyone for your help,” he said to the technicians around, all of them giving high-fives and handshakes as he and Fox picked up all their tools, phone and diagrams, then boarded a jeep to take them back the long walk to the mess hall at the base operations center.
\t“Time for food, Fox?” Leo asked.
\t“You got that right Leo. I am soooo hungry,” Fox replied.
\tLeo pulled out his phone and checked his messages.  Most of every communication he got during his time away from Corneria was from Miyu.  Many short messages were sent between them.  Lots of “Love you”s, “Miss you”s and other such brief and depressing texts.  He saw nothing new since her last hour on her shift, so he figured she was out eating with the others there like he was about to.
\t“Anything new from Miyu?” Fox asked.
\tHe sighed and shrugged, putting his phone back in his pocket.  “Not for several hours.”
\tFox smiled and put his paw on his shoulder softly.  “Just a few more days, guy.  Things will be fine,” Fox said.
\t“I know... just... seems like an eternity,” Leo said, head tilted down a little.  The jeep stopped at the mess hall and dropped off Fox and Leo at the front door where they met with Fara waiting for them.  
\t“Hey boys,” she said with a smile and a wave.  Fox smiled and gave her a hug, Leo giving her a hug also, his lasting a bit longer as Fara held onto him.  “You okay, Leo?” she asked.
\t“Myeah, just.... lonely,” he replied with a weak smile.
\tFara smiled and wrapped an arm around Leo as they walked into the mess hall.  “You two are the cutest and happiest couple I have ever seen.”
\t“So who is in the mess tonight?” Fox asked.
\tFara grinned and rolled her eyes a bit. “Biiiiiill.”
\t“Hoooooo-boy....” Leo said with a chuckle. As much as Leo really liked Bill, he was still undecided as to how to think about all the inevitable innuendo he put into his food titles.  Nothing ever tasted bad, but he still wondered, all the same.  And if the titles weren't suggestive enough, he still had to chuckle a bit at the joke of a message on his grey chef's apron with black lettering that literally only said “I'VE BEEN TO ZONESS.”  When they walked in and picked up trays, they saw Bill behind the chow line, the smell of the food was really good.
\t“Duuude, guys! Hope yer hungry!” Bill said with enthusiasm as he stood behind the food bar.
\t“Right.... what's all this then, Bill?” Fox inquired, pointing at the various dishes.
\t“Weeeell, we got Bill Grey's Special Stew...” which looked like a genuine vegetable beef stew with a few local vegetables added in... “Shit On A Shingle...” ah, the military favorite... hardtack or toast smothered in sausage gravy... “Ants On A Log...” celery stalks with peanut butter spread along the middle and dotted with raisins... “and for dessert.... I decided to try an old royal recipe I dug up once...”  he said.
\t'Dug up?' Innuendo alert! Innuendo alert! Leo thought to himself.
\tBill's paw then went to a tray to remove a cover that revealed what appeared to be a rounded rectangular loaf of sponge cake topped with doughnut frosting and multiple colored pieces of dried fruit. “....Spotted Dick!” he said with enthusiasm and a wide smile.  Oooookay, yeah, that was DEFINITELY worse than what I was thinking, thought Leo.  Everyone had to take several seconds to snirk at Bill's comedy.
\t“Dammit Bill... I'll have one of everything, along with a cold one,” Fox said, chuckling.  
\t“Hahaaaa, good call, Fox,” Bill said, scooping up Fox's tray with a bowl of stew, plate with Shit On A Shingle sided with the Ants On A Log and... Bill's... pastry... he then reached and got Fox a cold bottle of Fortuna beer.  Fox then gave a thumbs up and headed off to a table.  “How bout you, Leo?”
\t“Hehehe  Same, but I'll have a stiff rum and cola instead.  If I'm gonna down some of your dick, I either wanna love it or not remember it happening!” Leo replied, inciting raucous laughter for several feet around, followed by applause, especially from Bill.  
\t“Faraaaaaaa... what's your pleasure, hon?” Bill asked her with a smile.
\t“Heeeeey Bill... same food for me, but I'll pass on the dick,” Fara said smiling.
\t“How bout something hot and black inside ya, instead?” he joked with a wink.

\t“Okaaaaay... Well, how bout some coffee then?” he said, smiling.
\tShe laughed and nodded as Bill loaded up her tray of food, then walked off to sit next to Fox who sat across from Leo.  Fara and Leo set their trays down to get up and go retrieve their drinks and then came back.  They got a few bites into their dinner before they noticed Bill toss off controls of the mess to the other chefs for a quick break and then came to sit down next to Leo.  “So how'd it go out there, guys?  Is the power up yet?” Bill asked as he joined them for grub.
\t“Almost.  We got the generator tested and working and it is currently charging via solar power.  Night crew is putting up the power and comm lines and the tent city will be alight by morning.,” Fox said.
\t“Awesome,” Bill said between bites.  “Totally sucks that they found a leaking nuclear power cell in the forest right by their settlement.  Sounds like something Andross would do during a war,” he added.
\tFara nodded.  “Yeah, it leaked hazardous material into the ground water and streams that fed them.  I'm surprised as many survived the trek here,” she said.  She then heard a chime on her phone and pulled it out to check it.
\t“Yup,” Fox said with a sigh.  “And I hate to say it, but I would not be surprised to see more of that happen on more planets in the next year or two.  Who knows what kind of evil surprises lay in waiting and hidden from view from innocent lives.  So you and Miyu keep those surveying plans safe, Leo,” Fox motioned to him.  “Those are proving very beneficial to us getting everything done as quick as we are.”
\t“You got it, Captain,” Leo said.  Leo knew that joking around and casual address of name here and there wasn't a bad thing providing you knew and respect everyone's rank and importance.  Despite this, he still preferred to be formal when discussing serious matters.
\tThe meal continued on with idle conversation and mild planning for completing operations on Fortuna as they were scheduled to depart for Corneria in a few days time.  Fara went back and forth on her phone for several more minutes sending messages back and forth.  It wasn't until the end of the meal she gently nudged Fox's arm with hers while Leo was chatting with Bill a bit, Fara showing him her messages.  They ended up both smiling, looking into their eyes, Fox nodding and Fara nodding in response.
\tIt was nearly 20:00 in the evening once they finished getting dinner in them.  They then put their trays and utensils in the wash bin on the way out and walked to the officer's quarters and barracks the short walk away.  Once they all got into the main lobby they sighed in bliss at the sensation of air conditioned air surrounding their bodies.  “Aaaaahhhhyesssss... feels so good...” Fox said and then yawned wide.
\t“Me too, I am very tired,” Leo said.  “I'm gonna get into the shower and get clean and head to sleep.”
\t“Sounds good to me, guy,” Bill said.  “Meet up again at 07:00 for breakfast?”
\t“That's the plan,” Fara said.
\t“A'ight.  Good night everyone,” Bill finished, the four of them going off to their respective rooms.
\tWhen Leo got into his room, he leaned back against the door to shut it and sighed.  He reached into his pocket and grabbed his phone to check messages.... nothing new.  His ears drooped softly in sadness as he flopped his phone on the bedside table, then began to empty his pockets and place the contents next to his phone.  He was only in his room for a few minutes and about to raise his shirt off above his head before he heard a gentle knock at the door.  He paused and put his shirt back down and went to the door to open it.... and there was Fara standing before him smiling, carrying a small handbag.  “Hi.  Can... I come in?” she asked.  He noticed she was still in uniform.
\t“S-sure, Fara,” he moved to the side and guided her in.  She put her handbag on the floor by the bed before standing beside Leo and wrapping her arm around him, nuzzling her cheek against his shoulder.  He smiled and wrapped his arm around her, loving the closeness all of a sudden.
\t“How're you feeling?” she asked.
