"writing": "Down in South Texas, somewhere between the cities of Corpus Christi, Victoria and Bay City, lies the town of Leaf Springs, with a population of around 5,500. Like most places its size, things are generally more laid-back, run at a slower pace, and it's not known for much, but it is home to Union Pacific's Thunderbolt Yard, a pretty active place for train activity with about 30 to 40 tracks, a bit of switching duty and train assembly going on, as well as a small shop that's mostly used for freight car maintenance. It's also often used for trains to stop for crew switches and/or for crews to take their breaks.\n\nSome days are busier than others, and regardless of the traffic, many a railfanning Pokemon, both young and old, have come down here from surrounding areas to take pictures and/or shoot film of trains. Today, two third graders plan to do just that.\n\n\"Here we are, Spenny!\" A 9-year-old Turtwig named Layne says to his best friend, a 9-year-old Piplup named Spencer.\n\n\"Awesome! You got your camera with you, Layney boy?\" Spencer responds back as they finish crossing Karnes Street, the last point before the tracks ahead of them.\n\n\"Of course.\" Layne nods. \"Safely underneath the zippered shorts pocket.\" he adds, hopping the fence first, Spencer doing the same once Layne is across. \"You remember why we're going the long way this time, don't cha?\"\n\nSpencer looks to the left, able to see where most of the tracks are, and some freight cars too. \"Oh yeah...you said somethin' about how this would make your channel get real big.\"\n\n\"Uh-huh...keep an eye out for security guards or railroad cops. We can't have 'em catchin' us.\" Layne whispers to Spencer as the two look both ways before crossing one of the tracks, and begin making their way closer to the yard.\n\nNow, most railfans know it's always best and safe to stand back a reasonable distance from the tracks. Layne and Spencer are among them...usually. However, social media clout, regardless of how small or big it actually is, has made many a Pokemon do stupid things, especially the younger they are. In Layne's case, getting 20 subscribers on a MewTube channel he set up by himself, and two videos of his getting over 500 views, is enough to warrant taking a big risk, and it took some convincing, but Spencer agreed.\n\nTheir plan? Only a few days into their summer break, they were going to spend a whole day taking pictures and videos of trains coming and going at various spots of Thunderbolt Yard, going from spot to spot in order to lower the chances of getting caught by the railroad police, and the potential of train crews spotting them and reporting them. It would make for amazing close-up shots, Layne said. Especially if they happened to see any locomotives still donning their Southern Pacific or Cotton Belt liveries, patched or unpatched.\n\nSo far, no problem. The yard isn't particularly active at this time with only a few tracks having consists standing still, most of which are tanker cars that are likely either loaded with, or soon to be loaded with liquids from nearby chemical plants.\n\n\"Quiet...but that's bound to change.\" Layne whispers, both him and Spencer occasionally glancing around to make sure no trains happen to be coming before deciding to cross any more tracks.\n\n\"Mm-hmm.\" Spencer quickly nods. After crossing a couple of tracks to make their way into an open space with the tracks on one side and tracks on another being about 20 feet apart, the two mons spot a set of white lights in the distance.\n\n\"How about that? Not even five minutes after getting here.\" Layne chuckles.\n\n\"Yeah, we usually have to wait like 15 minutes.\" Spencer remarks. They watch as the train pulls into the yard, going down one of the tracks before pulling into a siding, noticing it continually getting slower. It's pulling quite a few cars that they can see, so this is most likely either a break time or a crew change.\n\n\"Picture time.\" Layne says to Spencer, smiling as he quickly unzips his left shorts pocket and pulls out the camera, a compact navy blue model. As the train comes to a stop, Layne turns the camera on, glad to see that the batteries are still charged fully, and adjusts a few settings. The Turtwig and Piplup are both careful not to draw any attention to themselves as two Pokemon, an Absol and a Flygon, step out of the cab. And while they're distant, they can still hear what's being said.\n\n\"Isidoro usually brings plates for everyone today, doesn't he?\" \"Correct, Robert. But even if today's an exception, i'm still gettin' us something different. I'm rather burnt out on cold sandwiches and protein bars, aren't you?\" \"Absolutely.\"\n\nLayne and Spencer watch as the Absol and Flygon look both ways as they cross the tracks on their way over to a nearby yard office. They definitely know at least one of the yard workers over here. With the train crew busy with other things, Layne motions for his friend to follow him as they walk closer to the locomotive. They're both delighted once they get a good look.\n\n\"Wow...\"\n\n\"Didn't expect our train day to start off with this.\"\n\nThe lead unit of this now idle train, is a Union Pacific GP60, number 2070 - but still donning its old Southern Pacific Speed Lettering livery asides the patches on the numberboards and hood shield, and looking surprisingly clean for an old SP locomotive that hasn't even been fully repainted.\n\n\"Man, Layne...you're lucky to have your own MewTube.\" Spencer says, observing the leaf turtle snap a few photos on his camera from different angles. \"I do have a camera coming in the mail soon. Looks just like yours, only it's red. But MewTube isn't in the cards. Mom and dad watch what i do on my phone very closely, including email, and there's no way they'll let me have an account. It's stupid.\"\n\n\"That sucks.\" Layne responds. \"Maybe someday, they'll change their minds. Remember, my own parents were unsure about this whole MewTube thing themselves at first.\"\n\n\"I sure hope they do...\" the penguin sighs. Just then, Layne happens to notice something - the train crew neglected to close the cab door on the left side before heading off. A sudden wave of temptation overcomes him, and he suddenly giggles.\n\n\"What's so funny, Layney?\"\n\nThe Turtwig turns back to face Spencer. \"Spence...i have a very crazy idea.\"\n\nSpencer blinks. \"What would that be?\"\n\n\"Well, what if...\" Layne begins. \"we sneak up inside the cab? And, uh...drive the train?\"\n\n\"What?!\" Spencer shouts. \"Are you sure that's a good idea?\"\n\n\"Shh!\" Layne shushes. \"It sounds good on paper. Heck, i saw this video the other day of a Pancham our age, in the cab of a locomotive like this doing some switching maneuvers at a yard in Iowa. And it got a bunch of views! I'm talking like hundreds of thousands. If he can do it, why can't we do it too?\"\n\nThe Piplup puts a flipper to his chin and gives it a few seconds of thought. \"Hmm...alright, i'm fine with that. Just don't do anything crazy like try driving us to San Antonio or Houston, alright?\"\n\n\"Haha! I won't.\" Layne laughs as he begins walking towards the steps. \"And i have more than enough experience on train simulators to know what i'm doing.\"\n\nSpencer follows the Turtwig, the two being very careful as they climb up the steps onto the locomotive. And then the steps on the left side leading up into the cab. After taking one last look to make sure no one's around to see them, Layne and Spencer both walk into the cab, the Piplup closing the door behind him, and are greeted by the interior setup as soon as they turn around.\n\n\"Wow, this is even better than in the games!\" \"I can't believe i'm seeing it up close, can you?\"\n\nThey can see just about everything they could recognize. Handles for the air, independent and dynamic brakes, a radio to the left of the horn valve, various dials and switches on the rear wall with a few Danger 600 Volts signs, buttons for the sander and bell, the speedometer as well as the gauges for reservoirs, the brake cylinder and brake pipe, air flow indicator, brake power, along with buttons for stuff that neither Layne nor Spencer really understand, asides wheel slip and sand. There's also a few switches, one of which turns on lights for the gauges so they're easier to see at night.\n\nOf course, there's also switches for both the front and rear headlights, the throttle, and one last thing-\n\n\"Huh?\"\n\nWell, there should be. Only, where the reverser is supposed to be, there isn't a handle.\n\n\"Aww man, no reverser?\" Layne laments.\n\n\"Can't go anywhere without that.\" Spencer points out.\n\n\"Mm-mm.\" the leaf turtle shakes his head, before pulling up his camera. \"Ah well, this'll make for good MewTube content.\" he says, optimism returning as he goes to get a video started. As soon as recording begins, he speaks into the camera. \"Howdy, MewTube! Refugio Railfan here. Today, me and my good friend Spencer are inside the cab of a train.\" he then points the camera towards Spencer, who waves at it. \"Hello!\"\n\n\"Not what you expected today, is it?\" Layne says to the camera with a chuckle, continuing to hold it up. \"Well, i was going to try and drive it a very short distance. But the reverser's missing, so we'll just explore. And show you one or two of these buttons.\"\n\nLayne begins showing the hopeful viewers around, first showing them the walkway through the window that leads to the rear of the locomotive, and what looks to be another GP-series Union Pacific locomotive in full Armour Yellow, though he can't tell what the exact model or number is. Even though there's no way they can drive it, Layne and Spencer are very delighted to be up in this cab.\n\n\"Ooh, i'm gonna be famous!\" Spencer cheers, clapping his flippers.\n\n\"So am i.\" Layne adds before walking over to the controls. \"Okay, y'all see all this? These are what all the train crews use to drive! I dunno what all these buttons and switches mean, but i know some. There's the wheel slip, there's the sander...and then down here is the headlights. Let me show ya how it works.\"\n\nLayne reaches over to the switch for the front headlights with a foreleg, and pushes them all the way to the other side to turn them off. Then pushing it all the way back on a few seconds later.\n\n\"There ya go!\" Layne shouts. \"It'd be easier to see if it was night. Oh well, it works. Now...time for the bell.\"\n\nLayne goes over to the button for the bell and pushes it with the same foreleg. He and Spencer both smile at one another once the bell begins to ring, a steel bell from the sounds of it.\n\n\"Yay!\" Spencer claps his flippers.\n\n\"Awesome!\" Layne cheers.\n\n\"Blow the horn, Layne!\" Spencer encourages. \"Up in the chair. Horn valve's right there!\"\n\n\"That's just what i planned on doing next!\" Layne gets the bell to cut off. \"Now for what you've all been waiting for...\"\n\nthe Turtwig puts his camera back in the shorts pocket for a moment so he can hop up into the chair. He manages to do so, and after turning it to where it's facing the horn valve, pulls the camera back out.\n\n\"Let 'er rip, Layney!\"\n\n\"Alright! 1...2...3!\"\n\nWith the camera facing directly at the horn valve, Layne puts his right foreleg to it and pulls down hard. The Nathan P3 this GP60 is equipped with quickly comes to life. He lets it blast for about ten seconds before letting go of the valve, Spencer cheering and clapping happily once again.\n\n\"Yes! Y'all have no idea how long we've been waiting to actually get to do this!\" Layne shouts happily, jumping around in the engineer's chair. \"Let's do it again!\"\n\nThe right foreleg goes back to the horn valve and Layne blasts it again, this time for another ten seconds.\n\n\"I could do this all day!\" the Turtwig exclaims just before letting go of the valve. \"There's also wipers and mirrors, but neither me nor Spencer can reach those dials. And showing y'all elsewhere inside the cab would take us too long.\"\n\n\"Uh-huh!\" Spencer nods.\n\n\"Yep! So...that's it for now! I'll have more trains later!\"\n\nJust after Layne stops recording...\n\n\"HEY!\"\n\nBoth Layne and Spencer are startled by a shout, and the excitement they felt immediately vanishes when they hear feet storming up the train steps...and the Absol that they saw earlier immediately comes into sight, visibly ticked off as he quickly swings the door open, immediately spotting them.\n\n\"What the...what are you kids up to?!\" the Absol demands.\n\nLayne and Spencer gulp. \"W-we...w-we can explain.\"\n\n\"Oh, i'm dyin' to hear it! But first, both of you get your asses out of this cab, and off this train, NOW!!!\" the Absol bellows. \"Don't even try, or think about touching another Arceus-damned thing, do you understand me?!\"\n\nLayne and Spencer rapidly nod in response, now rather scared as they rush to get out, the Absol following them down the steps, who gives their backsides hellacious swats with his paws which gets them to let out yelps. They also come across the Flygon from earlier, who looks just as ticked and unamused as his Absol coworker.\n\n\"What the fuck were you even trying to do?!\" the Flygon shouts. \"Did you really think no one would hear you blowing the horn?\"\n\n\"And if y'all were even THINKING about going for a little joyride, forget about it!\" the Absol scolds. \"We ain't stupid enough to leave the reverser in place when we're not inside, and this is exactly why!\"\n\n\"I swear, we weren't going to d-drive it, s-sir!\" Layne lies.\n\n\"Yeah yeah, you can explain it all to the yardmaster! Just be warned, he won't be playing nice at all.\" the Absol responds. He didn't believe them, nor did the Flygon...Layne hadn't hidden his camera fast enough.\n\nBoth him and Spencer are made to trot across the tracks over to the yard office, where they are met by a Jolteon and an Umbreon, both of whom are wearing hard hats and safety vests, the Jolteon's being orange and the Umbreon's being bright green. Neither one of them look happy at all.\n\n\"Got the little trespassers.\" the Absol speaks as he stops and pushes Layne and Spencer slightly ahead of him. \"I have a good feeling of why they're here, but i'll let them explain it to you, Mr. Rubio.\"\n\nThe Umbreon nods.\n\n\"Alright, Robert...let's go. We've still got burgers to finish.\" the Flygon says.\n\n\"Yes, Corey.\" Robert nods in response, before the two of them start to head off, the Absol muttering some swear words underneath his breath.\n\n\"H-hi...\" Spencer nervously chuckles.\n\n\"H-hello...\" Layne sweatdrops, doing a little wave with a nervous chuckle of his own.\n\nThe Umbreon turns to the Jolteon, motioning with a paw. After the Jolteon heads off elsewhere, the Umbreon looks back at Layne and Spencer, and clears his throat before speaking.\n\n\"Do you know what you've gotten yourselves into?\" he asks in a Tejano accent.\n\n\"Uhh...b-big t-t-trouble?\" Spencer stutters in response.\n\nThe Umbreon slowly nods. \"That's right. Were those No Trespassing, Private Property signs not enough to tell you to stay away? And on top of it, the antics you got up to in the cab are a felony.\" he informs them, sending chills up their spines.\n\n\"F-felony?\" Spencer whimpers.\n\n\"W-we aren't g-gonna go to j-juvie, a-are we?\" Layne mutters in response. \"P-please tell us n-no...M-Mister R-Rubio.\" he pleads after getting a good look at the Umbreon's nametag.\n\n\"That depends on what you two tell us. The more truthful, the better your odds are.\" Mr. Rubio then pulls out a piece of paper and a pencil. \"Now boys, i want your names. Now. And i better not get any Seymour Butts or Amanda Hugginkisses.\"\n\nNeither of them hesitated.\n\n\"L-Layne Autzen.\" the Turtwig tells him.\n\n\"S-Spencer...K-K-Kronen...w-wetter.\"\n\nMr. Rubio, after asking Spencer how it's spelled, writes them both down. \"Your parents' phone numbers. Do ya know 'em?\"\n\nLayne and Spencer give them to the Umbreon who writes those down as well.\n\n\"Alright. Now...\" Mr. Rubio puts the paper and pencil in a pocket before glaring at the Turtwig and Piplup. \"What in the name of Arceus possessed y'all to not only waltz into this yard, but go up in the cab of an idle locomotive?\"\n\n\"Uhh...\" Layne utters. \"W-we were...w-we were f-filming!\"\n\n\"Y-yeah!\" Spencer nods.\n\n\"Not good enough.\" Mr. Rubio shakes his head. \"Most railfans know where they aren't allowed to go, and take their pictures and videos from where it's safe. Now, Robert and Corey told me they could hear you talking when they got real close. Almost like you were...talking to someone. Or something.\" the Umbreon narrows his eyes.\n\nLayne slowly nods, neither him nor Spencer able to think of any excuses that would be the slightest bit plausible. \"I i-i was...s-shooting a v-video.\"\n\n\"And?\"\n\n\"W-well...m-my subscriber count on MewTube and view counts...t-they've been going up lately.\" Layne confesses. \"And i t-thought t-this would be a g-great way to r-really break through, a-and so did S-Spencer.\"\n\n\"Uh-huh...we didn't mean to damage anything.\" Spencer assures him.\n\n\"And i was g-going to...d-drive it.\" Layne admits. \"Only for a short distance.\n\nMr. Rubio focuses on Layne's face. And then Spencer's. Then looks up. Just as he suspected. The self smack of his forepaw that immediately followed suit probably echoed across the whole railyard.\n\n\"Y-you...w-were going to drive the train...and possibly endanger yourselves...all for a stupid little MewTube video?\"\n\nLayne and Spencer both nod. \"Y-yeah, but i don't see how we could've gotten hurt.\" Spencer speaks up. \"Layne and i play train simulators quite a lot.\"\n\n\"Oh for-\" Mr. Rubio stops himself from facepalming again. \"You think that makes ya qualified? This isn't like a game or a model railway where in DCC mode, you push buttons to go forwards and backwards or whatever. And besides...even if you originally planned on going a short distance, temptation could've taken over and you could've decided to go to Houston or Victoria or wherever.\" the Umbreon begins to scold. \"What would happen if the train went too fast into a town and derailed going around a curve? What if you collided into another train or another freight car head on? You boys don't know the rail network like we do. Think about it.\"\n\nMr. Rubio takes a few steps closer to Layne and Spencer before suddenly snatching a paw and a flipper. \"Come with me.\"\n\nHe then makes them trot with him past a yard office, over to a small shed. Layne asks what he'll do next, but doesn't get any response. The Umbreon opens up the door shed and makes Layne and Spencer go inside before closing it behind them. Still wondering what the Umbreon is up to, they then watch as he opens up a cabinet and pulls out a small box.\n\n\"You were looking for a lot of views with trying to drive a train.\" Mr. Rubio speaks. \"And you're right...you would've gotten a lot. If everything went well and you survived.\"\n\nHe opens up the box and pulls something out of it - a paddle. Brown on one side, gray or silver on the other. As soon as Layne and Spencer see it, they gulp, having a good idea as to what's gonna be done with it...\n\n\"I have two Eevee kids back home in San Antonio that are about your ages. A 10-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.\" Mr. Rubio informs them. \"What's about to happen to you, is what would happen to them if they did this. I paddle their little asses any time they REALLY screw up. And i keep a written log of it too.\"\n\n\"Y-you...y-you can't be serious!\" Spencer shouts.\n\n\"P-please d-don't spank us!\" Layne pleads. \"Just send us h-home to our p-parents and let them do it!\"\n\nMr. Rubio shakes his head. \"This isn't up to either of you. You could've gotten yourselves and others seriously injured or killed if the reverser had been left in the engine.\" he states before pointing to an open space between two sets of closed windows. \"Go over to that wall. Put your feet and flippers up against it, and don't move. Do you understand?\"\n\n\"M-Mister R-Rubio, please...\" Layne mutters.\n\n\"Go over there. Now.\" the Umbreon orders in a firmer voice. \"I'm not telling you again.\"\n\nReluctantly, Layne and Spencer do as they are told, bracing for what's to come. Mr. Rubio gives the paddle a few taps as they head over and position themselves in place. It's about 15 seconds of silence before Mr. Rubio delivers the first swat to the seat of Layne's shorts.\n\n*THWAP!*\n\n\"Yeowch!\" Layne exclaims, immediately feeling the burn. A second after, there's a second thwap, followed by Spencer letting out a yelp of his own.\n\n*THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!*\n\nMany \"Ows\", \"Ouchs\" and \"Yeows\" ensued, with some pleas for the spanking to stop sprinkled in, but those fell on deaf ears. Mr. Rubio continued delivering swat after swat to Layne and Spencer's butts, Layne getting the brown side of the paddle, and Spencer getting the gray side, the Umbreon alternating colors with incredible precision like he'd definitely done this before. Even as the sniffles begin and tears well up, that still isn't quite enough to get Mr. Rubio to stop, who is determined to make sure that they NEVER again try what they did today. Or anything else dangerous around railroad property, for that matter.\n\n*THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!*\n\n\"Ouch!\" \"*sniffle\" W-we're sorry!\" \"Y-yeah...it w-won't h-happen aga-ha-hain!\"\n\nLayne and Spencer may have had shorts to shield their butts, but with how much they were burning right now, they might as well have had no cover at all. After about two minutes of being spanked, Mr. Rubio finally gives the last swats and puts the paddle back in the box, the Turtwig and Piplup now in tears.\n\n\"It's done.\" he speaks. \"You may turn around now.\"\n\nLayne and Spencer do so, continuing to cry as Spencer furiously rubs his now certainly red backside, while Layne struggles to try rubbing his with his back feet. This was one situation where being a quadruped didn't help. Neither of them had expected to get spanked by a railroad employee...well...ever. They were both shocked and embarrassed about it. Good thing no one else saw or came in.\n\n\"Now...are you going to try anything like that again?\" Mr. Rubio asks in a serious tone.\n\nLayne and Spencer shake their heads furiously. \"N-no, s-sir!\" Layne responds between sniffles. \"N-never again. W-we w-won't h-have to be t-told twihice...\" Spencer responds as he cries.\n\nThey seem sincere, so the Umbreon leads them out of the shed and back outside, over to two officers for the Union Pacific Police Department, a Samurott and a Lopunny, who have a very stern talk with the boys. Luckily, they are spared a few days in juvenile hall, but both are given huge fines, as well as a temporary ban from the railyard, and if they are caught on the property again until the ban is up, juvenile hall will be where they go next.\n\nTheir parents were informed about what happened, and were frightened and displeased with their boys. They didn't have any issue with Mr. Rubio giving them the spanking that he did - rather, they were in agreement that they were deserved. It is during this time that the Turtwig's parents learn of his MewTube and email accounts. When Layne and Spencer got home, they got spanked again, and were grounded from certain things for the rest of their summer break, Layne also being made to give the passwords to his MewTube and email over.\n\nWhile Layne's MewTube wasn't closed, he won't be getting access back for a long while. Nor will he get his camera back until then. Fortunately for them, the incident didn't make any news headlines. Not regional or national ones, anyway. And it's safe to say those train crews are more thankful for removeable reverser keys than ever.",
"writing_bbcode_parsed": "<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>Down in South Texas, somewhere between the cities of Corpus Christi, Victoria and Bay City, lies the town of Leaf Springs, with a population of around 5,500. Like most places its size, things are generally more laid-back, run at a slower pace, and it&#039;s not known for much, but it is home to Union Pacific&#039;s Thunderbolt Yard, a pretty active place for train activity with about 30 to 40 tracks, a bit of switching duty and train assembly going on, as well as a small shop that&#039;s mostly used for freight car maintenance. It&#039;s also often used for trains to stop for crew switches and/or for crews to take their breaks.<br /><br />Some days are busier than others, and regardless of the traffic, many a railfanning Pokemon, both young and old, have come down here from surrounding areas to take pictures and/or shoot film of trains. Today, two third graders plan to do just that.<br /><br />&quot;Here we are, Spenny!&quot; A 9-year-old Turtwig named Layne says to his best friend, a 9-year-old Piplup named Spencer.<br /><br />&quot;Awesome! You got your camera with you, Layney boy?&quot; Spencer responds back as they finish crossing Karnes Street, the last point before the tracks ahead of them.<br /><br />&quot;Of course.&quot; Layne nods. &quot;Safely underneath the zippered shorts pocket.&quot; he adds, hopping the fence first, Spencer doing the same once Layne is across. &quot; You remember why we&#039;re going the long way this time, don&#039;t cha?&quot;<br /><br />Spencer looks to the left, able to see where most of the tracks are, and some freight cars too. &quot;Oh yeah...you said somethin&#039; about how this would make your channel get real big.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Uh-huh...keep an eye out for security guards or railroad cops. We can&#039;t have &#039;em catchin&#039; us.&quot; Layne whispers to Spencer as the two look both ways before crossing one of the tracks, and begin making their way closer to the yard.<br /><br />Now, most railfans know it&#039;s always best and safe to stand back a reasonable distance from the tracks. Layne and Spencer are among them...usually. However, social media clout, regardless of how small or big it actually is, has made many a Pokemon do stupid things, especially the younger they are. In Layne&#039;s case, getting 20 subscribers on a MewTube channel he set up by himself, and two videos of his getting over 500 views, is enough to warrant taking a big risk, and it took some convincing, but Spencer agreed.<br /><br />Their plan? Only a few days into their summer break, they were going to spend a whole day taking pictures and videos of trains coming and going at various spots of Thunderbolt Yard, going from spot to spot in order to lower the chances of getting caught by the railroad police, and the potential of train crews spotting them and reporting them. It would make for amazing close-up shots, Layne said. Especially if they happened to see any locomotives still donning their Southern Pacific or Cotton Belt liveries, patched or unpatched.<br /><br />So far, no problem. The yard isn&#039;t particularly active at this time with only a few tracks having consists standing still, most of which are tanker cars that are likely either loaded with, or soon to be loaded with liquids from nearby chemical plants.<br /><br />&quot;Quiet...but that&#039;s bound to change.&quot; Layne whispers, both him and Spencer occasionally glancing around to make sure no trains happen to be coming before deciding to cross any more tracks.<br /><br />&quot;Mm-hmm.&quot; Spencer quickly nods. After crossing a couple of tracks to make their way into an open space with the tracks on one side and tracks on another being about 20 feet apart, the two mons spot a set of white lights in the distance.<br /><br />&quot;How about that? Not even five minutes after getting here.&quot; Layne chuckles.<br /><br />&quot;Yeah, we usually have to wait like 15 minutes.&quot; Spencer remarks. They watch as the train pulls into the yard, going down one of the tracks before pulling into a siding, noticing it continually getting slower. It&#039;s pulling quite a few cars that they can see, so this is most likely either a break time or a crew change.<br /><br />&quot;Picture time.&quot; Layne says to Spencer, smiling as he quickly unzips his left shorts pocket and pulls out the camera, a compact navy blue model. As the train comes to a stop, Layne turns the camera on, glad to see that the batteries are still charged fully, and adjusts a few settings. The Turtwig and Piplup are both careful not to draw any attention to themselves as two Pokemon, an Absol and a Flygon, step out of the cab. And while they&#039;re distant, they can still hear what&#039;s being said.<br /><br />&quot;Isidoro usually brings plates for everyone today, doesn&#039;t he?&quot; &quot;Correct, Robert. But even if today&#039;s an exception, i&#039;m still gettin&#039; us something different. I&#039;m rather burnt out on cold sandwiches and protein bars, aren&#039;t you?&quot; &quot;Absolutely.&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer watch as the Absol and Flygon look both ways as they cross the tracks on their way over to a nearby yard office. They definitely know at least one of the yard workers over here. With the train crew busy with other things, Layne motions for his friend to follow him as they walk closer to the locomotive. They&#039;re both delighted once they get a good look.<br /><br />&quot;Wow...&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Didn&#039;t expect our train day to start off with this.&quot;<br /><br />The lead unit of this now idle train, is a Union Pacific GP60, number 2070 - but still donning its old Southern Pacific Speed Lettering livery asides the patches on the numberboards and hood shield, and looking surprisingly clean for an old SP locomotive that hasn&#039;t even been fully repainted.<br /><br />&quot;Man, Layne...you&#039;re lucky to have your own MewTube.&quot; Spencer says, observing the leaf turtle snap a few photos on his camera from different angles. &quot;I do have a camera coming in the mail soon. Looks just like yours, only it&#039;s red. But MewTube isn&#039;t in the cards. Mom and dad watch what i do on my phone very closely, including email, and there&#039;s no way they&#039;ll let me have an account. It&#039;s stupid.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;That sucks.&quot; Layne responds. &quot;Maybe someday, they&#039;ll change their minds. Remember, my own parents were unsure about this whole MewTube thing themselves at first.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;I sure hope they do...&quot; the penguin sighs. Just then, Layne happens to notice something - the train crew neglected to close the cab door on the left side before heading off. A sudden wave of temptation overcomes him, and he suddenly giggles.<br /><br />&quot;What&#039;s so funny, Layney?&quot;<br /><br />The Turtwig turns back to face Spencer. &quot;Spence...i have a very crazy idea.&quot;<br /><br />Spencer blinks. &quot; What would that be?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Well, what if...&quot; Layne begins. &quot;we sneak up inside the cab? And, uh...drive the train?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;What?!&quot; Spencer shouts. &quot; Are you sure that&#039;s a good idea?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Shh!&quot; Layne shushes. &quot; It sounds good on paper. Heck, i saw this video the other day of a Pancham our age, in the cab of a locomotive like this doing some switching maneuvers at a yard in Iowa. And it got a bunch of views! I&#039;m talking like hundreds of thousands. If he can do it, why can&#039;t we do it too?&quot;<br /><br />The Piplup puts a flipper to his chin and gives it a few seconds of thought. &quot;Hmm...alright, i&#039;m fine with that. Just don&#039;t do anything crazy like try driving us to San Antonio or Houston, alright?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Haha! I won&#039;t.&quot; Layne laughs as he begins walking towards the steps. &quot; And i have more than enough experience on train simulators to know what i&#039;m doing.&quot;<br /><br />Spencer follows the Turtwig, the two being very careful as they climb up the steps onto the locomotive. And then the steps on the left side leading up into the cab. After taking one last look to make sure no one&#039;s around to see them, Layne and Spencer both walk into the cab, the Piplup closing the door behind him, and are greeted by the interior setup as soon as they turn around.<br /><br />&quot;Wow, this is even better than in the games!&quot; &quot;I can&#039;t believe i&#039;m seeing it up close, can you?&quot;<br /><br />They can see just about everything they could recognize. There&#039;s also a few switches, one of which turns on lights for the gauges so they&#039;re easier to see at night.<br /><br />Of course, there&#039;s also switches for both the front and rear headlights, the throttle, and one last thing-<br /><br />&quot;Huh?&quot;<br /><br />Well, there should be. Only, where the reverser is supposed to be, there isn&#039;t a handle.<br /><br />&quot;Aww man, no reverser?&quot; Layne laments.<br /><br />&quot;Can&#039;t go anywhere without that.&quot; Spencer points out.<br /><br />&quot;Mm-mm.&quot; the leaf turtle shakes his head, before pulling up his camera. &quot;Ah well, this&#039;ll make for good MewTube content.&quot; he says, optimism returning as he goes to get a video started. As soon as recording begins, he speaks into the camera. &quot;Howdy, MewTube! Refugio Railfan here. Today, me and my good friend Spencer are inside the cab of a train.&quot; he then points the camera towards Spencer, who waves at it. &quot;Hello!&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Not what you expected today, is it?&quot; Layne says to the camera with a chuckle, continuing to hold it up. &quot;Well, i was going to try and drive it a very short distance. But the reverser&#039;s missing, so we&#039;ll just explore. And show you one or two of these buttons.&quot;<br /><br />Layne begins showing the hopeful viewers around, first showing them the walkway through the window that leads to the rear of the locomotive, and what looks to be another GP-series Union Pacific locomotive in full Armour Yellow, though he can&#039;t tell what the exact model or number is. Even though there&#039;s no way they can drive it, Layne and Spencer are very delighted to be up in this cab.<br /><br />&quot;Ooh, i&#039;m gonna be famous!&quot; Spencer cheers, clapping his flippers.<br /><br />&quot;So am i.&quot; Layne adds before walking over to the controls. &quot;Okay, y&#039;all see all this? These are what all the train crews use to drive! I dunno what all these buttons and switches mean, but i know some. There&#039;s the wheel slip, there&#039;s the sander...and then down here is the headlights. Let me show ya how it works.&quot;<br /><br />Layne reaches over to the switch for the front headlights with a foreleg, and pushes them all the way to the other side to turn them off. Then pushing it all the way back on a few seconds later.<br /><br />&quot;There ya go!&quot; Layne shouts. &quot;It&#039;d be easier to see if it was night. Oh well, it works. Now...time for the bell.&quot;<br /><br />Layne goes over to the button for the bell and pushes it with the same foreleg. He and Spencer both smile at one another once the bell begins to ring, a steel bell from the sounds of it.<br /><br />&quot;Yay!&quot; Spencer claps his flippers.<br /><br />&quot;Awesome!&quot; Layne cheers.<br /><br />&quot;Blow the horn, Layne!&quot; Spencer encourages. &quot;Up in the chair. Horn valve&#039;s right there!&quot;<br /><br />&quot;That&#039;s just what i planned on doing next!&quot; Layne gets the bell to cut off. &quot; Now for what you&#039;ve all been waiting for...&quot;<br /><br />the Turtwig puts his camera back in the shorts pocket for a moment so he can hop up into the chair. He manages to do so, and after turning it to where it&#039;s facing the horn valve, pulls the camera back out.<br /><br />&quot;Let &#039;er rip, Layney!&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Alright! 1...2...3!&quot;<br /><br />With the camera facing directly at the horn valve, Layne puts his right foreleg to it and pulls down hard. The Nathan P3 this GP60 is equipped with quickly comes to life. He lets it blast for about ten seconds before letting go of the valve, Spencer cheering and clapping happily once again.<br /><br />&quot;Yes! Y&#039;all have no idea how long we&#039;ve been waiting to actually get to do this!&quot; Layne shouts happily, jumping around in the engineer&#039;s chair. &quot;Let&#039;s do it again!&quot;<br /><br />The right foreleg goes back to the horn valve and Layne blasts it again, this time for another ten seconds.<br /><br />&quot;I could do this all day!&quot; the Turtwig exclaims just before letting go of the valve. &quot;There&#039;s also wipers and mirrors, but neither me nor Spencer can reach those dials. And showing y&#039;all elsewhere inside the cab would take us too long.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Uh-huh!&quot; Spencer nods.<br /><br />&quot;Yep! So...that&#039;s it for now! I&#039;ll have more trains later!&quot;<br /><br />Just after Layne stops recording...<br /><br />&quot;HEY!&quot;<br /><br />Both Layne and Spencer are startled by a shout, and the excitement they felt immediately vanishes when they hear feet storming up the train steps...and the Absol that they saw earlier immediately comes into sight, visibly ticked off as he quickly swings the door open, immediately spotting them.<br /><br />&quot;What the...what are you kids up to?!&quot; the Absol demands.<br /><br />Layne and Spencer gulp. &quot;W-we...w-we can explain.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Oh, i&#039;m dyin&#039; to hear it! But first, both of you get your asses out of this cab, and off this train, NOW!!!&quot; the Absol bellows. &quot;Don&#039;t even try, or think about touching another Arceus-damned thing, do you understand me?!&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer rapidly nod in response, now rather scared as they rush to get out, the Absol following them down the steps, who gives their backsides hellacious swats with his paws which gets them to let out yelps. They also come across the Flygon from earlier, who looks just as ticked and unamused as his Absol coworker.<br /><br />&quot;What the fuck were you even trying to do?!&quot; the Flygon shouts. &quot;Did you really think no one would hear you blowing the horn?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;And if y&#039;all were even THINKING about going for a little joyride, forget about it!&quot; the Absol scolds. &quot; We ain&#039;t stupid enough to leave the reverser in place when we&#039;re not inside, and this is exactly why!&quot;<br /><br />&quot;I swear, we weren&#039;t going to d-drive it, s-sir!&quot; Layne lies.<br /><br />&quot;Yeah yeah, you can explain it all to the yardmaster! Just be warned, he won&#039;t be playing nice at all.&quot; the Absol responds. He didn&#039;t believe them, nor did the Flygon...Layne hadn&#039;t hidden his camera fast enough.<br /><br />Both him and Spencer are made to trot across the tracks over to the yard office, where they are met by a Jolteon and an Umbreon, both of whom are wearing hard hats and safety vests, the Jolteon&#039;s being orange and the Umbreon&#039;s being bright green. Neither one of them look happy at all.<br /><br />&quot;Got the little trespassers.&quot; the Absol speaks as he stops and pushes Layne and Spencer slightly ahead of him. &quot;I have a good feeling of why they&#039;re here, but i&#039;ll let them explain it to you, Mr. Rubio.&quot;<br /><br />The Umbreon nods.<br /><br />&quot;Alright, Robert...let&#039;s go. We&#039;ve still got burgers to finish.&quot; the Flygon says.<br /><br />&quot;Yes, Corey.&quot; Robert nods in response, before the two of them start to head off, the Absol muttering some swear words underneath his breath.<br /><br />&quot;H-hi...&quot; Spencer nervously chuckles.<br /><br />&quot;H-hello...&quot; Layne sweatdrops, doing a little wave with a nervous chuckle of his own.<br /><br />The Umbreon turns to the Jolteon, motioning with a paw. After the Jolteon heads off elsewhere, the Umbreon looks back at Layne and Spencer, and clears his throat before speaking.<br /><br />&quot;Do you know what you&#039;ve gotten yourselves into?&quot; he asks in a Tejano accent.<br /><br />&quot;Uhh...b-big t-t-trouble?&quot; Spencer stutters in response.<br /><br />The Umbreon slowly nods. &quot;That&#039;s right. Were those No Trespassing, Private Property signs not enough to tell you to stay away? And on top of it, the antics you got up to in the cab are a felony.&quot; he informs them, sending chills up their spines.<br /><br />&quot;F-felony?&quot; Spencer whimpers.<br /><br />&quot;W-we aren&#039;t g-gonna go to j-juvie, a-are we?&quot; Layne mutters in response. &quot;P-please tell us n-no...M-Mister R-Rubio.&quot; he pleads after getting a good look at the Umbreon&#039;s nametag.<br /><br />&quot;That depends on what you two tell us. The more truthful, the better your odds are.&quot; Mr. Rubio then pulls out a piece of paper and a pencil. &quot; Now boys, i want your names. Now. And i better not get any Seymour Butts or Amanda Hugginkisses.&quot;<br /><br />Neither of them hesitated.<br /><br />&quot;L-Layne Autzen.&quot; the Turtwig tells him.<br /><br />&quot;S-Spencer...K-K-Kronen...w-wetter.&quot;<br /><br />Mr. Rubio, after asking Spencer how it&#039;s spelled, writes them both down. &quot;Your parents&#039; phone numbers. Do ya know &#039;em?&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer give them to the Umbreon who writes those down as well.<br /><br />&quot;Alright. Now...&quot; Mr. Rubio puts the paper and pencil in a pocket before glaring at the Turtwig and Piplup. &quot; What in the name of Arceus possessed y&#039;all to not only waltz into this yard, but go up in the cab of an idle locomotive?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Uhh...&quot; Layne utters. &quot;W-we were...w-we were f-filming!&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Y-yeah!&quot; Spencer nods.<br /><br />&quot;Not good enough.&quot; Mr. Rubio shakes his head. &quot; Most railfans know where they aren&#039;t allowed to go, and take their pictures and videos from where it&#039;s safe. Now, Robert and Corey told me they could hear you talking when they got real close. Almost like you were...talking to someone. Or something.&quot; the Umbreon narrows his eyes.<br /><br />Layne slowly nods, neither him nor Spencer able to think of any excuses that would be the slightest bit plausible. &quot;I i-i was...s-shooting a v-video.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;And?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;W-well...m-my subscriber count on MewTube and view counts...t-they&#039;ve been going up lately.&quot; Layne confesses. &quot; And i t-thought t-this would be a g-great way to r-really break through, a-and so did S-Spencer.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Uh-huh...we didn&#039;t mean to damage anything.&quot; Spencer assures him.<br /><br />&quot;And i was g-going to...d-drive it.&quot; Layne admits. &quot;Only for a short distance.<br /><br />Mr. Rubio focuses on Layne&#039;s face. And then Spencer&#039;s. Then looks up. Just as he suspected. The self smack of his forepaw that immediately followed suit probably echoed across the whole railyard.<br /><br />&quot;Y-you...w-were going to drive the train...and possibly endanger yourselves...all for a stupid little MewTube video?&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer both nod. &quot;Y-yeah, but i don&#039;t see how we could&#039;ve gotten hurt.&quot; Spencer speaks up. &quot;Layne and i play train simulators quite a lot.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Oh for-&quot; Mr. Rubio stops himself from facepalming again. &quot; You think that makes ya qualified? This isn&#039;t like a game or a model railway where in DCC mode, you push buttons to go forwards and backwards or whatever. And besides...even if you originally planned on going a short distance, temptation could&#039;ve taken over and you could&#039;ve decided to go to Houston or Victoria or wherever.&quot; the Umbreon begins to scold. &quot; What would happen if the train went too fast into a town and derailed going around a curve? What if you collided into another train or another freight car head on? You boys don&#039;t know the rail network like we do. Think about it.&quot;<br /><br />Mr. Rubio takes a few steps closer to Layne and Spencer before suddenly snatching a paw and a flipper. &quot;Come with me.&quot;<br /><br />He then makes them trot with him past a yard office, over to a small shed. Layne asks what he&#039;ll do next, but doesn&#039;t get any response. The Umbreon opens up the door shed and makes Layne and Spencer go inside before closing it behind them. Still wondering what the Umbreon is up to, they then watch as he opens up a cabinet and pulls out a small box.<br /><br />&quot;You were looking for a lot of views with trying to drive a train.&quot; Mr. Rubio speaks. &quot; And you&#039;re right...you would&#039;ve gotten a lot. If everything went well and you survived.&quot;<br /><br />He opens up the box and pulls something out of it - a paddle. Brown on one side, gray or silver on the other. As soon as Layne and Spencer see it, they gulp, having a good idea as to what&#039;s gonna be done with it...<br /><br />&quot;I have two Eevee kids back home in San Antonio that are about your ages. A 10-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter.&quot; Mr. Rubio informs them. &quot;What&#039;s about to happen to you, is what would happen to them if they did this. I paddle their little asses any time they REALLY screw up. And i keep a written log of it too.&quot;<br /><br />&quot;Y-you...y-you can&#039;t be serious!&quot; Spencer shouts.<br /><br />&quot;P-please d-don&#039;t spank us!&quot; Layne pleads. &quot;Just send us h-home to our p-parents and let them do it!&quot;<br /><br />Mr. Rubio shakes his head. &quot; This isn&#039;t up to either of you. You could&#039;ve gotten yourselves and others seriously injured or killed if the reverser had been left in the engine.&quot; he states before pointing to an open space between two sets of closed windows. &quot;Go over to that wall. Put your feet and flippers up against it, and don&#039;t move. Do you understand?&quot;<br /><br />&quot;M-Mister R-Rubio, please...&quot; Layne mutters.<br /><br />&quot;Go over there. Now.&quot; the Umbreon orders in a firmer voice. &quot;I&#039;m not telling you again.&quot;<br /><br />Reluctantly, Layne and Spencer do as they are told, bracing for what&#039;s to come. Mr. Rubio gives the paddle a few taps as they head over and position themselves in place. It&#039;s about 15 seconds of silence before Mr. Rubio delivers the first swat to the seat of Layne&#039;s shorts.<br /><br />*THWAP!*<br /><br />&quot;Yeowch!&quot; Layne exclaims, immediately feeling the burn. A second after, there&#039;s a second thwap, followed by Spencer letting out a yelp of his own.<br /><br />*THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!*<br /><br />Many &quot;Ows&quot;, &quot;Ouchs&quot; and &quot;Yeows&quot; ensued, with some pleas for the spanking to stop sprinkled in, but those fell on deaf ears. Mr. Rubio continued delivering swat after swat to Layne and Spencer&#039;s butts, Layne getting the brown side of the paddle, and Spencer getting the gray side, the Umbreon alternating colors with incredible precision like he&#039;d definitely done this before. Even as the sniffles begin and tears well up, that still isn&#039;t quite enough to get Mr. Rubio to stop, who is determined to make sure that they NEVER again try what they did today. Or anything else dangerous around railroad property, for that matter.<br /><br />*THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!* *THWAP!*<br /><br />&quot;Ouch!&quot; &quot;*sniffle&quot; W-we&#039;re sorry!&quot; &quot;Y-yeah...it w-won&#039;t h-happen aga-ha-hain!&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer may have had shorts to shield their butts, but with how much they were burning right now, they might as well have had no cover at all. After about two minutes of being spanked, Mr. Rubio finally gives the last swats and puts the paddle back in the box, the Turtwig and Piplup now in tears.<br /><br />&quot;It&#039;s done.&quot; he speaks. &quot; You may turn around now.&quot;<br /><br />Layne and Spencer do so, continuing to cry as Spencer furiously rubs his now certainly red backside, while Layne struggles to try rubbing his with his back feet. This was one situation where being a quadruped didn&#039;t help. Neither of them had expected to get spanked by a railroad employee...well...ever. They were both shocked and embarrassed about it. Good thing no one else saw or came in.<br /><br />&quot;Now...are you going to try anything like that again?&quot; Mr. Rubio asks in a serious tone.<br /><br />Layne and Spencer shake their heads furiously. &quot;N-no, s-sir!&quot; Layne responds between sniffles. &quot;N-never again. W-we w-won&#039;t h-have to be t-told twihice...&quot; Spencer responds as he cries.<br /><br />They seem sincere, so the Umbreon leads them out of the shed and back outside, over to two officers for the Union Pacific Police Department, a Samurott and a Lopunny, who have a very stern talk with the boys. Luckily, they are spared a few days in juvenile hall, but both are given huge fines, as well as a temporary ban from the railyard, and if they are caught on the property again until the ban is up, juvenile hall will be where they go next.<br /><br />Their parents were informed about what happened, and were frightened and displeased with their boys. They didn&#039;t have any issue with Mr. Rubio giving them the spanking that he did - rather, they were in agreement that they were deserved. It is during this time that the Turtwig&#039;s parents learn of his MewTube and email accounts. When Layne and Spencer got home, they got spanked again, and were grounded from certain things for the rest of their summer break, Layne also being made to give the passwords to his MewTube and email over.<br /><br />While Layne&#039;s MewTube wasn&#039;t closed, he won&#039;t be getting access back for a long while. Nor will he get his camera back until then. Fortunately for them, the incident didn&#039;t make any news headlines. Not regional or national ones, anyway. And it&#039;s safe to say those train crews are more thankful for removeable reverser keys than ever.</span>",
