the beckoning of the large rat who’d been eyeing him up for an hour or so now, Kyy approached cautiously, watching as the rodent dismissed what seemed to be either subordinates or very smartly dressed lackeys. Taking a vacant seat, he merely raised an eyebrow questioningly at the larger man, on guard as he looked him over. The rat looked as though he was either a minor noble or an envoy of someone more important, a smart tunic and pants covered by light armour with a crest he didn’t recognise, what with being new to the continent. His boots appeared clean but well worn, and a short sword hung from his belt, the scabbard decorated ornately but the hilt and pommel were much less fancy and easier to wield, which was evident by the wear on the leather-wrapped grip.\n\n“You’re probably wondering why I called you over” he offered to the cat’s inquisitive look, his voice deep and gruff yet friendly “...you don’t seem like a regular traveller, plus….” the rodent looked the cheetah over, his lithe yet muscular frame covered only by his open, sleeveless vest and a short loincloth suspended from his belt, one the cat carried for townships that required at least a basic level of what they considered “decent” clothing. In contrast to the rat’s boots, the cat was barefoot which intrigued him, it was common for even the poor in these parts to have even basic footwear “....you look like someone who can hold their own in a fight. I like that...those too, what are they?”. The Sai on his belt was another thing that had caught the rat’s eye, not a common weapon on the continent.\n\nKyy’s hackles went up, the cat shifting almost imperceptibly in readiness for a fight if needed, but the rat held his hands up, eyes keen enough to have noticed the muscles moving “ no no, I’m not challenging you or anything, you’ve merely caught my attention. It’s so dull in this city, so it’s nice when someone or something different comes along, and you, my friend, are very interesting. Name’s Ro” he extended a hand for a handshake.\n\n“Kyyanno, but most call me Kyy.” He leaned forwards, relaxing just a little as he took the rat’s hand in his own, shaking it in greeting. The rat’s claws were well manicured, but his pads had swordsman’s calluses which told the cheetah he was well used to using the sword. “So what makes me interesting?” the cat asked, sitting back in his seat and resting one ankle over the knee of the other leg, hoping the relaxed position would assure Ro’s men that he’d easily spotted watching them from around the edges of the tavern that he posed no risk.\n\nRo chuckled, noting the cat’s eyes flicking briefly to the sides of the room, and he waved a hand dismissively “You’re good, I’ll give you that - I told them not to be obvious, and they usually aren’t!” he picked up his tankard, draining the last of it, and caught the eye of the tavernkeeper’s assistant, raising two fingers and pointing at the table. “So, what makes you interesting? Just about everything sat before me… Your markings, your weaponry, your...clothing, if you can call it that…” the rat smirked at the last comment, and Kyy was sure that the crotch of the rodent’s pants swelled a little, but dismissed it for now. Two tankards of ale arrived at the table, Ro fishing into a pouch on his belt and paying for the drinks. Kyy figured that sating the rat’s curiosity would be fair recompense for the ale, and after taking a drink, began to give answers.\n\nSeveral ales later, both knew more about each other and the continents they came from, Ro offering as much in return as Kyy answered. It was soon getting late, and Kyy thought about making his excuses to leave to find somewhere to bed down for the night, he was sure he’d seen a stable nearby with a hayloft. “Nonsense!” Ro exclaimed as Kyy stated his intentions “You’re my guest tonight! For entertaining an old rat for so long, you’ll sleep in a comfortable warm bed at my residence, and I’ll not take no for an answer.” Kyy was taken aback at the offer, and thanked him profusely, the pair leaving the tavern with a couple of Ro’s men in tow for security as they walked, their pace relaxed and only slightly meandering thanks to the ale. The tavern was in a less well-off part of the city, but soon they were walking through cleaner, more well-maintained streets. A few passers-by gave the cat odd looks, the feline dressed in less than some paupers, but a glance from the rat had them smiling and nodding in greeting. Ro waved the escorts away for the evening as they came to a smart residence, unlocking the door and inviting the cat inside, lanterns in the hallway and up the stairs already lit - there must be staff elsewhere in the house, Kyy thought.\n\nRo locked the door and led the cheetah past doorways that led into rooms furnished ornately, up two flights of broad stairs to a huge room at the top of the house, nearly the size of the bar in the tavern. That’s so much better…” the rat said, stretching out his arms and chest “...such a pain having to wear that when out and about.” He trod on the heel of one boot, pulling his foot free from it, and then did the same with the other, leaving him as barefoot as the cat. Kyy continued to look around the room, noticing what looked like door-sized windows off to one side.\n\n“Those are huge windows…” he said, walking over to them, Ro following. The rat chuckled, opening the latches and stepping out onto the large balcony outside, Kyy following through, amazed that someone would have doors made from so much glass. Ro swept his arm invitingly, Kyy walking to the edge and leaning on the railings, looking out over the city. They were further uphill from where the evening had started, and so they could see all the way down to the city walls, and further out into the countryside. “Now that’s a view…” Kyy whistled appreciatively.\n\n“You’re not wrong there, cat…” Ro said behind him, the cat’s loincloth only covering his front, giving Ro an unimpeded view of what he’d only caught a glimpse of while Kyy had been sat on the barstool earlier. There was the sound of fabric slipping over fur, and Kyy felt the rat step up behind him, large, muscular arms curling gently around his waist and chest. They were bare, Kyy noted, which meant Ro must have taken his tunic off, the rat’s broad chest pressed up behind the cat’s back, and a rather prominent bulge in his pants rubbing at the cheetah’s exposed rump.\n\n“I get the feeling you didn’t just offer me a bed for the night out of generosity….” the feline chuckled, turning in the rat’s embrace to face him, his open vest leaving them pressing barechested against each other.
