"You gotta just take a hold of it and see what feels right..." came a gruff response from across the room. The smith, a tall, grey-furred and impressing looking Eastern Dragon, looked up from his forge where he was readying tools for work, and had clearly overheard the cat. Kyy looked over at him from the other side of the workshop as he continued "....just pick one off and give it a swing, see if you like the heft of it".
"Thanks, er...." Kyy began, tailing off as he realised he didn't know the smith's name. "Tanith, didn't you see the sign above the door?" laughed the Dragon. "heh....I guess not. I'm Kyy" The cat replied, feeling it polite to offer his name in return, as he turned to the wall and selected a large broadsword, almost a claymore. He lifted it with ease, but found the weapon unwieldy, too used to quicker, more acrobatic bladeplay. "Nope, that's not your size....." the dragon growled "...you'd best put that one back before you hurt yourself....you're hardly wearing enough armour for something that size anyway..." he chuckled, the sound deep and bassy, but friendly. Kyy put the blade back on the rack sheepishly, his garb of his usual sleeveless vest and belt with pouches was fine for everyday wear and quick combat, but would be dangerously underprotective if he had to slow down.
Moving further along the rack, he selected a rapier-like foil, the steel nearly needle thin. He tried a few thrusts and parries with graceful footwork, kicking up dust and straw from the floor. "Not bad....." came the Dragon's deep voice again "....seems you know how to handle a weapon well, though it's not a large one...". Without thinking, the cheetah quipped back "Oh, I can handle allsorts, I've trained with bigger than this....". As he turned, rapier in hand, he saw that the smith had stopped his work to watch him, leaning against the side of the forge's brickwork. It was only now that the feline noted just how tall he was, easily a good 10 feet, if not a touch more, defined musculature standing out on his bare chest and arms beneath the smith's apron, thick leather pants protruding beneath it down to bared, taloned paws. Kyy gulped, realising he was staring, and blushed as he turned to put the rapier back.
"Try the short sword...." the smith suggested "...you may find you like something with more girth than that needle....". Kyy blushed beneath the dark fur of his ears, was he being flirted with? Had Tanith noticed him staring? Nervously, he picked a short sword from further along the wall of blades, twirling it with practiced ease and speed, much quicker than the claymore, slower but with more potential than the rapier. "I like this one...." he said, turning to Tanith, who stepped closer with a motion to put the blade back. "Yeah, that one seemed more your sort of thing, but pop it back, there's another one you might like..."
Kyy had to tear his eyes away from the Dragon's thick arms and chest, dropping them to the sword in his hands, which didn't do him much good as it then brought Tanith's large paws into view. Oh god, he thought, why did I have to pick the hottest blacksmith in town....please don't let it be obvious.... his mind raced, trying to keep lewd thoughts from his brain. Sometimes, his lack of pants could be such a double edged sword. He put the short sword back, almost dropping it as he did so.
"There's a two-hander lower down, I reckon you could manage that..." the smith almost purred, stood close to the cat. Kyy looked down, there was indeed a longsword on the lower rack. As he knelt to take it from its fixings, he heard the sound of a belt buckle, and the soft noise of leather sliding over fur. "Not that one....." came Tanith's rumble, as he felt something warm and heavy land on his shoulder ".....this one....."
Kyy looked left. Tanith's thick black, semi-flaccid barbed shaft, close to a foot long, rested on his shoulder, the dragon holding it in one large hand, his leather pants around his ankles, smith's apron brushed to the side.
Tanith merely grinned "...what? You think I couldn't smell your arousal every time you looked at me? No, I think *this* is what you're after today...."
