A sigh escaped from Milo's mouth as he was standing in front of the door of his boyfriend's apartment. He was alone in the third floor's corridor, a bouquet of many colorful flowers and a heart-shaped box of chocolate in his hands. A couple of individuals did pass him by, giving him a bit weird looks because there he was standing and staring at the door. This irritated Milo a bit, and he had to really take a hold of himself so he wouldn't be roaring at them and command them to take care of their own business. But he didn't really want to start any scene right now, and just focused on at the task at hand. Why was this so hard? He scratched his head a little. Why was he feeling so hesitant? Damien was his boyfriend, there shouldn't be any problems. So then, why was he afraid on knocking the door? Was he afraid of rejection? Why would Damien reject him, though? Maybe… Maybe it was because Damien was such a workaholic and he had been really deep into his work lately, so they hadn't seen each other that much recently, except in the coffeehouse. What if he was interrupting something important? Milo stomped around the hall in a fuming manner, which probably angered some of the residents there, but he didn't care. Then he looked at the door to Damien's apartment again, and he huffed. “Fuck it. Here we go.” With one step Milo moved himself to the door and knocked it loudly. He waited for a moment, his body all tensed up, he heard the sound of unlocking. Then the familiar face showed up from the other side, and the mere sight of Damien melted Milo's heart – he just was so adorable! And Damien seemed to be happy to see him as well, because a smile appeared on his face. “Ah, hey Milo”, Damien spoke with a soft voice. “Glad to see you!” “Um, yeah, hey babe”, Milo stammered little. “Here's some things, for you.” He offered the bouquet of flowers and the chocolate box to Damien who accepted these gifts and grabbed them. He was probably feeling a bit sheepish as a hint of red appeared on his cheeks, which made Milo adore him even more. Damien sniffed the flowers and then looked at Milo lovingly. “Thank you”, he simply said, smiling. Milo scratched the back of his neck and looked away, embarrassedly. Damien tilted his head a little, waiting for his boyfriend to say something. “I, uhhh…“ Milo shifted his gaze back at Damien. “I was thinking if we could go on a date? Since it's Valentine's Day and all… If you don't have anything against it?” “A date sounds wonderful”, Damien replied, his face still decorated with a gentle smile. “I'll just grab my jacket and we're good to go.” “Awesome”, Milo exclaimed, giving a thumbs up for his boyfriend. Moving quickly, Damien took the gifts he had just got further into his apartment, while Milo was waiting at the door. Then he snatched his jacket and put it on even though he wasn't even completely exited his home, checking if he had his keys with him and closed the door. Then they headed to the stairs and began their descend to the first floor. “How does a coffee sound?” Milo asked. “Sure, let's get some”, Damien replied. It took them just a moment to reach the first floor. They walked across the hallway and Milo opened the entrance door, holding it open for Damien, and they stepped outside, where they were welcomed by a bright winter air. The weather was actually nice; it was sunny and it wasn't particularly cold. It was rather pleasant. Side by side Milo and Damien walked through the busy streets, their destination being the coffeehouse where Milo usually worked, but today he had a day off. They walked hand in hand, and got some repulsed looks from some folks that passed by, but Milo looked back at them with such expression that indicated that he would punch their teeth in. Luckily, no confrontations did happen. But it did feel a bit bad that even during this day of love, there were some that didn't accept all forms of love. But, it didn't bother Damien or Milo that much, because those kinds of people didn't belong to their world. They knew that their love was true and no one could claim otherwise, a stranger's opinion didn't matter. Eventually they reached the coffeehouse. A bell chimed as they entered the place and they noticed that it was quite crowded in there. There was pretty much just one table left that wasn't occupied and Damien gave Milo a sign that he would go and reserve it while Milo would order the drinks. It was a nice table next to a window and as Damien sat down, he could watch how folks would come and go. From his spot, he could hear Milo having a friendly conversation with the barista. The voice of the lady he was talking to sounded somewhat familiar and Damien looked at their direction. It was Chloe, Milo's co-worker and friend. Damien didn't really care what they were talking about and just kept staring outside. It didn't take long for Milo to join him, bringing with him two nice cups of espresso. Damien was sipping his coffee when Milo spoke. “So, uhh…” he drummed the table with his hands, looking out of the window. “Is there anything special you want to do?” “Not really”, Damien replied. “But… I think anything is good when it's with you.” Milo looked a bit bewildered for a second, but soon a smile conquered his face. “You know, I love you”, he said, grinning slightly, then took a sip from his coffee. “I love you too”, Damien answered, smiling sheepishly. There it was again. That adorable face that could melt Milo's heart, time and time again. For a while he just stared Damien, that loveliest little dog in the world. He had brought happiness into Milo's life. And for that, he was incredibly grateful. He was so lucky to have such an awesome person like Damien in his life. And in that moment, he felt warm and blissful. He did manage to take his gaze off of his boyfriend and just smiled to himself, drinking coffee while he looked out of the window, following the life of the lively street. Few moments passed by as they were sitting there, chilling and occasionally keeping up a light conversation. And eventually they had drunk all the espresso, which was a sign for them to make their leave. But before they exited the coffeehouse, Milo raised his hand in the air, waved and yelled: “Bye, Chloe!” His friend raised her hand to wave as well, but immersed herself back to her work since she had a customer at the counter. Milo and Damien left the building, the bell chiming again as they stepped to the outside once more. “So”, Milo said, his glance somewhere in the distance. “Would you like to… go to a park or something?” “A stroll around the park?” Damien smiled. “How romantic.” “If that's a stupid idea, then we can do something else”, Milo stated. “No, no, it's fine”, Damien replied. “We can go to the park.” Milo nodded and said: “It's settled then. Let's go.” After lingering around the coffeehouse, they finally started to get going. It seemed like a lot of couples were on the move today. It was like the whole town was bursting with happiness on this day of hearts. Love could be seen everywhere. Milo grabbed Damien's hand once more as they were walking through the streets, sending warm sensations to the hearts of both of them. Their souls were tangled together, and their emotions of love and happiness seemed to strengthen when they managed to get to the park, out of the noise and busy streets. That moment was almost magical. The sounds of traffic could still be heard, but it was subdued. The park truly felt like a winter wonderland. Pure white snow decorated the place in a most beautiful way possible; the trees, the bushes, they had a delicate veil covering them. The light of the sun made the snow glitter, adding a fine touch to the beauty of the nature. Milo and Damien walked on the trail through the park, wondering the magnificence of their surroundings. Since they didn't really encounter that many other individuals, it was like they were alone in a fairytale. And when they made it near the lake, they leaned on the railing and stared at the cold waters in front of them. Milo captured Damien in a tight embrace, and for a while, everything was perfect. Words weren't needed in that moment. They stayed still and silent, just being close to each other, their hearts beating as one. Then, suddenly, a snowfall began. As the delicate snowflakes dropped from the heavens, dancing in the air, it did add some more tenderness into that moment. Milo hold Damien even more tightly, partly because of love, partly because he was starting to feel cold and was afraid that his little one was freezing. That serene moment was broken when Milo sneezed. Loudly. “Sorry”, he apologized, sniffling a little bit. “It's getting cold, I guess.” “It's fine”, Damien reassured him. “The wind is getting pretty chilly.” “Should we move somewhere warm, what do you think?” Milo asked, petting the head of his boyfriend. “Well, that would be pleasant”, Damien admitted. “Hmm.” Milo was pondering for a minute. “How about we go back to your place and order a pizza or something and watch bad movies together?” “That's not very romantic”, Damien pointed out. “I don't know what couples do!” Milo exclaimed, releasing his boyfriend from his grasp. Damien giggled a little. “You know, like a said earlier, anything is good when it's with you”, he said, gently smiling. “We can totally do that thing you suggested.” “Let's go then!” Milo declared loudly, shaking his fist in the air enthusiastically. Through the snowy scenery they began to walk back to the direction where they had come from. Returning from the peace and silence of the park they got to the busy streets once again, joining in to the mass of folks that were living their own love stories. Milo and Damien backtracked to the coffeehouse, then heading to Damien's apartment from there. Just a little bit more walking and eventually they did make it to the building where he lived, and the warm air inside welcomed them. It felt good after being in cold outside world for so long. The duo began to climb the stairs up, getting to the third floor. Soon they reached it, Damien unlocked the door to his apartment, and they both entered his home. They took their jackets off and immediately after that, Milo conquered the couch, laying lazily on it. He let out a content sigh and turned the TV on. Damien joined him soon, and Milo wrapped his arm around him. Finally, they could just sit and chill. Milo and Damien just stayed like that for a moment, it felt so good to just relax for a little while after having such a long walk. It was so comforting to just lay like that together, so they didn't move even an inch for a good while. However, they hadn't eaten for a long time so eventually their bellies started to rumble, which was an indication that they should get some food. They had to break their pleasant position to order something to eat. Just like Milo had previously suggested, they decided to get a pizza. In the order went and then they waited. It didn't take long for their meal to arrive, and soon they were stuffing their mouths with that tasty, greasy food. By coincidence, there was a sappy romantic movie shown on TV at the moment, since it was Valentine's Day, so they watched it, pointing out stupid things about it as it progressed. But even bad sappy films are fun to watch in days like this. The whole pizza had been eaten, romantic movies were offering some entertainment, Milo and Damien had veiled themselves with a blanket. Together they laid under it, side by side, both of them fallen asleep, having sweet dreams. This had been a perfect day for them. This had been their own Valentine's Day. And surely, many more would come, for they were one. They were madly in love with each other. And that would never change.
