I would like to take a moment to talk about our lord and sa-...wait no that's not it.\n\nI wanted to talk about my headcanons for the different versions of Sonic.\n\nWhat all of them have in common are near endless amounts of sass and ego, and a constant urge to be free and run. (also chili dogs... they all love them) But in my little happy headcanon world they still have severe differences.\n\nScourge, being anti-sonic, is not actually the mirror opposite of Sonic. In fact I'd go as far as to say they are actually very similar. The only real difference between them is their different motivations, based upon their very different upbringing. So really the thing that makes Scourge anti, isn't his personality or genetics. It's the WORLD he grew up in that caused him to be like this. Robotnik being a good guy over on moebius, and Scourge's father being a neglectful prick he grew up to hate peace. So he became became destructive. But he has potential to be good just as much as Prime Sonic has potential to be 'evil'. \n\nZonic, again, is not fundamentally different than prime sonic. He's the same sonic with the same needs and wishes. He wants to be free, run, eat chili dogs, be lazy all day long, make some sassy remarks this is what Sonic is. But again the difference in him is his different upbringing. His environment. The world. This is a nose dive into headcanon land because there is no deeper canon backstory to Zonic. But in my, let's call it AU, his father was a police chief. Forcing his son to study, study, study to become a cop like him. The bar was so high that Zonic had no childhood. The moment he was capable of forming coherent thoughts he was being taught math and reading. There was no time to play and no one to play with. Running inside the house got him punished so he stopped. Zonic's environment forced him to give up what makes every sonic 'sonic'... his freedom. He wears restraining clothes and armour, he follows his superiors' rules and the no-zone's laws. When he gets home after a long day of work he relaxes by reading and falls asleep on his couch. He is no hero. Just a cop. A great cop. But nothing more. \n\nNow what happens if Scourge, who is possibly the most free of all the sonic versions, and Zonic who is the least free, meet. Zonic gets to witness a man who is wild. Who has fun. Who runs. Who breaks laws. Who is unstoppable. At first he hates it. It goes against everything he knows and believes in... but then... as time goes on something changes and he falls in love with the concept. He falls in love with everything Scourge is, because Scourge is everything Zonic wants to be. Everything he had to give up for his career. Suddenly these buried urges come back to Zonic. He wants to run. He wants to strip out of his uniform. He wants to do stupid things just for the sake of fun. He wants to start feeling alive. \n\nHe gets addicted to the way Scourge makes him feel. He can't seem to escape. And to make it worse, after being in a cage for so long... he is now completely desperate to break out. He's desperate to feel like himself for the first time in his life. He wants to lose control. All and every bit of control. And he surrenders it all to Scourge. Catering to Scourge's need for validation. Treating him like a king in return for this wild freedom he craves. He's greedy. Addicted.
