Despite having grown much more powerful since the night a band of goblins and an ambitious lone adventurer wandered into its grove, the entity that commanded the tentacles was very distrustful. While its harem was full of girls with impressive abilities in their own right, only a select few had proven their complete loyalty to it and thus were granted the honor of being allowed to leave the forest to bring more powerful females into their collective. In fact there were currently only three; the foolhardy rogue who started everything and the two magi whom she took as her surrogate "daughters". Of course, the girls couldn't be expected to venture forth in the nude, this would arouse unnecessary suspicion (among other things...); instead, the Entity bestowed upon them clothing and gear, forged from the girls' own memories and its mysterious power.
Kris is a very versatile adventurer, cunning and calculating. Her impressive skill set includes tracking, pick-pocketing and lock-picking, disguises, archery, unarmed combat, trap-setting, potion and poison-making just to name a few. On top of all this, the cat is very fleet of foot and agile. Her "armor" of choice reflects this. The dark color makes it useful for sneaking, and while it may outwardly look like a simple dress at a glance, in fact there is an inlay of leather plates underneath the linen exterior, providing adequate protection. The shape also shows a bit of personal flair, being shapely and attractive while also allowing full range of mobility. The belt can hook onto it all manner of tools and traps for any obstacle she may encounter and, along with her bow, makes her an incredibly effective hunter. Of course, her memory of the outfit is based on when she had more... womanly curves, but she has decided the slightly over-sized dress looks cute on her cub frame.
The un-identical twin magi Janice and Sara hail from a somewhat forgotten magic school that idolizes dragons and their ability to use magic without the need for a focus. To that end, members of the Vreka Dragon School wear a belt of jewels which they use rather than a wand or orb as their foci. While it doesn't actually bring them any closer to the dragons which they have chosen to emulate, it does allow for their students to make use of their hands for things other than spell-casting.
Like many schools, the Dragon School has a "journeyman" phase where, after advancing past their apprenticeship, students are sent into the world to hone their skill in real life situations. Janice and Sara are both journeyman mages, both specializing in different styles of magic. It is interesting to note that the two appearing to be cubs when Kris first found them was a glamour cast by Janice in order to get people to drop their guard around them; after all, two little girls couldn't possibly be dangerous magi right? Well, after their encounter with the Entity those appearances became permanent.
Sara, the more traditional and modest of the two, has chosen to keep her school's robes more or less intact. Shortening it to flow more like a dress and adding a shawl over the top gives the outfit on a whole a somewhat innocent appearance. This falls in line with her specialization in healing and protective magic. Despite not being a fighter like the others, the girl is just as dangerous when pushed to act.
Janice, on the other hand, has heavily modified her outfit, keeping little more than the school's colors. Instead of robes, she has chosen a vest with a cape and a dangerously short skirt. The outfit makes her look more like a lady of the night than a powerful mage, which is just the way she likes it. Her specialization in offensive magic and hexes (the latter prompting Kris to give her the nickname Jynx), along with her disarming charm makes her incredibly dangerous even on her own.
Altogether, the group is a force to be reckoned with, unassuming, charming, and surprisingly effective as a team. With such a team at its command, and with assurance of their absolute loyalty, the Entity felt no need to take a risk on letting any of the others go...
So, I feel a small explanation is in order here. See, once upon a time I played a game called Champions Online, a superhero MMORPG. I never did a whole lot in the game passed the leveling process, but I ended up sticking around for a long time simply for the fact that I was having too much fun with the customization options. Not wanting to let some of my favorite costumes simply go to waste, I decided to re-purpose them for another side project here.
I've been thinking about expanding this continuity beyond just the Tentacle Entity and its growing harem. Every time I touch this storyline, I have a blast writing it and its super vague D'n'D-esque world. And I'm sure there are a great deal of other conflicts going on in this world; just the conflict between the Entity and the church would be fun, nevermind other adventurers, men, other types of monsters... There's a wealth of possibility in these "young" huntress's stories.
