Tonight, everything has changed. Tonight, I have learned to fear Master... It started like any other day. My girls and I, Master’s huntresses, awoke along with the rest of Master’s servants to its unending embrace. Our numbers have grown significantly since we began our hunts in earnest. We want for nothing with Master; we don’t even need to eat or breathe while Master’s gifts course through our bodies. But of course the newer girls are reluctant to accept this so the three of us have taken it upon ourselves to help the others to adjust to their new lives. I come to take a great deal of pride and satisfaction in watching the new girls as they begin to understand and love Master the way we do. We were with one such girl when she came. Sonya, a paladin, a champion of the same order that once nearly killed Master. Even I had heard stories of the heroic woman, the “Lawbringer”, and her divine ability in the short times I’d spent out in the world. They say that the power that these holy warriors command is granted by their faith... whether it’s true or not I can’t say, but what I do know is that in all the time I’ve been a hunter, I’ve never felt so completely overmatched... The three of us felt her enter the grove at once (she must have followed us home after our last hunt) and moved to engage the intruder. There wasn’t much of a fight though; swords, arrows, and magic were all equally ineffective against her divine magic, and as strong as Sara’s defensive magic has become, it was only a matter of time before her magic was overtaxed. When she was subdued, there was little else Janice and I could do... I am certain that, had the woman not come with the misguided goal of “rescuing” us from Master, we would have all perished. Once we were incapacitated, Sonya issued her challenge to Master to come face her itself. Master has grown much more powerful than before, but even so it was not able to overcome the woman’s defenses. I shudder to think what could have happened had the battle been allowed to continue like this. Fortunately (and somewhat ironically), one of the other girls, the very ones that Sonya came to save, was her undoing; so focused on beating back Master’s tentacles, she never saw the girl coming until she grabbed the warrior around the legs from behind. With her concentration broken, she was quickly overcome by Master. ... What happened next was horrifying to behold. Once it had complete control over the paladin, Master immediately brought the special tentacles, intent on reducing her to a cub like the rest of us. Everything about this was different that before, felt so wrong; Master had never reduced one of its servants while she was awake before, and never before had it ignored the rest of its servants when indoctrinating a new girl... Yet there I stood, along with my daughters and the rest of Master’s servants, powerless to do anything but watch and wait for Master to call for us... I am suddenly very glad that I don’t remember anything from my transformation. The poor girl’s screams will haunt my dreams for ages, I’m sure... And even through it all Master continued to ruthlessly ravage her, malice clear in every movement. The way her body distorted with each thrust, it truly looked as though she would be ripped apart at any moment. I doubt that, had the girl not been a warrior in peak physical condition, she would have survived Master’s brutality... I’m ashamed to admit it, but this whole thing was monstrous. I’ve never thought of Master as a monster before, but then I’d never seen Master act with such cruelty. We were all reluctant at first, but Master has always shown us compassion and pleasures beyond imagining, and in the end we all made the choice to devote ourselves to it. But this... I’ve never felt such deep hatred. Even though she fought against us, she is still a servant of Master now, right...? And even if it just intended to remove her as a potential threat, none of us deserve that... That was hours ago now. Master has not touched any of us since getting its tentacles on the paladin. The others have taken to various corners of the grove, huddled together in small groups; they seem so confused and anxious to be sleeping without Master’s embrace... While I feel much the same, as Master’s First, I don’t have the luxury of giving in to such base emotions. The others all look to me for leadership; I have to be the one to act on our behalf. The paladin, once she’s seen the error of her ways, would be an invaluable member of our hunting party. I need to find a way to get Master to see this. Even now it is so consumed by vengeful rage as it continues to ruthlessly assault her; the poor girl’s screams have ceased only because she no longer has the strength to resist in any way... At this rate, she may not survive long enough to become one of us... I don’t know how, but I have to find some way to soothe it, for all of our sakes... - Kris\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
... A disturbing reminder that, no matter how benevolent their Master may seem to be from the eyes of its servants, it is still a monster... Hatred and revenge burn deep, and with its regenerative powers, this creature can cause indescribable torment. Let this stand as a warning to any clerics or holy warriors; your conversion will not be pleasant...
In any case, Master's servants continue to grow and eventually (hopefully) will include the powerful paladin as well. It is only a matter of time before its ultimate goal, whatever that is, is within reach. Until then the world's adventuring women beware the three Prowler cubs and the mystery of the ancient forests.
