"writing": "The remainder of the school year was spent over at Theo’s. His tutoring was very in depth and by the time she was required to take her test she was surprised by how easy it came to her. She passed with flying colors and by the time the next year would roll around, she would be a tad behind, but nothing too bad.\nAfter her first session, she and Theo were much more careful if they decided to “make love”. It wasn’t an everyday occurrence, and Theo maddeningly made her ask for it each time. But once the tutoring came to a stop, her sexuality once again had to take a back seat.\nNot that this wouldn’t have happened eventually anyways. The farther along she got the less she really wanted to have sex anyways. Mood swings started up to the point that even Pepper sort of avoided her. She was able to control herself more as time went on, but luckily it got better.\nThe summer she spent the majority of her time with Pepper’s family as usual. Sierra managed to snag both her and Pepper a few times as well for a couple of sleep overs. Mostly it seemed to check up on her pregnancy. Something she was annoyingly invested in.\nTheo was kept up to date on her progress which thankfully was coming along smoothly. Her doctors were always remarking how pleased they were to see how healthy the growing cub was. Their initial fears slowly were forgotten and all was going as perfectly to plan as a pregnancy could be. \nSoon after she started her tutoring, she had found out via ultrasound that they strongly thought she was due to give birth to a girl. She was slightly disappointed but was happy to just know. Theo however seemed very happy to learn they were having a girl. \nSierra too seemed very happy for her (for whatever reason) and begged for a picture of the ultrasound. This was actually very fortunate because it gave her the opportunity to take one over without much suspicion. One for Sierra, and one to “show” Theo.\nAll during this time she was visiting Alex regularly as well. After their initial “break-thru”. Thing’s had stagnated in regards to her past. Kody felt more comfortable sharing with Alex, but not her mother. Mainly in regards to what was going to happen after she’s given birth.\nThe school year had just started again and Kody was about a month removed from giving birth. Her belly was huge and she was getting more and more agitated again. She was sleeping all the time pretty much now. Her mother had asked about it to the doctors but they said it was to be expected. It was taking a toll on her younger body after all.\nKody was starting to dread going to visit Alex again, but mainly due to how much if was a pain now. Her back hurt, her feet were sore, and she was on her last get from asking her mom for adult diapers to avoid her millions of trips to the bathroom!\nAlex was waiting for her in her office and greets her as she walks in heavily. She sighs as she sits down, wishing for this pregnancy to be over with.\n“Getting pretty far along, aren’t you?” Alex asks sympathetically.\n“NEVER have kids.” Kody moans seriously. Earning a laugh from Alex.\n“Way ahead of you sister.” She giggles. “I’m really sorry hun. But, its what, 3 to 4 weeks away?”\n“Easy for you to say.” Kody moans. \n“Have you picked out a name or anything?” Alex asks.\nThey normally discussed it as she had pointed out that she wanted to discuss what was currently bothering her a lot. The pregnancy was going well, even if she was being worn out by it. But it was still something she couldn’t help but have deep feelings of worry in regards to.\n“Is there anything in particular about your pregnancy you are worried about right now?” Alex asks after the baby names were discussed.\n“Well… not the birthing or pregnancy per say…” Kody says after a moment of silence.\n“What do you mean?” Alex asks.\n“Well… I’m just worried about what will happen after I give birth… I’m less worried about the birthing process. What has me the most worried if I will be able to keep her or not…” Kody admits, not looking up at Alex and instead rubbing her belly.\n“Oh. Well, have you discussed this with your mother yet?” Alex asks.\n“No… I don’t really have to. The baby will be due soon. But she has not made any efforts to buy a crib, car seat… anything that would indicate I would be returning from the hospital with my cub.” Kody says slowly.\n“Kody… are you able to get a job?” Alex asks suddenly.\n“What? What does that have anything to do with this?” Kody asks, confused an annoyed by the seemingly random question.\n“I’d like for you to think about everything you just said.” Alex replies simply.\n“That mom has not bought anything for my baby?” Kody guesses.\n“Right. SHE has not bought anything for YOUR baby. Do you think its right for you to expect your mother to cover all of your child’s expenses?” Alex asks.\n“I-It won’t be forever!” Kody snaps. “Just until I am old enough to have my own job!” Kody points out defensively.\n“Right. You turn 15 this year, right?” Alex asks before going on without waiting for an answer. “So, you would make what. Minimum wage? Minors can’t work more that about 25 hours a week either. Not to mention most won’t let you be hired until you are 16 around here. So, you are expecting your mother to pay everything for your child for the first 2 years of her life. Then afterwards you are expecting to be able to buy everything for your own cub on 100 hours a week at minimum wage?”\nAs Alex rattled this all off, she would glance over at Kody. Her cheeks slowly reddened more and more as she listed everything off. She had in the back of her mind known that she probably would not be able to care for her cub herself. Not for a long while. But to be shut down and forced to see that so bluntly was more than she could take.\n“IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH WANTING TO TAKE CARE OF MY OWN!?” Kody snarls angerly.\nAlex gave her a sad look which only pissed her off more. \n“Sweetie… I understand that you want to do right for your girl. I get that you don’t want to give her up so soon after bringing her into this world. It hurts me and your mother to see that you have to deal with something like this so soon. But when it comes to dealing with children… you have to decide if keeping them is the right thing.” \nAlex’s words were soft, and her eyes betrayed an immense sadness. But Kody didn’t want her pity. She wanted to keep her cub. It felt so wrong to just abandon her to a total stranger! Why COULDN’T her mother take care of her daughter until she could finally take over? She could even pay her back eventually!\n“Wh-why can’t my mother just help me out until then?” Kody finally asks, fighting back the tears she hated.\n“Oh Kody… I really wish you would ask your mother these things first… ACTUALLY I wished your MOTHER would sit YOU down first!” Alex corrects herself. “As a matter of fact, SHE needs to explain this to you herself.”\nWith that Alex stands up and asks for Kody to remain there. She walks out of the office then brings her mother in. Her mother is looking uncomfortable. Clearly either not expecting to be the barer of this news, or having to explain it so soon. Or at ALL for that matter.\nAlex marches over to another seat and pull it over so that the three of them form a circle. Her mother sits down, looking like she didn’t want to be there and Alex sat down as well looking grim and resolute.\n“OK! The happy little family is together again!” Alex exclaims rather sarcastically. \nI wonder if she is like this with ALL of her customers. Kody thought irritably. Probably not though, it was likely due to her close proximity to her mother that gave her the ability to be less than professional.\n“Kassandra. I think it is high time that you sit in on our meetings. Wait!” Alex begins before cutting off a complaint from Kody. “You really need to be a bit more interested in your daughters’ problems. I am completely disgusted in how hands off you are about this. Kody, yes. I know you don’t always want her to be in on out talks. But she is your MOTHER and she NEEDS to hear and listen to your concerns!”\n“I’ve tried giving you two the space to finally come together on your own. Giving both of you tips and pointers on how to broach touchy subjects! I was hoping that you would come together but it seems that you two are just TOO stubborn for your own good!”\nAlex was now visibly annoyed. As she spoke, she kept them both under her icy gaze. Neither she, nor her mother replied as Alex continued to berate them both.\n“Kody! You are FOURTEEN! There is NOTHING wrong with going to your mother for help! You are STILL a child! You DON’T need to be as independent as you seem to think you need to be!” Alex says forcefully staring at Kody before turning to her mother.\n“Kassandra, YOU ARE AN ADULT! ACT LIKE ONE! I am sick and tired of hearing that you are; “Giving Kody her space.” SHE’S A CHILD! WOMAN UP AND INVADE IT! You complain that you don’t feel like she respects you as a mother. THIS is why! You ALLOW her to be so independent! Its no wonder she got pregnant!”\nThis was going a bit too far and her mother seemed to think so too. She instantly snapped out of acting like a kid being caught in the wrong to being an adult unjustly accused of something. Sher reared up and Kody could tell her hackles were raised.\n“How dare you! Its MY fault that this happened? I might work a lot but I ALWAYS make sure she was taken care of! She spends time with Pepper, your niece most of the time! If I had a long shift, I asked them to care for her! I might have left her alone at night from time to time but I never imagined she would do something like this!” Her mother spits angerly making her feel bad.\n“And how would you know that?” Alex challenges. “Tell me this Kassandra: Why did you allow your daughter to remain at home unsupervised? Was it because Lilian was too busy to take Kody? Were they out of town and you have no other options? Did you ever think to call me perhaps? Or was it your PRIDE that made you conceal that you were in trouble? You failed your daughter Kassandra. You failed her as a mother and her guardian!”\nAs Alex countered her mother, Kody felt smaller and smaller. She felt like she didn’t belong in the room for this conversation. Guilt chewed at her belly as she began feeling very sorry for her mother. Alex was being entirely too unfair! Even when she was with Pepper she still got into trouble!\n“I-its NOT my mother fault!” Kody suddenly yells at Alex, unable to hold herself back any longer. “I-I still have access to the internet at Pepper’s place! I still could have gotten into the wrong crowd! I-I even drag Pepper into things sometimes!” She sobs.\n“Maybe, but it would a MILLION times harder to sneak out of the house with her parents around, wouldn’t it?” Alex points out as she keeps her eyes squarely on her mother. “You’d be far less likely to abandon Pepper.\nGuilt kept gnawing at her. Her becoming pregnant might have been a product of her being alone and allowed to go somewhere on her own. But Theo was a caregiver. Even in someone else’s care she could still have gotten pregnant. She still had managed to get most of his nut into her before Sierra started yowling for them. She wanted to come to her mother’s defense, but to prove it was more her fault than her mothers she’d need to betray her cub’s father.\n“The fact is that your mother is as bone headed and stubborn as you are Kody. She is just as afraid to call out for help as you. She’d rather drown in her own problems than to admit she needs help. But she is hurting you in the process which is why I just can’t sit idly by any more.” She maintained eye contact with her mother this whole time who as glaring back at her defiantly but silently, eyes glistening.\n“Yes. You hold some of the blame. But your mother, as your guardian is ultimately responsible for you and your actions. She has ALSO been holding back some information from you.” Alex says, shifting her gaze to Kody before snapping back to her mother. “Kody has been worried sick about what her future is with her baby. She has already pieced together certain things. But without confirmation she has been unable to anything else but worry. I told you the last time we spoke you need to discuss this with your daughter. Since you won’t on your own, I have to do this instead. “ \n“These sessions are as much for her as they are for YOU. If you don’t discuss anything with your daughter, how is she to understand why you do what you do? Kody, if you don’t tell your mother what is bugging you how can she understand why YOU do what you do? I can’t help you two if you are unwilling to help yourselves! If we can’t come together, these sessions are a COMPLETE waste of time! And I SWEAR that I’ll stop these sessions if nothing changes!”\nWith her final volley at them both she sits back and crosses her arms glaring at them both. Kody and her mother remain silent, Kody stares at the floor unable to meet her gaze. Out of the corner of her eye it looks like her mother can’t keep eye contact with the angry snow leopard either. After a pause that seemed to last forever her mother suddenly takes a deep breath and sighs. \n“Kody…” Her mother begins, placing her paw on her shoulder. “She’s right, we do need to discuss the future of your cub. I’ve been afraid to discuss this with you because I didn’t know how to bring it up to you. But you deserve to know.”\n“Mom?” Kody asks, her heart dropping.\n“I’ve been going over expenses. Looking at child care costs. The cost of baby formula. Everything. We live within our means now but, adding another mouth to feed just isn’t financially feasible. Even if you were to get a job you just wouldn’t earn enough money to make the difference. Not to mention it will be over a year before you could start a job. I know you really want to keep her. But we just can’t.”\nHer mother spoke as soothingly and calmly as she could but it wasn’t enough. She had been afraid that this would be her answer for months. But it was still crushing to finally hear it said out loud. She didn’t want to believe it, but given her mothers look there could be no doubt that this was the plan that she had already came to.\nUnable to reply Kody begins crying. The millions of arguments she could try to come up with just wouldn’t come. She wanted to deny that this was the end but just couldn’t do it. She knew her mom was right and that just made it really difficult.\nShe felt someone hug her and she just clung to them and just all of her pent-up negative feelings go. She hated how week this made her seem, but again she just couldn’t fight it. She halfway expected it to be Alex but the scent told her it was her mother, which made her feel very comfortable.\nAfter some time, she is able to calm herself down. She sniffs as her mother stays near stroking her ears. She was still upset about being told her mother felt it was beyond their means to keep her unborn cub. But held onto some sort of hope. \nAfter a moment her mother gives Alex another glare. Kody wondered if she was about to go onto the offense again but doesn’t. Instead, she speaks firmly with an obvious attempt to keep from shouting.\n“There are appropriate times to discuss certain things with specific furs around Alex. You are right that she and I need to have a heart to heart. But since she is pregnant its not really the time to be delving too deeply into those issues. We can have those discussions, but Id rather we wait until AFTER.”\n“Fair enough. I didn’t mean to cause such a scene. We should continue to discuss her future then. From now on though I’d like you present in our meetings.” Alex responds coolly.\nThe rest of the meeting luckily was less taxing. Alex refrained from challenging her mother so directly. But she did do her best to keep both her AND her mother from shying away from each other. “You two need to stop acting like strangers!” Was a favorite line of hers.\nOnce they were finally done her mother and Alex asked her to go to the front office alone. Kody wasted no time to leave as she could feel the tension mounting between the women throughout the meeting. Her mother and Alex remained for another thirty minutes before they finally emerged. Both of them looked annoyed but parted ways cordially enough.\nOn the way home her mother gave her an unexpected piece of news.\n“I still can’t take off work. I want to be there for you but I also need to pay our bills. So, starting this week Theo will be your tutor again.” She explains. “I’ll take my leave the week before the doctors say you are due. We also need to start talking to the hospital about adoptions.”\n“D-do we have to?” Kody asks, a desperate edge to her voice.\n“I’m sorry Kody. But we just can’t. I don’t want to take her away from you. But we have to do what’s best. You can have a huge say in who takes her. Or you can leave it up them. I will be with you but let you ultimately choose who take her… withing reason.” Her mother says sympathetically. \nThe following doctor’s appointment was a sad one for her. Kody tried to put it off but her mother ended up asking for her in the end. The social working was a very kind bunny woman. Kody knew she was trying to help, but couldn’t help but be sort of hostile towards her. To the workers credit she took it all easily. Seemingly having expected it.\nShe found out a lot about the adoption system though and was happy to hear that she could have a say who she gave the baby to. She could even have certain stipulations of she wished. As long as they were reasonable that is. \nThis meeting also marked the first time they discussed her options for birthing. The doctors were blunt and said a C section was honestly the best route. Her age and size pretty much dictated that being a necessity. She had been worried that would be the case, but was grateful that she had finally knew for sure.\nThe following day she found herself walking laboriously up to Theo’s front door. Her mother by her side. She hated walking now. Her back ached all the time from the huge bulge in her belly. The door opened and Theo ushered them inside. \n“Thank you, Theo, for your help. I don’t know what we would do without you.” Her mother thanks him. \nKody blushes and looks away wondering what she would be saying if she realized he was the father of the cub growing in her belly. The adult cougar brushes it off saying it was nothing.\n“Kody is a pleasure to teach, and Sierra is always happy to be around her.” He replies amiably. \n“Well please let me know if anything comes up with her. I’ll be sure to get off on time tonight. Thank you so much again!” Giving Kody a hug she goes back to her car and drives off leaving her alone with Theo.\n“I have to make sure Sierra is ready for her other classes today. Feel free to go to the study. I’ll be along shortly.” He smiles to Kody. \nShe blushes a bit and nods. She makes her way to the study but before she manages to sit down, she hears a flurry of paw steps and is suddenly hugged from behind eliciting a squeak of surprise from her. The hug wasn’t tight, but it was sudden.\n“Kody its so good to see you! I have great news! Daddy and I are expecting a cub now too!” Comes the excited meow of Sierra.\nKody freezes and turns around to face Sierra in shock. Sierra proudly lifts up her shirt and exposes a slightly rounding belly. She knew Sierra enough to know she wouldn’t lie to her, even to get one up on her. She looks up to see Theo looking a bit miffed and worried. Their eyes meet and he looks away before shooing Sierra away.\nBut she lets herself get shooed she tells Kody they really needed to do another sleep over soon. Theo for his part seemed more than anything to want to separate the two. Once he manages Kody stands there still staring, after a few more seconds she is reminded, she needs to sit by her back and ankles aching. \nWell. I guess she finally got what she wanted. She had been making it plain that she and him were having sex regularly. Good for them. She thinks to herself, fighting a strange feeling in her belly.\nKody sits in the chair listening to Theo and Sierra. Theo keeps reminding her that her tutor would arrive soon and Sierra paid little heed until the doorbell rang. A flurry of activity is heard and the door opens followed by goodbyes and the door closing. The house remained silent and soon Theo was walking into the room.\n“Sorry about that Dakota.” Theo apologizes.\n“Its ok. Now that she is pregnant, I’m sure she is much needier now anyways.” Kody replies coolly, shocking even herself.\nTheo too seemed a bit taken aback. \n“Well, not entirely. No.” He replies slowly. “Is everything alright?” He asks peering at her closely.\n“I’m fine.” Kody replies a bit too forcefully, her cheeks dark with embarrassment. \n“Dakota. Is Sierra’s pregnancy bothering you?” He asks bluntly.\nKody is about to reply that she wasn’t but she just can’t bring herself to say it. She knew full well that deep down she was annoyed. But, was it really jealousy? \n“Its just… I don’t know! I just felt a tightening feeling in my stomach when she told me. I-I’ve known you two were being intimate. I just… I dunno…” She finishes lamely. \n“Does me not being exclusive bother?” He asks, sitting down.\n“I know I can’t ask for that. I only did what I did because I was horny and…. Found you attractive… I guess I just got used to you being the father of my cub that… it just shocked me when I learned she was pregnant by you now too.” Kody says with a deep sigh.\n“So, you ARE jealous.” He smirks.\n“UGH! FINE! Yes, I’m jealous!” Kody says rolling her eyes.\nHe gives her a tight hug causing a blush for form on her cheeks before he continues.\n“You will always have a special place for me.” He says.\nThis REALLY makes her blush and she wiggles out of the hug suddenly very interested in that day’s lesson. Theo laughs knowingly and let’s be to start teaching. Kody keeps her eyes averted for that morning lecture, slowly gaining the confidence to look him in the eye again.\nThe rest of the day’s lesson went on without a hitch. Save for the many bathroom breaks she now seemed to have to take that is. They found a natural stopping point and retire to the living room to wait until Kodys mom comes to pick her up. As they sat Theo brought up the subject she had been unwilling to really talk about.\n“So. You had your meeting with your doctor yesterday, right?” He asks.\n“Yes…” She replies slowly.\n“What happened?” He asks directly. \n“Why does nobody want to let me do things at my own pace?” She grumbles.\n“Because you don’t say anything otherwise.” Theo replies.\n“HUFF. FINE!” She says rolling her eyes, knowing he wouldn’t let it go. “Well, the doctors have suggested a C section would be the safest route for me when I give birth.”\n“That is what you were expecting from the start, right?” He asks.\n“Yeah. I was. But I was hoping not to. Natural birthing just seems a better option.” She muses.\n“Invasive surgeries would never be suggested unless it was thought absolutely necessary.” Theo points out.\n“I know. I guess I just feel less accomplished this way.” \n“I think you are well above the curve.” Theo chuckles.\n“MEH. You have a point.” She huffs.\n“Any news on what will happen to her?” Theo asks pointedly.\nHere she stops eating and stares at her food. She had been trying to not think about what she had learned in regards to that. She also dreaded telling him a total stranger was going to be taking their cub away soon after child birth. She just hoped he would take it well.\n“Yes. I have news. But its not good news. My mother has made it clear that I won’t be able to keep her. She doesn’t think that we could afford to feed another mouth.” Kody tells him sadly.\n“You mean SHE can’t feed him.” Theo corrects her, seemingly not reacting at all to this news.\n“Y-yeah… Th-the doctors tell me that I will have a huge say in who can take her though…” She continues, shocked by his seeming indifference.\n“Well good. Glad your mother isn’t trying to snatch her away from you the moment she’s born.” Theo nods.\n“…doesn’t this bother you… at all?” Kody asks after a moment. Staring at Theo. \n“Of course, it does. I was hoping that it wouldn’t come to this. But your mother makes a good point. I can’t very welly just tell your mother to let me take her, can I?” Theo asks heavily.\nKody sighs and nods. She was searching for something to say before the door suddenly opens and Sierra walks in calling for Theo. They exchange a wry look before Sierra comes in and finds that Kody is still there. \nExcited she gets to spend time with her fellow “sister in labor” she asks if Kody wants to see the perspective baby’s room. Intrigued, Kody follows Sierra to a room between hers and Theo’s. Opening the door Kody feels a twinge of jealous and envy.\nThe room is already perfectly set up for an infant cub. A lovely crib complete with mobile is on the far end. A changing table was near it already stocked with diapers, a diaper bag and wipes. One side of the room had a collection of toys, stroller, and care seat.\nThe room itself was painted a yellowish color as were the crips sheets. Kody noticed how most of it looked as though it would be long to a girl and wondered if Sierra had already decided she was having one herself. Once Sierra opened the wardrobe, she found it filled with girl’s clothes.\n“I uh… see you are expecting a girl.” Kody comments, wondering how on earth she would know that so soon. \n“Mhm! As a mother you just know these things, she replies with a sly wink.\nKody merely grins sheepishly. She was about to point out that she MIGHT have a boy before the doorbell rings. The girls stop and listen and she hears her mother call out to her. Sierra expresses a little irritation that her show-and-tell was cut short but says her goodbyes and Kody heads downstairs to leave.\nThe rest of the month passed very quickly and Kody began feeling more and more anxious about the due date. The doctors had given her an approximate date they felt she may go into labor but reminded her it may be sooner or later. So, it was a bit of a shock when suddenly her water broke roughly 10 days before the expected date and she goes into labor.\nKody would recall years later how happy she was to have a nurse for a mother. When Kody called for her, she was to her room in a flash. Her fur was on end but she calmly collected Kody and drove straight to the hospital. On the drive she called her friends ahead of them and she was met at the hospital by one of her friends and a wheelchair.\nThe rest of the day was a blur. As soon as she arrived in her room she was instantly prepped for surgery and wheeled away. She remembered looking at her mother, scared and in pain. Her mother’s face was creased with worry and her fur was still on end. She gave her a weak smile before the doors shut and they couldn’t see each other anymore. \nAfter being settled onto a table a doctor placed a mask over her muzzle and calmly asked her to breath normally. She did, wondering when she would be knocked out. The next thing she knew her whole body was heavy as lead. Her head was super fuzzy and she couldn’t remember what she was doing or where she had been.\nSlowly she opens her eyes to look around and to her shock and horror she realizes she is in a hospital bed. Her going into labor suddenly comes crashing back to her as well as the fact that the last moment she could recall was going into surgery. \nShe struggles to sit up when a sudden pressure is felt. She looks up and finds herself eye to eye with her mother. Her face expressed such relief that her own worry seemed to evaporate. She sunk back down as her mother stroked her hair soothingly.\n“The surgery was a success sweetie. Your little girl is with the doctors for initial check-ups. You need to sleep though, when you wake up you can see her. Sleep for now.” Her mother says soothingly, knowing exactly what Kody had been thinking of.\nKody didn’t really want to, but what little energy she had left was drained by simply trying to sit up. Her eyes close and she sinks back into darkness. She again had no dreams and it felt like she had simply blinked when she opens her eyes again.\nThe hospital room had no windows so she had no way of knowing how much time had passed. Looking blearily around the room she notices that her mother isn’t in the room. Her belly felt lighter than it had in ages but also hurt. Remembering the description, she lifts up the covers and her gown to try to look at where they had operated.\nShe blanches at the sight but can’t help but not look. It wasn’t pretty, but not ugly either. Her lower belly fur had been shaved away and a clean incision had been made up her belly. It was gross, but morbidly interesting too. The noise of her door opening makes her drop her shirt and look up.\nHer mother is walking in with some snacks and immediately notices that she was sitting up. Kody glances away guiltily for some reason but her mother doesn’t seem to notice or care.\n“Oh good! You are properly awake!” She says crossing the room and setting down her food. “You feeling ok? Any pain?” She asks, going into nurse mode.\n“Nothing too bad.” She replies.\n“Good, good. Wait here and I’ll fetch the doctor.” She replies relieved and walks away again. \n“W-when can I see my cub!?” She asks as her mother pokes her head out and waves someone down. \n“Just as soon as the doctor checks you out.” Her mother chides. \nA nurse shows up and the two have a quick discussion. The feline walks away and her mother walks back over to where Kody was. Kody felt annoyed and anxious about this. When was she going to see her cub!?\n“Good afternoon sleepy head!” The cheerful voice of her doctor says as he walks in. He picks up her charges and observes her vitals while asking questions.\nKody did her best to answer and not show an attitude, but the longer this took the more anxious she became. Just as she reached her limit the door opens up and in walks the same nurse with a bundle in her arms.\n“We are happy to inform the mother that she gave birth to a frankly gorgeous little girl.” The doctor says with a smile noting Kody’s intent look towards the nurse.\nHe steps aside as the nurse approaches and gently hands the little bundle into her arms. Kody does her best to not just snatch her away and allows the nurse to set her gently down. The blanket was heavy surprisingly a bit heavy and very warm. The swaddle around her tiny kitten’s face obscured her view a bit and when she pushed them aside, she was shocked at what she saw.\nHer daughter frankly looked nothing like her. The face that peered out at her was a dark, slivery shade. The tell-tale black stripes bracketing and other facial colors were the only clues to her cougar heritage. Holding the little bundle, she looks up at the doctor with surprise.\n“She’s yours, trust me. I was the one who removed her.” He chuckles. “I can tell you that it came as a total surprise to me too! I’ve delivered lots of babies, but this is a first!”\n“I-is it albinism?” Kody asks, slightly worried.\n“I don’t think so. She would be perfectly white for one. We did a whole batch of tests and found no problems. So, she is perfectly healthy like her mother.” The doctor responds.\n“Anyways, we are going to keep you in the hospital for the rest of the week for observations. Your baby is fine, but you had surgery so we need to be sure you don’t get an infection or anything.” With that he left Kody and her mother alone with the baby. \n“May I?” Her mother asks after a moment. Kody grudgingly hand her mother her baby and she lifts her up and gently rocks the infant.\n“I was totally surprised when I saw her. She really is beautiful.” Her mother says sadly. Kody felt herself puff up a bit but her mother doesn’t go on. After a few more moments of admiring her, she hands her back over to Kody.\nTo her relief her mother never brought up adoption for the entire week. Each day she had furs come over to visit. Pepper and her family made it a point to visit her once a day.\nThe one thing every fur always commented on was her color. Kody had felt proud about the unique color at first. But got tired of everyone continuing to talk about it. Yes, it was unique, but they didn’t need to gossip so much about it!\nKody made sure to spend as much as time possible with her girl who she named “Savannah” after her grandmother. Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, change her diaper. She did everything she could when she could. \nEvery night was the worst though, when they came to take her back to the nursery. She did her best to stall the nurses, who thankfully never pushed the issue. Her mother too seemed really torn about the whole ordeal which led to her hoping against hope she had changed her mind.\nThe day of her assessment got closer and closer. Her anxiety rose each day as she thought about the fact that, on that day. She may never see her cub again. She became increasingly selfish during the time and again, the nurse and her mother let her. She was both angry and happy they let her act that way, she just wished she could do more.\nThe day finally arrived and to her immense sadness she was told they would be releasing her later that day. Her mother had left right after the meeting leaving her with baby Savanna. Some time later she hears the door open and looks up to see to her horror, her mother and the case worker.\nShe instinctively pulls the bundle closer as if to protect her from harm. Both women give her a sad look before sitting down.\n“Kody. I know how you must feel. And I assure you no one WANTS to take Savannah away from you. But its already been decided and her new parent is down in the lobby.” The case worker says softly.\nKody heard, but she wasn’t looking or frankly listening. Tears streamed down her face as she refused to acknowledge what had been said. She knew what “needed” to be done, but she felt that actually doing it would harm her more than she could put into words.\n“Kody, please don’t make this harder than it has to be.” She hears her mothers chocked up voice. She looks up and sees that her mother is crying too. “I never thought about how it would feel to be a grandmother, and it doesn’t compare to your own grief. But I am here with you, I don’t WANT to, do this. But we have no choice.”\nShe lowers her ears and eyes and her mother wraps her arms around her. She can’t hold it back and breaks down crying. As she sobbed, she barely hears a knock on the door. She can barely register the case workers voice after the door opens telling whomever that it was a REALLY bad time to be disturbing them, and that she needed more time.\nShe realized with a jolt that it must be whomever was there for Savannah. She moves around to try to see who this asshole was that was taking her baby away. She didn’t care that it was voluntary, she still felt an instant rush of dislike for whoever this was.\nStruggling to get a clear look she moves her head and freezes. To her utter shock she sees the last fur she would have ever thought to see standing at her hospital door. There at the door was Theo, looking rather sheepish as he is admonished for not waiting for her to call him.\nHer mother notices her suddenly going rigid. Turning to look at who was at the door she freezes the same way. Theo too, looks up and his eyes go wide in apparent shock as he finds himself looking at the last family he’d expect too. You could have cut the tension with a knife as all parties sat and stared.\n“Uh, do you three know each other?” The case workers bemused voice rings out, breaking the spell.\n“H-He was my daughters tutor after she became pregnant. A-and she is friends with his daughter, Sierra.” Her mother stammers out, still in shock.\n“Oh.. wow, small world?” The case worker says in a false happy tone.\n“Wh-when were you deciding to adopt another girl?” Kody finds herself asking.\n“Well… It was before you became pregnant honestly. Sierra really wanted a little sister and so yours just sort of fit the bill. All I knew was it was a cougar cub…” He replies a bit awkwardly.\nHer mother though was beginning to look at him highly suspiciously. She glances at the case worker who supplies.\n“Yes, Mr. Puma here put his application back in December of last year. He had to pass a load of tests and we observed his home life as well.” \nTo Kody it almost sounded like she was defending HERSELF more than him. Kody’s mother, who had gone rather ridged relaxed upon hearing this. She could sense there was still slight doubt, but why would a Social Worker risk her job like this?\nKody however was still very much suspicious. But she held it in as her mother and the social worker grilled him a bit. Theo answered everything coolly and apparently to both women’s satisfaction. They both turned and looked to Kody and asked her simply this.\n“Do you approve?”\nRealization slowly dawned on her. He wouldn’t be unlikely to leave with Savannah. He was very likely to stay local, and if he was, she could still be a major part of her growing up! \nShe didn’t need to be asked again, she nodded without a single doubt in her mind. She might not have her daughter 24/7, but she could STILL be a part of her life. And that’s ALL that mattered.\n\nEpilogue\n\nKody sat on the couch trying her best to stay calm as Sierra pestered her with questions. Savannah lay in her arms, nursing on her chest. Kody was trapped!\nIt had been a couple of months since she had signed documents giving parental rights over to Theo. During that time, she had to spend a bit more time in the hospital then at home for her to fully recover from surgery. She did her best to convince her mother to let her to visit but her mother had had her wait.\nHer mother was worried about Theo still, but was more worried about how Kody might react to going over to see Savannah. To her immense displeasure she made her wait until they could discuss it with Alex.\nThe meeting was a mixed bag. Alex seemed to share her misgivings for Theo but more so over her mental health regarding seeing Savannah. Kody however was hearing none of it and forced a compromise. She would be allowed supervised visitation until Alex did some digging. It wasn’t ideal, but she had to take what she could. \nThese visitations were staged weeks apart and the time just never seemed to pass fast enough for her. Kody worried slightly about Theo but after a month Alex was forced to give an all clear on Theo to her and her mother. She gave Alex a hard look but she did her best to ignore it.\nToday was FINALLY the first time she could spend time WITHOUT her mother supervising her. She hated how she always felt watched and tonight was supposed to be the first time she could legit relax! She just forgot one thing; an excitable and pregnant cougar.\nShe was about to snap at Sierra when Theo came her rescue.\n“Sierra! Quit pestering her! Give the poor girl some room!” He chided.\n“Oops, sorry!” Sierra blushed. She beat a hasty retreat leaving them alone for the first time in months.\n“I never got to say, but Savannah is a gorgeous name.” Theo says watching them.\n“Mhm, gorgeous name for a gorgeous girl.” Kody purrs.\n“I’m happy you will be able to spend time with her. I was worried you’d be barred.” Theo admits, sitting next to her.\n“Mom is still trying to limit my interactions. But she can kiss my ass.” Kody scoffs.\n“You should be more respectful about your mother.” Theo points out mildly.\n“Maybe… Be honest with me.” Kody says suddenly, turning to look him in the eye. “The room that was set up months in advanced was always meant for her, wasn’t it?”\nThe reddens a bit and looks away. Kody rolls her eyes and punches his arm. \n“That was a rotten trick you played on me. And I still have no clue how you managed to trick that poor social worker.” Kody chuckles.\n“Heh. I got to keep some secrets. And I’m sorry. If I told you, when I came to pick Savannah up it wouldn’t have felt right. It was best to make sure your reaction was genuine.” Theo apologized.\n“Well. Thank you. Seriously.” She says, purring deeply as she looks down to their bundle of joy.\n",
"writing_bbcode_parsed": "<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>The remainder of the school year was spent over at Theo&rsquo;s.&nbsp;&nbsp; His tutoring was very in depth and by the time she was required to take her test she was surprised by how easy it came to her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She passed with flying colors and by the time the next year would roll around, she would be a tad behind, but nothing too bad.<br />After her first session, she and Theo were much more careful if they decided to &ldquo;make love&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp; It wasn&rsquo;t an everyday occurrence, and Theo maddeningly made her ask for it each time.&nbsp;&nbsp; But once the tutoring came to a stop, her sexuality once again had to take a back seat.<br />Not that this wouldn&rsquo;t have happened eventually anyways.&nbsp;&nbsp; The farther along she got the less she really wanted to have sex anyways.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mood swings started up to the point that even Pepper sort of avoided her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was able to control herself more as time went on, but luckily it got better.<br />The summer she spent the majority of her time with Pepper&rsquo;s family as usual.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sierra managed to snag both her and Pepper a few times as well for a couple of sleep overs.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mostly it seemed to check up on her pregnancy.&nbsp;&nbsp;Something she was annoyingly invested in.<br />Theo was kept up to date on her progress which thankfully was coming along smoothly.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her doctors were always remarking how pleased they were to see how healthy the growing cub was.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their initial fears slowly were forgotten and all was going as perfectly to plan as a pregnancy could be.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Soon after she started her tutoring, she had found out via ultrasound that they strongly thought she was due to give birth to a girl.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was slightly disappointed but was happy to just know.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo however seemed very happy to learn they were having a girl.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Sierra too seemed very happy for her (for whatever reason) and begged for a picture of the ultrasound.&nbsp;&nbsp; This was actually very fortunate because it gave her the opportunity to take one over without much suspicion.&nbsp;&nbsp; One for Sierra, and one to &ldquo;show&rdquo; Theo.<br />All during this time she was visiting Alex regularly as well.&nbsp;&nbsp; After their initial &ldquo;break-thru&rdquo;.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thing&rsquo;s had stagnated in regards to her past.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody felt more comfortable sharing with Alex, but not her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mainly in regards to what was going to happen after she&rsquo;s given birth.<br />The school year had just started again and Kody was about a month removed from giving birth.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her belly was huge and you picked out a name or anything?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex asks.<br />They normally discussed it as she had pointed out that she wanted to discuss what was currently bothering her a lot.&nbsp;&nbsp; The pregnancy was going well, even if she was being worn out by it.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; But it was still something she couldn&rsquo;t help but have deep feelings of worry in regards to.<br />&ldquo;Is there anything in particular about your pregnancy you are worried about right now?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex asks after the baby names were discussed.<br />&ldquo;Well&hellip; not the birthing or will happen after I give birth&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;m less worried about the birthing process.&nbsp;&nbsp; What has me the most worried if I will be able to keep her or not&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody admits, not looking up at Alex and instead rubbing her belly.<br />&ldquo;Oh.&nbsp;&nbsp;Well, have you discussed this with your mother yet?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex asks.<br />&ldquo;No&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;I don&rsquo;t really have to.&nbsp;&nbsp; The baby will be due soon.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she has not made any efforts to buy a crib, car seat&hellip; anything that about everything you just said.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex replies simply.<br />&ldquo;That mom has not bought anything for my baby?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody guesses.<br />&ldquo;Right.&nbsp;&nbsp;SHE has not bought anything for YOUR baby.&nbsp;&nbsp;Do you think its right for you to expect your mother to cover all of your child&rsquo;s expenses?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex asks.<br />&ldquo;I-It won&rsquo;t be forever!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody snaps.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Just until I am old enough to have my own job!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody points out defensively.<br />&ldquo;Right.&nbsp;&nbsp;You turn 15 this year, right?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex asks before going on without waiting for an answer.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; So, you would make what.&nbsp;&nbsp;Minimum wage?&nbsp;&nbsp;Minors can&rsquo;t work more that about 25 hours a week either.&nbsp;&nbsp; Not to mention most won&rsquo;t let you be hired until you are 16 around here.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, you are expecting your mother to pay everything for your child for the first 2 years of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp; Then afterwards you are expecting to be able to buy everything for your own cub on 100 hours a week at minimum wage?&rdquo;<br />As Alex rattled this all off, she would glance over at Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her cheeks slowly reddened more and more as she listed everything off.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had in the back of her mind known that she probably would not be able to care for her cub herself.&nbsp;&nbsp; Not for a long while.&nbsp;&nbsp; But to be shut down and forced to see that so bluntly was more than she could take.<br />&ldquo;IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH WANTING TO TAKE CARE OF MY OWN!?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody snarls angerly.<br />Alex gave her a sad look which only pissed her off more. <br />&ldquo;Sweetie&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;I understand that you want to do right for your girl.&nbsp;&nbsp;I get that you don&rsquo;t want to give her up so soon after bringing her into this them is the right thing.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Alex&rsquo;s words were soft, and her eyes betrayed an immense sadness.&nbsp;&nbsp; But Kody didn&rsquo;t want her pity.&nbsp;&nbsp; She wanted to keep her cub.&nbsp;&nbsp; It felt so wrong to just abandon her to a total stranger!&nbsp;&nbsp; Why COULDN&rsquo;T her mother take care of her daughter until she could finally take over?&nbsp;&nbsp; She could even pay her back eventually!<br />&ldquo;Wh-why can&rsquo;t my mother just help me out until then?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody finally asks, fighting back the tears she hated.<br />&ldquo;Oh Kody&hellip; I really wish you would ask your mother these things first&hellip; ACTUALLY I wished your MOTHER would sit YOU down first!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex corrects herself.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; As a matter of fact, SHE needs to explain this to you herself.&rdquo;<br />With that Alex stands up and asks for Kody to remain there.&nbsp;&nbsp; She walks out of the office then brings her mother in.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother is looking uncomfortable.&nbsp;&nbsp;Clearly either not expecting to be the barer of this news, or having to explain it so soon.&nbsp;&nbsp;Or at ALL for that matter.<br />Alex marches over to another seat and pull it over so that the three of them form a circle.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother sits down, looking like she didn&rsquo;t want to be there and Alex sat down as well looking grim and resolute.<br />&ldquo;OK!&nbsp;&nbsp;The happy little family is together again!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex exclaims rather sarcastically. <br />I wonder if she is like this with ALL of her customers.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody thought irritably.&nbsp;&nbsp;Probably not though, it was likely due to her close proximity to her mother that gave her the ability to be less than professional.<br />&ldquo;Kassandra.&nbsp;&nbsp;I think it is high time that you sit in on our meetings.&nbsp;&nbsp;Wait!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex begins before cutting off a complaint from Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You really need to be a bit more interested in your daughters&rsquo; problems.&nbsp;&nbsp;I am completely disgusted in how hands off you are about this.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody, yes.&nbsp;&nbsp;I know you don&rsquo;t always want her to be in on out talks.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she is your MOTHER and she NEEDS to hear and listen to your concerns!&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve tried giving you two the space to finally come together on your own.&nbsp;&nbsp;Giving both of you tips and pointers on how to broach touchy subjects!&nbsp;&nbsp;I was hoping that you would come together but it seems that you two are just TOO stubborn for your own good!&rdquo;<br />Alex was now visibly annoyed.&nbsp;&nbsp; As she spoke, she kept them both under her icy gaze.&nbsp;&nbsp;Neither she, nor her mother replied as Alex continued to berate them both.<br />&ldquo;Kody!&nbsp;&nbsp;You are FOURTEEN!&nbsp;&nbsp; There is NOTHING wrong with going to your mother for help!&nbsp;&nbsp; You are STILL a child!&nbsp;&nbsp; You DON&rsquo;T need to be as independent as you seem to think you need to be!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex says forcefully staring at Kody before turning to her mother.<br />&ldquo;Kassandra, YOU ARE AN ADULT!&nbsp;&nbsp;ACT LIKE ONE!&nbsp;&nbsp;I am sick and tired of hearing that you are; &ldquo;Giving Kody her space.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;SHE&rsquo;S A CHILD!&nbsp;&nbsp;WOMAN UP AND INVADE IT!&nbsp;&nbsp; You complain that you don&rsquo;t feel like she respects you as a mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;THIS is why!&nbsp;&nbsp; You ALLOW her to be so independent!&nbsp;&nbsp; Its no wonder she got pregnant!&rdquo;<br />This was going a bit too far and her mother seemed to think so too.&nbsp;&nbsp; She instantly snapped out of acting like a kid being caught in the wrong to being an adult unjustly accused of something.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sher reared up and Kody could tell her hackles were raised.<br />&ldquo;How dare you!&nbsp;&nbsp; Its MY fault that this happened?&nbsp;&nbsp;I might work a lot but I ALWAYS make sure she was taken care of!&nbsp;&nbsp; She spends time with Pepper, your niece most of the time!&nbsp;&nbsp; If I had a long shift, I asked them to care for her!&nbsp;&nbsp;I might have left her alone at night from time to time but I never imagined she would do something like this!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother spits angerly making her feel bad.<br />&ldquo;And how would you know that?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex challenges.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Tell me this Kassandra: Why did you allow your daughter to remain at home unsupervised?&nbsp;&nbsp; Was it because Lilian was too busy to take Kody?&nbsp;&nbsp; Were they out of town and you have no other options?&nbsp;&nbsp;Did you ever think to call me perhaps?&nbsp;&nbsp;Or was it your PRIDE that made you conceal that you were in trouble?&nbsp;&nbsp; You failed your daughter Kassandra.&nbsp;&nbsp; You failed her as a mother and her guardian!&rdquo;<br />As Alex countered her mother, Kody felt smaller and smaller.&nbsp;&nbsp; She felt like she didn&rsquo;t belong in the room for this conversation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Guilt chewed at her belly as she began feeling very sorry for her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex was being entirely too unfair!&nbsp;&nbsp;Even when she was with Pepper she still got into trouble!<br />&ldquo;I-its NOT my mother fault!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody suddenly yells at Alex, unable to hold herself back any longer.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I-I still have access to the internet at Pepper&rsquo;s place!&nbsp;&nbsp;I still could have gotten into the wrong crowd!&nbsp;&nbsp;I-I even drag Pepper into things sometimes!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She sobs.<br />&ldquo;Maybe, but it would a MILLION times harder to sneak out of the house with her parents around, wouldn&rsquo;t it?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex points out as she keeps her eyes squarely on her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You&rsquo;d be far less likely to abandon Pepper.<br />Guilt kept gnawing at her.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her becoming pregnant might have been a product of her being alone and allowed to go somewhere on her own.&nbsp;&nbsp; But Theo was a caregiver.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even in someone else&rsquo;s care she could still have gotten pregnant.&nbsp;&nbsp; She still had managed to get most of his nut into her before Sierra started yowling for them.&nbsp;&nbsp; She wanted to come to her mother&rsquo;s defense, but to prove it was more her fault than her mothers she&rsquo;d need to betray her cub&rsquo;s father.<br />&ldquo;The fact is that your mother is as bone headed and stubborn as you are Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp; She is just as afraid to call out for help as you.&nbsp;&nbsp; She&rsquo;d rather drown in her own problems than to admit she needs help.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she is hurting you in the process which is why I just can&rsquo;t sit idly by any more.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She maintained eye contact with her mother this whole time who as glaring back at her defiantly but silently, eyes glistening.<br />&ldquo;Yes.&nbsp;&nbsp;You hold some of the blame.&nbsp;&nbsp; But your mother, as your guardian is ultimately responsible for you and your actions.&nbsp;&nbsp; She has ALSO been holding back some information from you.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex says, shifting her gaze to Kody before snapping back to her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Kody has been worried sick about what her future is with her baby.&nbsp;&nbsp; She has already pieced together certain things.&nbsp;&nbsp; But without confirmation she has been unable to anything else but worry.&nbsp;&nbsp;I told you the last time we spoke you need to discuss this with your daughter.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since you won&rsquo;t on your own, I have to do this instead. &ldquo; <br />&ldquo;These sessions are as much for her as they are for YOU.&nbsp;&nbsp; If you don&rsquo;t discuss anything with your daughter, how is she to understand why you do what you do?&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody, if you don&rsquo;t tell your mother what is bugging you how can she understand why YOU do what you do?&nbsp;&nbsp;I can&rsquo;t help you two if you are unwilling to help yourselves!&nbsp;&nbsp; If we can&rsquo;t come together, these sessions are a COMPLETE waste of time!&nbsp;&nbsp; And I SWEAR that I&rsquo;ll stop these sessions if nothing changes!&rdquo;<br />With her final volley at them both she sits back and crosses her arms glaring at them both.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody and her mother remain silent, Kody stares at the floor unable to meet her gaze.&nbsp;&nbsp;Out of the corner of her eye it looks like her mother can&rsquo;t keep eye contact with the angry snow leopard either.&nbsp;&nbsp; After a pause that seemed to last forever her mother suddenly takes a deep breath and sighs.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Kody&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Her mother begins, placing her paw on her shoulder.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; She&rsquo;s right, we do need to discuss the future of your cub.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;ve been afraid to discuss this with you because I didn&rsquo;t know how to bring it up to you.&nbsp;&nbsp; But you deserve to know.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Mom?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody asks, her heart dropping.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;ve been going over expenses.&nbsp;&nbsp;Looking at child care costs.&nbsp;&nbsp; The cost of baby formula.&nbsp;&nbsp;Everything.&nbsp;&nbsp;We live within our means now but, adding another mouth to feed just isn&rsquo;t financially feasible.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even if you were to get a job you just wouldn&rsquo;t earn enough money to make the difference.&nbsp;&nbsp; Not to mention it will be over a year before you could start a job.&nbsp;&nbsp;I know you really want to keep her.&nbsp;&nbsp; But we just can&rsquo;t.&rdquo;<br />Her mother spoke as soothingly and calmly as she could but it wasn&rsquo;t enough.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had been afraid that this would be her answer for months.&nbsp;&nbsp; But it was still crushing to finally hear it said out loud.&nbsp;&nbsp; She didn&rsquo;t want to believe it, but given her mothers look there could be no doubt that this was the plan that she had already came to.<br />Unable to reply Kody begins crying.&nbsp;&nbsp; The millions of arguments she could try to come up with just wouldn&rsquo;t come.&nbsp;&nbsp; She wanted to deny that this was the end but just couldn&rsquo;t do it.&nbsp;&nbsp; She knew her mom was right and that just made it really difficult.<br />She felt someone hug her and she just clung to them and just all of her pent-up negative feelings go.&nbsp;&nbsp; She hated how week this made her seem, but again she just couldn&rsquo;t fight it.&nbsp;&nbsp; She halfway expected it to be Alex but the scent told her it was her mother, which made her feel very comfortable.<br />After some time, she is able to calm herself down.&nbsp;&nbsp; She sniffs as her mother stays near stroking her ears.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was still upset about being told her mother felt it was beyond their means to keep her unborn cub.&nbsp;&nbsp; But held onto some sort of hope.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />After a moment her mother gives Alex another glare.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody wondered if she was about to go onto the offense again but doesn&rsquo;t.&nbsp;&nbsp;Instead, she speaks firmly with an obvious attempt to keep from shouting.<br />&ldquo;There are appropriate times to discuss certain things with specific furs around Alex.&nbsp;&nbsp; You are right that she and I need to have a heart to heart.&nbsp;&nbsp; But since she is pregnant its not really the time to be delving too deeply into those issues.&nbsp;&nbsp; We can have those discussions, but Id rather we wait until AFTER.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;Fair enough.&nbsp;&nbsp;I didn&rsquo;t mean to cause such a scene.&nbsp;&nbsp; We should continue to discuss her future then.&nbsp;&nbsp; From now on though I&rsquo;d like you present in our meetings.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex responds coolly.<br />The rest of the meeting luckily was less taxing.&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex refrained from challenging her mother so directly.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she did do her best to keep both her AND her mother from shying away from each other.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You two need to stop acting like strangers!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Was a favorite line of hers.<br />Once they were finally done her mother and Alex asked her to go to the front office alone.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody wasted no time to leave as she could feel the tension mounting between the women throughout the meeting.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother and Alex remained for another thirty minutes before they finally emerged.&nbsp;&nbsp; Both of them looked annoyed but parted ways cordially enough.<br />On the way home her mother gave her an unexpected piece of news.<br />&ldquo;I still can&rsquo;t take off work.&nbsp;&nbsp;I want to be there for you but I also need to pay our bills.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, starting this week Theo will be your tutor again.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She explains.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I&rsquo;ll take my leave the week before the doctors say you are due.&nbsp;&nbsp; We also need to start talking to the hospital about adoptions.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;D-do we have to?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody asks, a desperate edge to her voice.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;m sorry Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp; But we just can&rsquo;t.&nbsp;&nbsp;I don&rsquo;t want to take her away from you.&nbsp;&nbsp; But we have to do what&rsquo;s best.&nbsp;&nbsp; You can have a huge say in who takes her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Or you can leave it up them.&nbsp;&nbsp;I will be with you but let you ultimately choose who take her&hellip; withing reason.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother says sympathetically.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />The following doctor&rsquo;s appointment was a sad one for her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody tried to put it off but her mother ended up asking for her in the end.&nbsp;&nbsp; The social working was a very kind bunny woman.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody knew she was trying to help, but couldn&rsquo;t help but be sort of hostile towards her.&nbsp;&nbsp; To the workers credit she took it all easily.&nbsp;&nbsp;Seemingly having expected it.<br />She found out a lot about the adoption system though and was happy to hear that she could have a say who she gave the baby to.&nbsp;&nbsp; She could even have certain stipulations of she wished.&nbsp;&nbsp; As long as they were reasonable that is. <br />This meeting also marked the first time they discussed her options for birthing.&nbsp;&nbsp; The doctors were blunt and said a C section was honestly the best route.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her age and size pretty much dictated that being a necessity.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had been worried that would be the case, but was grateful that she had finally knew for sure.<br />The following day she found herself walking laboriously up to Theo&rsquo;s front door.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother by her side.&nbsp;&nbsp; She hated walking now.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her back ached all the time from the huge bulge in her belly.&nbsp;&nbsp; The door opened and Theo ushered them inside.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Thank you, Theo, for your help.&nbsp;&nbsp;I don&rsquo;t know what we would do without you.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother thanks him. <br />Kody blushes and looks away wondering what she would be saying if she realized he was the father of the cub growing in her belly.&nbsp;&nbsp; The adult cougar brushes it off saying it was nothing.<br />&ldquo;Kody is a pleasure to teach, and Sierra is always happy to be around her.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He replies amiably.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Well please let me know if anything comes up with her.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;ll be sure to get off on time tonight.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thank you so much again!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Giving Kody a hug she goes back to her car and drives off leaving her alone with Theo.<br />&ldquo;I have to make sure Sierra is ready for her other classes today.&nbsp;&nbsp;Feel free to go to the study.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;ll be along shortly.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He smiles to Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />She blushes a bit and nods.&nbsp;&nbsp; She makes her way to the study but before she manages to sit down, she hears a flurry of paw steps and is suddenly hugged from behind eliciting a squeak of surprise from her.&nbsp;&nbsp; The hug wasn&rsquo;t tight, but it was sudden.<br />&ldquo;Kody its so good to see you!&nbsp;&nbsp;I have great news!&nbsp;&nbsp;Daddy and I are expecting a cub now too!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Comes the excited meow of Sierra.<br />Kody freezes and turns around to face Sierra in shock.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sierra proudly lifts up her shirt and exposes a slightly rounding belly.&nbsp;&nbsp; She knew Sierra enough to know she wouldn&rsquo;t lie to her, even to get one up on her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She looks up to see Theo looking a bit miffed and worried.&nbsp;&nbsp;Their eyes meet and he looks away before shooing Sierra away.<br />But she lets herself get shooed she tells Kody they really needed to do another sleep over soon.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo for his part seemed more than anything to want to separate the two.&nbsp;&nbsp;Once he manages Kody stands there still staring, after a few more seconds she is reminded, she needs to sit by her back and ankles aching.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Well.&nbsp;&nbsp;I guess she finally got what she wanted.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had been making it plain that she and him were having sex regularly.&nbsp;&nbsp;Good for them.&nbsp;&nbsp; She thinks to herself, fighting a strange feeling in her belly.<br />Kody sits in the chair listening to Theo and Sierra.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo keeps reminding her that her tutor would arrive soon and Sierra paid little heed until the doorbell rang.&nbsp;&nbsp;A flurry of activity is heard and the door opens followed by goodbyes and the door closing.&nbsp;&nbsp; The house remained silent and soon Theo was walking into the room.<br />&ldquo;Sorry about that Dakota.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo apologizes.<br />&ldquo;Its ok.&nbsp;&nbsp; Now that she is pregnant, I&rsquo;m sure she is much needier now anyways.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody replies coolly, shocking even herself.<br />Theo too seemed a bit taken aback.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Well, not entirely.&nbsp;&nbsp;No.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;He replies slowly.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; Is everything alright?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks peering at her closely.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;m fine.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody replies a bit too forcefully, her cheeks dark with embarrassment. <br />&ldquo;Dakota.&nbsp;&nbsp;Is Sierra&rsquo;s pregnancy bothering you?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks bluntly.<br />Kody is about to reply that she wasn&rsquo;t but she just can&rsquo;t bring herself to say it.&nbsp;&nbsp; She knew full well that deep down she was annoyed.&nbsp;&nbsp; But, was it really jealousy? <br />&ldquo;Its just&hellip; I don&rsquo;t know!&nbsp;&nbsp;I just felt a tightening feeling in my stomach when she told me.&nbsp;&nbsp;I-I&rsquo;ve known you two were being intimate.&nbsp;&nbsp;I just&hellip; I dunno&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She finishes lamely.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Does me not being exclusive bother?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks, sitting down.<br />&ldquo;I know I can&rsquo;t ask for that.&nbsp;&nbsp;I only did what I did because I was horny and&hellip;. Found you attractive&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;I guess I just got used to you being the father of my cub that&hellip; it just shocked me when I learned she was pregnant by you now too.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody says with a deep sigh.<br />&ldquo;So, you ARE jealous.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He smirks.<br />&ldquo;UGH!&nbsp;&nbsp;FINE!&nbsp;&nbsp;Yes, I&rsquo;m jealous!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody says rolling her eyes.<br />He gives her a tight hug causing a blush for form on her cheeks before he continues.<br />&ldquo;You will always have a special place for me.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He says.<br />This REALLY makes her blush and she wiggles out of the hug suddenly very interested in that day&rsquo;s lesson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo laughs knowingly and let&rsquo;s be to start teaching.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody keeps her eyes averted for that morning lecture, slowly gaining the confidence to look him in the eye again.<br />The rest of the day&rsquo;s lesson went on without a hitch.&nbsp;&nbsp;Save for the many bathroom breaks she now seemed to have to take that is.&nbsp;&nbsp; They found a natural stopping point and retire to the living room to wait until Kodys mom comes to pick her up.&nbsp;&nbsp; As they sat Theo brought up the subject she had been unwilling to really talk about.<br />&ldquo;So.&nbsp;&nbsp;You had your meeting with your doctor yesterday, right?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks.<br />&ldquo;Yes&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;She replies slowly.<br />&ldquo;What happened?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks directly.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Why does nobody want to let me do things at my own pace?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She grumbles.<br />&ldquo;Because you don&rsquo;t say anything otherwise.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo replies.<br />&ldquo;HUFF.&nbsp;&nbsp;FINE!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;She says rolling her eyes, knowing he wouldn&rsquo;t let it go.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;Well, the doctors have suggested a C section would be the safest route for me when I give birth.&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;That is what you were expecting from the start, right?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He asks.<br />&ldquo;Yeah.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was.&nbsp;&nbsp; But I was hoping not to.&nbsp;&nbsp;Natural birthing just seems a better option.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She muses.<br />&ldquo;Invasive surgeries would never be suggested unless it was thought absolutely necessary.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo points out.<br />&ldquo;I know.&nbsp;&nbsp;I guess I just feel less accomplished this way.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;I think you are well above the curve.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo chuckles.<br />&ldquo;MEH.&nbsp;&nbsp;You have a point.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She huffs.<br />&ldquo;Any news on what will happen to her?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo asks pointedly.<br />Here she stops eating and stares at her food.&nbsp;&nbsp; She had been trying to not think about what she had learned in regards to that.&nbsp;&nbsp; She also dreaded telling him a total stranger was going to be taking their cub away soon after child birth.&nbsp;&nbsp; She just hoped he would take it well.<br />&ldquo;Yes.&nbsp;&nbsp;I have news.&nbsp;&nbsp; But its not good news.&nbsp;&nbsp; My mother has made it clear that I won&rsquo;t be able to keep her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She doesn&rsquo;t think that we could afford to feed another mouth.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody tells him sadly.<br />&ldquo;You mean SHE can&rsquo;t feed him.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo corrects her, seemingly not reacting at all to this news.<br />&ldquo;Y-yeah&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;Th-the doctors tell me that I will have a huge say in who can take her though&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She continues, shocked by his seeming indifference.<br />&ldquo;Well good.&nbsp;&nbsp;Glad your mother isn&rsquo;t trying to snatch her away from you the moment she&rsquo;s born.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo nods.<br />&ldquo;&hellip;doesn&rsquo;t this bother you&hellip; at all?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody asks after a moment.&nbsp;&nbsp;Staring at Theo.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Of course, it does.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was hoping that it wouldn&rsquo;t come to this.&nbsp;&nbsp; But your mother makes a good point.&nbsp;&nbsp;I can&rsquo;t very welly just tell your mother to let me take her, can I?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo asks heavily.<br />Kody sighs and nods. She was searching for something to say before the door suddenly opens and Sierra walks in calling for Theo.&nbsp;&nbsp; They exchange a wry look before Sierra comes in and finds that Kody is still there.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Excited she gets to spend time with her fellow &ldquo;sister in labor&rdquo; she asks if Kody wants to see the perspective baby&rsquo;s room.&nbsp;&nbsp;Intrigued, Kody follows Sierra to a room between hers and Theo&rsquo;s.&nbsp;&nbsp;Opening the door Kody feels a twinge of jealous and envy.<br />The room is already perfectly set up for an infant cub.&nbsp;&nbsp;A lovely crib complete with mobile is on the far end.&nbsp;&nbsp;A changing table was near it already stocked with diapers, a diaper bag and wipes.&nbsp;&nbsp; One side of the room had a collection of toys, stroller, and care seat.<br />The room itself was painted a yellowish color as were the crips sheets.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody noticed how most of it looked as though it would be long to a girl and wondered if Sierra had already decided she was having one herself.&nbsp;&nbsp;Once Sierra opened the wardrobe, she found it filled with girl&rsquo;s clothes.<br />&ldquo;I uh&hellip; see you are expecting a girl.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody comments, wondering how on earth she would know that so soon.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Mhm!&nbsp;&nbsp;As a mother you just know these things, she replies with a sly wink.<br />Kody merely grins sheepishly.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was about to point out that she MIGHT have a boy before the doorbell rings.&nbsp;&nbsp; The girls stop and listen and she hears her mother call out to her.&nbsp;&nbsp; Sierra expresses a little irritation that her show-and-tell was cut short but says her goodbyes and Kody heads downstairs to leave.<br />The rest of the month passed very quickly and Kody began feeling more and more anxious about the due date.&nbsp;&nbsp; The doctors had given her an approximate date they felt she may go into labor but reminded her it may be sooner or later.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, it was a bit of a shock when suddenly her water broke roughly 10 days before the expected date and she goes into labor.<br />Kody would recall years later how happy she was to have a nurse for a mother.&nbsp;&nbsp; When Kody called for her, she was to her room in a flash.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her fur was on end but she calmly collected Kody and drove straight to the hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp; On the drive she called her friends ahead of them and she was met at the hospital by one of her friends and a wheelchair.<br />The rest of the day was a blur.&nbsp;&nbsp; As soon as she arrived in her room she was instantly prepped for surgery and wheeled away.&nbsp;&nbsp; She remembered looking at her mother, scared and in pain.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother&rsquo;s face was creased with worry and her fur was still on end.&nbsp;&nbsp; She gave her a weak smile before the doors shut and they couldn&rsquo;t see each other anymore.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />After being settled onto a table a doctor placed a mask over her muzzle and calmly asked her to breath normally.&nbsp;&nbsp; She did, wondering when she would be knocked out.&nbsp;&nbsp; The next thing she knew her whole body was heavy as lead.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her head was super fuzzy and she couldn&rsquo;t remember what she was doing or where she had been.<br />Slowly she opens her eyes to look around and to her shock and horror she realizes she is in a hospital bed.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her going into labor suddenly comes crashing back to her as well as the fact that the last moment she could recall was going into surgery.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />She struggles to sit up when a sudden pressure is felt.&nbsp;&nbsp; She looks up and finds herself eye to eye with her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her face expressed such relief that her own worry seemed to evaporate.&nbsp;&nbsp; She sunk back down as her mother stroked her hair soothingly.<br />&ldquo;The surgery was a success sweetie.&nbsp;&nbsp;Your little girl is with the doctors for initial check-ups.&nbsp;&nbsp;You need to sleep though, when you wake up you can see her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sleep for now.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother says soothingly, knowing exactly what Kody had been thinking of.<br />Kody didn&rsquo;t really want to, but what little energy she had left was drained by simply trying to sit up.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her eyes close and she sinks back into darkness.&nbsp;&nbsp; She again had no dreams and it felt like she had simply blinked when she opens her eyes again.<br />The hospital room had no windows so she had no way of knowing how much time had passed.&nbsp;&nbsp;Looking blearily around the room she notices that her mother isn&rsquo;t in the room.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her belly felt lighter than it had in ages but also hurt.&nbsp;&nbsp;Remembering the description, she lifts up the covers and her gown to try to look at where they had operated.<br />She blanches at the sight but can&rsquo;t help but not look.&nbsp;&nbsp; It wasn&rsquo;t pretty, but not ugly either.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her lower belly fur had been shaved away and a clean incision had been made up her belly.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was gross, but morbidly interesting too.&nbsp;&nbsp; The noise of her door opening makes her drop her shirt and look up.<br />Her mother is walking in with some snacks and immediately notices that she was sitting up.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody glances away guiltily for some reason but her mother doesn&rsquo;t seem to notice or care.<br />&ldquo;Oh good!&nbsp;&nbsp; You are properly awake!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She says crossing the room and setting down her food.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; You feeling ok?&nbsp;&nbsp;Any pain?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She asks, going into nurse mode.<br />&ldquo;Nothing too bad.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She replies.<br />&ldquo;Good, good.&nbsp;&nbsp;Wait here and I&rsquo;ll fetch the doctor.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She replies relieved and walks away again.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;W-when can I see my cub!?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She asks as her mother pokes her head out and waves someone down.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;Just as soon as the doctor checks you out.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother chides.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />A nurse shows up and the two have a quick discussion.&nbsp;&nbsp; The feline walks away and her mother walks back over to where Kody was.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody felt annoyed and anxious about this.&nbsp;&nbsp; When was she going to see her cub!?<br />&ldquo;Good afternoon sleepy head!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The cheerful voice of her doctor says as he walks in.&nbsp;&nbsp; He picks up her charges and observes her vitals while asking questions.<br />Kody did her best to answer and not show an attitude, but the longer this took the more anxious she became.&nbsp;&nbsp;Just as she reached her limit the door opens up and in walks the same nurse with a bundle in her arms.<br />&ldquo;We are happy to inform the mother that she gave birth to a frankly gorgeous little girl.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The doctor says with a smile noting Kody&rsquo;s intent look towards the nurse.<br />He steps aside as the nurse approaches and gently hands the little bundle into her arms.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody does her best to not just snatch her away and allows the nurse to set her gently down.&nbsp;&nbsp; The blanket was heavy surprisingly a bit heavy and very warm.&nbsp;&nbsp; The swaddle around her tiny kitten&rsquo;s face obscured her view a bit and when she pushed them aside, she was shocked at what she saw.<br />Her daughter frankly looked nothing like her.&nbsp;&nbsp; The face that peered out at her was a dark, slivery shade.&nbsp;&nbsp; The tell-tale black stripes bracketing and other facial colors were the only clues to her cougar heritage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Holding the little bundle, she looks up at the doctor with surprise.<br />&ldquo;She&rsquo;s yours, trust me.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was the one who removed her.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He chuckles.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I can tell you that it came as a total surprise to me too!&nbsp;&nbsp;I&rsquo;ve delivered lots of babies, but this is a first!&rdquo;<br />&ldquo;I-is it albinism?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody asks, slightly worried.<br />&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t think so.&nbsp;&nbsp; She would be perfectly white for one.&nbsp;&nbsp; We did a whole batch of tests and found no problems.&nbsp;&nbsp; So, she is perfectly healthy like her mother.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The doctor responds.<br />&ldquo;Anyways, we are going to keep you in the hospital for the rest of the week for observations.&nbsp;&nbsp;Your baby is fine, but you had surgery so we need to be sure you don&rsquo;t get an infection or anything.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; With that he left Kody and her mother alone with the baby.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;May I?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother asks after a moment.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody grudgingly hand her mother her baby and she lifts her up and gently rocks the infant.<br />&ldquo;I was totally surprised when I saw her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She really is beautiful.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother says sadly.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody felt herself puff up a bit but her mother doesn&rsquo;t go on.&nbsp;&nbsp; After a few more moments of admiring her, she hands her back over to Kody.<br />To her relief her mother never brought up adoption for the entire week.&nbsp;&nbsp; Each day she had furs come over to visit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Pepper and her family made it a point to visit her once a day.<br />The one thing every fur always commented on was her color.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody had felt proud about the unique color at first.&nbsp;&nbsp; But got tired of everyone continuing to talk about it.&nbsp;&nbsp;Yes, it was unique, but they didn&rsquo;t need to gossip so much about it!<br />Kody made sure to spend as much as time possible with her girl who she named &ldquo;Savannah&rdquo; after her grandmother.&nbsp;&nbsp;Breastfeeding, bottle feeding, change her diaper.&nbsp;&nbsp; She did everything she could when she could.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />Every night was the worst though, when they came to take her back to the nursery.&nbsp;&nbsp; She did her best to stall the nurses, who thankfully never pushed the issue.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother too seemed really torn about the whole ordeal which led to her hoping against hope she had changed her mind.<br />The day of her assessment got closer and closer.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her anxiety rose each day as she thought about the fact that, on that day.&nbsp;&nbsp; She may never see her cub again.&nbsp;&nbsp; She became increasingly selfish during the time and again, the nurse and her mother let her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was both angry and happy they let her act that way, she just wished she could do more.<br />The day finally arrived and to her immense sadness she was told they would be releasing her later that day.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother had left right after the meeting leaving her with baby Savanna.&nbsp;&nbsp; Some time later she hears the door open and looks up to see to her horror, her mother and the case worker.<br />She instinctively pulls the bundle closer as if to protect her from harm.&nbsp;&nbsp; Both women give her a sad look before sitting down.<br />&ldquo;Kody.&nbsp;&nbsp;I know how you must feel.&nbsp;&nbsp; And I assure you no one WANTS to take Savannah away from you.&nbsp;&nbsp; But its already been decided and her new parent is down in the lobby.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The case worker says softly.<br />Kody heard, but she wasn&rsquo;t looking or frankly listening.&nbsp;&nbsp;Tears streamed down her face as she refused to acknowledge what had been said.&nbsp;&nbsp; She knew what &ldquo;needed&rdquo; to be done, but she felt that actually doing it would harm her more than she could put into words.<br />&ldquo;Kody, please don&rsquo;t make this harder than it has to be.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; She hears her mothers chocked up voice.&nbsp;&nbsp; She looks up and sees that her mother is crying too.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo;I never thought about how it would feel to be a grandmother, and it doesn&rsquo;t compare to your own grief.&nbsp;&nbsp; But I am here with you, I don&rsquo;t WANT to, do this.&nbsp;&nbsp; But we have no choice.&rdquo;<br />She lowers her ears and eyes and her mother wraps her arms around her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She can&rsquo;t hold it back and breaks down crying.&nbsp;&nbsp; As she sobbed, she barely hears a knock on the door.&nbsp;&nbsp; She can barely register the case workers voice after the door opens telling whomever that it was a REALLY bad time to be disturbing them, and that she needed more time.<br />She realized with a jolt that it must be whomever was there for Savannah.&nbsp;&nbsp; She moves around to try to see who this asshole was that was taking her baby away.&nbsp;&nbsp; She didn&rsquo;t care that it was voluntary, she still felt an instant rush of dislike for whoever this was.<br />Struggling to get a clear look she moves her head and freezes.&nbsp;&nbsp; To her utter shock she sees the last fur she would have ever thought to see standing at her hospital door.&nbsp;&nbsp; There at the door was Theo, looking rather sheepish as he is admonished for not waiting for her to call him.<br />Her mother notices her suddenly going rigid.&nbsp;&nbsp;Turning to look at who was at the door she freezes the same way.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo too, looks up and his eyes go wide in apparent shock as he finds himself looking at the last family he&rsquo;d expect too.&nbsp;&nbsp; You could have cut the tension with a knife as all parties sat and stared.<br />&ldquo;Uh, do you three know each other?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The case workers bemused voice rings out, breaking the spell.<br />&ldquo;H-He was my daughters tutor after she became pregnant.&nbsp;&nbsp;A-and she is friends with his daughter, Sierra.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her mother stammers out, still in shock.<br />&ldquo;Oh.. wow, small world?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; The case worker says in a false happy tone.<br />&ldquo;Wh-when were you deciding to adopt another girl?&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody finds herself asking.<br />&ldquo;Well&hellip; It was before you became pregnant honestly.&nbsp;&nbsp;Sierra really wanted a little sister and so yours just sort of fit the bill.&nbsp;&nbsp; All I knew was it was a cougar cub&hellip;&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He replies a bit awkwardly.<br />Her mother though was beginning to look at him highly suspiciously.&nbsp;&nbsp; She glances at the case worker who supplies.<br />&ldquo;Yes, Mr. Puma here put his application back in December of last year.&nbsp;&nbsp; He had to pass a load of tests and we observed his home life as well.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />To Kody it almost sounded like she was defending HERSELF more than him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody&rsquo;s mother, who had gone rather ridged relaxed upon hearing this.&nbsp;&nbsp; She could sense there was still slight doubt, but why would a Social Worker risk her job like this?<br />Kody however was still very much suspicious.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she held it in as her mother and the social worker grilled him a bit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo answered everything coolly and apparently to both women&rsquo;s satisfaction.&nbsp;&nbsp; They both turned and looked to Kody and asked her simply this.<br />&ldquo;Do you approve?&rdquo;<br />Realization slowly dawned on her.&nbsp;&nbsp; He wouldn&rsquo;t be unlikely to leave with Savannah.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was very likely to stay local, and if he was, she could still be a major part of her growing up!&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />She didn&rsquo;t need to be asked again, she nodded without a single doubt in her mind.&nbsp;&nbsp; She might not have her daughter 24/7, but she could STILL be a part of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp; And that&rsquo;s ALL that mattered.<br /><br />Epilogue<br /><br />Kody sat on the couch trying her best to stay calm as Sierra pestered her with questions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Savannah lay in her arms, nursing on her chest.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody was trapped!<br />It had been a couple of months since she had signed documents giving parental rights over to Theo.&nbsp;&nbsp;During that time, she had to spend a bit more time in the hospital then at home for her to fully recover from surgery.&nbsp;&nbsp; She did her best to convince her mother to let her to visit but her mother had had her wait.<br />Her mother was worried about Theo still, but was more worried about how Kody might react to going over to see Savannah.&nbsp;&nbsp; To her immense displeasure she made her wait until they could discuss it with Alex.<br />The meeting was a mixed bag.&nbsp;&nbsp;Alex seemed to share her misgivings for Theo but more so over her mental health regarding seeing Savannah.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody however was hearing none of it and forced a compromise.&nbsp;&nbsp; She would be allowed supervised visitation until Alex did some digging.&nbsp;&nbsp; It wasn&rsquo;t ideal, but she had to take what she could.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />These visitations were staged weeks apart and the time just never seemed to pass fast enough for her.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody worried slightly about Theo but after a month Alex was forced to give an all clear on Theo to her and her mother.&nbsp;&nbsp; She gave Alex a hard look but she did her best to ignore it.<br />Today was FINALLY the first time she could spend time WITHOUT her mother supervising her.&nbsp;&nbsp; She hated how she always felt watched and tonight was supposed to be the first time she could legit relax!&nbsp;&nbsp; She just forgot one thing; an excitable and pregnant cougar.<br />She was about to snap at Sierra when Theo came her rescue.<br />&ldquo;Sierra!&nbsp;&nbsp;Quit pestering her!&nbsp;&nbsp;Give the poor girl some room!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp; He chided.<br />&ldquo;Oops, sorry!&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sierra blushed.&nbsp;&nbsp; She beat a hasty retreat leaving them alone for the first time in months.<br />&ldquo;I never got to say, but Savannah is a gorgeous name.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo says watching them.<br />&ldquo;Mhm, gorgeous name for a gorgeous girl.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody purrs.<br />&ldquo;I&rsquo;m happy you will be able to spend time with her.&nbsp;&nbsp;I was worried you&rsquo;d be barred.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo admits, sitting next to her.<br />&ldquo;Mom is still trying to limit my interactions.&nbsp;&nbsp; But she can kiss my ass.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody scoffs.<br />&ldquo;You should be more respectful about your mother.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo points out mildly.<br />&ldquo;Maybe&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;Be honest with me.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody says suddenly, turning to look him in the eye.&nbsp;&nbsp;&ldquo; The room that was set up months in advanced was always meant for her, wasn&rsquo;t it?&rdquo;<br />The reddens a bit and looks away.&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody rolls her eyes and punches his arm.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />&ldquo;That was a rotten trick you played on me.&nbsp;&nbsp; And I still have no clue how you managed to trick that poor social worker.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Kody chuckles.<br />&ldquo;Heh.&nbsp;&nbsp;I got to keep some secrets.&nbsp;&nbsp; And I&rsquo;m sorry.&nbsp;&nbsp; If I told you, when I came to pick Savannah up it wouldn&rsquo;t have felt right.&nbsp;&nbsp; It was best to make sure your reaction was genuine.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;Theo apologized.<br />&ldquo;Well.&nbsp;&nbsp;Thank you.&nbsp;&nbsp;Seriously.&rdquo;&nbsp;&nbsp;She says, purring deeply as she looks down to their bundle of joy.<br
