for the past two months, I've been apparently obsessed with Dr Seuss, or at least some subset thereof, for reasons that I assure you have absolutely not a thing to do with my crush. Somehow, that ultimately led to the production of this abomination on a whim. I guess it plays into my alleged interest in \"difficult girls\"?\n\nThe kangaroo's design is based mostly on that from the Chuck Jones cartoon, which I thought was cuter than those found in the original book and the 2008 film. That said, as much as I admire the style, I did admittedly take a number of liberties with the design to make her more attractive. Because, dang it, if I'm going to angry rape one of my difficult girls, she'd at least better be hot!\n\nI spent way more time on this than any reasonable human should admit, let alone how much the idea actually warranted. The drawing itself only took about 6-8 hours (which is pretty quick for me, especially considering the perspective... and I still hate backgrounds), but then I spent the majority of the following two days working on this confounded story to accompany it, meticulously and painstakingly crafted in rhyme and anapestic tetrameter, that nobody is going to bother reading anyway, but it felt like an obligation considering the source material. Big thanks to rhymezone.com and thesaurus.com, without which I'd not be nearly creative enough to pull this off. Geez, how did Seuss do it before the Internet?\n\nRiver: \"Why is the baby in there too? That's the most messed up part of the whole thing!\"\n\nI admittedly felt kinda bad writing this story; it felt so immoral to come up with and flesh out this scenario. >_< Ironic, isn't it, coming from an artist who holds no reservations?\n\n[q]On the fifteenth of May of the following year,\nHorton the Elephant's worries were clear.\nHe'd made his way home to the Jungle of Nool,\nwhere he'd spend the hot days in the cool of his pool.\n\nSo much had happened since he sat in that spot,\nmore than an elephant's usual lot.\n'Twas here that he heard that historic small yelp,\nand here that he vowed to offer his help\nto a tiny pink world adrift in the air,\nfor no other creature believed it was there.\n\nAs a matter of fact, it is worthwhile to say,\nthat many his peers went out of their way\nto rid that daft elephant of senseless delusions\nand prove that those cries were figmental illusions.\n\nOne of outstanding particular note\nwas a kangaroo, sour, and eager to gloat\nat the notion of anyone subject to see\nideas in any way other than she.\nAnd there in her pouch did a small joey squat,\nyoung and naive, of the world knowing naught,\nbut there without out question it parrots quite proudly\nthe judgements its mother dispenses so loudly.\n\nSo needless to say, when the news came around,\nthey'd plenty to say 'bout the speck Horton found.\nIn spite of his efforts to see it unhurt\natop a soft clover, not dashed in the dirt,\nthat kangaroo'd go the ends of the earth\nto follow the dust speck and scoff at its worth.\nProclaiming that Horton had clearly gone mad,\nshe led all the jungle to see him as bad.\n\nLong story short, he ran far away\n(but that is a tale for a different day).\nBut not even oceans dividing the two\ndiscourage the wrath of a sour kangaroo.\nShe hauled him back over to Nool to stand trial\nfor the crime of maintaining that speck all the while.\n\n\"All of this talk of a world known as Who...\nI say he's crazy!\" The joey said \"Me too!\"\n\nThe jury of animals ruled him insane -\n\"There must be a peanut lodged up in his brain!\"\n\nJudge Yertle The Turtle passed sentence in light\nof the eye witness evidence given that night.\n\"For the safety of those whom his antics enraged,\nHorton is ordered committed and caged.\nAnd as for the dust speck, the elephant's spoil,\nit shall be melted in Beezlenut oil!\"\n\n\"Boil my dust speck? You mustn't, you see!\nTake me if you must, but please let it be.\nFor that little dust speck is more than a mote;\nit's a whole planet, with a people its tote!\"\n\n\"Humph!\" said the sour kangaroo, \"It is not!\nIt's a fanciful dream that will make your head rot!\nBelieving such things, I think you're a fool -\nnay, the biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool!\nTo end this codswallop and your tries to mislead,\nI want that speck gone!\" The joey agreed.\nSo despite Horton's pleas, seems the speck shan't be spared,\nand a vat of hot oil was promptly prepared.\n\nThe speck would have met its cruel end then and there,\nif a sudden small \"Yopp!\" hadn't punctured the air.\nAll of those wrestling the clover now faced\nthe reality they had dismissed with such haste.\nThe animals saw then they should have been keener\nthan trust kangaroos with a sour demeanour.\n\nThe jungle's inhabitants now turned to face\nthe cause of this scandalous utter disgrace.\nThey snarled at her fiercely, their anger now double.\n\"You were the one who caused all this trouble!\nYou were the one who had us believing\nthat Horton was dangerous; oh how deceiving!\nIf you hadn't coaxed us, we'd dodge all this fear!\nIf you had just listened, we'd save this past year!\"\n\n\"Now now,\" said the tense kangaroo to assuage\nthe encroaching mob's palpable imminent rage.\n\"How should I've known that a world could exist\non a small bit of dust? It sounds mad, I insist!\nI didn't mean harm, I say honest and truly!\nI just wanted Horton not acting unruly!\"\nThe kangaroo backed away further until\nshe bumped on the vat, making some of it spill.\n\n\"Alright now, I think she has learned her due lesson,\"\nHorton injected to calm the aggression.\n\"Forgive and forget, I always say;\nLet bygones be bygones and start a new day.\"\n\n\"Speak for yourself! What rubbish! What rot!\nJustice must be given - the justice she wrought!\"\na bold voice declared, and \"Yeah!\" followed others.\nThe source of the charge was the Wickersham Brothers.\n\"If anyone knows about mischief, it's us!\nWe're always close by when arises a fuss!\nWhether we cause it, or cause it to stay,\nExpect monkey business; there's no other way!\"\n\n\"So good to see you, my simian friends!\nTell them that I'm all for making amends!\"\nThe kangaroo pleaded through a desperate grin,\nbut the troublesome monkeys would not let her win.\n\n\"On the contrary, we're not here to free you.\nBetter not cross us. We'd not want to be you!\nFor you made a monkey of us and now due\nis the vengeance where we make a monkey of you!\"\n\nBefore you could even say \"green eggs and ham\",\nthe Wickersham Brothers spread out through the jam.\nThey flailed their limbs and, noisily whoopin',\ndisorientation arose as they swoop in.\nThe kangaroo couldn't begin to react;\nthe monkeys descended upon her, attacked!\nThose very same ropes that were just used to bind\nan elephant charged with losing his mind\nwere repurposed and put into use to subdue\nthe struggling throes of a sour kangaroo.\n\nThe onlooking crowd knew not what to think;\nthey nary could muster so much as a blink.\nIs this what we wanted? Is this what is right?\nEyes exchanged glances in hopes of insight.\n\nMeanwhile the Wickershams proudly displayed\nthe elegant bindings their handiwork made:\nThe kangaroo's hands and big feet had been tied\nin separate lassoes pulled out to the side.\n\nBut, not one to have things kept under her hat,\nyou'd better believe she would have none of that.\n\"Unhand me, you damn dirty Wickersham pests!\"\nThough not in position to make such requests.\n\"Me too!\" said the joey who's still tucked inside,\nhelplessly carried along for the ride.\n\n\"What do you think; should we do as she asks?\nOr should she be held to additional tasks?\"\nAgain, not a single voice dared to chime in\nfor fear of inciting more riots begin.\n\n\"What's wrong here; has Cat In The Hat got your tongue?\nJust moments ago you'd have Horton hung.\nBut all things considered, look, kangaroo,\nIf anyone deserves to be boiled, it's you!\"\n\n\"Yeah! He is right!\" a voice piped up at last.\n\"Yeah!\" the crowd echoed; their shake up had passed.\n\n\"Untie me at once, or you'll come to regret it!\"\nthe kangaroo threatened, but none of them sweat it.\n\nThe monkeys took hold of their prisoner's binds\nand marched towards the vat; they'd made up their minds.\n\n\"Okay!\" stammered she, \"I admit, I was wrong!\nI shouldn't have heckled that speck all along!\nOr Horton the Elephant, I should've let be,\neven if thinking things diff'rent from me.\nYou see? I am good now! I've learnt and I grow!\nIt won't happen again; now please let me go!\"\n\nBy this time the crowd had united in jeering.\n\"Boil her! Boil her!\" they chanted whilst cheering.\n\nOver the cauldron they tugged her ahead.\n\"Don't put me in there!\" she frantically pled.\n\"Please let me go! It's too hot to bear, ouch!\"\n\"Me too!\" said the young kangaroo in her pouch.\n\n\"Yes, what have you got against my poor kid\nwho had nothing to do with the wrong that I did!\nIf I'm doomed to suffer the fate you must give,\nat least let my innocent progeny live!\"\n\n\"Innocent! Humph!\" someone planted their thought in;\nit came from a character oddly forgotten.\nHorton the Elephant rose from the mass\nas others stepped back to permit him to pass.\nHis oft friendly visage now struck with contempt;\nhis merciful nature this bias did tempt.\nHe stopped at the prisoner, looking her over,\nhis trunk still wrapped tightly around his dear clover.\n\n\"Don't you see this is where I was just at,\nwhen I was committed behind lock and slat?\nBut rather than leaving the sanction at that,\nyou insisted this clover be thrown in that vat!\nAnd a world full of people you'd rashly lay flat,\nas I watched in horror and helplessly sat.\nSo I might be slow, and I might be fat,\nbut I'm not so thick to neglect tit for tat!\"\n\nThe kangaroo gaped at the elephant's earful,\nher ears drooped disheartened, her eyes trembling tearful.\nShe knew there was nothing else more she could do\nthan face the harsh punishments that would ensue\nat the hands of her captors determined to lynch\npersuasive deceivers and spare not an inch.\n\nWeeping, resigning to the will of the mob,\nher breathing erratic and heart fixed to throb,\nshe didn't resist the tugs at her limbs\nor whatever may come of their bloodthirsty whims.\n\nShe clenched her eyes shut as the heat waves ascended\nand felt her pouch sag as her joey suspended.\nThe two kangaroos held by ropes were out splayed,\ndefenselessly, vulnerably, fully displayed.\nThe swelter rose up from their scorching tormentor\nand milked sweat from their every surface 'twould enter.\nThe kangaroo trembled in painful suspension\nboth from intense heat and the outwardly tension.\nThe joey too whimpered as it tried to take shelter\nin its mothers thick pouch away from the swelter.\n\nThe Wickersham Brothers, of their triumph so proud,\nturned from their work to address the whole crowd.\n\"There you go, folks, the show you've been wanting!\nYour oppressor, once cocky, now ready for taunting!\nStep right up close now; come one and come all!\nDon't wait for these ropes to burn up and her fall!\nIf any you citizens wanted a turn\nto have a chance getting her back in return,\nnow is the time, she's open to you!\nStep right up, sir; tell me, what will YOU do?\"[/q]","description_bbcode_parsed":"So, for the past two months, I've been apparently obsessed with Dr Seuss, or at least some subset thereof, for reasons that I assure you have absolutely not a thing to do with my crush. He is right!" a voice piped up at last.
"Yeah!" the crowd echoed; their shake up had passed.

"Untie me at once, or you'll come to regret it!"
the kangaroo threatened, but none of them sweat it.

The monkeys took hold of their prisoner's binds
and marched towards the vat; they'd made up their minds.

"Okay!" stammered she, "I admit, I was wrong!
I shouldn't have heckled that speck all along!
Or Horton the Elephant, I should've let be,
even if thinking things diff'rent from me.
See? I'm good now! I've learnt and I grow!
It won't happen again; now please let me go!"

By this time the crowd had united in jeering.
"Boil her! Boil her!" they chanted whilst cheering.

Over the cauldron they tugged her ahead.
"Don't put me in there!" she frantically pled.
"Please let me go! It's too hot to bear, ouch!"
"Me too!" said the young kangaroo in her pouch.

"Yes, what have you got against my poor kid
who had nothing to do with the wrong that I did!
If I'm doomed to suffer the fate you must give,
at least let my innocent progeny live!"

"Innocent! Humph!" someone planted their thought in;
it came from a character oddly forgotten.
Horton the Elephant rose from the mass;
the others stepped back allowing him pass.
His oft friendly face was now struck with contempt;
his merciful nature this bias did tempt.
He stopped at the prisoner, looking her over,
his trunk still wrapped tightly around his dear clover.
"Don't you see this is where I was just at,
when I was committed behind lock and slat?
But rather than leaving the sanction at that,
you insisted this clover be thrown in that vat!
And a world full of people you'd rashly lay flat,
as I watched in horror and helplessly sat.
So I might be slow and I might be fat,
but I'm not so thick to neglect tit for tat!"

The kangaroo gaped at the elephant's earful,
her ears drooped disheartened, her eyes trembling tearful.
She knew there was nothing else more she could do
than face the harsh punishments that would ensue
at the hands of her captors determined to lynch
persuasive deceivers and not spare an inch.

Weeping, resigning to the will of the mob,
her breathing erratic and heart fixed to throb,
she didn't resist the tugs at her limbs
or whatever may come of the bloodthirsty whims.

She clenched her eyes shut as the heat waves ascended
and felt her pouch sag as her joey suspended.
The two kangaroos held by ropes were out splayed,
defenselessly, vulnerably, fully displayed.
The swelter rose up from their scorching tormentor
and milked sweat from their every surface 'twould enter.
The kangaroo trembled in painful suspension
both from intense heat and the outwardly tension.
The joey too whimpered as it tried to take shelter
in its mothers thick pouch away from the swelter.

The Wickersham Brothers, of their vict'ry so proud,
turned from their work to address the whole crowd.
"There you go, folks, the show you've been wanting!
Your oppressor, once cocky, now subject to taunting!
Step right up close now; come one and come all!
Don't wait for these ropes to burn up and her fall!
If any you citizens wanted a turn
to have a chance getting her back in return,
now is the time, she's open to you!
Step right up, sir; what will you do?"","pools_count":2,"title":"Hot And Sour Soup","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"image/jpeg","pagecount":"2","rating_id":"2","rating_name":"Adult","ratings":[{"content_tag_id":"4","name":"Sexual Themes","description":"Erotic imagery, sexual activity or arousal","rating_id":"2"}],"submission_type_id":"1","type_name":"Picture/Pinup","guest_block":"t","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"6","views":"765","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","latest_file_name":"2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2.jpg","latest_mimetype":"image/jpeg","latest_file_url_full":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/full/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2.jpg","latest_file_url_screen":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/screen/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2.jpg","latest_file_url_preview":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_large_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/thumbnails/large/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2_noncustom.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/thumbnails/medium/2742/2742370_KitSoone_kangaroo_book_page_2_noncustom.jpg","latest_thumb_medium_noncustom_x":"120","latest_thumb_medium_noncustom_y":"68","latest_thumb_large_noncustom_x":"200","latest_thumb_large_noncustom_y":"113","latest_thumb_huge_noncustom_x":"300","latest_thumb_huge_noncustom_y":"169","digital_price":""}
