is the first reference sheet for the gramurn, a fantasy race of wolfmen from my own world. Most of the important details are presented in the image itself, but as of today, all of you can choose to make a gramurn character of your own.\n\nImportant details: Gramurn are fundamentally canine despite being bipedal, and like every race native to Atrusius, they possess four digits (fingers or toes) instead of five! Previous artwork of my character has missed this fact due to my poor communication, so hopefully, in the future, that will be less of an issue.\n\nI will eventually do reference sheets for all of the races native to Atrusius and New Gaea, but this is the first, based on the results of a week-long 3D modeling sprint project for my university application.\n\nSummary of information in image follows:\n\n(0) Gramurn are copyright 2001-2017 Nathaniel Knight (aka Kharon Alpua). Any and all gramurn characters are copyright to their creators or players, under license from Nathaniel Knight. Use of the gramurn race for a fursona, character, or avatar is governed by the CC-BY license, crediting either Nathaniel Knight or Kharon Alpua as the creator of the race.\n\n(2) Gramurn average a bit taller than humans -- though they can be illustrated using 7 1/2 heads as a height guideline, the physical size of males averages 5'11\" (180cm) , with females averaging 5'6\" (168 cm). Gramurn height is measured to the crown of the head, not the tips of the ears\n\n(3) In front view, the proportions of the head are similar to a human head. They can be approximated as a circle, with the chin extended out to roughly 1/3 of the diameter beyond the edge of the circle.\n\n(4) In profile, the proportions of the gramurn head are much closer to a wolf. The ears will always rise above the circle of the head, though they may be taller than the ears presented in the reference image. They will always stick up like a wolfs ears, and never flop over like certain domestic dogs.\n\n(5) Gramurn may either have a mane or lack one. The growth of a mane is associated with the teenage years or pre-adolescence. A mane generally does not diminish with age. Full details will follow in Reference Sheet No. 2, which focuses on the head and mane.\n\n(6) [Not in text] Gramurn have cheek tufts regardless of their mane. These are simply a thick patch of fur over the cheeks, and hang down when wet. From the side, this should be placed just above the front of the neck.\n\n(7) [Not in text] The torso barrel is slightly longer than on a human, but remains barrel shaped regardless of gender. Female gramurn remain similarly shaped to males for most of their lives.\n\n(8) The back is smooth -- there is a slight curve outward behind the shoulders and inward just above the pelvis.\n\n(9) [Not in text] Gramurn possess human-like musculature in the chest and abdomen. [in text] The musculature portrayed in this image is exaggerated as if the body were shaved, though the fur will normally mask any definition (though not bulk).\n\n(10) [Not in text] Gramurn have less defined buttocks than humans. This is related to their heritage and ability to switch freely between bipedal and quadrupedal stances.\n\n(11) Gramurn hands do not possess pads, though the fur on their hands in thinner, and the front of the fingers are nearly furless, the back of their hands remains furred. \n\n(12) [illustrated, not in text] The gramurn have opposable thumbs, like humans.\n\n(13) Gramurn hands and feet have only four digits -- that is, four fingers per hand and four toes per foot. This includes the thumb and the dewclaw.\n\n(14) [not illustrated, in text] Gramurn fingers and toes possess claws. The claw is not some mystical or supernatural tool -- it is simply their natural form for fingernails and toenails. It grows from the top of the last segment of the digit, not the tip.\n\n(15) Coloration: Gramurn can appear in almost any fur pattern you can imagine, though most are monotone or bicolor. Most commonly, gramurn are within the range of colors and patterns you would see on a gray wolf or a domestic dog.\n\n(16) Gramurn feet are digitigrade, though a gramurn may choose to walk flat-footed (he will simply have a very long foot, and short lower leg, if he does so). The foot is broad enough to walk flat-footed, and to support his full weight while upright.\n\n(17) Gramurn feet and toes always have pads and a dewclaw, even though their hands do not [in fact, their handpaws have a thumb, see (12) above].\n\n(18) Tail placement: I'm going to be strict on this -- the gramurn tail is anchored through the bottom of the pelvis. An accurate portrayal of a gramurn should respect this despite what it means for clothing -- however the more appealing \"top of pelvis\" attachment is acceptable for those more concerned with aesthetics than accuracy.\n\n(19) Stance: The reference image is in a modeling stance, not a natural and relaxed stance. To correct this stance for a more natural standing pose, adjust the knees outward from the midline of the body, and sink the torso down and back in profile, such that the bottom of the tail is near the lowest \"head-line\" (in effect, reducing the figure to 7 heads in height). In addition, they will tend to lean forward slightly for balance while standing in this more natural pose.\n\n(20) Stance, 2: [Not illustrated, not in text] The gramurn can move freely between upright/bipedal and all-fours/quadrupedal movement modes. in this stance, they rest by hunching their legs down, and run by primarily pressing only the foremost segment of their fingers on the ground. for their front limb strides. \n\n(21) [Not illustrated, not in text] Gender: Females have slightly shorter and notably more tapered muzzles. Other than this, they have wider hips and narrower shoulders than males. Female gramurn have breasts, but these generally only swell when pregnant or nursing. Natural gramurn breasts should not exceed a C-cup while nursing, or an A-cup normally.\n\n(22) [Addendum] While the gramurn species is native to Atrusius within the Shattered Verse setting, the species as referenced here is available to be included in any world with furry characters. While I request a link or notification if you choose to create a gramurn character, the only terms required are the license terms outlined in (2) above -- Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) to Nathaniel Knight or Kharon Alpua.\n\n-----\n\nHeads & Manes (page 2)\n\nHEADS:\n\n[1] The head is fairly self explanatory. Ears, contour lines, and highlighted focuses on the important areas. The proportions here are important -- in a \"straight on\" headshot like the model here, the top of the nose should be positioned roughly 50% between the top and bottom of the face.\n\n[2] The head should be just over 3 eyes wide, with approximately one eye width between the eyes (the bridge of the muzzle).\n\n[3] the line of the mouth (the \"lip-line\") actually hangs down over the lower edge of the mouth - pay close attention to this\n\n[4] The lip-line goes back almost the full length of the muzzle -- however the wider the mouth is opened, the less obvious this becomes. The loose skin pulls forward the more widely the mouth is opened. This will be illustrated, along with the extent, in a future reference sheet.\n\n[5] The cheek puffs are composed of fur, and the shapes given here are approximate -- they vary slightly from person to person.\n\nManes\n\n[6] Gramurn manes are divided into four independent segments. They do share a common trait in that while they may or may not \"match\" the normal fur coat, they always share the same fur coloration as each other, so that no matter which elements of the mane a Gramurn possesses, they all match.\n\n[6a] The crest, or coronal mane, is highlighted in green, and grows atop the head. The crest is equivalent to a normal human head of hair. The crest does not grow atop the ears, though the crest may grow long enough to cover them in part or in whole. The crest may include a fringe, or bangs, and may be styled in almost any manner.\n\n[6b] The facial mane is almost entirely limited to males, and grows on the upper part of the throat and around the mouth. This is equivalent to a human's facial hear -- beard and mustache. The facial mane is generally kept well groomed and is typically either trimmed or braided. The facial mane is highlighted in red.\n\n[6c] The scruff mane begins where the crest ceases and runs down the back of the body to just below the shoulder blades, and may cover the rear and outside half of the shoulders. The scruff mane is highlighted in purple, and the definition shown is approximate (it extends further down the back, but there was no back to work with).\n\n[6d] The chest mane extends back the neck and below the ear, bridging between the facial mane, the crest, and the scruff mane. The chest mane covers the upper half of the chest in a V-shape -- find the point at the base of the chest between the breasts, and trace a slightly-curved line to the upper corner, and then around the shoulder to join with the border of the scruff mane. The chest mane is highlighted in orange. It is very rare to have both a crest and a chest mane without having a scruff mane, though it is not entirely unheard of.\n\n[7] Manes may be styled in any manner which is within reason. Gramurn are typically very practical, however, and most prefer simple styles such as tails, queues or braids, or simple brushed or combed styles.\n\n[8] A \"full mane\" is the combination of crest, scruff, and chest manes. A gramurn who possesses either a chest or scruff mane is likely to not wear traditional shirts or cold-weather garb.\n\n[9] Note that the facial mane overlaps with the cheek puffs -- the facial mane typically grows short enough that it is covered in these areas by the fur of the cheek puffs.\n\n-----\n\nModel (page 3)\n\nThis is the final output model from a one-week sprint in 2013. Meant to serve as a base, the coloring chosen for the texture is a rare color, but happens to match the color of my own avatar when illustrated. As noted above, gramurn fur patterns and colors can line up with most varieties of grey wolves and domestic dogs, and Kharon's is loosely meant to resemble a golden retriever's colors.","description_bbcode_parsed":"This is the first reference sheet for the gramurn, a fantasy race of wolfmen from my own world. The chest mane is highlighted in orange. It is very rare to have both a crest and a chest mane without having a scruff mane, though it is not entirely unheard of.

[7] Manes may be styled in any manner which is within reason. Gramurn are typically very practical, however, and most prefer simple styles such as tails, queues or braids, or simple brushed or combed styles.

[8] A "full mane" is the combination of crest, scruff, and chest manes. A gramurn who possesses either a chest or scruff mane is likely to not wear traditional shirts or cold-weather garb.

[9] Note that the facial mane overlaps with the cheek puffs -- the facial mane typically grows short enough that it is covered in these areas by the fur of the cheek puffs.

-----

Model (page 3)

This is the final output model from a one-week sprint in 2013. Meant to serve as a base, the coloring chosen for the texture is a rare color, but happens to match the color of my own avatar when illustrated. As noted above, gramurn fur patterns and colors can line up with most varieties of grey wolves and domestic dogs, and Kharon's is loosely meant to resemble a golden retriever's colors.","writing":"","writing_bbcode_parsed":"","pools_count":0,"title":"[REF] Gramurn Race Summary","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"image/png","pagecount":"3","rating_id":"0","rating_name":"General","ratings":[],"submission_type_id":"13","type_name":"Character Sheet","guest_block":"f","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"0","views":"10","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","latest_file_name":"2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured.png","latest_mimetype":"image/png","latest_file_url_full":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/full/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured.png","latest_file_url_screen":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/screen/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured.png","latest_file_url_preview":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/files/preview/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_large_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/thumbnails/large/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured_noncustom.jpg","latest_thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom":"https://nl.ib.metapix.net/thumbnails/medium/2052/2052130_KharonAlpua_3d_gramurn_lowpoly_model_textured_noncustom.jpg","latest_thumb_medium_noncustom_x":"120","latest_thumb_medium_noncustom_y":"68","latest_thumb_large_noncustom_x":"200","latest_thumb_large_noncustom_y":"113","latest_thumb_huge_noncustom_x":"300","latest_thumb_huge_noncustom_y":"169","digital_price":""}
