Eh, but everything really could have ended that way, if the author's intention was so cruel. Who could really expect the pervert hedgehogs to be on the spaceship? Who else could have thought of such a crazy situation (other than the author)? So it's no surprise that Sonic was not ready for this turn of events.

Fortunately, this is just one of the non-canon endings, so nothing threatens the health and sanity of the Hero of Mobius…

For now. *sinister laugh* You’ve read the warnings, right?

And I'm not gonna lie - the whole scene was written only for the sake of the last sentence with its double meaning.

Tears covered his eyes, the room was blurring, his heart was pounding desperately in his chest, sending piercing impulses along the nerves.\n\nWhy was he still, still conscious? Why did the frantically suffering body refuse to let go of his mind trying to escape in terror and keep at least some of his sanity? Why should he feel all the shades of pain tearing him apart, as if piercing him right through to his very head splitting in half?\n\nAnd why, oh gods, why was this happening at all?\n\nHe didn’t want to be the one who was scratched from the inside by sharp spikes in their reverse movement.
