Since this "transformation" stuff is something to become some sort of common thing within the pokémon universe I thought of giving it a try by myself. I guess people agree with me that some transformations are pretty cool and some aren't, same goes for this Mega-Evolution stuff that's going on in Generation 6.
So yes, Gin is able to transform into a Psycho/Steel Type which is called the "Defense Form".
Why? Well it's simple to understand if his stats are changed into more of physical defense and special defense rather than going into attack and special attack. His speed will be decreased as well but not as drastically as one might think due to his steel-typical body parts. I might release a concept art of the Defense Form once I'm more sure about how his legs could look like if they're supposed to change at all.
So that information is all cool'n'dandy, but what about that other thing in the far right? Well let's say that everything has it's flaws when it comes down to science. Some may work perfectly fine and some have certain construction zones... Gin is one of them.
You see, those scientist that were creating him were only responsable for his color change, they tried to go a bit further with their researches as of if it's possible to change certain color patterns of cloned Pokémon which seemed to be possible. This explains why Gin is a red colored Mewtwo and not a purple one like the Kanto and Unova/Kalos Mewtwo.
The Defense form though was the goal of the scientists that replaced the original group who created Gin. They tried to create a new form that makes him invulerable to both physical and special attacks but lowers his attack and special attack. The experiment may seem to be a success, but after Gin was "kidnapped" by one of the scientists that were creating him the researches for the new form were interrupted, causing the form being somewhat incomplete.
Gin is able to transform into the Defense Form, but there are 2 ways to cause him going into the goo-like transformation:
1. Trying to return to his normal form after a hard fight that exhausted him too much
2. If someone or something is trying to hurt those he loves the most, causing him to change into his Defense Form by force
In his "distortion form" he's not aware of what he's doing, and if he's snapping out of this "form" he can't remember anything that happened. Gladfully this "form" won't last long, but in this time no one is able to harm him in *any* way.
