He was killed along with with the scientists who created him, when their lab was attacked by soldiers send to eliminate all trace of the experiment he was the result of. Unfortunately the solders didn't know who the actual target was (Gary was on a gurney being taken to a recovery area and looked like several other patients there) so he along with everyone else were buried in an unmarked grave in a forgotten graveyard so the ones who ordered the destruction of the lab could absolve themselves of blame or involvement. \nGary, when he came an unknown amount of time later, thought he had been buried alive and, to his surprise, was able to easily dig his way out of the ground and found himself in a graveyard in a place he had never seen. He started walking down a nearby road lined with wrecked cars and trucks to what he thought was a gas station to seek help but was immediately set upon by a horde of Rag Dolls. Again, much to his surprise, he was not only able to fend them off but suffered no injuries even though he was bitten and ripped many times. When he was finally able to catch his breath among a pile of dead Rag Dolls he heard a soft giggle and turned to find himself face to face (or rather crotch to face!) with a small naked green bunny boy who refused to answer any of his questions, just took his hand and lead him through a portal that suddenly appeared to the most beautiful place he had ever seen populated by the most amazing creatures he'd ever imagined. He asked the little green bunny if this was Heaven and if he was an angel, to which the bunny and several others who had gathered around him laughed, and was told \"No, this isn't heaven, it's about as far from it as you can get, but it's a safe place and now it's your new home.
