Of all the creatures and monsters in Deadland, huge or small, none are more feared than the Rag Dolls!
Resembling traditional zombies at first encounter these creatures are as far from the brain dead shambling things of horror movies and stories as the movie BIRDEMIC is from CITIZEN KANE!
Smart, fast and ravenous in their appetite they will attack anything if they have sufficient numbers, even the huge Cloverfields that appear occasionally, which they've been known to bring down with surprisingly little effort. The official rule of thumb for them is "Five to One fucking RUN!" In other words, unless you have sufficient firepower to kill TWENTY of them and you have your back to the wall run like Satan himself is after you, cause he might as well be! Though they never seem to live in packs or communities of more than 10 they can at a moments notice get an army of over 1000 together. How they can do this so quickly is unknown at this time but the theory(and it's a scary one) is that they're telepathic and in communication with each other at all times. For the most part they leave the armed MERK and Bounty Hunter fire bases alone even with sufficient numbers because they seem to know they'll never breach the concrete and steel walls, but if they encounter them OUTSIDE and they're not on their guard they'll attack without a seconds hesitation, and leave MAYBE one survivor out of 20!
A few known fact about them :
1- There bite is NOT contagious, just septic as fuck. A bite left untreated is certain death.
2- They don't travel in packs, but they can assemble a group if need be and they ALWAYS come if one of them is in danger or has found a sufficiently large food supply( meaning a weak or dying animal or human).
3 - They can figure out simple problems and have been known to actually 'brainstorm' a problem if the reward is sufficient for them to try.
4 - They can read and write to a limited degree.
5 - They can PLAN and execute said plan!
6 - They can use tools!
7 - They can follow orders and STICK TO THEM, meaning they won't wander off if they have been assigned a task to complete!
8 - They have a good memory and can remember both short AND long term!
9 - They have ACTUAL LEADERS!
and probably most disturbing and frightening of all
10 - They're FERTILE..and compatible with HUMANS!!
No young of them has yet been found, and no human has ever (or has admitted) having intercourse with one....but it's only a matter of time.
