The Bar What is love? This is a question that has been asked by many people. The answer is unknown to most, only known to those who have undergone the test. The test of love is something every couple must go through. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity that lasts for mere seconds, but the feeling it gives you lasts for a lifetime. Once you have felt that overwhelming love for someone, you become broken. All you want to do is make that person as happy as you possibly can. One can only dream of that moment, it’s a moment that you never see coming. For some people, it comes to them very easily. Love comes to them many times in their lifetime. But for others, the heart is broken and only that one singular moment can fix it. When it comes to love, sometimes you may spend thousands of years waiting for that special moment. But all the waiting is completely worth it, in the end, you will be happier knowing you waited for the right moment instead of trying to force it. It all begins with a simple friendship, a friendship that lasts a lifetime and never lets go. Then it begins to work its way to something much deeper. Something that can’t be broken. One day it will become a pearl that you will treasure for the rest of your life. Until death do you part, you will love that person until the day you die. Even death can’t break the bond, you will feel for that person long after they are gone. Only then can you truly know what love is, only then can you truly understand how it feels to be broken. Young baby Jean was born an albino, and her father died the year after she was born. Her mother and father already knew what it had felt like to feel broken. Now Jean’s mother was knowing how it felt to be without the person she became broken with. Her love wasn’t gone forever though, it produced a beautiful young girl, with whom she would love forever. As Jean grew and grew, she became weaker and weaker. She required intensive care and had to be put through surgery after surgery. The medical bills proved to be very difficult to keep up with. Until the day that the bills got too much to handle and the hospital told Jean and her mother that they would have to cut off Jean’s life support. The two of them cried together, Jean and her mother once again felt hopeless. Just as her mother did when she felt alone her first years. Jean became very depressed, knowing that next month she would die, her life support taken away from her. She desperately needed someone to come and save her life. But who? She didn’t know anyone besides her mother. She went to the only place she knew she might find someone, to the local pub. Young baby Jean walked into the bar, walking on her crutches, barely able to walk, slumping over to a bar stool. She looked at the bartender and asked him for a rum in coke, and she began to drink it. Tears pouring out of her eyes as she sat there and drank. Danny was always a lively young boy, his mother passed away years back from stage 4 liver cancer. His mother was a vibrant deer. She became broken when she met the love of her life, the moan whom she birth Danny with. Danny and his father were feeling the depression that comes with the loss of a loved one, and the two of them were just trying to get along in life. Danny had a job as a logger. Klamath, his and Jean’s hometown was a logging town. A big factory that cut down trees to build houses and buildings. The Klamath River that ran right through town, went straight to the Pacific Ocean. The factory made billions of dollars a year and it was Danny’s ticket to a better life. Danny’s dad began to get sick and he was heartbroken. Soon enough his father was on his deathbed. The two of them stay together until his father took his final breath. “Danny” his father looked at him as he gave Danny his final words. He felt as though he was being guided by an angelic presence. “Danny there is a beautiful young girl out there for you, find her and make her the happiest person she ever was” His father coughed as he tried to finish his words. “You will have a beautiful child and live a fantastic life with them, I just know it”. His father sighed and gave in to the sickness, and passed away without pain. Danny lay there feeling great remorse and pain as he mourned the death of his father. Now having lost both parents, he got and became determined to find this girl whom his father spoke of. Danny went to the bar in town to try and get over what had just happened. He walked up to a bar stool and ordered a Jack in water. Smiling that beautiful sunlit smile as he looked over at a beautiful young girl sitting next to him. He noticed that she had crutches next to her and he looked at her. “Hello young lady, what brings you here?” Danny asked her The girl didn’t respond, she was crying and couldn’t focus on what was going on. All she could think about was her eminent death. Danny reached over and lifted her chin with his fingers, smiling at her. “Hey beautiful, I asked you a question” Danny reiterated as he gave her a kiss on the cheek The girl was suddenly filled with a sense of belonging as she looked in Danny’s beautiful eyes, becoming lost in them. His smile brightened her day and got her to stop crying. She whimpered and smiled back. “I…. I’m trying to… drink the pain away” She stated as the tears returned Danny could tell that something was wrong, and he had a sneaking suspicion that this was the girl his father told him about. Now that he knew he was in her presence, he did everything in how power to try and make her his. He wrapped his arm around her and gave her a wink, he pressed her hand against his beating chest and gave her a deep kiss on the lips. Jean’s eyes widened up as she was embraced in such a way. A way that she had never been embraced before. Soon she let herself be taken away as Danny wiped the hair out of her eyes. “Now tell me beautiful, when was the last time you gave in to your desires” He smirked at her cutely and hugged her “I can tell that you like me, and I really like you, please be my friend, I want to get to know you more” Jean smiled warmly as she looked him in the eyes, and smiled at him. She looked down at her crutches and began to cry some more. Danny lifted her chin back up and looked into her eyes. “Whats wrong beautiful? You seem scared” Danny comforted her “That’s because I am scared” Jean replied She whimpered and suddenly fell backwards off of the stool. Danny with his quick reflexes got out of his stool and grabbed her before she could hit the ground. He looked into her eyes, a few tears of his own forming as he wonders why she was scared. “Tell me… please… maybe I can help” Danny gave her another deep kiss She looked away, knowing he would feel almost as bad as she did when he found out. She whimpered and looked into his eyes. She pressed her hand onto Danny’s shoulder, and took a deep breath. She prepared for what she was about to say, looking into his eyes. “I… I’m an Albino deer, I only have a month to live, after a month the hospital is cutting my life support” She started to cry into Danny’s shoulder “Why?!” Danny yelled angrily “Because we don’t have the money to pay my hospital bills” Jean cried loudly Danny angrily made a fist and slammed down on the bar, gritting his teeth. He looked at Jean and started to cry along with her, both of them feeling these emotions together. The two of them cry on each others shoulders. Danny started to tear up and cry as well, looking into her eyes. He kissed her again deeply, smiling at her. He lifted her chin. “What if I payed for your medical bills?” Danny kissed her deeply Jean looked at him with a blank stare, wiping the tears out of her eyes, looking at him. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. No one had ever offered to help her before. She pressed her head against his chest and smiled. “Would you really do that?” Jean cried as she asked Danny “Yes, I love you…..” “W… What’s your name?” He blushed a little as he looks at her She blushed as well, her heart began to beat. She began to feel a deep warm feeling inside of herself. Unable to figure out what this feeling was. A feeling that she had never felt before. She had always wanted to know what love felt like. Now that she had been given the opportunity to know the feeling. She looked up at Danny as held her in his strong arms. “M... My name is Jean” She exclaimed as she looked at him Danny smiled back at her, rubbing her temple lovingly, smiling as he leans his dead down and kisses her again. “That’s a very beautiful name Jean” He smiles back at her “My name is Danny” Jean’s eyes widened, something about that name striked her. She almost fell backwards onto the floor. That name, it was as if she had heard it before. She was experiencing déjà vu. What was going on? She thought, why do I feel this way? Why does that name feel so familiar? She couldn’t place her finger on it, it was as if she had heard that name in a dream once before. It was as if Danny was the perfect name for his eyes, his smile, and his strong embrace. Everything about him. She got completely lost in his eyes. Danny picked her up and they both began to walk out of the bar, he grabbed her crutches. He carried her out to his pickup truck, smiling at her, he gave her another kiss as he put her into the passenger seat. He climbed into the driver’s seat and he smiled at her, feeling that he succeeded. “Jean… let me guide you and protect you, I promise I will love you forever” He smiled at her as he looked into her watery eyes She looked at him, her eyes watering and dripping down her face. She whimpered and looked at Danny, she gave him another kiss. “Yes Danny… I would love that” She smiled at him, and he smiled back warmly
