  "writing": "Hiccup felt that he backed himself into a corner, lying about being some sudden dragon conqueror overnight, impressing those of Berk with his feats of “taking down” the dragons unleashed during training, outdoing everyone else including Astrid and getting the attention of the village elder as well. So it was decided that Hiccup would be facing off against a dragon one on one, in which he would be expected to kill it. This of course upset him because he was lying to everyone else, using methods that he learned from interacting with Toothless and learning the weak spots of dragons that he could exploit during training. Taking credit as if he was an unexpectedly tough and brave viking in the making, Hiccup was now in a position where he felt there was no way out. Even his dad was proud of him. But how could he kill a dragon when managed to understand them so well, recognizing some of himself in them..? \n\nWhen the day came it was just Hiccup in the area with most of Berk gathered to watch as his dad was giving an introduction, expressing the pride he felt for his son. Hiccup felt a sense of dread growing as the time grew all the closer. How was he going to get out of this? Getting a dragon to calm down during training was one thing but how was he going to follow through and kill one in front of everyone. What would Toothless think? He wasn’t fully paying attention, being lost in his thoughts. So when the gate in the wall opened and the dragon appeared, he gasped aloud with wide eyes. \n\nOf all the dragons he was going to fight and supposedly kill, the one stepping out into view was a Monstrous Nightmare, one of the larger and more dangerous breeds of dragon. Not to mention its ability to light itself on fire. Hiccup didn’t have much experience with these and this one was looking particularly agreeable. The “fight” between them started and as the watching crowd began to cheer. He was at a loss at what to do but had to perform for the sake of his reputation, starting off by evading the flames and playing the defensive role, looking for something to protect himself with but he could only do so much. This Nightmare was more enraged than the other dragons he faced, more riled up by something that kept it lashing out. When he could, Hiccup tried to use his various methods to subdue the dragon but they weren’t working. The grass was burnt up by its flaming body and those same flames made it impossible for Hiccup to touch him too. \n\nThe Nightmare was seemingly dead set on taking down Hiccup, who chose to flee from the beast but he was eventually cornered with no place to go, his shouts echoing out and reaching all the way to his friend. Thinking that it was end for him, Hiccup braced himself but from above there was a sharp and aggressive roar that made him look up to see none other than Toothless dropping down and snarling at the Monstrous Nightmare, aiming to defend his friend, much to the surprise of Hiccup and everyone else watching. But that was just the start of it. It looked like the Night Fury and Monstrous Nightmare were going to fight but the former perked up and seemingly started to communicate with the larger, sharp horned dragon. \n\nHiccup was standing by confused as he watched the two dragon’s “talk.” With the Monstrous Nightmare more focused on Toothless, the young human was able to observe more of the larger dragon’s body, noticing something that he hadn’t before. And that was the dark angry red pointed tip that was poking out from the dragon’s tip. That portion was already visibly twitching and leaking precum onto the floor of the area. It caused Hiccup to recall something he read about in the book of dragons. About documented dragon behavior. Supposedly during mating season certain species of dragon acted with more outright aggression, even being rather forceful with their mates. \n\nYet again lost in his thoughts, Hiccup again didn’t notice the dragons changing their behavior. After some extensive communication they both decided that it was best to share Hiccup. The Monstrous Nightmare was in the throes of mating season and was really looking to breed rather than fight.
