Xcom 2 Story Part 12: Captures and Axes Chapter 1: Paying a Visit (Shield’s Point of View) Upon waking up, Kayla was nowhere to be seen… go figure… she’s never here when I want say “good morning” or just even “hello”. But besides that, I got first patrol today I heard that Ridley, the weird space dragon from some universe called Metroid, attacked my brother's HQ yesterday. I wanna see the damage for myself, so I chose the route that takes me nearby, a little detour never hurt nobody. I got suited up and grabbed my rifle, making my way out. The patrol went as well as all the others, no Xcom activity in the general area. Probably because they were repairing the damage from Ridley’s attack. As I passed by HQ, I took cover behind a tree and observed. Looks like their armoury and barracks took most of the hit, and some soldiers were dragging bodies away. Jesus, that dragon sure did a number on this place. At least it left them pre-occupied and unable to counter attack, but only for a couple of weeks at most. As I was watching from my cover, I could see the boss himself, Jet Sunstrider standing on the balcony from the main building. Just seeing him made my finger itch over my rifle’s trigger, but he’s still my brother… I can’t just shot him in cold blood. I don’t disagree that he would deserve it, but that’s not how a soldier should go out. A soldier should go out with a weapon in their hand, deep in the heat of combat, no matter what side you're on. As I was lost in thought, I took a step to start making my way back, but I tripped and fell with a loud CRASH. Some of the soldiers hust of heard that, because I heard shouting and Jet having an annoyed sigh. I got up and quickly went back into cover. “Alright, alright, let me see what the hell that was.” Jet’s voice boomed as I heard footsteps draw near. No getting away from this, I guess. As Jet approached, I ducked behind a log, waiting until Jet was close enough to not attract anyone else. I waited a little longer before jumping out, holding my rifle to his back. “Surprise.” I muttred. My brother turned around and rolled his eyes at me, crossing his arms. “Gee, here to attack us too? How lovely, perfect timing too, you Advent scumbag.” Jet replied, not looking completely surprised. I was confused at first, but then got the idea that he did not recognise me. He pulled out his sidearm and I quickly activated my shielding. “Like that’s really gonna work?” I laughed, and charged, going for a melee strike with the but end of my rifle. Jet fired his revolver, but my shielding took it. Jet ducked my attack and kicked me in the chest, sending me stumbling back. Then, I got an idea… I reached down to my equipment belt and pulled out my Psi Amp Keeper got me. I holstered my rifle and charged an ability, I aimed the Amp at Jet and fired a weak null lance at him. He took the ability well, but he shook it off and charged himself. He started widely punching at me, I managed to block most of them but he got one good uppercut that also knocked my helmet off and caused me to lose my balance, falling backwards into a tree. I seem to have a track record of losing my helmets in combat. “Oh great, it’s you…” Jet mumbled, finally noticed who I was. “Gee, who else would it be, brother?” I replied, regaining my balance. Jet just smiled, pulled out a flare gun, and before I could react, he shot a glowing red ball into the air. What followed was a lot of shouting and heavy footsteps. Pretty soon, I was surrounded by Xcom soldiers, all with their weapons trained on me. Jet walked up and held his revolver to my head. “Now would be a good time to give up.” Jet smiled at me. I spat in his face, and quickly activated a panic button built into my armor, and it started transmitting an emergency message to my friends at the blacksite. Jet wiped his face, and the last thing I remembered was him pistol whipping me in the side of the head, knocking me cold. Chapter 2: Easy Escape (Shield’s Point of View) I woke lying in a small, empty cell. My armor and weapons were taken away from me and I was left in my under armor suite. I stood up and looked around, a couple other empty cells were around be and security cameras were at all corners of the room. I looked up and saw tiny windows close to the roof of the building…. Then it hit me… an underground cell! I don’t remember any underground cells from the last time I got captured, but then again that was back when Kayla was still Xcom. Things change over a couple mouths, I guess. As I was scanning around, I made eye contact with the guard, a ranger. He rolled his eyes and approached my cell. “Well, you're finally awake. Not every day we capture a human Advent soldier.” The ranger commented. “Wow! Good job! You can use your eyes! Listen captain obvious, last I cheeked I’m the only human in Advent’s army, and if you can’t figure that out, then I fear for you.” I laughed. The ranger just scoffed. “Yeah, I also heard you're the boss’s brother… that was hard to believe until we found your military ID attached to your armor.” The rager crossed his arms, clearly unimpressed that I am indeed Jet’s brother. “Guess I get the special treatment, huh?” I chuckled. The ranger just sighed, and went to turn around… but was meet with a sword to the gut. I ducked as blood splattered everywhere, and the ranger coughed a couple times, spat out more blood, and fell over lifeless. Standing at the entrance was none other than the sword wielding warrior women herself, Kayla. “Nice of you to show up, but I was having a nice conversation.” I smiled scarstatily. Kayla rolled her eyes, retrieved her sword, and started looking for a key. “You could always join him if you really wanna.” Kayla shouted from the main office. “Eh, he wasn't much of a talker, anyway.” I replied, chuckling to myself. As I was looking around, I heard some weird mechanical noise coming from the office. I was about to ask Kayla about it when a MEC came busting out of the wall. It unfolded itself to reveal Xcom markings covered this repurposed MEC from head to toe. Kayla jumped and spun around, drawing her sword… but even the ones I made her won't do much… then I got an idea. Laying on my stomach, I reached through the bars of my cell towards the dead ranger. As I heard the sounds of magnetic gunfire and the clashing sounds of metal on metal, I felt my hand come in contact with the ranger’s shard gun. I quickly grabbed it and dragged it in, having barely enough room to fit it between the bars. I took aim and hesitated for a moment, making sure I would not hit Kayla, I took a deep breath, and fired. The MEC’s head exploded in a shower of sparks, Kayla ducked to avoid them and I covered my eyes as it was quite bright, being stuck in a underground cell for so long. After the dust settled, I tossed the gun away and crossed my arms. “You're welcome.” I said to Kayla. She just rolled her eyes and tossed me the keys to my cell. I freed myself and followed Kayla outside. When I got back to the Blacksite, Kayla wandered off and I was meet by a beam blasting past my head. I looked up and saw Caller and Keeper talking. “What the hell? I get back from being captured and this is how you welcome be back?” I shouted scarstatlity. “Huh? Oh, sorry!” Caller shouted back. I rolled my eyes and went back to my quarters, on the way by I saw Horror Sans making his way out. I decided not to question it and just get some much needed rest. Bonus Chapter: Dis-ARM-ing The Commander (Horror Sans’s Point of View) After everything got cleared up, I decided to do a little hunting. You see, I just learned that I’ve spent my entire life slaughtering thousands of human for a single human’s mastike. I’m not about to spend the rest of my fire moping about, I’m gonna do something about it… starting with hunting down that Xcom Commander guy C.Sans has a target on. Maybe killing him will be the start to redeeming myself, but I know I got a long way to go. I heard that Shieldbearer guy just came back from their HQ, so maybe I should try to find wherever that is. I ended up just walking around for a couple hours, considering my head injury makes it hard to use my magic, and I can only teleport short distances safely. But finally, I saw large buildings among the trees and I moved in for a closer look. I hid behind a boulder on the north side of the main building, keeping a tight grip on my axe. I stole a look around my cover, and I saw the same logos C.Sans showed me before I left, Xcom… so that’s how they brand themselves. Regardless, I saw one of them who looks kinda important… heavy armor, fancy military markings on his shoulder pads, that sorta thing. What was his name? Kax? Jax? No… Jet! I think… I can’t remember, but moral of the story C.Sans wants him dead, and I love killing things, so why not? I noticed that Jet was making rounds, going off one corner of the base to another… over looking some kind of repairs. As we walked near my hiding spot, I kicked a rock in his direction. Jet froze, turned to look at where the rock came from, drew his revolver, and approached my hiding spot. I waited until he was far enough away from his base and leaped out at him, holding a Axe in a combat stance. *“Suprise, motherfucker!” I laughed uncontrollably for a minute. Jet jumped and fired his revolver in a state of panic, completely missing. “That the hell?” Jet shouted, and I’m sure the others in the area head those shots going off, so I had to make this quick. We exchanged some swings and punches, but then I heard shouting coming from the buildings… I’m running out of time! I made a last minute to teleport up into the air, holding my axe high above my head. *“One HEAD dog, comin up!” I just love saying that line… but I went to finish my strike, but as I went down, my axe was caught on Jet’s arm. He was wearing some kind of armor, so I was not able to make a clean cut. I decided an arm was better than nothing, and started to put heavy pressure on my axe, desperately trying to cut though. Jet finally noticed what i was trying, and tried to shake me off, but even this crazy armor is no match for my strength… and sharp bladed weapons. After about a minute of sawing through his armor, I finally made it though, I saw blood leaking from the gash and my eye burned red. Before long, nothing could be heard beside Jet’s screams of pain and the CRACK from my axe chopping clean though the bone, completely dis-ARM-ing him. Jet fell to the ground, holding the stump. I looked up to see a bunch of other humans holding crazy looking rifles. They eyed Jet, then me, back at Jet, and locked eyes with me again. I heard their rifles powering up and leaped behind the boulder again as a ton of plasma fire flew past my head. *“Guess I’ll take my leave, then!” I shouted and started to muster my magical energy. You see, I can’t teleport long distances safely in a hurry, but if I contrate most of my power on a long distance shot, I can manage it. It just takes a helluva lot of energy and I get super tired after. Regardless, I snapped my fingers and teleported myself back to the Blacksite before they could gain up on me. I landed right in front of C.Sans’s quarters and fell to my knees. C.Sans’s door swung open and there he was, eyeing me and crossing his arms. *“What the hell happened?” C.Sans asked. He approached me and offed me a hand, I took it and got up with effort. I laughed again as my eye faded out and both turned to normal. *“Oh, if only you were there, Classic!” I commented in an evil tone. *“Ok really, what happened?” C.Sans asked again. *“Well, I meet you're Xcom friend, I tried to kill him but I was unable. But I did manage to dis-ARM-him though!” I replied. *“Uh hun… I see… well, hopefully he’ll be busy dealing with that for a couple weeks, give us more time to deal with Error.” C.Sans rubbed his chil. *“Anyway, as fun as that was… I’m fucking tired as hell now… I need a nap after that…” I started shambling towards my quarters. *“Oh, and you're welcome!” I shouted before entering my quarters. I fell into my bed and instantly fell asleep on contact. Just another day in the OC, amiright?
