Mouse on the lam (PROLOGUE) By JessiRain At an undisclosed locations, far away from any town, city, or even settlement, A lab dedicated to the genetic creation of anthropomorphic animals, Or, Furrys for a better word. The experimentations and even the lab itself, hidden under the disguise of a company that creates and distributes makeup products, However, This Place has a much more sinister and inhumane Nature hidden in plain sight. Due to the guise of this company, many officials and lawful individuals have rejected to truly Discover The true nature of this place. "Do You have the reports on the last subject?" "Another failure sir." One of the scientist's Reports to the other while handing over a clipboard with the details listed on a number of files. "At least they breed fast. Subject deaths would be a problem if not for that factor." the scientist replies, flipping through the papers clipped to the clipboard. "It seems the subject's body rejected the genetic injection, just like all the rest." He adds, Not removing his gaze from the paperwork handed to him. "Dispose of the property per usual sir?" The other scientist Coldly asks, to be answered with a silent nod, after the scientist gets his answer, he leaves to do as he was told. When he returns he Carries with him a small wire cage with a small white mouse poking it's nose through the wire, curious of it's surroundings. He makes his return to notice the other scientist that he was recently talking to arguing with a another man, A scientist as well, but in a different division, devoted to the care and well being of the test subjects. "Your test's aren't working! Why cause so much pain and even death running the same crazy tests! It's insane!" The 'caregiver' asks with concern in his voice, the man of a middle age, with prominent salt and pepper hair, and deep, sad blue eyes, mirroring his words of unacceptable of what was going on in the Lab portion of the Building. however, the scientist does not bat an eye, step back, or even skip a breath, such things possibly came naturally to the scientist, just another job. "I study the genetics of these vermin, they don't even know what's going on, so take your hippy bullshit, and leave the actual science to the people who were more than a pet store employee before joining the business." The scientist Bites back toward the 'caregivers' concerns, harshly brushing him off, and looking towards the cage that was delivering the new test subject. "Sir, I have the next subject ready." The returning scientist Informs the other scientist, who seems to be in charge of the tests, holding that small mouse out by the tail as the other roughly injects that mouse with a strange liquid filled syringe. The caregiver of the test subjects begins to storm off in disbelief that his words would not reach the others, Just to be tripped and laughed at. The man who delivered the mouse to the head scientist even spits on the man while he's down. "you don't belong here. If you want you keep getting a paycheck, You'll stay out of our way." months have passed as the scientist continued to inject and experiment on that same white mouse. The caregiver continued to protest with the scientists despite being the only Person with some level of morality among the facility failing multiple times to reason with the others, To no level of success. As the caregiver approaches the scientist who was injecting the mouse the lab's alarms suddenly went off, blaring louder by the moment, with red lights Matching the Loud Alarm. "Our cover is blown! They know were not only testing cosmetics!" A security personal shouts running from the hallway, the Staff Beginning to panic and Gather their belongings. "You know the drill! We can't let our research get out!" The head scientist shouts, while many of the other scientist and staff start causing havoc, destroying computers, burning documents, ignoring the many test subjects in the cages. "Leave them, the fail safe will take care of it!" The Head scientist yells out to the others, as they make their escape. The man who had some level of morals however, with quick thinking, was able to find advantage in the chaos and Destruction to rescue that small rodent they had been experimenting on before making his way to the emergency exit, Concealing the mouse securely in an empty water bottle that he'd poked holes in and carried in his pocket, he was able to escape to a nearby forest, just barely before the entire facility went up and flames then exploded, taking all the lawful intruders with the explosion, the debris from the labs explosion injuring the The man who rescued the mouse. Why he risked his life to save that single mouse instead of escaping right away with the others Was a quick decision, one he did not even think to make, he just acted on impulse to save a life much smaller than his own, and in the process, making that mouse his responsibility. The lab did not have official records of the staff that worked there, officials, and law enforcement could not track any of the staff down, simply because they did most their work with fake names, paid in unmarked bills, and remained very secretive until it's timely destruction, but he could not return home, the man had a much bigger threat than the law to worry about, the other staff all knew each-other, So the man took the mouse, and started an entirely new life, just him, and that mouse. (End prologue) Note From JessiRain: Thank's for reading this, I know it's not that impressive, or even long, But I really wanted to share Roxy Emerald's story, During the prologue, Roxy is a feral, a simple test subject In a situation where her own wellbeing is not a concern. More chapters, or Parts will come soon. In the next chapter/part, Please keep your critisism controlled, this is my first Public post, The title will be less confusing in later chapters/parts. The prolouge is simply, just the begining, and I really tried my best. Thank you.
