several years. The story also features various timelines. I’m not a writer, so please excuse the crappiness of it all :P \n\nhttps://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=750299\n\nWARNING: \nThis story contains elements of death (allthough they aren't too much in focus) and injury. \n\n========================================================\n\n It’s been a month since the accident. A little bunny can be heard crying in his crib for some parental affection, yet no one’s there to comfort his pain, except for his uncle, who took the little bunny under his protection ever since the tragedy. \n\n“You have your mother’s strong voice, little one. Come here…” he said, picking a young Jeffy up. \n\nThe bunny was only two years old, a very fragile age to have to deal with the loss of both parents. \nIt all happened while his mother, father and him were coming back home from a short vacation to the seaside. His father was the driver. He was a handsome and athletic rabbit who cared deeply for his family. His mother was sitting next to her husband, while Jeffy was strapped in a child security chair, in the back, playing with a toy airplane. \nIn a fraction of a second, the peaceful sight of the happy lapine family got shattered by a massive lorry, smashing and destroying the car in which they were. It was no one’s fault. The lorry’s steering system had a malfunction, causing the massive vehicle to collide head-on with Jeffy’s family car. \n\nHis father was declared deceased on the spot, while no one knew of his mother’s whereabouts.\nSomehow, she may have survived and got herself out of the car. But that was only speculation, because if she did manage to survive, why would she leave her son behind and not rescue him from the wreckage? \nJeffy managed to survive with only a few bruises, mainly from the multitude of seatbelts with which he was carefully strapped before the drive. He was in shock, and crying when the ambulances arrived. \n\nThe medics saved his life and informed his only living relative, his uncle, about the tragic accident.\nAfter a month of thoroughly searching for Jeffy’s mother, given the circumstances and the time that had passed, the authorities couldn’t do anything else than to declare her deceased as well.\nThat was mentioned in the letter Jeffy’s uncle, Matthew, received from the local authorities. \n==================================\nMatthew was a wealthy business rabbit and the legal guardian of Jeffy. \nWhen his nephew turned 5, he got him his own house and tended to Jeffy’s every need. \n==================================\n Immediately after the accident took place, Jeffy’s mother, Cindy, -did- survive and found her way out of the car. She was in shock and her mind was filled with images that didn’t make any sense at the time. Her survival instict kicked in and didn’t even look back, she just wandered off into a nearby forest, without being seen. In actuality, her memory was a mess and she was very disoriented, she’d forgotten about everyone in her life, including her only son, Jeffy, for whom her motherly love was beyond infinite. Unfortunately, she couldn’t remember about anything, not even the accident. She was hurting all over , especially from her head injury, which caused the loss of her memory in the first place. \n\nAfter wandering senselessly for hours into the forest, she finally collapsed on the ground, tired and defeated. The following morning, after barely waking up, her body seemed to ache even more, yet she had the strength to get up and keep on walking. Her mind wasn’t as fuzzy as the previous day, but she still couldn’t remember anything about anyone in her life. Stumbling across some berries, she picked and ate a few, and after a few hours of walking, Cindy got into a nearby small town, where she almost got hit by, ironically, an ambulance which belonged to a mental health institution. \nThe driver managed to hit the brake just in the nick of time and the orderly got out of the ambulance to check if she was okay. As he noticed Cindy’s condition and mental state, he gently pulled her arm and took her to the back of the ambulance, signaling the driver to head back to the hospital. \n\n“Do you remember your name?”\n“N-Name?” she asked, looking at everything else inside the back of the ambulance other than the orderly’s face, just like a mental patient. \n\nAt this point, he knew she’d been through something severe or a shock, causing her insanity. \n===================================================\nOver the months, at the Mental Institute, her state improved and got declared mentally healthy, with the exception of her memory. She’d go out for walks in the institute’s garden, which was rather beautiful, especially in the spring. \nAfter years of therapy, her memory was still fuzzy and she could only remember bits and pieces of her life prior to the accident, but other than that, she was fine, she had friends at the Institute and the doctors were very lenient towards her. \nSometimes, at night, Cindy’d wake up screaming and scared, because she’d dream about the moment right before the accident, sometimes she’d just dream of herself surrounded by different furs in her life. \nThe dreams were nothing but her brain trying to remember and put the bits and pieces together back in memories, like a puzzle.\n\nOne day, however, during hypnosis therapy, Cindy remembered more than just bits and pieces or the accident. It was the face of her son, when he was very little. She suddenly said “That’s… That’s my son. I have a son! I have a SON!!” starting to shout as tears formed in her eyes. That very night, her dreams were more clear and she could recognize a lot of familiar faces, though, there was one which stood out: her son’s. \nAs the days went by, she became obsessed with it, and told the doctors about it as well, thus, they’ve encoraged her to go to therapy twice as many times a week. \n\nFinally, after a few more months of therapy, she was able to remember names, faces, and various past events that took place in her life. The worst part of it all was remembering about the accident and about the fact that her husband and her son were in that car. She didn’t know if they were alive or not, but she reckoned that if no one came for her after such a long time, something terrible might’ve happened with them. What makes things even more terrible is the fact that she could remember being pregnant with a bunny girl… a little sister for Jeffy. Unfortunately, because the impact was so severe, she lost the pregnancy. \n\nEverything came back to her as a shock, and with each day passing, her pain and sorrow grew more and more, until she had to do something about it, and that was getting in touch with her brother, Matthew, after such a long time. \nHoping his phone number was still the same, she asked the doctors if she could make a phonecall, as she was able to remember almost everything. As they nodded, she dialer the number and asked to speak with her brother. Matthew almost dropped the receiver down when he heard his voice. Could it be? Could it be his sister, calling him after five years, when everyone thought she was dead?\n\nIt seemed so. After talking for several minutes and telling him about what happened during the past five years with her life, he rushed from his office to pick his sister up from the Institute. He had to sign the discharge papers, stating Cindy would also be under his care for a few more months to come, as part of her therapy, and they rushed back towards his place.\nOf course, the first question she asked while in the car was about about her son and husband. \nMatthew: “Y-Your son.. Jeffy… He’s a good kid. I looked after him ever since the accident, and he escaped unharmed. Oh, how he’s grown…” he answered. \n\nShe had happiness tears in her eyes, knowing her son was safe, “What about my husband, Matthew?” she asked, sensing though that there was something wrong.\n\n“I… I’m so sorry, baby… “, he said, to which she burst into tears. At that point, Matthew pulled over and wrapped an arm around Cindy, holding and comforting her. \nEverything seemed too much to handle, but when she heard the words “ Come on, baby, come on… you have a son and he’s probably going to burst with joy when he finds out his mother’s alive. You have no idea how much he wanted you to be by his side all these years…”, Cindy had the courage to go on, eager to see her son. \n==================================================\nThings didn’t really go so well when Jeffy saw her for the first time after 5 years, thinking she was dead all this time. He ran to his room locked himself in and started crying. He didn’t know what to think. He didn’t know where she was, or why she’d abandoned him. \n\nCindy felt terrible about that, but there was nothing she could say or do to make up for the time she wasn’t here to protect and love her son. It wasn’t her fault. \n\nAs much as she wanted to squeeze Jeffy in her arms, she decided to let him process everything and maybe restore their bond, slowly. \n\nMatthew also told Cindy about Amy, the cute little fennec fox girl living with Jeffy, whom he considers his little sister. She was more receptive, and quite excited to meet Jeffy’s mother, and they got attached to each other quite quickly. \nNow that she was here, Cindy couldn’t separate Jeffy from his little sister, Amy. In fact, the little fennec was about the same age as her own daughter would’ve been if Cindy hadn’t lost her pregnancy. \n======================================================\nAs the days passed by, Jeffy got a little more close to his mother, but it was still very hard for him to accept her, even if he couldn’t be more happier to have his mom with him again. The problem was that he didn’t know how to express his feelings very well towards her. \n\nAmy was already seeing her as a mommy, and got really attached to her. \n======================================================\nOne evening, as Cindy was cuddling Amy to sleep in the living room sofa, Jeffy walked up to his mother and sat next to her, a little embarrassed. Cindy looked at him as the little fennec girl was already sleeping, yet she didn’t say anything. Jeffy was just flipping through the TV channels but nothing good was on, so he threw the remote onto the sofa and wanted to stand up, when she gently grabbed his hand and pulled him a little closer. \n\nAt that very point, he leaned towards her, placing his head on her chest. Cindy wrapped her arm tenderly around his body, and suddenly, as she held him, she could hear silent sniffles coming from her son. He squeezed her with all his strength and downright started crying, finally letting out all the pain he’d felt over the years for not having his mother close, realising it wasn’t her fault and also feeling so happy she was here, now. \n\n\nEND.\n\n\n","writing_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>This is the story about Cindy, how she was separated from her son, Jeffy and how they got reunited after several years.
