"writing": "Schuchard Event Earth\n\nHistory\n\nThe world was basically our own until Doctor Emil Schuchard, a physicist working on trying to prove a form of relativistic ftl travel instead succeeded in causing a multiverse event, threading together multiple alternate earths along different places within their time-stream.\n\nTo be honest, it was not entirely his fault, as he was a victim of sabotage, but the after-effects were felt everywhere.\n\nOne earth's entire supply of 'biological servitor' DNA was dumped directly into each living human's body, like it was encoded to. If it had not been for the effects of the singularity upon space-time around everyone on earth, their immune systems probably would have fought the invading DNA off, as it had never been intended to be inserted in anything but an egg. As it was, with space-time being so wrecked by the event, everyone was altered immediately.\n\nIt took another species detecting the distortions to come and finally close it, with the help of Emil Schuchard, as they didn't wish to subject themselves to the distortions, but did provide the equipment and exotic matter needed to seal the singularity.\n\nMany petty wars broke out during the time after the event, as societies collapsed and infighting broke out all over, only Canada, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea managed to maintain infrastructure and reach out to help the rest of the world in the years that followed.\n\nTruthfully, society was rebuilt from the ground up in only five years, as many egos had been crushed to find out earth was not the only place intelligent life could be found. More level heads decided on the district form of government, each one being much smaller than most of the countries of old.\n\nPeople\n\nThere are numerous species, too many to list, and they were spread out all over rather than with geographic limitations, there _are_ still some regular 'Humans' around(someone decided to use stored DNA to alter furries back into Humans), at least one entire district's worth.\n\nA few species, including some such as the Snowpaw Bunnies, were built to serve multiple purposes, and were quite successful at them, from being scouts to being bed pets when their other abilities were no longer needed, with many of the 'cute' species needing only some small flips of their DNA to achieve it. Turning it back off is another matter, fortunately only a few species have such DNA in them and splicing the needed bits into others has proven difficult. One researcher into it kept running into multiple problems, but there are chemical substances that mimic pet hormones and temporarily give the same affects, though it risks permanently turning on the servitor DNA of someone who has latent pet DNA(such as all Snowpaws). An expensive alternative to Haigha is a collar system that controls a bunch of nanotech injected into the subject's body, making them a semi-permanent pet, for as long as the master wants it turned on.\n\nThe population of the Earth currently totals some six billion inhabitants, with a further 3 billion spread across the solar system, though fully half of that are in orbit, in L4 and L5 factories focusing on getting the Sigma Draconis project out into space, a long-term endeavor using large hollowed out asteroids as ships with slow ftl drives to reach the star in question.\n\nAll current languages on our earth are spoken, but the proliferation of translation devices renders that a moot point.\n\nMany people around the world still practice their religion and cultural traditions.\n\nIn the face of advanced technology, one new innovation has appeared in neighborhoods within many districts; the retro-social society, where an emphasis is placed on face-to-face interactions when possible, to preserve the joys of actual physical friendships and to try and teach children empathy and compassion.\n\nWhile, as of 2081, Biotechnology does allow for many things, messing with the DNA of the species can be difficult, most notably in the change of specific traits for a species, or even an entire species itself, due to restrictions placed upon those strands by the corporations that invented them, \"proprietary DNA technology\" in their universe. While cracking each individual's 'encryption' and changing their species or some things they may not like, genetic fur color for instance, is possible, it can be very hard even nearly impossible if the individual in question is unlucky enough. For most, it is not worth the expense, the hassle, and the time required. Proscribed changes, however, outside of specialized species traits, are fairly easy, such as gender.\n\nIt is also possible to make a new body and `move' into it, though it is an entirely other time-consuming and intensive process requiring digital uploading and cyber brains, surgery and a brain transplant, or, as is top of the line, cortical implants that can read and move all of the neural connections from one body to another. Needlecasting does exist, for those with the means, though use of an emergency upload in case of death or to `get the hell out of dodge' leaves the brain of the body being exited nonviable.\n\nTechnology\n\nThe level of technology, especially biotechnology, has had many leaps forward over the years, with a drive to learn as much as they could about the discoveries from the singularity, to unlocking the mysteries of the technology that had been used on them.\n\nWireless internet is about the speed of fiber, today, thanks to numerous innovations. Wearable computing, from a regular display device worn on the wrist or held in the hand, to glasses or goggles, to a more distributed system with contacts as a display, is commonplace.\n\nImplant computing has also been achieved, though the implant is really a bio-computer that is injected into the base of the skull where it builds itself. A distributed version of the virtual implant is also available.\n\nHolographic technology does exist, and is how many displays work, think The Expanse.\n\nVR, especially games, is quite common, with the cheapest version being about what we have today, though MUCH lighter, and can easily be used with even the most common glasses/goggles display, though implant, especially distributed, or a more helmet like option that can read and transmit sensory data to the wearer, while connected to a powerful computer, can let even those without implants experience full sensory VR. All but the most risky and illegal programs contain the ability to easily switch back and forth between real world and VR sensory information, with the one not focused on seeming as a `ghost' in your perceptions. VR programs range from any sort we have today, though complete with full sensory for those with the rigs, to full-on pornographic adventures, complete with all the feeling.\n\nOne new fad for those with implants or full VR setups is the sensory experiences, passively experiencing everything a person is doing and feeling, with programs ranging from theme park rides to off-earth experiences, from the fantastic areas in the Islandia orbital station, to sexual escapades.\n\nBiotechnological alterations are highly advanced, allowing one to alter their form in many ways, even, with time spent in a nanowomb, change their species, their sex, or even achieve a gender morphic system, where they can alter their gender in numerous ways, from male to female to hermaphrodite and many things in between.\n\nMagic/Supernatural\n\nOther than dimensional disturbances due to the scar in space and time at ground zero of the Schuchard Event, some people have begun to develop minor mental abilities, but the world governing body has tried to keep it a secret. This has not stopped some unethical researchers into trying to create them in laboratory experiments.\n\nGeographical\n\nWell, it's Earth, not much has changed, except the crater at the lab building for the ftl experiment, and Yellowstone almost blowing its top during the stresses of the Event.\n\nWhile there are air cars and regular cars, mostly automated in both instances, though ground vehicles are allowed manual operation, while a pilots license is required for the air vehicles to be piloted manually.\n\nGeopolitics\n\nThere is a sort of one-world government, simply called the governing body, who's job it is to oversee relations between districts and keep each district from going too far, as each district is given a large amount of autonomy.\n\nI have thought of having a couple of other governments that left the cooperative governing body that formed in the aftermath of the event to rebuild but have yet to detail.\n\nWhile there are no wars, there are sometimes tensions between the earthbound and the spacers.\n\nSociety\n\nWeapons technology has advanced, with dart weapons, needlers, electrical pulse stun weapons, and numerous biological weapons. Though plasma and high-energy pulse weapons exist, they are military class weapons, due to complexity and cost.\n\nMedical technology is extremely high, due to the high level of biotechnological innovations, minor injuries can be healed in the field with ingested, gel, or spray-on drugs. Beyond that, there are briefcase-sized auto-docs to deal with more major trauma, like fractures, breaks, or cardiac arrest in the field, larger diagnostic beds and auto-docs for ambulances and hospitals, then there is medical nanotechnology which can fix just about any injury, provided the individual is still alive. Auto-docs can inject and support emergency life-support nanotech to at least keep a brain alive in worst-case scenarios.\n\nThe central governing body takes care of relations between districts, makes sure of the distribution of resources, and tries to keep each district from going too far.\n\nThe districts themselves have a high level of autonomy, and most have a good level of liberty within them, some almost to the level of lawlessness. Many places have given up trying to control children being sexual with each other, as so many species have the urge way early, especially in the case of the Snowpaw Bunny. Sexual relations between children and adults is only legal if the child's guardians say they are, but if the child says it's not consenting, in most places the person can get into trouble. In some of the more interesting districts, full-out pethood and slavery is completely legal, where someone can volunteer or sell themselves, or someone else they own, including their own children, into servitude. Note, pet/slavery is highly regulated, to make sure of the health of the individuals in question, and if someone wants out, there are numerous people always willing to pay to free them if it wasn't voluntary.\n\nLocal trade is usually carried out using the OWG dollar, though the few countries that refused to join have their own currency and are almost universally ignored by the districts, content to leave the barbarians alone if they leave them alone.\n\nEducation is still taught in a grading system, though every place but the retro-social societies tend to teach by vr and artificial intelligence.\n\nThe retro-social schooling system is organized around a central 'homeroom', where the children come to, with one central teacher, who has a specialty that is taught in the first period, with an assistant in that field, then other specialists who come around during each other subject, rather than the students constantly wandering the school. The students are usually grouped into four units of six children each, who are supposed to help one another with learning, to try and ensure the best education possible, and despite what most people think, those schooling systems make full use of learning technologies, even virtual reality, their main focus is on people learning with people they know in person. Finally, each classroom is almost its own little district, the teacher in question is able to allow children to do just about anything within the laws of the area within their classroom, so long as it does not disrupt learning. As an example, being allowed to remove footwear or outerwear, or even be nude, if the teacher so chooses.\n\nArts and Entertainment\n\nArts and entertainment have changed somewhat, with the advent of virtual reality/augmented reality, holography, and artificial intelligence.\n\nLeisure Activities\n\nMost leisure activities are about the same, only with VR versions of the same activities making people who want to experience them without the danger involved.\n\nToying with the idea of danger, some places have come up with the idea of predator/prey games, chasing through an arena or even wild environments. Deaths due to these have been few and far between, fortunately, thanks to the high level of medical technologies and that most people don't want to go all the way up to trying to hurt one another. Some games are set up so the winner gets to have sex with whichever loser they catch if they want to.\n\nArchitecture\n\nMany places do have traditional styles, especially within the retro-social areas, but many others include light and holographic displays, things we would consider nearly impossible, like one architect's piece of an entire building that looks like it is floating and only held down by thin cables that are very sturdy support pillars holding it up.\n\nFashion/Dress\n\nBusiness suits do still exist, just try getting big businesses to give them up, and so do t-shirts 'jeans' and so on, but these are made with modern materials allowing them to 'breathe' better on the low end, up to 'buzz wear' that even dry and clean themselves of most normal forms of filth and most smells.\n\nShoes do exist for digitigrade people, put out by the same companies that do sport wear for plantigrade footwear, though many digitigrade people do without shoes and socks as often as they can.\n\nGlasses, for everything from virtual interface devices(VIDs) to corrective devices(often including a VID) use little comb/brushes or small fabric hooks on the arms and nose piece to hold them in place for people that do not have a terribly active lifestyle, with other ways to hold onto those without fur, from electrostatic attractants, to just using straps for someone into physical activities.\n\nContacts, for people who can't or don't want to have surgeries but don't want to bother with glasses, there are procedures to implant a bio-film directly over the person's eye that can act as both corrective lenses and, with a worn VID, as the displays for it.\n\nWith holographic technology in existence, some people have chosen to do completely without clothing and simply use holograms to make themselves 'decent'. The typical holographic 'clothing' accessory is a belt with holographic projectors and a powercell to power it. A slightly upgraded version can even use minor field effect technology to help heat or cool the area close to a person's skin.\n\nWith the species' greater resilience and adaptation for their environments than their Human ancestors, a number of people have chosen to be nudists and wear nothing at all, or next to nothing. Most places require a license to show their choice, though prudish districts find it difficult to deal with, they are required by the governing council to abide by the nudist licenses and at least allow holographic wear.\n\nReligion\n\nWhile many of the religions of Earth still exist, they have gone through quite a number of changes, and are not as large as they were, especially in the cases of more fundamentalist versions that saw Humankind as the entire reason for all creation, and Earth as the center of everything.\n\n",

Some games are set up so the winner gets to have sex with whichever loser they catch if they want to.<br /><br />Architecture<br /><br />Many places do have traditional styles, especially within the retro-social areas, but many others include light and holographic displays, things we would consider nearly impossible, like one architect&#039;s piece of an entire building that looks like it is floating and only held down by thin cables that are very sturdy support pillars holding it up.<br /><br />Fashion/Dress<br /><br />Business suits do still exist, just try getting big businesses to give them up, and so do t-shirts &#039;jeans&#039; and so on, but these are made with modern materials allowing them to &#039;breathe&#039; better on the low end, up to &#039;buzz wear&#039; that even dry and clean themselves of most normal forms of filth and most smells.<br /><br />Shoes do exist for digitigrade people, put out by the same companies that do sport wear for plantigrade footwear, though many digitigrade people do without shoes and socks as often as they can.<br /><br />Glasses, for everything from virtual interface devices(VIDs) to corrective devices(often including a VID) use little comb/brushes or small fabric hooks on the arms and nose piece to hold them in place for people that do not have a terribly active lifestyle, with other ways to hold onto those without fur, from electrostatic attractants, to just using straps for someone into physical activities.<br /><br />Contacts, for people who can&#039;t or don&#039;t want to have surgeries but don&#039;t want to bother with glasses, there are procedures to implant a bio-film directly over the person&#039;s eye that can act as both corrective lenses and, with a worn VID, as the displays for it.<br /><br />With holographic technology in existence, some people have chosen to do completely without clothing and simply use holograms to make themselves &#039;decent&#039;.&nbsp;&nbsp;The typical holographic &#039;clothing&#039; accessory is a belt with holographic projectors and a powercell to power it.&nbsp;&nbsp;A slightly upgraded version can even use minor field effect technology to help heat or cool the area close to a person&#039;s skin.<br /><br />With the species&#039; greater resilience and adaptation for their environments than their Human ancestors, a number of people have chosen to be nudists and wear nothing at all, or next to nothing.&nbsp;&nbsp; Most places require a license to show their choice, though prudish districts find it difficult to deal with, they are required by the governing council to abide by the nudist licenses and at least allow holographic wear.<br /><br />Religion<br /><br />While many of the religions of Earth still exist, they have gone through quite a number of changes, and are not as large as they were, especially in the cases of more fundamentalist versions that saw Humankind as the entire reason for all creation, and Earth as the center of everything.<br /><br /></span>",
