The painted result of a second fusion study of
\n\t\t\t\t\trajii's style, trying to expand my understanding of digital work and brushwork from artists I admire.I learned a lightning fast painting approach with this piece. From sketch to flats was about an hour, and from that previous post, it was only a few more to get to this. Definitely could use more time and attention, and I hadn't planned it all out from the start, so you'll have to live with a little jank on this one.
If I restarted with this plan and process from the start, it would be cool to see how much it improves. I'm going to take what I gained here and apply it to the other drawing, the pool noodle one from the other day. I want to keep experimenting with the cartoonier approach. I think I'm finding a looseness that's both fun to do and appealing to look at. At least I think so!
I'm planning to lean more into color relativity in the next one, paint it like a traditional process from flats to finish, but not try to make it feel like traditional brushwork anymore. Rajii's demonstration of color theory is very accomplished, and he gets a lot done with fewer brushstrokes. I really want to try to develop something like that--less is more.
What do you think? Should we name this zebra stud and ask him and his hammer back again in the future? I'm sure Ashton would want his number after this, assuming he has the dexterity to type it in when this is all done.
