This was a very quick sketch into a quick and rough inking. I'm experimenting with very different styles to expand my range. This one's inspired from
\n\t\t\t\t\trajii, whose digital skills are incredible in and out of the furry scene. Something about the simple suppleness of their characters is appealing. Streamlined is a good word for their style. Gentle, rounded without being so realistic it becomes distracting or grotesque, as traditional art can often be. (Look at the results of any life drawing class, and it might turn your stomach how drastically unappealing it is.) While I'm not ultimately looking to copy or adopt their style, it's a great learning experience to try to get into Rajii's head and see how that appeal is created. That sense for appeal is what I'll try to take from this experimenting.The assets of a cartoony style are in the simplicity. It can be done relatively quickly while getting a ton of appeal at the same time. It's really efficient in that way, something I want to be in the digital space. Most of the work here is done in the lighting, which obviously we don't have yet, but the appeal should already be present in the lines. I've got a long way to go, but this is just the first experiment into a cartoonier style, and I'm enjoying it so far! If I can develop both styles, then I think I'm sitting on a really good pool of options for future clients.
If you've see the previous abandoned works you'll know I've been determined to do something pool related since this summer, and I'm not giving up, damn it!
