Another timed speedpaint, this one ~6h. I was able to accomplish a hell of a lot more in that time than the previous one with Basil. I'm getting better, but digital is still a technical mystery to me it feels like.
All my training and practice has always been traditional, not digital. I've dabbled a bit over the years, but never invested any real effort into transitioning. The process I use for traditional pieces just isn't panning out here. I'm studying some of my favorite furry artists' processes to soak up what I can... Lots to learn!
Each time I work on something, I've been experimenting with a different approach or style or combination of the two. I think I'm starting to get the hang of a couple things, but I want to try a wildly different style next and see if that feels better. My training says realism-realism-realism, but it's simply not appealing in the context of furry porn--while being so much more tedious, time consuming, and harder to pull off.
At the end of the day, nobody gives a shit how hard you work on something. They simply like it or they don't! That's always been my favorite part of art. You can't explain why you like it, but you know you do. So then what's the point of me doing all this extra work if it doesn't make the piece more appealing to you guys?
I'm going to throw all my formal training out the window in this next one and look into a looser, cartoonier style and see how that works. My gut says there's a middle ground that is just *chef's kiss*. Once I find that sweet spot, I think I'll be in the money! Thanks for coming to check it out.
