Hey babe! This was commissioned elsewhere; the client wanted to see Basil propositioning the viewer. A pencil drawing pinup. This was all done on one layer with one brush and one eraser. Worked on it in bits while working on other pieces.
This piece gave me a lot of opportunities to bring my traditional, classical training into the digital space, something I've been struggling to manage since I started doing furry work. You can see the journey so far in the earlier pieces of the gallery--quite the development since I started. I can see the areas that were earlier and then later in this practice, and I can't wait to apply what I've learned to the next piece. I'm considering backing up other in-progress work to utilize this refined technique! Let's see what the other clients think.
This is the first time posting Basil here, so here's a little about him:
Set in the 2000s, Basil is a 19 year old prostitute in DFW, Texas. A Bombay Black Cat with signature bright yellow eyes.
History: He dropped out of high school at 16 when his parents kicked him out for being queer. He couch surfed for some time, but a lack of cash and income ran him through friends pretty quickly. He started bartering time and labor, which eventually turned to tricks. His wide range of talents turned into a thriving business. He strips when business is slow or cops are prowling (but not buying). His regular johns and stripping keep him flush with cash, so he sees no reason to do anything else. A 9-5 can't give him the rush of a takedown, a wad of cash in his pocket, and the ability to come and go as he pleases. With no roots, he can be whoever and whatever he wants.
