Instead, these imperfect stones are given to pokemon to help them decide if they even want to evolve; they can be bought or most commonly, can be obtained by completing a lengthy test about one's species of pokemon that can be taken after graduation. The test is often taken by eevees in order to decide if they want to evolve and if so, which evolutionary path to take.\n\nIris though, is a bit different.
