Once Oliver was done, he walked over to the machine and started preparing it to take on Ion's blood and in essence become his heart and lungs during the time in which Ion's heart would be replaced. Meeka meanwhile was setting up the clamps to Ion's major blood vessels connecting to his heart for when they needed to cut off the blood flow. Once all the set up was complete, Oliver turned on the bypass machine and signaled Meeka who then quickly injected Ion's heart with a special medicine that started to significantly slow its beating, to a point where it was only vibrating and finally it took it's last beat it would ever make and fully stopped. \n\nMeeka then fully clamped the vessels, making sure no more blood would enter Ion's stilled heart and fully link him up to the bypass machine. Oliver came over and inspected Ion's chest cavity, making sure there were no leaks and when he was satisfied, he grabbed a special pair of snips and a scalpel and then asked Meeka to hold Ion's heart and stabilize it. Oliover made a small cut in the atria wall of Ion's heart, enough to get the snips in there and then started cutting around one of the major blood vessels. Leftover blood started spilling out of Ion's heart, filling his chest cavity to which Meeka inserted a suction tube to drain it out. Once one side was done, Oliver did the same to the other side of Ion's heart, with Meeka continuing to suck out all the blood that was pouring out the deceased organ. Once Oliver was done, he was now able to pull Ion's natural heart out of his chest, leaving nothing but an empty space where it once rested.  Oliver places Ion's deceased heart on the tray next to his new synthetic one, with blood still oozing out from the severed tissues while Meeka finished draining the remaining blood that was pooling in Ion's chest from when his heart was extracted.
